Would you guys consider a '93 'Vert Automatic a pussy car?

-Wes

Wesley... buy it... you need a fucking Zed! Drive it around for a few... meanwhile buy a VG30DETT and beef it up (along with a tranny of your choice!)...

Drop the VG30DE, stick in the monster VG30DETT (for sleeper affect: KEEP IT AT!) and go whoop some ass!

the only reason i would get a 'vert is because of the rarity, i don't like the hatchless look at all. plus, they are the heaviest z32 out there.

save the money and just get yourself a Z...you can get a nice Z31T for a couple grand!!! drive that until you can afford the exact Z32 you want...its really not trying to buy a car and then make it what you want unless that is the only way to get it to how you want. for example, Z32 Twin Turbo Slicktop....you have to make that.

Well here is the thing... I've just come across money... Lots, and lots... Of money. Enough to buy a 350Zed.

So this is what my mind is stinging me with... Buy the '93 'Vert. Take it down to Prestige (best autobody shop in town, where I took the Civic after the wreck) get it re-painted, get Fairlady Fascia, STILLEN rear valence and sideskirts installed.

Then for the fun part... Ship it on down to Georgia, get Z1 to put in a Zero Mileage fully rebuilt Twin Turbo powertrain with five-speed. No problems at all then. Before they do the transmission, I'll send it out to get cryogenically treated, and race built, with a nice sports clutch in it.

Then Im going to pick up some very expensive racing wheels... I havent decided on which yet.

Then the interior is getting fully done... New carpet, leather,Sparco Torino racing seats, Carbon Fiber (real) everything, and a custom made roll cage.

Im going to get a Quick Change rear-end installed, so I can change the gears anywhere from Non-Turbo close, to Twin Turbo wide.

Fairlady taillights, headlights, straight-back exhaust with clean mufflers (try to keep them looking stock as possible). I've also got to track down a hardtop... The soft top on this one is a bit rotten.

All of the body work, interior work, and miscellanious work will be done prior to shipping to Z1... So what I am going to try and get them to do, is before the engine is assembled, get the engine components powder coated to my color specification. Have slightly larger turbos installed, with JWT Pop-Chargers, ECU, 555cc Injectors, underdrive pulleys for crank and accessories, fully built racing head, with APR headstuds, and racing timing belt.

... That will about diminish my twenty some odd thousand dollars. But well worth it.

... I'll probably end up getting a 350Zed though, much easier. But only the summer will tell.

Actually that sounds more like $30,000 Wes, probably more given you're having someone else to most of the work. Engine work and parts alone probably get to the $10,000-$15,000 range.

Anyway, want some advice? Take the money and invest in something long term. Then forget it exists. As someone who is blowing stupid amounts of money on a car, I can tell you that there is utterly no good reason to do it, the best I can come up with at the moment is "I wanted to". Thats a pretty stupid reason.

agreed...i dont see nothing wrong with doing it but pace yourself. do this much this year and this much next year...set yourself some goals, instead of just going out and blowing $30,000 and then 2 months later, say, it would be nice to have a couple grand lying around so you could get a good start on college. thats the way i would approach it...having lots of money could blow up in your face. i know a guy that inherited $750,000 and now he works at a factory making $12 an hour trying to afford to live because he went buckwild and it was gone in 3 years. what an idiot!!!

Well here is the thing guys...

My father and I have made a deal, that if I agree to work for him through-out college... He will basically buy me any car I desire (under $25,000)

So he is buying me the car sometime over the summer, and I will spend the next years of my life repaying my debt to him. I will only be working two or three days a week for him, and working 6 days a week at the grocery store paying for insurance and parts.

And believe me, if I get a car this badass, there is no chance of me getting rid of it...

But I will never get another Zed32 unless it is PERFECT... Which means the easiest way to go about a worry free engine, is to get a fully rebuilt one :D

But we'll see... I'll probably end up with a G35 or 350Zed, much easier and efficient.

I've just had my fill of Zed32 headaches Delerious... And Im not taking on another unless it is in perfect condition.

And whats wrong with a 350Zed?

I vote we impeach, Wesley as mod and give it to a real ZED fan! LoL

C'mon, Wes! Your totally dissing the PZC by not getting another Z32! I guess a Z33 is better than nothing though... they grow on me more every day. Shit... it's up to you, Wes. I mean having a nice, pimped, reliable, brand new car would be the shit... but think how much more fun you would have doing it old-school!

ZedEx
02-04-2005, 01:19 PM
George you've got to remember... I've done it old school three Zeds in a row, and I know how tough and how not fun it is.

My next Zed32 will be perfect in every aspect... Zero mileage engine, turbos, transmission, differential, body, suspension, steering system, electrical system... I mean everything.

Even if it means a 1990 Non-Turbo costs me $20,000, then so be it.

But by no means will I ever buy a higher mileage Zed32 again...

If I find a 1996 Twin Turbo with... Lets say under 15,000miles, with perfect paint, absolutely no flaws at all... And I take it to the local 300ZedX shop, and they run a COMPLETE diagnostics on it, and turns back nothing. Then yes, I will drop $25,000 like 'that'.

But otherwise... Hell no.

I've got months to think about it guys, dont go shunning me quite yet :p

Ooooo I got chills looking at this thing :D

Silver Bullet (http://z1-motorsports.com/imageGallery/view_album.php?set_albumName=album06&page=1)

And at a slim $30,000 who can turn this down

Well I talked to Z1 today... They said they could do a Twin Turbo swap in the 'Vert for $5,900. He said the full rebuild wouldnt be all that wise, seeming as the engines are in prestine order as they are, and it would add another $4,200 or so on top of the price.

The 450bhp kit would stack on another $1,600 or so installed. I would do the Fairlady front fascia, STILLEN rear valence and side skirts, fairlady taillights, and headlights...

And as it turns out, there is no hardtop made for the 'Vert... Might have to wait on that. Custom jobs like that tend to be very expensive.

So I think I've something to shoot for

-Wes

DeleriousZ
02-04-2005, 03:45 PM
you'd drop the 1500 bucks into the new headlights? that's quite a bit of cash for the xenon projectors or whatever they are... 6500 bucks seems like kind of a lot for 450bhp... actually, not so bad that i think about it... but wouldn't you rather have a 600 rwhp monster?:evillol:

i dunno, i can understand where you're coming from on the 350z... having a brand new no hastle high hp car with all the modern amemities.. probably better gas mileage. then again, that means no modifying.. or not much incase it needs to be taken in under warrantee. just don't pull a civic on it and toss it over a hill!!

And at a slim $30,000 who can turn this down

Provided everything engine wise is sorted correctly, that would probably be cheaper than you could build that car yourself.

Well I talked to Z1 today... They said they could do a Twin Turbo swap in the 'Vert for $5,900. He said the full rebuild wouldnt be all that wise, seeming as the engines are in prestine order as they are, and it would add another $4,200 or so on top of the price.

So is there a little smilie for "ripoff"? If you can pull the heads off a VG then you can swap a TT engine, save thousands of dollars. And hell, for $4200 you better be CNCing me a new fucking block out of aluminum. I'm getting a full deck, heat coat, hone, head rebuild, balance and polish job for my engine and its going to be around $1750 and that is total, parts and labor. And don't forget you are here and Z1 is there. Any shipping/driving required is going to add up the total bill.

The 450bhp kit would stack on another $1,600 or so installed. I would do the Fairlady front fascia, STILLEN rear valence and side skirts, fairlady taillights, and headlights...

The 450hp kit is fairly straight but the body pieces...well to each his own on that deal but thats going to be a few thousand just for the parts and then you still have to paint the damn thing.

So I think I've something to shoot for

Not to be too much of an asshole but given what you have up there, the only thing you'll be shooting is your foot.

Sorry Broke... Thats just how I feel about it.

Im sick of working on Zed32's... I dont feel like doing the swap myself, nor do I plan to.

You know, not everyone has the means to have a car sitting in their garage with two engines laying around it, for months on end. I do not have that luxury.

Instead, I have a father who wants it to be simple, and he wants someone else to do the building, so that he doesnt have to look at it.

I kind of agree with him too... I get stressed out just thinking about working on one of those cars again... And I would just prefer have someone else do it.

Not that big of a deal in my eyes...

Its not that I dont know how to... Its just that I dont desire to.

Well I was really fearing it... My brother got his out a year ago, and his were bad. He was coughing up blood, and sobbing like a little bitch

And this scared me, because my brother is an All American badass, built like a monster, all tough and determined, blah blah blah.

But all I remember was I was in the Oral Surgeons office, they had me hooked up to some Nitrous Oxide. So I was a little 'iffy' and I rememeber I was hitting on one of the nurses in there, and all of the other ones were cracking up.

Then all I remember after that was all of the nurses were naked and they started to... Wait... No thats not right.

Ok, nevermind, the next thing I remembered was being on the sunroom couch and having to take a piss... Apperently I had been out since 10:00am and it was now 5:00pm. So my dad helped me up to go to the bathroom... I passed out three times on the way there. And twice while attempting to go

But after that all wore off, its been ok. No pain... Just some swelling in my jaw, I look funny... But thats about the extent.

Anyways, theres a pretty badass car for sale down at the beach... I'll post pics when I get on next.

THE ALMIGHTY & UNFORTUNATE
NISMO R390
7-5-2003
An Ian Callum design, this is probably the best Nissan ever. It was rushed into racing to quickly in 1997 and because of this, it was unreliable, but undoubtably quick. The 1998 cars saw several changes. A longer tail for an increase in downforce was adapted over the stump of the 97 car, front brake ventilation was improved, as well as small improvements to the front Aero and curing of reliabilty issues. 3 cars in the top 10 in 1998 was a big step forward, but the rules changed and the R390 was dropped for a new open top R391 in 1999. The Fairlady/300zx headlights are a nice touch too. My favorite car of all time.
What a BEAST!!

It was a shame that Tony Southgate didn't think to pull off a Toyota-style story about the lack of luggage space in the first incarnation, because I think that if they didn't have to rearrange all of the oil coolers and stuff they could've given the Joest and the factory Porsches a run for their money at LeMans '97. I was SO GLAD that all four R390s finished in the top ten at LeMans in '98.
Looks Brilliant !!!!

Is this the one you were talking about? The Nissan R390 GT1 Road?

http://img217.exs.cx/img217/341/151015gh.jpg

I still want one.......

The fastest and most expensive Nissan road car ever developed was created to comply with the Le Mans GT1 Class regulations which required manufacturers to build at least one street-legal version of the race car. Unlike many others, Nissan built the road car first and built the racing version from it. The R390 GT1 design was the work of Ian Callum at Tom Walkinshaw Racing, previously acclaimed as the designer of the Aston Martin DB7. He was recently appointed Chief Designer for Jaguar.

At the front, Callum used headlamps from the 300ZX production sports car and the distinct twin front grilles which gives the R390 GT1 a Nissan ‘family’ look. The R390 GT1’s long-tail carbon fibre shape was honed during extensive scale model wind-tunnel testing in England and full-size testing of the actual vehicle at Nissan Technical Centre in Atsugi, Japan.

Behind the driver sits the heart of this true supercar – Nissan’s VRH35L twinturbocharged 3.5-litre double-overhead-camshaft 560bhp V8 engine. Getting that power to the ground from a standing start, out of corners or in damp conditions is a challenge and the R390 GT1 features a launch control system and traction control which, when encountering wheelspin, reduces power by limiting fuel to individual engine cylinders.

Inside are normal road car appliances such as full instrumentation and leather-covered driver and passenger racing seats. The short-throw gear lever for the Xtrac six-speed sequential gearbox and tiny racing steering wheel are reminders of the close alliance between the road car and the vehicle which captured four out of the top-ten spots in the 1998 Le Mans 24-hour race.

Underneath the all-carbon fibre chassis is upper and lower A-arm suspension with coil springs at all four corners, inboard shock absorbers and front and rear anti-roll bars. Braking is handled by huge AP 14-inch vented front and rear disc brakes with six piston calipers and ABS.

The jagged graph in the upper rpm range would suggest some air/fuel ratio problems or knocking or something. That is what a dyno is really good for.

Anyway, wisdom teeth? Are you guys kidding me? I had all mine out at one time and I was back at work that night. Yea Im racing the Civic... It should be fun.

After I get the new Road Car, the Civic is staying under the roof as the Race Car. Basically, Im going to gut it completely, 6point roll cage, remove the sun roof, lower it almost to the ground (Three inch ground clearance is required) with suspension components to accomidate that adjusted ride height. No engine modifications at all though. Only powertrain modification would be new race CV Joints, and sports clutch.

Anyways... Guys I hate to say it, but I think the 350Zed idea is looking mighty fine... Im going to look at this Silver one tommarow.

2003 Silver Touring edition 6Speed, with navigation, leather interior, power everything, 12,500miles... And lets not forget the VOLK Racing wheels :evillol:

All for $20,800... My father told me to go down and offer a slim $18,500... If he bites, we're reeling it in.

Doubt he will though... Thats a little low for that car.

But at least Im getting a Zed car... And not that Supra :p

id rather you buy a 350z than a supra but i really think you should buy a very low mileage newer Z32TT...shop around wes. if you want a Z32, buy a z32. get a Z32 for about $15-$18k and then keep the civic for daily purposes...and then on the way to the Z meet next year, ill swoop by and get ya on my way...im not cruising with no trader 350z owner.

that brings me to another point: where and when is the EZCA or whatever that is???
