and i am back home after a week of delight. glad to be off the ship but not so happy to be back home. ship was getting boring...it is like a portable city but it does get old after 7 days. 5 day cruise would be primo i suppose.

No, I know of the banter thread in the Camaro forums, the original one, was locked at 7,500 posts. Part 2 is closing in on 5k really fast too.

it used to be alot busier through here...but a few left. a few visit not as frequently and then some are just bored with this particular forum, i suppose.

This is still a pretty large thread, the Camaro forum banter thread gets to 5k in just a couple of months, but like said there is a lot more traffic...Well mostly me and Rally, we each have over 800 posts in the new thread.

I was trying to get over a lane after getting on the highway and this piece of spouge was in my way. So I accidently left it in second and my foot fell all over the gas pedal. The sound that thing makes at 5000 rpm is abso-fuckin-lutely OUTSTANDING...not to mention I went from 30 to 70 in about two seconds. And thats just sitting on the waste gate spring at 6 psi. This is going to be enjoyable.

I don't know about that, a bike is always going to be faster but I have to admit that even now while I'm making a very concerted effort to take it easy on the car it's still a hell of a thing to drive. Each one is going to be it's own kind of fun.

The problem with it wanting to stall at idle turned out to be the connection between the hardpipe from the air filters and the accordian hose to the turbo inlet. Apparently I didn't get them pushed on far enough so when I tightened the clamps they were pinched off or something. Got that fixed and while the idle is still a bit erratic, which is probably the cams since they're pulling more air at idle than stock, it runs 100% better now.

I did my emissions test yesterday...and failed.

Was it those big cams? No...

Was it the EGR and pre-cats that happened to fall off somewhere during the course of reassembly? No...

Was it the idle that tends drift? No...

It was my ****ing gas cap. They do a pressure test to measure how many fumes from the tank leak past the cap. Mine failed. But then proceeding on to the actual 25 mph cruise and idle test, my car passed with flying colors.

Hydrocarbons (HC) in parts per million (PPM):

At cruise, limit 150, my car came in at 9.

At idle, limit 220, my car pulled 8.

Carbon monoxide (CO) as a percentage of the exhaust volume:

At cruise, limit 1%, I did .01%.

At idle, limit 1.2%, my car registered 0%.

Ran my happy ass down to CarQuest and picked up a $10 replacement cap, slapped it on and went back to get the new cap tested so I could get a passing record. I'll just take all that to mean that I put everything back together correctly, that the break in is going well and that my compression should be awesome.

I'm glad I don't have to pass emissions here in Kentucky!

Yeah, I just passed my last emissions here a few weeks ago. They just passed a law saying cars 96 and older don't have to have emissions anymore! Yay for decent lawmakers.

yeah, emissions suck...only place i know of that has emissions testing in illinois is the city of chicago. i can pass as much gas as i want...

btw: broke, are you pretty impressed that your car passed so easy? im impressed that it did so well but i have heard it is not uncommon for the VG to pass with everything removed.

you are copying and pasting the thumbnail instead of the actual picture.

make sure you resize the image to the size you want before hosting it. then copy the url of the picture itself, not the thumbnail.
