well, just to keep you guys updated on the progress on my car...i have ordered alot of new parts that i will be receiving next week and into the following.
i am receiving a very nice JDM motor because there has been some problems and i have acted like a really POed customer so they have given me some money off and promised me the best conditioned motor on there next shipment which is supposed to be a 40k km motor. the problem was they are out of motors with uncut wiring harnesses so they contacted there JDM supplier and they are sending out a new batch, but the shipment keeps getting delayed due to some storms or soemthing over in Japan. :dunno: probably bull shit they are making up just so it looks like they didnt forget to order it. anywho, i am in no rush so it is all good. i will post some pictures as parts come in...:D
oh yeah, i sold my n/a auto transmission finally, so there is a nice chunk of money for my new wheels.
everyone, just give a brief description of any progress you guys have made on your plans.

got a little bored today so i decided to get out the digital camera for my buddy and decided to take a couple pictures of some miscallaneous stuff for you guys to check out my handy work.
$15 dollars and 20lbs of cat litter later we have a transmission in a crate that is ready to be shipped...that transmission oil never stops drainging. i left it upside down for a couple hours and its still dripping out.
http://img30.echo.cx/img30/9411/car0019np.th.jpg (http://img30.echo.cx/my.php?image=car0019np.jpg)
here is the damage to my driver's side side skirt...its not as bad as i remember but it is still there and is still pretty bad. i never really had side skirts on my list until this happened. i wish i could afford the 99' JDM ones but i have to settle for the WW.
http://img147.echo.cx/img147/9976/car0024cr.th.jpg (http://img147.echo.cx/my.php?image=car0024cr.jpg)
im sure broke and probe can share my pain on this on but it sucks going in my garage because the only time my Z has moved in the last 4 months has been up about 2 1/2 feet in the air. it sucks so bad...

if you guys had to pick 3 aftermarket guages to put into your Z, what would they be??? and turbo/vacuum guage has to be one of them. so i have 2 open spaces to fill...
i know a pyrometer is a must on diesels but is it just as important on the VG30DE(TT)...wouldnt it be a pain in the ass because you would have to splice the wires and get 2 different readings causing the guage to not read accurately.
it already has a water temp. guage but is it accurate enough...
what about an aftermarket oil pressure guage...is the stock unit accurate enough for building up a Z.
can i make a water temp guage work for the an oil temperature guage???
what about fuel pressure??? do i need one of those???
anyways, i have 2 spaces to fill and i need to pick the 2 most needed guages. i was thinking about getting a fuel pressure and an oil temperature. i would get a fuel ratio one but i will probably be getting a Apexi AFC later on down the road and it has a built in guage.
tell me what you guys think...

come on...you should have some idea on what is the most crucial. you build race cars... :D
after further investigation, i think i will definitely go with the oil temperature and boost/vacuum. so now i have one more space to fill...id like to do fuel pressure maybe but the set im looking at doesnt have a fuel pressure guage and i dont want miss matched guages in my pod. so maybe i could rig up a oil pressure guage to read fuel pressure. or maybe just get a fuel pressure guage installed right in the line under the hood and go a different route for the pod.
any thoughts??? maybe go with a air/fuel eventhough i will probably be getting a apexa AFC?...

i find oil pressure is always handy with an accurate guage... that way you know if something's going to fuse to your cylinder walls because of lack of oil (low oil, low pressure) but i'm not sure if the z32 has this already... i'd go with air/fuel for now, and swap it for something later on when you do get the AFC... i'd much rather know the air fuel ratio than the fuel pressure... if you see the a/f drop way lean, then you'll know it's got something to do with the fuel... where a f-pressure would let you know sooner, it won't tell you if you're running slightly lean or slightly rich..

ok well honesty the guages that come on the car (ie oil pressure) are the most crucial, those are the ones we make sure to put on racecars, u could stick with the ones on the car even though they aren pefectly accurate (but close enough) or u could just run redundant guages....thats what i say u do, i guess, idk lets see some other input

yeah the z32 already has a oil pressure guage stock so i dont think i will repeat guages. if the stock oil pressure guage is working properly it will tell me if i have a problem. water temp is also on the stock guage panel so i wont worry about those.
even aftermarket air/fuel ratio guages arent very accurate, most of them are just a lighted bar that goes across from lean to rich.
anyways, i think i will go with the air/fuel, oil temp, and boost/vacuum...i am getting a hell of a deal on these and tires from that same guy that hooked me up with my first set of wheels. :naughty:
he is trying to get me a good price on some eibach springs too but that hasnt gone through yet. the other stuff, he said when im ready to order them he will hook me up. its lovely to have hook-ups...
thanks for the help guys...air/fuel, oil temp, and boost is the way i will do it. now in what order on the pod. is the very top guage or the very bottom guage the most visible.i would think the top guage is the easiest to spot but i may have to take my eyes off the road. ehh...i guess i will work out the bugs later.
BTW: i think i may have to say farewell to the 86' 300zx..i think i may have a buyer. i am so reluctant to sell this car because it has so much potential as a track car..plus, it is a Z and i have put a lot of time and effort into making it a solid car again. :(

actually Some guages can be pretty accurate, with the correct sensor kit and wideband o2 sensor... i was looking at the AEM kit a while back and it looked like it was a pretty solid setup... pretty pricey for just a sensor and guage, but it doesn't get much better for just that unless you start going with the super high end professional stuff....
it's ok that you're sellin the z31... just makes room for another project :D

as for u sellin the Z31 k3. Im sorry. Selling a Z is like losing a son, and not just any son, your favorite son, the one that u love more than the other ones. lol but that money will help u out with your TT project so its all good.
that hookup of yours seems to have you petty well taken care of what all are u gettin off him and at what prices ? i only get 2 major hookups workin on that race team but their straight, i get 25% off the price Genuine Nissan gives shops so thats nice if i ever get small replacement parts like gaskets, or any OEM parts, and i also get a discount at Jegs. do guys have Jegs wherever u all live. ???? i just ask cuz Jegs started here in columbus ohio and i didnt know if they really had many franchises ??
well peace yall and good luck to everyone whos workin on something right now.

yeah i know, i said most air/fuel ratio guages arent very accurate. most of them just have a little bar that lights up and down. i guess it tells you where you are but it doesnt give you any precise measurements. and yeah that AEM kit is nice but nicely priced too.
no more projects for a while unless i come across a FC3S TII or a 240Z or a Model A hard top that i cant resist. otherwise, i am waiting till next year and buying a bike. then maybe the following year trade in my GTP for an E46 M3. :naughty: hey, anything is possible!!!
anyways, yeah im getting 245/40/18 in the front and 275/40/18 in the rear. the rear tires will have a bigger circumference than what is recommended but i dont care about my speedo being off. i just want a thicker tire and a plus i should have virutally no wheel well gap after i get the eibachs on there. :D oh and i havent decided on the nitto new gens or the 555's...555's are a little more money but stickier but i will probably be going through tire like crazy so may just go wth the cheaper tire so when i ahve to replace them i dont have to worry about breaking the bank. we will see...both are nice tires. and a plus about the neo gens is that they arent directional so if i wear more on once side than the other like i did last time i can swap sides.
the guy gives me alot of stuff for almost the price he pay for the product. for example, my last set of wheels totaled to be $2400 but he gave them to me for $1550 and he only paid $1500. so basically he made $50 instead of the $900 he would normally make...but i bring him lots of business and have helped him with his business quite a bit so its all fair game.
basically, the guages im looking at are $90 a piece on average and he said he can get them to me with the autometer pod for $250. not bad, right???

well, more parts finally came in today. i received my downpipes yesterday and my test pipes today. the downpipes have a little story and this is the reason why i didnt get the new super splits. there was a guy on TT.net that wrecked his Z after he already ordered these downpipes. so he sold them to me brand new for real cheap. they ahve just been sitting in his garage. so i took them and i bought a set of testpipes to go along with them.

i got another question, can you have mufflers re-stuffed or whatever is on the inside of the mufflers???
i like my stillen catback but i think mine has been on there a while and the mufflers are starting to sound funny. i guess before i get to far ahead of myself i better get my car running better to get a better idea if what it sounds like with the new motor.

bah, who needs mufflers... the turbos will do a good enough job of keeping the sound level down ;)

but they sounded funny with my N/A motor. we will see...it probably just sounded funny to me because i tend to be very picky. if i change exhausts im going to that B&B 4.5" dual tip dual exhaust...its friggin HUGE!!!
the exhaust should still be pretty loud with the testpipes and just mufflers. we will see...im hoping it will sound good. nic and quiet at idle and cruising but when i cream it i want it to scream...who needs a V8 rumbling when you got a V6 TT screaming??? :evillol:

i wont have the dual intake kit for a while but the hardpipes will be coming in a couple weeks or so...hoepfully.
i got to get this situation with the bank settled. seems like everytime i start getting ahead something happens to bring be 5 steps back.

you betcha, hopefully i'm able to sell my old rims (buyer's been screwing around for a week now, probably going to flake on me) i'll be able to put down a deposit to the company. it's either that, or the 5.0 litre porsche 928.. they both go for around the same price.. the porsche is a lhd automatic, which would be alright... it'd drink the gas like a mofo.. however... can't go wrong with stock 315 break hp! i'm pretty stuck on finding a nice 200zr tho... just can't really compete with it in my eyes... altho, i've figured out that it IS infact 177bhp and 166 ft lbs stock, because of the lack of eccs, as it's a red top rb20det rather than the skyline's silvertop that makes 215 hp and 195 ft lbs..... actually to make it even more confusing, the 86/87's came with the nics system with 178 bhp, the 88-89's came with the ECCS 190 bhp versions, and the 89-on came with the 215 bhp eccs... that's why i'm hoping for an 88 or 89... 190 sounds much better than 178:p

oh, i've also been looking at some 180sx's... in my eyes, the ca18det is a superior engine to the sr20det's... i know a lot of people may argue with me, but i stand by my decision..

its not superior in my eyes but it doesnt get the credit it deserves...i will agree with you there. when i first bought my Z31 i wa going to maybe try a CA28DET swap in it. just to be different...and you can pick up a front clip for $1000. now thats a deal...

i can't wait till may 19'th... that's going to be an intense movie... it's going to be enjoyable to see that flamer fall into the lava, i hate hayden christianson... they really fell through with the actor choice for 2 and 3 in my eyes.

tried duct tape?
i dont know...you could try adjusting the latch and adjusting the brackets on the side. latch just may be loose...

well, not much but here is another picture of a part that arrived saturday. PWR 15 row oil cooler....i recommend to anyone wanting to upgrade to a larger oil cooler. built really solid and it doesnt seem like the fins will bend as easy as they do with most external coolers. well worth the money in my opinion...here is a picture of it installed on a Z32. HUGE!!!

Courtesy of AMZ performance...this is also where i ordered mine from.
