The intercoolers are so tall that it was a tight fit to get the turn signals back in without the ducts so there is no way it's going to fit with them on. That and the ducts don't quite reach all the way to the grill up front. I have a used set so maybe they were cut or something but just from looking at everything I'm thinkin the system may have been designed around the Jspec fascia.
Even to get the turn signals in I had to leave only one of three intercooler mounting bolts in and bend the bracket a bit to angle the outside edge of the intercooler down. If I played with it more I might be able to get everything to fit better but for now it works. If nothing else I was thinking about getting a second set of stock ducts and cutting them up to extend the ashspec ducts out to the front bumper. Power increase was worth it, especially in the top end.
very good to hear. once i get my car running and get the body straightened out these and fuel injectors are next. i think i vaguely remember reading something about the ducts were designed for the Jspec fascia.

Looks to be, I figure I'll just extend them with the front half of the stock ducts, notch out the top outside corner for the turn signals and call it good.
Hmmm...odd. So this is what it's like to be on the other side of the "Owner of a running Z talking to a guy with a hugely incomplete project" deal.
On a side note, given that the 240 is still down and the Z is driven almost every day, I've put almost 10,000 miles on it since last July.

 yeah, i cant stand having my car not drivable, but that should all change soon enough. 10k miles? how many miles did you put on it when it blew? you must be driving a lot over the last couple of months because i thought you i remember you saying you had put less than 100miles on it before it blew.

when red/clear they look good, especially with an LED conversion... if you remove the bumperettes on the 87+ there's no place to put the lisence plate...

blasphemy...liscense plates are overrated. just set it in the back window.
BTW: have a pic of the pre 87 with red/clear with an LED conversion?

I got 18 miles with it before it ate a piston. The other 10,000 have been since July. It's the daily driver right now so it gets the 50 commute miles a day. So far everything is fine but then I dropped thousands on OEM parts while the engine was out so just about all the various gaskets, sensors, wiring and etc are new, no reason to encounter any problems. And I scored a Apexi SAFCII off the classifieds, new in the box for $100 off retail price, so I'll finally get rid of the last of the erratic idle that comes with the dual intake setup. Dual MAF here I come. Get some wide bands and I'm headed to the dyno.

In 1995, the introduction year for the DN1 Cobalt Green paint, the Z hit a stage of perfection with the updated Twin Turbo wing, a five speed and a black leather interior. Because fucking sweetness of this caliber is rare, it is fitting that only 48 such cars were ever produced. But here are the pictures you are looking for:

I have to admit that the whole package of clear lights and the JDM front fascia (perhaps along with a particular set of side skirts of a brand I can't seem to recall at the moment) looks good in dark green. To be totally honest the front end could use some paint, the hood is rock chip central and there are some noticable scratches here and there. However the cost of parts plus paint, labor and etc...well, fuck that. That's enough to buy a full suspension upgrade, a four corner big brake kit or another couple sets of tires. If I ever got a stupid amount of money together with nothing good to do with it and I was going to get the entire car sanded and repainted then I might spring for the extra body bits because even I'll admit it makes the car look very modern and sleek. But that's a long way off.

always did like Zboost's car. are you thinking of Kaminari side skirts? they are about the only sideskirts i like anymore besides the Stillen Type III's i think they are. but on 2 seaters the best combo is the Stillen front lip/99 JDM fascia+Kaminari Sideskirts+ shaved bumper guard in the rear.
if i were you broke, i would just get the Stillen front lip w/ kaminari sideskirts. i think i like that look the best.

Eh, the stillen lip doesn't look as good on the darker colors, though it looks pretty sweet on super white.
I looks to be the Kaminari side skirts I was thinking of, they kind of have the same angular style that the Jspec front bumper does. Though there is a 99 Jspec set of side skirts that naturally follow the front fascias styling exactly and that would likely be the option I'd go for. Or maybe those side skirts that have the small hole with mesh right infront of the rear wheel.
This is all kind of moot since there is a huge amount of evil that would be done under the hood before I'd even think of something as simple as respraying the hood, much less getting any aftermarket body panels.

so...I was doing my usual flipping through channels while taking a quick break from writing yet another grueling research paper for school, when i saw what i thought was a Z32 on television. Sure enough, it was VH1 and they were playing music videos. The music video was Ice T's "Walking In the Rain", I personally am not a fan of the music or much of anything of the like but if you do happen to catch this particular video, definitely take a look at it. The whole video is a cartoon/artistic view and the 300zx is a drawing but you can definitely tell it is a 300zx lined up against another car like they were getting ready to street race. It eve changes the view to the top of the car so you can see the t-tops. I just thought it would be worth sharing as you don't see things like these with Z's in them. Makes you wonder why they chose this car to draw or put into the scene somehow.

it was just a joke. you are a little over-sensitive about your non-masculine car color selection. i don't care what color your car is, i was just having a little fun. if you haven't read it yet, (link below) the fifth line is the most important.

UNLUCKY!!!!
Well in 3 days time my new MR2 should be arriving in Perth :grinyes: I wont be able to drive it but at least it will be here. The only question now is what engine to put into it.
There are 3 options and by 3 I mean 2 real options.
1. Leave massively modded engine in there. Not really an option because my girlfriend wont need/want/appreciate the power and design of it. And it wont exactly be good on petrol which to her is quite important as it will be her DD.
2. Go and by a halfcut for $1500 or so grab what I need out of it and sell the rest off for $500 so it would cost me ~ $1000 for a used engine with however many kms on it and it whatever condition it came in. pros, would be the cheapest option. Cons, cant guarentee the best quality engine, though my mate would fix it up if need be.
3. Mate has an already built engine sitting on a stand at his house. here are the stats on it:
I have a rebuilt Gen II 3SGTE here courtesy of a non paying customer.
Included goodies:
Gen II block selected for low corrosion and good condition, damage free bores. Acid bathed, decked, honed and painted
Standard Gen II pistons, selected for low wear and good condition
Standard Gen II rods
Standard Gen II crankshaft, crack tested and polished
New bearings and piston rings
Gen II head, Acid bathed, faced, ground valves and seats, reset shims, new valve stem seals
ACL Race Series steel head gasket
All internal tolerances checked / tested
http://www.wtfauto.com.au/images/news/2006/Temp%20engine%20for%20sale.jpg
Pros, I can get the engine for $2000 which is VERY cheap for what it is. It will be reliable and still uses mainly stock parts which will be more than Janine will ever need. And I wont have to dick about with finding an engine. Cons: I still dont really want to be spending that much on an engine that wont be mine.
Thoughts?

Thoughts?

any of you guys solve a rubix cube without a move by move simulator? i just bought one today as it was a challenge by a friend that i could not solve one. this is my first time ever trying or even looking at a rubix cube for more than a second or 2. he challenged me because he hasn't found a mind challenging game that he can beat me at. anyways, just curious if any of you guys have actually took the time to learn the sequences and solve it.

Z31's good...of course...lol. The shocks are SO bad on it now that it's not even funny (if I give it too much gas, my mud flaps drag...not to mention it's kinda like driving a boat) but other than that, it's still goin more than strong.
I'm still in Northern Kenfucky. I was going to move to Louisville but I dunno if that's going to happen now...ever...my girlfriend lives down there but I have a pretty decent-ish job up here which makes it hard to leave. Plus we think she's pregnant so I doubt I'll be moving any time soon. It's all good though. I'm excited.
All is doing pretty well though. You guys?

Not yet. Just sitting on it for now...still. Still have the thing in storage so it's all good. Just been really busy recently and it's kinda gotten pushed to the back burner. I've been really focusing on music...just dropped a little over 600 bucks on a new guitar (http://www.ibanez.com/eg/guitar.aspx?m=RGT6EXFX) and music's been kinda pretty much all I've cared about recently as far as hobbies go...but I still have the VG and I haven't forgotten about it.

true that...i should have been more careful with those stairs. not because my car would have got done any quicker but because when it was done it would have been extremely powerful with nothing overlooked. i would still be just as broke but i would at least have something to show for it.
the Z has left a nasty taste in my mouth so i think my next crappy investment will be an Audi S4, the new one with the V8. and my play car once i can afford to do so will be nothing other than a Twin Turbo NSX. :D

~50F and mostly clear here. Plenty of cool air for the turbos and just enough heat and sun to keep the road warm and dry. With the test pipes in the the boost comes on with anything but the lightest touch on the throttle and the car pulls amazingly hard all the way to redline. Couple that with a new set of sticky tires. Did I mention I've found a bunch of great twisty mountain roads close enough to the new office that I can tear a few up on my lunch break?

its sitting right around 32 degrees F here. which means all of this precipitation is none other than the form of freezing rain. which also means you cannot go outside without good protection over your skin because freezing rain f***ing hurts. it also means that if you have the need to go anywhere the best route is to get behind the nearest salt truck and hope he is plowing the slush before it freezes.
oh yeah...did i mention we have received about 4 inches of freezing rain over the past 2 days. thats right...some roads that have not had the salt treatment nor the privilege of having high volume traffic have a nice thick 4 inches of ice sitting on top of it. can hardly stand on some of the streets without falling let alone drive. most side streets are filled with children ice skating. and yes i am not being sarcastic. picture your neighborhood as a giant ice rink. hockey goals on ever corner.
oh and Travis, the cold isn't really bothering me all that much as i have nothing to look forward to yet. no GSXR 1000 nor 300zx yet so the weather can stay shitty for all i care. it would be nice to be able to hit the golf course and get some fresh air though i guess. i have enjoyed getting decently good at pool and discerning exactly how much alcohol i can consume without blacking out. thats a handy piece of information. mistakes are made when i drink "too" much...as one may conclude from some of the sig quotes running around here.
well there is my life story. enjoy.

NICE MILD FIFTEEN!?! FUCK that shit, man. I HATE cold. I think it got up to the mid 40s here today and I was like...thank God. If I lived where 15 was NICE, I think I'd either be suicidal or a total alcoholic. Like, if I lived in the Buffalo, NY area, I'd kill my self. The Syracuse area got ~15 FEET of snow over the past couple months. There's no way. Why ANYONE would live there is beyond me. Saw dude on the weather channel that had to shovel his roof...no big deal...what was insane about it was that, all he had to do to get up there was WALK UP THE SNOW DRIFT...no thanks...

15 degrees celcius would be friggen sweet. BUt it sucks here in SD, one week 30 - 0 degrees (f) next week 40 or so (mud), next week 30-0 degrees. I hate these friggen drastic weather changes like that.
Getting stuck in the snow one week, stuck in the mud the next, then stuck in the snow again the next week really sucks.
