i hate it when the 2 girls your trying to talk to at the same time all the sudden find out through the grapevine. then they go talk to each other and they become best friends. WTF is that?!?! you get no punanny and they are teaming up on you to see if they can destroy your future of women and reputation. thats what really sucks.

Hard core relationships worth being in and commiting to can wait. The idea is to have 20ish or better female friends so you can have some that you just hook up with on the weekends, some you go to the movies with, some to talk to about the meaning of life...space it out a bit. Seems to work fine. Besides, its really damn hard to find a chick that can meet all the above requirements and everything else. And I've found out that atleast for me, its not worth my time to be in a "relationship" with anything less.
Wow, all that was typed by me?

anyways, not really off-topic but i dont feel like making a thread anywhere about it. ----how far does a car need to be sanded down to make the paint stick and look nice? should a pour some paint thinner on a spot and then kind of like wet-sand it? i have all the rough spots, dings, and paint ships smoothed out. i just need to to sand the rest of it down.

Well then talk with the shop doing the work, if would be best usually to get it down to bare metal and primer it from there. But if you are just going to paint it the same color and aren't looking for $2000 paint job then you can usually get away with a lighting sanding over the whole car with some 440 grit or something to rough the surface up. I'm not really a paint expert so look around for more info.

gotcha...i actually plan to do the whole thing myself. it really doesnt matter what it turns out like. i just want to test it out on this car because i really cant make it looks worse, because the paint is really dull. plus my grandpa has a really good paint gun just lying in his garage, so i thought i would do a little experimenting.
BTW: i plan to paint it the same color. how much paint you think i would need to get mixed to spray the whole car? probably do 3 or 4 coats of paint and clear coat. how much does paint usually cost per gallon or whatever?

BTW: i am always willing to learn something new. and while i have a sander and paint gun and a car that needs a new paint job. it isnt like brain surgery for me to know what i should do. if worst comes to worst, the paint wont stick or it wont be even or it will drip on me? either way, it will probably look better than it does now. im excited to try it.

Did I ever mention to you guys that I not only love Japanese cars... I collect Japanese swords also. And everyone wonders why I'm broke!!! I recently sold a Japanese sword in WWII mounts for $650... I bought it for $50 and polished it myself (Japanese sword polishing takes months... I'm still pretty much an amatuer still though but I'm getting better!). I have had dozens that I bought and I usually sell them later after polishing them (I usually buy swords and not so great condition) and I'm waiting until that day I find the One! I currently have a project Shinto era (300+ year old) wakizashi (A samurai's auxilary-short sword) that I'm polishing and a Shinto era Yari (Japanese spear-head) that I'm thinking of converting into a historical reproduction of a 'cane-sword'. Cool stuff!

it sounds cool...why does it take so long to polish one of those swords up?
1viadrft
11-09-2004, 07:16 PM
It gets kinda technical... in the shell there are different grains of polishing stones for each layer of steel... and to bring out the beauty of the sword such as the hada (grain patterns from the folding of the actual steel) and hamon (a beautiful temper line from the heating and cooling process of the blade) there are different techniques and angles to be used or you can lose that blade activity forever and potentially ruin an heirloom. The polishing process is also how the blades get their surgical sharpness...
http://bugei.com/images_templ/bamboo_activity.jpg
The HAMON (or temper-line) is that top cloudy-white part up top on the edge of the sword... the HADA or grain is all the wood-like grainy lines below under the hamon on the blades surface. You can see why it would take so long... I have yet to get one of my swords to look like that. It can take a sword-smith about a year to forge and polish a good sword...

Hello, fellow Z lovers. I read the forum all the time, but unfortunately i dont have much mechanical knowledge so i dont get to contribute much. But i can answer DeleriousZ's question! Hattori Hanzo is a fictional character from an really old japanese samurai show. The Hattori Hanzo character that made a cameo apperence in kill bill would be a decendent of the legendary samurai from the show. The actor's name is Sonny Chiba.

Actually he was a real person... the Japanese love to use historical figures in their entertainment for some reason. Other historical figures used in this sense are Jubei Yagu and Nobunaga... are any of you familiar with the ONIMUSHA game series? Nobunaga was actually rumored to have dabbled in black-magic and was also rumored to be a demon... why else would he be able to take over all of Japan? This was the whole basis of the Onimusha game.

in kansas, a non-moving violation doesn't show up on your insurance or drivers liscense, so if you get a ticket and pay double the fine, the court will make it a non-moving violation. ahhh, you can tell a state is greedy when all you have to do "get out of" a ticket is pay double the fine.
