Sounds killer, K3. On the subject of killer IT jobs, can I pick your brain a bit?
I'd LOVE to get into IT...computer networking or PC repair, preferrably. I was going to self study and get MCSE certified but, after reading about it a bit, I found that doing this with no experience is all but useless. I hate my job...mediocre pay, SHIT hours (50+ a week), tons of bullshit to deal with, etc...how would you recommend breaking into IT?
I'll run some laps on the 'Ring with a few of my cars and let you know how it comes out.

Oh...and I have Bioshock on the way and Asassin's Creed is in my GameFly Queue and I'll probably get that next cuz I've heard from a bunch of people that it's awesome. Got Bioshock first cuz I've read all over the place that it's...like...the best game ever or something...so we'll see.

the best time i have i think is around 6:40 but i'd really have ot check, if not run real hard with some of my cars. that's a modded street car time, not racer
Ok...after running a few laps in a few of my cars, I've found a few conclusions:
1) I suck at this game...not the case.
2) My cars suck...not the case.
3) Your claimed time of 6:40 around the long Nurburgring in a modded street car is horse shit...this is where my money lies.
4) You have the baddest cars on the planet earth and can run perfect laps in every one of them, in your sleep, every time. This isn't out of the question but, if 3 isn't the case, it has to be this one...
I ran multiple laps in my Skyline and got mid/high 7s on a kinda clean lap while not knowing the track hardly at all. I'd have a tough time breaking 7 min. "Well...maybe your infamous Skyline is just a peesashit!" A) No way...I've tromped many-a-car with it. B) I didn't JUST run laps in the Skyline. I also ran some laps in my friggin AUDI R1! The best handling and braking car on the game! I'd STILL have a hell of a time breaking 7 min...let alone the 6:50s. If I got really familiar with the track, that'd help a lot...I'm sure I could break into the 6 min realm but it'd be damn tough.
So...I want proof. Run a lap, pause the game and take a pic with your phone or something of the screen that comes up showing the car used and the best lap time...if it is as you say, you are thereby christened the Nurburgring Mack Daddy.

I have no real experience in the IT field besides the fact that I am going to Devry right now to get my bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering. Once I get about half way through my engineering degree which I have about another year, full time, I have the choice of taking a couple more classes to get my Associates in Computer and Networking Technology. So basically the IT degree is on my way to my engineering degree.
As for getting into IT, this job kind of fell into my lap, at least being eligible. My mother works for the school district and came across the opening being offered to existing school district faculty. So she got me the interview pretty much and it is up to me to actually get the job.
As for the IT field, it is a very open field that ranges from many different jobs. If you are after a job in it I would find a school that offers a Computer and Networking Technology degree which in it contains an IT certification but also open the door for many other options, career wise. I would imagine it would be hard-pressed to get a job without a degree unless you have someone that can get in the front door because there are a lot of people that have and are getting this degree but getting a degree is pretty fast and can be worked around your current work schedule at most technology schools. If you have a knack for computers go for it, it is a good way to get your foot in the door and seems to be a pretty a quick process of moving up the ladder into a better paying career. I am hoping to get this job and use it as a stepping stone as to when I receive my bachelors in engineering I make a direct leap up the ladder in the school district.

wrong cars...hadn't looked for a while. 6:58 was a p1 car. 7:35 was with the 911. i can only run perfect laps around the ring with that car. every other car i have is either the way it was at the "dealer" or modded just not tuned.
7:35 is believable when u consider that's what the 997 turbo runs in real life, and being a game, yes it's off, but this is a 700+hp car, not 480hp like the real car. 6:58 was with the audi r8 race car

i ran the ring with two "off the lot" cars. not a single thing done...other than a white paint job on one of the cars
Pagani Zonda: 7:46
Ferrari F40: 7:48
not the most powerful cars, nor the beest handling cars in the game, both posted times of upper 7mins. not bad. all i did was run one base lap and a second all out lap. two in all for both. i've done it several times. i'm also about to buy a nissan r34(v spec) run it stock, then mod it. i'll let u know what i can get.

That sounds about right now. I gaurantee I could whomp the 911's time in the Skyline if I learned the track a little more. The Skyline's almost a thousand horsepower and tuned just like the Calsonic Skyline race car. I'm sure I could break 7 min if I learned the track a little more and did a good lap.
Best off the lot car on the game is the Koenigsegg CCGT, hands down.
K3: So, basically, go to school? I'm definately going back to school when I turn 25.

i bought the gtr34, got like a 8:36 out of it stock. havent modded it yet...christmas day happened. i did buy stuff for it. i wanna say it has 800+hp, i think i uped the engine to a racing engine. not like just the race block, but engine swap wise i think it's a the 480hp engine u get in the gtc cars. i have a day or so to play with it, i'll c wat i can get done.
my 997 is set up between the gt2(997) and the gt3 race cars(997). it's got tonnes of grip, has never spun on me, unless i purposely did it. 10% tq to the front 90 to the rear. i've actually had a friend over and he's played forza 2 a lot, owns it himself. he raced around laguna seca in a 997gt3 and my 911(551hp setting) beat him.
i just did buy a cayman, not the best car with 600hp and no tuning

That would be to buy one. They are kinda cheap so I could buy two and take the best parts out of them to make one. Sounds like a good idea to me. Still there is a lot of time ahead of me before I do it so why bother plan or rather dream about it.

oh, fair enough... they are pretty cheap, and depending on import laws in your country (which is ...?) you can get a Very well maintained z31 for a good price.
if you're in the states they're quite plentiful, depending on your location, they seem to be RAMPANT in florida for some reason.

Well import isn't a bad idea but I'd have to pay about 800$ for shipment. I can get a not bad z31 for ~ 2-3k$ here so I don't think it's worth it.

japanese cars seem to be a bit thin on the ground in the eastern European countries I noticed.
Maciek, Your best best would be to source something from the UK probably and then take a massive road trip and drive it home. A road trip from the UK to Poland would be AWESOME! K3 did you get your Z back?
I got my Z back, drove it for about 200 miles and sold it. I am going to school and working full time and just didn't want to deal with all of the issues that comes along with owning a Z, and once I had to sell the GTP I was left with 1 car, the Z. Not only was the car not running properly and needed new turbos, I couldn't drive it 3 or 4 months out of the year and I couldn't trust it on a daily basis without a back up plan to get to work and school. So I decided to sell the car, which it did sell a couple of weeks ago.
I am actually in the process of finishing up a deal to snag a B5 Audi S4 that I will be using as my DD. I will own a project car once again once I graduate or at least if my life slows down to allow me the time to devote some attention to the project. The question is, will it be an FD or a 300zx or I could go a whole new route and buy another Yamaha R1. Only time will tell...
I will still be around and I still have a strong passion for Z cars, just not purple Z's. :D j/k DZ.

91 Nissan Sentra SE-R: The new daily driver bought for cheap is getting decent gas mileage and received a set of cheap Rotas and Kumhos that have made this lightweight vehicle a stupid fuck ton of fun to drive.
89 Nissan 240SX: Still sitting with a blown motor however a replacement engine has been acquired and is awaiting installation approximately whenever I get around to it.
95 Nissan 300ZX Twin Turbo: This one has benefited from large infusions of cash and time. A set of 4.10 gears and a Quaife helical differential await install as does a full range of urethane bushings, metal bushings, adjustable suspension components and a set of SPL coilovers. A pair of GT2854R turbos and SZ 3" downpipes have been ordered and await shipping. Pending a move to a new job and a $15,000 a year raise a roll bar, harness, brake kit and some mad tyte whizziles are being looked into. Much of the car is being sorted out, rerouted, rewired and modified, starting up front with some custom aero work and removing of unwanted parts.

Much of the car is being sorted out, rerouted, rewired and modified, starting up front with some custom aero work and removing of unwanted parts.

Made my own intercooler ducts and I'm working on some duct work for the radiator. Next I'm pulling off the plastic under trays up front and make one large flat under tray from some sheet aluminum. I'm working on the back and a way to incorporate some kind of diffuser. Also an air damn splitter for the front should I ever get out to the track.

Anyone know where I can get a missing hubcap other than paying for dealer prices?
I tried centercaps.net (http://www.centercaps.net) but they did not have my specific one in stock.
thanks

Sounds sweet broke. I still need to learn to weld. I could save a large fortune by fabricating some of my own parts for the Audi.
I have taken quite a turn in hobbies and have recently gotten into photography. Beings I cannot afford to modify cars like I want to I figure the healthy thing to do is find a new hobby. Just bought a Nikon D40 and have spent every free minute reading books upon books about photography.

What year is the S4? That is my dream car. Unless of course I can get an RS4. We have an old lady at FSU here in Tallahassee that hot-rods around in a black RS4. Best engine sound on a street car period.

B5 S4. 2000. 2.7L Bi-turbo. I'd like to own an RS4 but for the money there are probably many cars I would purchase before it.

Sorry, I didn't mean to piss all over your dreams.
I assume you are talking about the new RS4. Anyways, BMW M3, Maybe a Corvette, Acura NSX, and a few others. The thing is that if I had that much money to spend I wouldn't spend it all on one car. I would buy a BMW M3 or keep my S4, and build a second car or buy a bike.

Well I have just bought the beast that is a GT Starlet :evillol:
Well its actually a standard starlet with a GT engine swapped in but fuck it, its close enough.
Its a bit rough atm but all it really needs is time spent on it to fix it.... And new front and rear bars... the current ones are hideous.

88 Z 2+2 survived a run in with a big rig a few weeks ago-- on the interstate. got clipped after passing on the right. small dent next to the taillight and a few scratches on my bumper. taillight is not even cracked. go figure. His bumper was bent in 2 inches for the first foot on the pass side. Did I mention it was an old Mack truck?
88 pulsar 1.8l still sitting in driveway on blocks-- new engine (JDM import) now locked up from (I'm assuming) rust. Oh well-- the thing makes a better tool shed than a car. . .
06 Freestlye-- wife is still trashing it with our 5 kids.. . Value keeps plummeting like a turbo-boosted rock with a death wish. man, I wish I could sell it. . . .

Just stick a big damn rock in your garage so you can't use it for anything else. Cover the rest of your garage in smaller rocks of various sizes. Throw the smaller rocks at the big rock for about an hour a day, everyday. Occasionally drop one of the medium sized rocks on your hand or foot. Take all of your money and grind it into the big rock with a smaller rock.
Should be about the same

There is a Nissan Quest family van that has been sitting in our garage for more than 5 years. We just didn't need to use the van anymore, and just left it in the garage. It hasn't been used in all this time. I want to use it now. The battery is dead and the tires have deflated. What else will be wrong with it?
Can I just jump start it and refill the air in it? Will be calling triple A (insurance) tomorrow to come jump start it, but it may have other problems. What can I expect?
Any help appreciated, thanks!

This is the past Z car forum...not the Quest forum but beings your question is not Quest particular, I will say that fluids will need to be changed immediately. I assume there was nothing wrong with the van before you parked it? If this is the case, then change fluids and charge battery it could be as simple as that. Tires are probably dry-rotted so those will need replaced in the very near future.

The problem with a rock is that even on the rare occasion that it does need not be in the garage and is actually able to be enjoyed, all pain will subside for that brief instant when it is just right.
