hey, i'm making a weak 11 an hour so you guys have nothing to complain about...

Ditto...11/hr for me, but I'm off weekends, holidays and I get out of work at 430-ish at the latest...:biggrin: Used to make more money but this is still better cuz the hrs rule and the job is easy anyway.

i make $15.00 an hour but i just got a $3.00 raise for knowing more than 2 jobs in the plant, plus shift differentials. all in all a pretty sweet deal beings that also includes great health benefits for me and my family (if i had a wife and children), paid holidays, paid vacation (2 weeks after 1st year service, 3 weeks after 4 years service, and 4 weeks after 7 years service), and i am fully represented by a union. it works for now...but switching shifts and working OT gets old after so many months.

my plan is to quit or take a leave next fall to start back to school. with me working every shift any given week and anywhere from 40-80 hours a week disables me from attending school of any sort. so if anyone wants to trade me jobs ill switch ya!

lucky! my mom forced me to get a job and its not like she is hurting for money. as soon as i took over my own bills and started helping with finances around the house, she went on a spending spree. $5000 worth of birds, new kitchen cabinets and floor, finished attic, tore up the carpet in the living room and refinished the hardwoo floor that lay beneath. i got jipped!

anyways, it took me 2 and a half hours to pull the Twin Turbo motor back out of the 300zx. starte at 4:30 and i finished about 15 minutes ago. not bad for a nights work. i actually feel like i got something accomplished on my first day off in a while. :lol:

soon to come: beastly Twin Turbo Motor but first thing is first, i need to buy a motor stand!

well i still havent decided on forged pistons. the motor all depends on how much a machine shop is gonna cost me to rebuild it back to stock vs. rebuilding it with forged pistons vs. getting another used motor. :dunno:

i think i have decided to aim to get upgraded turbos and fuel injectors but if it takes me till march to get the motor than i may have to wait on that. bottom line i should have a solid 11 second car or a solid 12 second car. so we will see...it just depends.

If your gonna dump that much cash into the engine you might as well do it properly. I think you will kick yourself later on down the track if you dont get them done. If you gonna work your engine do it properly. You seem like the type of person that will drive the car hard enought to warrent needing the piece of mind that your engine is just that much less likely to shit itself under full load.

Well when I first got my GT4 I had some big plans for it. I originally wanted it to b good enough for a high 12 second pass eventually. So I contacted Tristan, (MR2 guy) and asked him to best go about it. He mentioned the fact that re-upgrading an part that you have upgraded once before is a really costly way of going about things. I was originally not going to go all out with my engine but he pointed out how much it would cost to do one mild rebuild now and a wild one later on down the track. That is two lots of labour charges and twice the car has to be off the road. Yes I guess you will probably do the rebuild yourself but the down time will kill you after finally getting it on the road again :p That and it is just so much more comforing to know that I can happily beat the shit out of the car with the confidence I will still be able to drive it home afterwards. Its like insurance for your engine really. Pay a little bit more now and save on haveing to get your engine rebuilt again a year later.

Its also my belief that you should throw money at the engine before all other parts. Once you have the engine built to the roof you can simply drive it with the rest of the stock parts until you can afford the rest. All other modifications you do to the car rely on how well the engine is setup to handle them.

I would rather spend 6k on my engine and run stock turbos and stock everything and have a reletively mild performance increase, than throw 3k at the engine and 3k at other parts and get a much bigger bang for my buck in the short term.

This is because to go further in the first scenario I can go nuts on any part i want without having to reopen the engine at anypoint and re-spend any of the 6k initially invested. In the 2nd scenario I may hav only upgraded one or two parts inside the engine and will soon be reaching the limits of other internal stock parts, thus having to re-open the engine again forking out another 4.5k on getting the parts and getting it rebuilt again. You would have the same engine specs as the first scenario but you have spent and extra $1500 to get it.

If you have the engine out, you might as well take it apart. If you're going to pull it out and take it apart, you might as well fortify it. If you're going to pull it out, take it apart and fortify it, DO IT RIGHT! Do everything to it now that you could possibly ever want to do to it so you don't have to pull the thing again.

Jason, the Audi isn't what I would consider incredibly fast, however, it handles like a dream. The car is built to have the parts of the car work together, and oh my God do they. :eek:

Anyway, it's a daily driver until it's payed off (4 years)... Then, Full-Race Turbocharger system with a PTE71mm-68ar. Turbocharger. 450whp on stock internals baby. :evillol:

For the most part, the car's just a looker... Which it is, seeming as I've had offers to get layed just because of my car... I hate girls like that. :rolleyes:

Just called my Uncle, the Car Pimp, to say happy thanksgiving and all and he got the Celica running! Last time I saw it, the turbo wasn't even on the exhaust manifold yet...oil lines were hangin off...it was pretty far from done. Can we say, All-trac 5-speed with an after market turbo and some other tasty little treats? Can't wait to drive that bastard! The factory boost gauge won't even register the boost it's running and it registers 8 psi. Bet it goes like a motherfucker.

yeah J i'm with the rest of these guys, do it right, build the motor first then go for upgraded parts later... after all with your 2.5 hour engine pulls it'd be a breeze to install aftermarket turbo's when the time comes ;)

yeah, i dont like the front at all. if i could go back and do it again, i would get the escort if you can get your hands on them again. i heard they were sold out. anyways, it is basiclaly the JDM without the liscence plate bracket.

as for building it...i think i have a plan, but i am sure i will change my mind. bottom line, it all depends on cash flow and how much money i am willing to spend from jan-april. i want it running by may 1st. so that gives me 5 months but the month of december i will be paying off debts and buying christmas so i have a solid 4 months to build. wish me luck!

Oh yeah Ivia, I actually like that front end. Its different without being too ricey or ruining the nice lines of a Z. I would say go for it. Rigging up some indicators wouldnt be that hard to do. If you could fins some clear ones that would make it look really clean imo.

I hope my Uncle will let me drive the All-trac. He probably will. He let me drive his SVO, too...that is, before he sold it. That car was a lot of fun, too. Hell...it's a turbo...of course it's fun. lol

What's he have now? Hell...I dunno. I SWEAR he's the pimp of all that is wheeled automotive transport. EVERY TIME I go over there, he has something different. Last time I was there he had:

The "Land Crusher" (new-ish Land Cruiser) as a family car.

The All-trac. I'm sure he'll sell this soon. He does this. Picks cars up, maybe tinkers with them a bit, has some fun with them, then sells them...usually making a little money in the process. He doesn't keep many cars very long.

A Ford pickup truck...apparently, making deliveries (my aunt makes honey...anyone want some REAL honey, lemme know...be happy to ship ya some...lol) in an import car/truck around where they live (they live pretty in the boonies here in Kenfucky) would look kinda bad. He 'lovingly' refers to this as the "honey wagon"...lol.

A fastback Mustang that he's been building for the last 741 years. Fuckin BAD mustang...used to put jet fuel in it...just 2 little down pipes for an exhaust...started it one time and forgot that there was a 2x4 and a little plastic bucket under it...both of which caught fire...it rules all that is mustangs...

A little black Corrola with 214,000 miles on it or something like that. He drives it about an hour, one way, to work every day. Says it doesn't burn any oil and the A/C even works still. I'm convinced that fucker will run for ever.

Used to have a little gold-ish Corolla that was like the black one (tons of miles...ran like a champ) but I think he sold it. They had it for...like...15 years or something like that. I remember that car as a wee kid in cali...and I've been living here for ~10 years...so...

Some little beat ass truck he uses on the farm...he was stoked one day cuz he found a tire in a creek that happened to be the same size as all the rest on the truck. I thought that was funny as hell. As completely redneck as I'm sure he sounds now, he really ISN'T at ALL!

Probably somewhere in the area of 3-5 cars that don't run, are in pieces, or are for parts. This number fluctuates on a nearly weekly basis.

This isn't counting the cars and trucks that he gets from work for...what ever the hell he does with them. He got a brand new lexus to drive around for a month or so that was fitted with umpteen million sensors to track and record all the times he pushes and/or uses every button and/or switch on/in the car. He brought a red Z32TT to my house in cali and took me for a ride when I was REAAAAAAAALLY little...perhaps this is why I like Zs...I dunno. He brought a fully built MR2 TT to my house in Cali once, too. We're talking roll cage...fire supression system...the WHOLE nine yards. He wouldn't even take me for a ride in it...which surprised me.

All in all...his property looks more or less like a car dealership at any given time.

LLZ: i will have 2 sets of rods but atleast 1 set. the N/A and TT rods are identical and share the same exact part numbers and yes they are forged and hold 750rwhp. the pistons is the only weak link in the Z32 motor, damn cast pistons...everything else is forged. :D

they look similar in pictures but if you compare them side by side, big difference but a similarity can be made. the G6 is fugly while the 350Z is just ugly. :D the slouched back end just looks funny on the G6 and it sits up way too high.

The G6 does sit up too high. They have many similarities between them. Mostly in the side and rear views...the tail lights...the little spoiler lip...the beltline arch...the side window shapes are very similar...the overall lines of the car from the side and rear are VERY similar. The G6 does sit up too high. It'd look better if it were lowered, but that goes for most cars. Another car that comes to mind when speaking of "REALLY needs to be lowered" is the new Eclipse...it looks cool in the commercials but looks goofy as FUCK in person.

...ugly? That second pic kinda makes it look like an S2000 on steroids. I don't think I've ever heard anyone describe the 350 as ugly. Especially when it's designed after the 240Z and takes a lot of styling cues from this car...a car that all of us agree is timeless in its design.

well IDK man, I think 8 or 9 K is my max, and I want a 2+2 (they've got a lil' more cargo room, and I like the idea that I can have the option of lugging 4 people in my car, although it isn't very probable) with airbags, and if possible not dark green or black in color, but a zed is a zed, so I can't complain (I think my fav color is either red or white)

I found this zed, but the guy's freakin crazy on the asking price, the kbb's only lik 8 grand...

Yuh... I'm actually kicking off my project by getting rid of the rear seats..... front seats too.... and most of the interior!

personally i really don't like the lines of the 2+2 in it's stock form... once it's done up with some body mods (ie 99 fascia... well basically J's car) it looks nice.. but it it's stock form it really looks too weird... i like the shorter looking more compact 2 seater.. but yeah, the rear seats are otherwise useless... good luck fitting anyone over 4 feet back there... should be called a 2+1 as that's all you'll fit back there with the one guy laying sideways across the seats in the fetal position...

Yup...had my first Z31, a 2+2, for...like...2 years...NEVER got 2 people back there. Only ever could fit ONE person back there and they had to lay across the seats.

2+2 is a waste of time, IMO.

I've actually sat in the back seat of a 2+2, my friend mike had an 86 2+2 N/A... most times when I need the back seats I'm usually hauling around girls who aren't really that tall, and we're only going a shorter distance... plus I need all the extra room I can get when I haul around my guitar equipment

I don't really think it affects the look too much. I actually kinda like the slightly longer look of the Z32 2+2, but it's not that big of a difference.

All I found the back seat to be useful for was having a place to put crap...cds, books, whatever...pretty much, you name it, I had it in my back seat. And there was the occasional girl, too...:biggrin:

i dunno man... provided it was warm enough at the time i'd say the 2 seater would be better for that sort of stuff if you didn't have anything in the hatch area.. fold down the front seats and open the rear hatch and you've got quite a bit of room back there... much better than a cramped backseat anyway...

Hey...you'd be surprised what will fit in the back of a Z31...even a 2 seater. I fit my Peavey 4X10 bass cab and head in the back of my 86T with room for the bass and even more room left for cords and my effects processor. Gotta love hatch backs, huh.

LLZ: let me re-phrase my statement...the 350Z isnt ugly, it just isnt good looking. i think it looks like a frog getting ready to leap. the back end is just awful and the front end's mouth part of the bumper looks out of place. the sides look nice.

Z31 2+2 = ugly, rear quarter window is awful!
Z32 2+2 = add wheels and lower

the Z32 coupe looks better than the 2+2 in stock form and modified form. but they look pretty much the same once you lower the 2+2. ehh...i think ill stick with my rust free and slight accident damaged Z32 2+2. my backseats will be removed when the roll cage goes in and i think i will build a 350Z type compartment right there. where there is little compartments behind the seats. maybe add a minor stereo system. keep in mind this will be LAST!

as for getting it on in the car. id rather just take them back to my house in my car and then lay the pipe in the bed. dont want to get my leather all worn...

BTW: GT525R's are too small...go big or go home!
