yeah, smoking is nasty... i used to have a cigar (colt... ugh) every once in a while (like one every 4 months) but now i don't do it because the taste in your mouth in the morning is just so absolutely terrible..

I first saw the Solstice (http://www.pontiac.com/solstice/) at a fair and thought it was pretty good, a step in the right direction for Pontiac. Until I asked the guy how much it weighed. "Target weight is around 2800 lbs." Well now, thats pretty heavy considering it's only making 7 more horsepower than a 2500 lbs 2006 MX-5 Miata (170 hp). But my 240 weighs about 2800 and can do alright when it is inclined to so I didn't write it off. Apparently it doesn't matter because all three of the Solstice-Miata magazine comparisons I've read have them pretty much in a dead even draw. 0-60, 60-0, 1/4 mile, skidpad and just about everything else are close enough that a drivers error would skew the results one way or the other.

So then, I thought to myself, Pontiac has done right well for themselves, being on par with the best in it's class.

Then I saw the article about the Mallet Solstice.

If you don't know who Mallet (http://www.mallettcars.com/) is, slap yourself for being a dickweed. They got famous off of their Corvette tuning and have since branched out though they still mostly work with Chevys as they have in the past.

And they have stuffed the 400hp LS2 V8 from the C6 Vettes into the new Solstice.

Still weighing a mere 3000 lbs you get 6 liters of power pushed through an upgraded drive train with all the suspension and brake goodies to go with.

And if that is not enough they offer a huge list of upgrades like a six speed transmission, race grade suspension, roll bar and as if it needed anymore power, a supercharger, set to push the tiny car up to 600 hp.

If that doesn't cream your twinkie you can get a 7 liter engine with supercharger strapped to it, good for an to be determined amount of power, probably in the area of "A lot".

The cool thing? It comes with a two year, 24,000 mile warranty and can be bought off the showroom floor.

It's at times like these we must remind ourselves: "Life is good."

Damn it. Didn't think about that, guys. I will smoke a cigar on rare occasion, and only GOOD cigars (if it didn't cost at the very LEAST 5 bucks, more than likely "ewww"). This is a "4 or 5 times a YEAR" kinda thing, at most though. What I should have said (and how I usually say it to people):

Ewww...there's just something so wrong about that to me and I don't know why. I've always hated smoking. Cigs smell bad, they make you smell bad, they're expensive as FUCK (see sidenote), they make you dirty, etc...don't understand WHY or HOW ANYONE would smoke cigs (or even cigars on a regular basis, for that matter)...why start something you know you're going to want to stop eventually?

After all is said and done, there's not much better at times than sitting, drinking a good beer and tokin on a good cigar.

Sidenote: I had a great idea a while back. What's the current price of a carton of *______ insert your brand here*, for instance? Most likely between 20 and 30 bucks. If I started "investing" now, I could fill a chest freezer with cartons of various cigs. This would be like buying a stock you KNOW is going to increase in value!! My GOD...imagine what that'd be worth when they're outlawed!!!

St. Louis is terrible, the town is wierd, and it's too small. Plus it's like a 7 hour drive for me, like a 6 hour drive for Jason, and a 12 hour drive for LLZ....

As for overall medals in the Olympics, Canada has 1 more than the US, 10-9. Frankly I would have thought it would have been alot more considering thats just about the only thing they ever win at.

i think this is one of the coolest concepts i've ever seen. the concept? pure performance. it looks like it is going to go into production in the U.K. as well as the U.S. (oregon factory) could just be rumors though. the price is the best part, you could be stomping enzos for around $50,000. (usd)
