How hard do you guys think it would be to fabricate a type of ram air hood, similar to the old late 60's/early 70's mopars where you could open and close the air scoop when needed... would that create alot of extra weight??? n.e. Ideas??

it wouldnt be expensive at all...
fabricate the slot into the hood...then make a little flapto cover it attached to an electronic actuator with a joint at the end of it. then push a button and thus you will have a ram air hood.

on a z32... what I'm thinking is to have a ram air hood and strategically mount the filter so that it'll ram air straight into it, help cool off the engine + turbos (when I do my TT swap :Evillol: ) in the process... the point of being able to open and close it, well I mean lets face it, I live in chicago, and the weather's un predictable :thumbsup:

you know air already hits the air filter through the bumper correct?

the only thing you would be doing is cooling off the engine. which isnt a bad idea. i have been trying to think of a way to to let air out without putting big hoels in my hood or anything. im thinking of a cowl in the back of the engine bay, kinda like whats between the hood and windshield. actually i think i have seen it before...maybe escort?

anyways, my theory is that heat rises, right. ok...heat rises to the top of the engine bay, where all of the EFI harness and sensors happen to be. so if there is a way to allow the heat to continue rising instead of getting trapped and deteriorating the wiring and electronics, this would be awesome. but this is not something that i will give up the looks of my car for.

anyways, the Z32 already has ram air in a way. air coming through the front bumper hits air filter. the problem with direct ram air is turbulence causing the MAF to not being able to read the air coming in.

ok found it...this is the exact hood i want. except for the front induction. i dont want that...just the rear cowl.

ram air's don't work... unless you're going like 200 mph... even then the effect is negligible...

oh that's a sweet hood J... i think i'd keep the front induction tho, would really get air flowing through there... well maybe not, depends on how it looks from the front.... either way that's a sweet idea

Ehh.... I think some people may hang you for that, Rocker. Without completly customzing a hood I don't think it could be done... Our engines sit a little higher... plus that has got to add some kind of unwanted weight. I get what you are saying now. But "ram air" is not needed on that spot... There are tons of vented hoods out there that will help with heat though. As far as air is concerned, Jason is right. We kinda already have a "cold-air/ram-air" intake in stock form. If you go with a 'pop-charger' type intake then you might want to look into a vented nose peice but then turbulence is a factor. If you get the BLITZ SUS intake like me then that actually combats some turbulence... I plan on getting a vented nose peice and I also plan to race my car. *note* The SUS intake was not designed to be used every day on the road... it's filtering properties are sub-par! It's strictly designed for over-all intake flow.

woot! i got a black ipod nano 4GB for my bday! and then i won $10 on a bingo lottery ticket. then me and my gf almost got caught messing around at my work when the nightly janitor came in. that was fun, running around outside my work in the snow with now shoes or shirt on. good times.

but yeah...a vented nose panel actually wors better with the radiator than anything. if you looks where the nose panel sits, a vent there will vent it right to the radiator.

i plan on getting a vented nose panel one of these days...but nothing like those guys offer. i want something more like Wagz had on his Z before he sold it.

yeah thats is the style of nose piece i would get when i get one. i really like how Wagz's flowed with his hood. it made it look really aggressive.

i think with the excort hood and that style of center panel it will be too many holes and it will look funny, even if all of them have a purpose.

f. they have a fucking ipod DOG not to mention an untypably long list of purely USELESS shit for them that will nickel and dime (well more like $50) you to death until you've ended up spending over $1500 on something that plays music at a sub-par quality and volume.

g. for the same price of one of those 2G ones you can get a creative labs unit that stores 10G...

h. did i mention they're sickly overpriced?

The battery life does matter as im going away for quite a while and im not sure how often ill have access to a powerpoint.

I like the iPods. They were one of the first REALLY high capacity mp3 devices on the market. I've only ever heard good things about them until when the Nano first came out and the screens started goin on the fritz...I'm sure they fixed that in a major hurry.

I wanna get an iPod because they will interface directly with the head unit in my car. I can plug the iPod into the interface, the iPod will charge and I can control the iPod right from the head unit. I can put all of my cds on the iPod, plug that in and throw it in the glove box and I'll never have to worry about getting my cds stolen or changing another CD again. Plus I can take the ipod out when I'm not in the car. Sounds good to me, man...lol.

I don't need the video one, though cuz of what I'm going to use it for.

Yeah I always kinda liked it... but only BOMEX makes something like that and alot of people have discontinued carrying BOMEX! Can't find it!

Anyhow I have been looking into front fascia's lately... I like the GReddy GRACER but everyone has it and it's fiber-glass! They have a Z-1 GRACER replica that is urethane... but I dunno. I'm kinda wierd about putting non-name brand stuff on my car. I like the '99 fascia but everyone has that too. ESCORT is no longer importing their version so that is out of the question. I've been really eye-ing the TwinZ fascia and I have just seen it in RED! Looks good! I figure from there maybe the VEILSIDE EC-2 skirts, rear, and you all know I LOVE that wing...

a. lets see here, about all the mp3 players around the nano's price have about the same amount of memory. the most memory offered for an mp3 player for $250 and less is 8GB from the Creative Labs Zen Micro, and personally, i dont like creative labs.

b. how are they not mp3 players anymore? i listen to mp3s on my ipod all the time, and thats all i do with my mp3.

c. they are fragile? have you watched that video about a couple people putting the nano through many of tests. i wish i could find it but they dropped it form 10 feet, still played music. dropped it out of a car going 20mph, still played music. it finally broke after dropping it from 40 feet. how is that fragile?

My sister has the tiniest little mp3 player I've ever seen. It's about 1" long, 1/4" wide and a 1/4" thick and it has quite a bit of memory...especially for it's size. But it won't inerface with my head unit! It'd be cool if it did, though. It's so small that I could put the damn thing in the cigarette lighter!

I DID see one smaller, though. This (http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=3756866) is pretty cool...1GB storage and it's only about as big as a sugar cube! Technology is crazy...

enough about MP3 players...they are useless for me anyways, except on rare occasion it would be nice to have one.

Georgy: that TwinZ front fascia isnt name brand. its a couple of guys that got together and made it out of their home. i dont like it at all. only thing good about is intercooler flow. aftermarket sidemounts usually do not show all of their fins to open air. on this particular front bumper, they actually do. the openings are big and tall enough to allow this.

just get the wings west front bumper. it is almost identical to the Greddy Gracer and it is urethane. i dont like anything else you picked so i will design your body kit with your taste in mine.

Wings west full body kit and veilside spoiler. reason: you cant have a clean looking front bumper and then have nasty edgy sideskirts, rear, and spoiler. you have to go full Veilside style or full wings west, clean style.

that is my opinion. and why worry about wheels. you already have some sharp wheels. 17's perform better anyways...

it is a 9 LED flashlight that runs off 3 AAA's and it came with a night vision lens and a anti glare lens. man is it sweet. box says you can it will reach further than a mile away. anyways, its bright! and it would make a great stocking stuffer for you real men...a man should always have a flashlight. and in freaks case always a tampon! :rofl:
