i love that commercial.

i have a datsun 510/ nisssan DVD with all kinds of old nissan/datsun commercials
it has some old U.S. datsun commercials - "drive a datsun, then decide."
even some old japanese commercials for the "bluebird coupe" (510)

that 300zx tt commercial was one of my favorites

My favorite Nissan commercial is the one where GI Joe goes and steals Barbie from Ken while Van Halen is blaring in the background. Fuckin awesome.

Although, the newest 350Z commercial is cool as hell. The one where the cars keep going through smoke and whatnot and going from a roadster to a black one to a red Nismo and all. That one's cool as hell.

I dunno what I'd do without my wireless highspeed...probably wouldn't use the net much anymore...I've had broadband too long...going back to dial up would just blow.

That's my fav z commercial too, I rememberd seeing it when I was younger, and thinking that it was pretty funny. One day at work last summer I was doing an altavista search for a 300zx dyno, and that commercial came up... I'd never realized it was a 300zx till I saw GI Joe jump in...

the new 350z commercial's pretty cool, I've seen it about 3 or 4 times

I remember thinking it was cool as hell when I saw it as a kid, too. It's just so cool.

Vids (http://www.yadamnfool.com/Z_Commercials2.htm)

That's a kick ass site with a bunch of commercials that you can download. This is the site that I got that one GI Joe commercial off of a while back...I've had it on my computer for a while now.

I don't know if the newest one that's cool (God the new Z sounds so bad...) probably isn't out there yet. I dunno.

Dude! The PSP fucking ROCKS! My mom was pestering me today to get me to tell her something I wanted for Christmas. I gave them a big list of automotive-related books that I wanted, but apparently she wanted me to tell her something bigger. I didn't really give it a ton of thought and one of the first things that came to mind was a PSP. Well...I'm bored right now so I dug up a bit of info on it...oh my GOD is that thing bad. It does SO much shit! The newest update for it allows you to take advantage of the LocationFree TV technology! For those of you unfamiliar with this, think about being able to stream not only live TV, but also DVDs and music (I think) from your home collection to your PSP no matter WHERE YOU ARE as long as you have access to a wireless connection!

For more info, go here. (http://products.sel.sony.com/locationfreetv/owners/psp_how.html)

You can find them on eBay, NIB (new in the box), for ~250 bucks...maybe even closer to 200 if you look around a bit and get lucky. I just wish my mom and dad weren't...like..."buying stuff off the internet" - aphobic...cuz I'd rather have this (http://cgi.ebay.com/Parker-P38-custom-Buy-it-Now-Special_W0QQitemZ7375333749QQcategoryZ2384QQssPage NameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)...it's just so bad...just...so bad. I'm current high bidder now and I contacted the guy asking him what he wanted for it...he said he'd end the auction for 475 and he'd throw in an effects pedal. Price is a little steep for me so I'm gunna ride the auction out for now and see what happens.

save yourself some money and install some Z32 rods...forged rods, about as strong as you are gonna get from the factory. will hold more power than our motors will probably ever produce. :D

That's pretty cool, D. No, I hadn't seen that. I may be the "resident Z31 guy", quote/unquote, but I don't see everything. That's an awesome set...just REALLY expensive. Considering what it is, that price isn't too bad, but it's a tad tough to shell all that out at once. If I bought the rods one month, then the pistons a couple months later, then the bearings a couple months after that...it's MUCH easier to digest. That kit kinda seems to me that it's for someone who just needs to build a VG30ET and get it done QUICK.

What I AM looking for is a bearing/gasket kit. I wanna replace all that shit when I put the engine back together.

Good eyes,

uses the same parts as a Z32TT...yes?

i am still trying to decide on what kind of main bearings to put in my motor. Z31 or Z32? what do ya think DZ?

12-18-2005, 09:01 PM
uhm... i believe the 86.5+ bearings are close to, if not the same as the z32 bearings... i'd go with the ones that are 'made' for the z32... like that kit says, it's made for the z32 but will fit the z31T...

yeah i was thinking about the z32 stock rods, but i think those eagles are lighter... just depends on availability i guess... weisco pistons look like the way to go tho... i wonder what compression they'll net on the z31... upping the compression and running moderate boost compared to high boost would be kind of cool...

yeah...should be about 8.7:1 because they will be bored to the same clearances as the Z32 would.

well, the Z31 bearings fit in the Z32 but they are made of a harder metal...good for performance, bad for longevity and everything must be perfect. i think i will just go with OEM Z32 or Toga's. :D

freak: just think, it could have been worse. you could have been driving and hit a telephone stalk while in the 300zx. that part shouldn't too expensive beings it isnt a multi-switch.

 what did i tell you about supply and demand? economics man, economics.

if less companies offer Z31 parts, the companies that do can sell them for cheap. Mitch has to compete with Z1, SGP, IPP, etc so he has to lower his price to lure customers away from the others. you have to remember, Mitch has alot of respect to still built while companies like Z1 and SGP are already a the tip of everyone's tongue. sorry...sometimes it sucks and sometimes it helps you out. why do you think civic parts are so cheap? so many companies out there offering them...someone has to make the lower price.

That TT Z31 kit is pretty cool, but way overkill. I'd rather do one big turbo. That seems to me to be more for show than anything else.

Hellllls yeah, got my Type-R Block back from R&R Machining... She's now capable of taking revs into 12,500RPM safely. :D

Even better news, I met a guy today who has a perfect condition '94 Twin Turbo Zed with 36,000 original miles on her! We started BS'in about his beautiful car, and it came up about how much he misses his Hondas... Oooh... "I have a Type-R Civic, want to trade?" He looks up... "Mind if I take a look?"

So we went back to my house, and he got a good look at her, I told him once she's out of the paint shop, and we have the motor running perfectly, I'd like to trade him straight up.

He said if the car looks as good as I'm saying it will... HE'LL TRADE STRAIGHT UP!!!!

I'm almost considering selling my current Zed32 project to speed the Type-R's progress up a bit... God Damn you guys wouldn't believe how nice this thing is, I only found 3 dents on the entire body, engine bay's a bit dirty, but nothing some Simply Green can't take care of. Interior is flawless, aside from a bit of wear on the normal spot of the driver's seat. Other than that, it's just going to need some new tires, and some basic maintenance, and Hell, I've got myself a pretty Zed!

I've just got to bust my Ass and get this Type-R done... It's still going to be a few months, but I'll keep you guys posted.

Oh, in case you're at all interested, here's what's in store for the Type-R:

-Monday it's going into COLOR PROS to get painted BMW Metallic Silver, on the Exterior, Engine Bay, and Interior, the Black on the Roof, Underbody, and Fender Wells... Total cost for me: Set of Integra Type-R seats. :D My buddy who works there is doing the entire job for a set of $800 seats, which is partially why he's taking about a month on it.
-The engine is being fully rebuilt. The block was balanced to 12,500RPM, replaced Bearings, replaced Rings, and fully micropollished all internals... Original billl was $1,000, but they gave me half price... With them being my new sponsor and all. :D Haha. The head got hot tanked, had the valve seals replaced, and other than that, she's good to go. We replaced the 6-Puck Clutch with an OEM Type-R Clutch ($350), and had the Flywheel resurfaced for $35. Then they hot tanked the Intake Manifold, and bead blasted it back to a good finish. It's being sent out Monday to get powder coated Dolphin Grey. The Throttle Body is being honed, and cleaned up, I'm waiting on the Comptech Ice Box, and the RMF Race Header to come in the mail. After that, I've got a suspension in mind, which is going to have to wait a while, as I've not $1,200 lying around at the moment, and then it's a matter of bits and pieces... Then hopefully this guy will still be interested, I think I'm getting one Hell of a deal here.

Anyway, I'll post up some pictures tomarrow.

-Wes
