Hell i read this forum all the time. But as you all know im only a Z PHanATic so I can't say too much interesting stuff about the cars, because I don't own one. By the way I dont live in America any more so I don't know what's going on there now, and blablabla, and I even don't have a drivers liscence so who would read my posts. Click on the ignore button people.
BTW i'm working on my 1:18 scale Z project car. The body is starting to look smashing IMO, and my s2000 was lately presented in the worlds bigggggest car tuning magazine - Maxi Tuning - Polands edition of course. A link to the 300 progress thread http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=535632&page=3
Anyway I seem to love Z forums and I hope one day i'll show You guys my ride.

I'M NOT DEAD YET!!!!!!
For those who still remember me that is. I just arrived in Berlin yesterday. Recent visits include Munich, Nuremberg, Salzburg, Innsbruck, Prague and Vienna. Vienna kicks ass!!! They have the most mental gothic style churches I have ever seen there. Munich is pretty awesome too. We ended up staying for a few extra nights there because it was so good. Bavarian beer in 1 Liter mugs = the shit. Sorry i havent been on in a while but its fucking hard to find time to jump on the net nowadays.
Hope everyone is still good. Ill try and post pics up soon. That is if i ever find a decent computer that has a USB port....
Have a good one guys!!!

so i got some terrible news today. I just moved home from college for the summer to work my two old jobs and when i get home i go to hug my Z when my dad telle me what has happened......
while i was gone someone broke into our garage and broke out my pas. window to get into my car. Well i have it all lovked up and the alarm worked, i even had a club on the steering wheel..... But they did jack my faceplate and broke by fuckin head-unit. so im pissed. i have to gop get a new one.. (btw: any suggestions?) so i guess me dad took my Z out to get the window replaced for me when something very complicated happened resulting a large piece of glass at the window place scrapping up the front-end of my baby. IM soooo sad right now. So im either just gunnna get it sanded and filled and buffed and painted ....... or im gunna get a new front bumper.... And i always have been real fond of the stillen front lip spoilers. So thats where im at right now.

thats horrid man...im with delerious, i would get on the asses of the glass shop. those stillen front lips look awesome with the TT front bumper. but if i were you, i would just look on TT.net for a used A-spec front bumper maybe even in your color. if you get lucky, you may be able to find one in good enough condition where you dont need to paint it.
good luck...

2 Izuzu NQRs in Atlanta May 17-24
aka "The Time Very Little Went According to Plan"
Go get a sandwich. Take a leak if you have to. Or just skip the text and click the pictures.
So then, there was two Izuzu NQR flatbeds in Atlanta that needed to be picked up, the plan being to stack one on top the other. Now the trucks both weigh about 8500 pounds and are grossed 18000 pounds. So if I'm not going to be overloaded I'm going to be right on the bleeding edge. I don't think it will work but whatever. The first problem came when it came out that Southwest, the airline my boss gets free miles from, doesn't fly into Atlanta. So then, I get a flight into Birmingham, Alabama the 15th and have to drive 160 some miles to Atlanta. Not a problem. So there I was at the shop picking up the chains and binders before heading out to the airport. A chunk of hacked off angle iron slides off a shelf and hits me in the chest. Five stiches, $220 and a schedule change later I have a flight out the 17th. A minor delay but a sign of things to come. I land in Chicago, get on my next flight and land in Birmingham. Wait a minute, where the **** is my bag with the chains, license plate and tools? It didn't get put on the flight. Well whatever, I get my rental car and find a hotel for the night. I get a call around 11:00 pm saying they found it and it will be there the next morning.
So then, the flight comes in at 9:30 and I get my bag. 160 miles to Atlanta, should be no problem to make it there before the place I'm picking up the trucks closes at 5:00 pm right? Except that I-20 is solid road construction to the state line. By then it's rush hour in Atlanta. And since I forgot my mapquest maps to the place at home I spend a few hours driving up and down highway 10 east of Atlanta trying to find the place. In fact it takes so long I have to call Hertz and extend my rental for a day because I can't find the place to turn it in either. Anyway, I get close to where I think the trucks are and call the guy. He's not that happy that it's now 7:30 but he agrees to meet me and I can follow him. So I pull up and see this mess:
http://img91.imageshack.us/img91/6638/picture0031it.th.jpg (http://img91.imageshack.us/my.php?image=picture0031it.jpg)
That's my sweet ass Kia rental. Anyway, I start to get the chains out when the guy that sold them comes out and asks if I have my bosses cell phone number. He doesn't want to accept the check without having it verified first, which has to wait until 9:00 tomorrow morning. Fine, get a motel, spend another night flipping through channels.
So then the next morning I get a better look at the tires on the bottom truck, and besides the fact that the weight has damn near folded the side walls in half, they are torn to ****. Head my happy ass a mile down the road to a Goodyear store. Let me tell you something about the GVWR, the maximum weight a truck can carry, it's an imaginary number created by the marketing department to sell trucks. I could barely make 30 mph, it wouldn't shift out of second gear. Take the GVWR and subtract about 2000-4000 pounds and you'll have the practical limit. The Goodyear place can't do anything with the truck on the back so I head back to place I picked them up, called my boss and managed to convince him it just wasn't going to work. So get the other truck off loaded, drop the one I was going to drive back off to get new tires and drop the rental off. There was a pair of mid-sized Chevy utility trucks in Phoenix so the plan became for me to pick one of those up.
So then, pick the truck up and it was off on the road. This part went alright despite the fact that the mirrors were beat to shit, the trans was running hot and I could only make about 60 since as you can see from the pictures these Izuzu trucks are aerodynamic suicide. I drove all night and slept in some parking lot in Texas during that day, I didn't want to risk overheating the transmission driving during the day since it was triple digit temperatures from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm. Being that it was a thousand some mile drive through Texas, I had plenty of time to think about everything that had gone wrong up to that point and what could go wrong. But then I saw something that reminded me that no matter how bad my trip was going, there is always someone who is having a worse day:

I was two lanes away doing 40 mph with the AC on and the window rolled up and I could feel the heat through the cab.
Got to a little place about 50 miles east of El Paso before I had to stop again, no sense even trying to sleep this time, it was too hot. I had a digital temperature gauge with me and I was screwing around seeing how hot stuff was getting until I pointed it at part of the open door that was in the sun.

That **** is just not cool. No pun intended.
So then, drove all night, the transmission fluid had finally dropped from a suicidal 240 degrees to a more normal 170 and got to Tuscon before I decided I was too tired to drive ("Wait...why are there ten lines on the road..."). Got a motel and started out early what was now Monday morning. Since the transmission was running cooler I figured it would be alright to drive during the day, being in southern Arizona not withstanding. Ran into a huge dust storm on the way, tumbleweeds flying everywhere, which is actually kind of cool because they are like brittle sticks so they explode with you hit them.
One of the things that is kind of unique to the southwest that I've seen is the amount of abandoned **** there is. On the outskirts of every town there is always a few homes just boarded up, roofs collapsed. Buses just out in the middle of the desert. Old brick buildings with crumbling walls. There is always the home or two around each town that is like a mini junkyard of cars, tractors, farm equipment and who knows what else. It's kind of weird but it's interesting to see it all.
Got to the Chevy dealership in Phoenix and had to talk to a few different people before anyone knew what the hell I was talking about. The problem now was the truck I was picking up was on the back of a tow truck that had died. It would have been pretty easy to back my flatbed up to the tow truck if the lift arm on the tow truck wasn't in the way, and since it was dead (engine torn down "hey-look-at-the-pistons dead") it couldn't be moved. But I found another tow truck driver with a truck that could back up to it that just happened to be dropping a van off and he helped me transfer the truck around for no charge. Jimmy with TriStar towing in Phoenix is a nice guy.

On the road, this next 1600 some miles was fairly uneventful. I was on I-10 til I hit San Bernadino. There I ran into the mother of all head winds and since the truck was straining to do 40 mph I pulled off for the night. Thankfully it died down by the morning and I was able to get to I-15 and head north to Barstow to cut through the Mojave desert instead of driving through the utter hell that is LA. I forget what the place is called but it's one of the few gas stations out there, it's at a four way cross roads and gas was $4.29 for a gallon of 87 octane. But it's not like you could get it anywhere else out there. All the long way up California and through Oregon was boring as usual but it was the home stretch on what was damn near a 4000 mile trip so it's all good.
Just another eight days on the road.
aka "The Time Very Little Went According to Plan"
Oh, and one last thing. You know those pictures you see on the net where someone has driven off with gas pump nozzle still hanging off the car? I saw it happen. I was sitting in a burger joint/gas station east of El Paso and just happened to look over as some guy in a Cherokee drove off with the nozzle still shoved in his car.

You're lucky they're covering it. If they knew about that little detail you'd probably find yourself at the short end of steep bill.
yes your probably right...
but come to find out, it wasnt the motor at all. it was a pre-cat that broke itself in pieces right under the engine. so its RPM dependent and it sounds like a fatal engine problem but its no big deal.
i will get it fixed someday as it is really annoying. eh...
as for you story, as always a very joyful and entertaining read. thats funny about them thinking that you could drive with those trucks on top of each other like that. people just want things done and do whatever it takes no matter how practical it is, expecially true with business managers.

What are the engine mounts like in that car? If they allowed the motor to jerk around a lot when you dropped it into gear then that's probably what did it.

Good to know someone gets a laugh out of all the stuff that happens out there. I figured stacking the trucks wasn't going to work but I can see where he's coming from on that one. Between paying me, the fuel bill (almost $1000) and the other expenses (hotel rooms, the rental and some parts I had to pick up) it cost him almost $2500 to get that truck back from Atlanta and the other one is still back east. But apparently he just bought a bigger flatbed about 100 miles away from the other Izuzu that he can bring it back with.
