Yea, D. I posted the pic of that car from another page and it had all those pics on it. Didn't post it cuz...eh...I dunno...didn't think about it...I guess...lol. I think the car looks kinda goofy with the rear tires fucking up the stance (but function over form so it's all good) and the Spiderman on the hood...wtf is up with that? Anyway...thanks for the fyi, man! :biggrin:

Why the HELL would you put carbs on an FI'ed car?! I've NEVER heard of such a thing! I've heard of tons of people FI'ing their carb'd car, but NEVER the other way around! Keep the FI, man! It's one of the greatest things to ever come along for cars. No choke (stupid high idle in the morning), better economy, better reliability, lower emissions, easier to tune, more consistant performance, the list goes on and on and on and on and on and on.....

Plus...that's a TON of money for those carbs! I was amazed! Keep the FI and slap some FI on it...:biggrin:

FI = fuel injection
FI = forced induction
Duuuuuuuuuuuuh...lol...j/k...

...now he's cute...lol...your pic's better, though. Damn 2 megapixel camera...it's not bad but if I made a pic the size of yours, it'd show its weakness...

just think, photobucket.com made me downsize it cuz the original image was too large. the originial image is 2592x1944 pixels and it still has really awesome quality.

How are things?

K3: Damm, just read up on what happened. Thats gotta suck!:banghead:

Hope you get better soon so you can get your Z ready so you can take me for a spin in it :lol:

New Zealand is AWESOME so far! I went on a Glacier walk the other day that was pretty sweet. Went for a swim in some Thermal Pools, drove a mini sprint car around a track and got the fastest time of the day :smokin: , went on a 1.5km flying fox, twice and yeah just generally been having a pretty killer time all up.

Im am FUCKING sick of driving in our hire car though. Its a shitty 2L automatic subaru liberty wagon. Gutless enough normally but when you have 4 ppl in it and a shitload of luggage going up a big hill, it blows so much ass... And it being an auto shits me so much. it never picks the gear i want. :banghead:

nice..but weak...Z32 is paid for correct? then just gradually save money for the S30.

if you were smart, you would buy yourself a rebuilt TT motor and pick up an auto TT trans with low mileage and do a TT swap in the Z32 and use it as a Daily Driver. then gradually build up the S30 to be a track slash weekend monster.

maybe thats smart to me because thats what i would like to do. except my Z32 would be highly modified street car and use my GTP as a DD.

Z32= highly modified street car
S30= highly modified track car
GTP= near stock Daily Driver

anyways good luck Georgy but dont be stupid...

Who said anything about me being smart? LoL

It was joke really... but the more I'm getting into these lil' S30's the more they intrigue me! and it's probablygoing to be the other way around: the Z32 is going to be the track monster/weekend car and the S30 is going to be the DD. My wish for owning two Z's is coming true!

i think my next project is gonna be a Porsche 944. would it be so bad to throw a LT1 into a porsche. the advantages far outweigh the diadvantages in my eyes...i just may. porsche owners are pricks anyways...

im thinking LT1 with a nice Supercharger blowing 8lb of boost down the throat. :evillol:

^I considered getting a 951 ( a 944 turbo) but unless they were really babied, than you're lookin at tons of money in maintenance...

If it wasn't a two seater, I'd get a delorean with lower miles and turbo it :naughty:

944s aren't high maintenance. Some Porsches are, but my dad's had 3 of them and never had any problems with them. One of these was actually the first car I ever drove.

Why the FUCKING HELL would you DEFILE a Porsche with an LT1?!?!?! Our poor Nissans have already damn near been over run with them! Damn Chevy engines are becoming the ubiquitous "hey...let's throw that in there" engine and it's driving me nuts!! Seems like EVERYTHING these days has a Chevy engine tossed into it. 240Zs, 260Zs, 280Zs, Z31s, Z32s, Chevy S-10s, old ass pickups, Jaguars, Astrovans, Volvos...not to mention Corvettes and Camaros! The list goes ON and ON and ON! Enough is enough, guys! Yea...they're good engines but LEAVE THEM IN CHEVYS FOR GOD'S SAKE! I wouldn't use an LT1 in ANYTHING JUST cuz it's HORRIBLY unoriginal at this point. It's even worse than RB swaps.

Plus, The 944 Turbos are as fast as Z32TTs stock for stock. Save yourself a ton of work and just mod a 944 Turbo...

Oh...and DeLoreans are dogs...people started swapping CADILLAC ENGINES into them so they'd actually go. It'd be cool to see one that's lowered and that would actually go...HEY...I GOT IT! LET'S THROW AN LT1 INTO IT!

exactly...N/A's are quite a bit more reliable.

and this isnt even considering a N/A 944. that isnt even an option...it would have to be a turbo model. the 944 turbo's are known to be unreliable and high maitenance. last time i checked you had to remove the front bumper to change the air filter. the car is a pain in the ass to work on and must be worked on often. timing belt needs changed every 30k miles.

944 turbo's only run about a mid 14 in the 1/4 mile...Z32TT's run low 14's high 13's.

i have driven a couple 944 turbo's and they are thrilling but no where near as quick as a TTZ.

an LT1 is easy, it makes good power, easy to work on, not too big or bulky...it just makes sense. i dont care if other people put it in whatever they want, i thought of it because it is simple and there is probably 15 of them sitting in a junk yard in my area with low mileage and i can pick it up for cheap. $400 with trans is a sweet deal...mostly because i know the guy. he has alot so he doesnt mind. i would go LS1 but he cant keep those in stock...

but i wouldnt ever throw an american motor into a Nissan but that is because nissan motors are affordable and attainable and they make good numbers.

yes, if i wanted power i could go grab a 968 4 cylinder motor that puts down some good power but at what costs. or i could buy a 944 turbo for $10k in pretty good condition and modify that.

or i could buy a N/A 944 that has problems for $2.5k, add the turbo front bumper and get a fresh paint job for $3k, and swap in a strong powerful motor with low mileage for less than $1000 and still be almost $4k ahead or to modify and play around with.

HEY...I GOT IT! LET'S THROW AN LT1 INTO IT!

i dont think the LT1 makes enough power to make a delorean be all that quick. it would definitely have to be modified...

xXxRocker5150
01-24-2006, 10:52 PM
the delorean engine isn't that bad... it's actually a volvo engine, but it has 8.5 to 1 compression ratio... perfect for turboing... now IDK if it has forged internals, but either way think about it like this; you'd be pushing like 200 horse 200 tq (assuming you can boost at like 5 or so PSI) and still get 28+ MPG

The whole Engine Swap "phenomenon" is just rediculously out of hand at this point. We have people putting all kinds of goofy shit in cars these days. Domestic engines in import cars is common now and *I* find it difficult to justify putting my VG30ET into a non-Z31 Z car!

I know what I'm going to do!!! JUST to be weird, I'm going to put my VG30ET in a CAMARO!!! HA HA HA HA HAAAAA! THAT'S what I think of THIS shit!!!!

I used to have an article in my favorites (damned www.aus300zxclub.com site...WHY DID YOU HAVE TO SHUT DOWN?!?! WHHHHHYYYYYY?!?!?! I loved their "magazine articles" section.) that was about EXACTLY this. The Z32(TT) came out at right about the same time that the 944(T) was at its end. The article compared the 2 cars and I was AMAZED that they were LITEREALLY NOSE AND NOSE in every test...on the track, in a straight line, etc. I didn't know the 944T was that fast. (The NA 944 is a dog. This is all my dad ever had. They go ok-ish if you get them with a manual trans, but they're still pigs. BUT...they do handle very well.) They described the Z and 944 as completely different means to the same end. When looking at the 2, the Z32 is heavy, plush, comfortable and kinda refined and the Porsche is lighter, smaller, and a bit more "bare bones" but neither could edge out the other in any way.

I did a nationwide search on autotrader.com for DeLoreans and found a whopping FIVE of them. Even if you were going to decide to play with one of those, good luck actually getting your hands on one. I was surprised how expensive they were, too...

This sucks so hard. I have to be at work at 10:30 today. I just started this new job at a mexican place called Abuelo's as a server. Part of my training is learning the menu...a VITAL part of being a server. BUT...THIS place has THE MOST COMPLICATED fucking menu *I* have EVER seen. I've been in restaurants since I was 15...I've done tons of stuff in restaurants...never really had a problem with a menu until now. For instance (this is also gunna help me remember this shit, I hope):

They have 6 different kinds of Enchiladas -
1. Cheese
2. Chicken
3. Ground Beef
4. Shredded Beef
5. Avocado
6. Spinach

...and on these 6 enchiladas there comes 6 different sauces -

A. Chili con Carne
B. Salsa de Crema
C. Chili con Queso
D. Salsa Ranchera
E. Colorado Sauce
F. Sour Cream Sauce

...What's the big deal, right? Well...there is NO fucking rhyme or reason to how this works. It's also in spanish which complicates stuff...Carne means meat (beef) so I keep trying to logically think the shit out like "well...the meat ones get carne sauce"...that would make sense...but they DON'T! Well...one does. Queso means cheese, so does the CHEESE enchilada get the CHEESE sauce? No...of course not...it gets meat sauce! It JUST doesn't make SENSE! Plus, how this all works is described on a few different papers they gave me but all those papers say different things! It's like THEY don't even know how this works!

Oh...and to top this all off, I have to learn all that (which is just a teeny weeny little part of their INSANE fucking menu...their combos are even MORE nuts...the "Grande" alone is SEVEN FUCKING ITEMS you have to know along with all their sauces, garnishes, what comes in them, etc...and that's just ONE combo...there's 6 or 7 combos...) by TODAY (yup...they give us 1 day to learn the WHOLE menu before they test us and you can only retake each of the 2 tests once) or we get sent packin.

The icing on top is that I've been out of work for almost 3 weeks now and I have ABSOLUTELY NO money now with rent due on the first so I REAAAAAAAAAAAAALLY need this job. It's a nice place, too. I can make good money there and I'll be PERFECTLY FINE once I pass these stupid fucking tests. You can look in the server book (little black book you see the server carrying that they take orders in) of ANY SERVER THERE and you'll find a sheet with all this shit I'm getting tested on. Once you pass the test, you can completely forget all of it and it wouldn't matter cuz you can just look...

Did I mention this sucks? I'm so fucking stressed...

yeah, i have thought about putting a civic motor into supra...just to show supra owners that there car isnt the end of all motors.

i think anyone can do with their car what they want to do without people caring as long as it is respectable.

as for the 944T, yes it is very quick but no where near a quick as the Z32TT's i drove. and like i said, 944T's place mid 14's which is by no means slow but the Z32TT has alot more balls.

i would give tight corners to the 944 but long high speed corners and curves to the Z32.

bottom line is 944T's are known to be very unreliable and i dont want to deal with it. this car will need to be a DD/fun car. my GF will be driving it probably 80% of the time. i want it to be reliable for her. so i am looking for a replacement motor...american motors seem really tempting at this point.

Dude...that DeLorean is SICK, Rocker...now THAT would be cool!

12th of what, Yag? Hope it's not February........

I wish I could find that article, K3. They even mentioned drag racing the 2 cars and they said they were dead even. The Z32 would inch ahead right off the line cuz it spools quicker, then the 944 would inch out the Z32 once it spooled up, then they'd shift and the cycle continues. DAMN I wish I could find that damn article.

Oh yea...about work...tomorrow's my last day of training. I can't wait to get done with training. After tomorrow, I just have to wait on a table of managers (ewww) and I'm good to go. Should be on the floor mon. Fuckin servers in this place make damn-near-stripper-money. One server there worked a double today and had a goal of $300...I thought she was kidding. She made $100 during lunch alone and lunch is the slow part of the day. $300 shouldn't be a problem in that case. For a bit of perspective, I was making $11/hr at my last "manager" job and would take home ~$330 a WEEK! Work a double on Fri and Sat and $700 or $800 isn't a problem. I heard a couple people talking today..."oh yea...my record is $340." "Damn...you edged me out...my record is $335." I asked what they were talking about. "Our records for how much we took home in a day." Not too damn bad...

It'll take about a month to get out of the hole cuz I've been out of work for a bit now. After that, it should be veeeeeeeeeeeeeeery interesting...:biggrin: I'm sure I can find plenty to use that much money on...:biggrin:

Doubt I'll be able to make the feb 12th trip, but I'll try. It MIGHT be doable depending on how well the job treats me in my first few days. The early March one shouldn't be a problem, but I'll see if I can make the feb one work. I'll let you guys know.

True testament to the over engineering of Toyota...they just don't make 'em like they used to, do they?

well the 951 feels much slower. if you look at the numbers it makes sense also. i have looked into it and have driven both...

951 is a great track car and it isnt slow but it isnt as quick as a Z32 in straight line performance.

951 runs a mid 14...road & track and car & driver both say so when they test drove it.

for some reason i couldnt find road & track or car& driver tests but i did find when "Sport Compact Car" tested it. they managed to get a 13.7 out of the Twin Turbo in the 1/4 mile...

there is no doubt in my mind that the 951 is a bad ass car. i am actually considering one for my next purchase (mostly because my girlfriend wants one and it would make a good project), i just have to get past the reliability, maitenance costs, and often occuring maitenance. but i will agree that some article you read probably does have them neck and neck and the 951 beating out the 300zx. but for some reason if you look at 1/4 mile test results of the Z32TT, they range from 13.6-14.4. i havent seen a 951 review with a rating of better than 14.4 in the 1/4 mile.

what year 951 was it, becuase the later models had like 280/290 horse, but the earlier models had like 230...
