so guys how about a dry sump VG ????? now i know what a dry sump motor is (some of u prolly dont) and why its used and what its benifits are, but taking that all aside, how sweet would it be to convert a ...oh idk TT motor before i do my TT swap to dry sump..........i know i wouldnt be able to mount the motor lower whick is a big reason for dry sump, but it would still get me like 20 HP and the cool factor would be insane..............im lookin into it LOL ....what do u guys think, and no im not really goin to do it but tis a cool idea

I think a dry sump lubrication wouldnt be worth the cost unless your car can pull close to a G on the skid pad then yeah. But my is question who manufactures a dry sump lube for a VG motor?

Dry sump oil system is and always be the best way to oil an engine. Oil for a engine is very criticial, and by dry sumping the engine you control this process by providing mass amounts of oil to all needed points, but the problem is with the large amounts of oil provided to the engine it needs to be scavanged (returned) to the oil tank hitting the crank. Most dry sump systems have 4 pumps. 1 for the pressure system and 3 for scavanging. 1 scavanging pump in the oil pan and 2 in the valve covers. In older high performance as is newer engines with conventional oil systems a windage tray was used and helped, but the drysump oil system is much more superior.

How does that wing make me a ricer? I could see that if I was gonna get this huge aluminum erector set wing... lots of cars like the Supra, Eclipse, EVO, and STI have huge wings! are those rice cars... it just so happens I think that the wing goes perfect with the Z's, especially the 2+2's, body lines.

yes, they are sort of rice, but that doesnt count because they come stock with the wing...your adding the wing on as an upgrade. im just joking with you Jorge, i personally dont care. as long as you have the power to make a good use for that park bench your putting on the back of your car. i seriously could sit on that wing and be perfectly comfortable...

the only complication id have with drysumping my VG is getting the pulley to power the pumps, finding a way o mount another cog would be one hella fun headache, and as for the resevoir (sp) id prolly just move the battery and mount it there. i just know that those pumps that r used are a good 600 bux, plus everythin else id need, but gosh it would be cool.......when im rich

will do...i was trying to post pics of everything i have received so far, but i cant none of the hosts are working. the only one i can get to work for me is AF and my pictures are too big for it. ill figure something out...my basement smells like my garage and i love it.
anyways, i shall be receiving my intercoolers any day now. and i will probably be ordering my intercooler piping and radiator in a few more days. i really am just on hold for me to find time to get my n/a drivetrain pulled out...once that is out and sold, i will be buying my motor and if that stuff doesnt sell the project well be on hold for abotu another month until i can come up with the money for the TT motor.
well that is my outline for the next few weeks...i will keep you guys updated.
i got a question for someone, is it possible to pull the motor and auto tranny together??? my service manual says, for the automatic, i have to take the trans. out first then the motor but for manual trannies you can pull them at the same time. why is this??? just the extra weight of the automatic makes it more difficult or is the auto tranny just a tad more bulky???

You don't want to pull either with the trans attached. Look in your engine bay. What are you thinking?
If that isn't simple enough for you:
It will take you 5 minutes to take the trans off from under the car.
It would take you a special engine hoist setup and an extra hour or better to pull it all at once.

gotcha, thanks broke. i was going to drop teh trans out first then the motor but then i happened to look in the service manual and says for the manual tranny, remove radiator and fan assembly and then pull both while attached. i will just un-bolt the trans from the motor, not a problem. was it a very time consuming process for you broke??? have you had any other experience??? from a scale 1-10, how difficult would you rate it, 10 being the most difficult??? just trying to get an idea...

It took a day at a slow pace, bagging up all the parts and labeling everything. I had done alot of prep work as far as unbolting/connecting various things to see how much of what was attached where. A concentrated effort over a weekend should be all you need time wise.
Once everything you can reach is disconnected it's actually more or less a straight pull up and out. I did it without dropping the front cross member and that may have added some time there but it will save alot in the long run since I don't have to reassemble the front suspension. There were only a few sticking points, none of them really major, the biggest of which was the boost tube running off the compressor to the intercooler, and that was a pain just because it was hard to get to.

alright, thanks broke. doesnt sound bad at all..i wont have to worry about that boost tube until i go to put it in and in that case it should be all that bad...
guess what fellas...i bought myself a new car for my daily driver. i got a great deal. its a 2000 2 door black GTP supercharged...its pretty quick and its in prestine condition. i was looking for audi's and i came across this grand prix...its all about boost baby. i think im gonna keep my 86 and finish fixing it up and eventually put a rb20 in it...
but for right now, i have a trustworthy daily driver car so i can relax on the swap and take my time and do it right the first time.

BTW: i hope you guys arent upset that i went american and got a pontiac but you ahve to admit they are nice cars. :D

yeah it has that feature...your talking about where the MPH, radio, and turn signals shine on the windshield so you can see whats going on without looking down. yeah, its cool but during the day its kind of glary so i scroll it down. anyways, this thing is loaded...first newer car i ahve ever owned. i love it...leather, cd, all that good stuff. not to mention the 3.8L series 2 supercharged motor...240hp and 280ft/lbs of torque. its faster than my n/a i am pretty sure. atleast from 0-60...my n/a will probably catch it after that. anyways, Twin Turbo Swap!!!!

Pontiac? Booooooo! LoL Well, as long as you aren't gonna go all modified domestic on me it's okay, Jason...
...you aren't are you......................?
Fucking sucks... raining like crazy over here and alot of the streets are flooding. I hit this huge ass puddle and it ripped the bottom of my fascia off. It's only hanging by a small peice of plastic. Shit! I bought some fiber-glass body repair stuff and hopefully it doesn't start raing again so I can fix it and go to ESCORT Racing's BBQ! I wanna take some pix of that Drag Z32 for you guys...
On a lighter note... at least now I have a valid excuse to pick up a JDM Fascia to go along with my 747 wing (bitches!!!!!)! Wooohooo!
Hey... I haven't seen Jared lately. Wes isn't in here too often either.... fags. I miss 'em. This place isn't the same without 'em.

nah, not anytime soon. if i ever do, its not gonna be like all 450hp GTP or nothing. it will just be like a little mod work...exhaust, headers, intake, supercharger pulley. thats about it...maybe some wheels. right now im happy with it and it is a perfect car for me. its all about the BOOST baby...whether its coming from a supercharger or a turbocharger, its great. :evillol:

i just bought $200 worth of tools today...sears was having a blowout sale in the tools department. yeah baby!!!
also, if anyone lives in the chicago area, there is a wal-mart car service center going out of business and they are selling all of their big equipment. like full car lifts and things...id love to have one of those in my garage but i bet they wont let one of those things go for less than a couple thousand. anyways, all the wheel balancer and tire remover machines are being sold. im going up there next weekend if i find out exactly where its at and try to get me a nice tool chest. :D

what's the best method for polishing aluminum? eg my wheels... i'v got some steel wool, and i was thinking about using that to polish em up.. don't have any fine grit sandpaper at the moment, so i was kind of hoping i could use the steel wool... think that'd damage the aluminum in any way? it sort of looks like there's a finish or polish on em, but they're gettin pretty ugly from all the roadsalt spots and such.. my center caps are peeling paint too, i wonder if those are repaintable :p

i doubt steel wool will do anything but scratch them...probably need to sand it with a very fine grit and then buff the hell out of it. and the centercaps are plastic arent they??? they will probably need repainted...
i would wet sand them with a fine grit and then get some VHT graphite color paint and give them a charcoal silver color and then go over them with a couple coats of clear coat to bring out that shine...:D

Saw something you Hardcore Naturally Aspirated guys would have creamed over
I was at work, bringing carts in... When I heard a throughty rumble, turned and looked... Dark Blue Zed32 with HUGE grape fruit shooters sticking out the valence.
I saw him park, and did a power walk over there to talk to him... He got out and I said 'How do you like the Fairlady?' to which he replied 'O I love it, it's my second one'
I sarcastically asked 'so what do you have done to it?' seeming as all I saw was the mufflers.
He said 'see for yourself'
Popped the hood... Wow... Fully built heads, ported, polished, extruded, honed upper and lower plenum, 555cc injectors, Injen intake, JWT ECU, headers (not sure of brand), underdrive pulleys, JE Pistons, and a straight back exhaust... He had the engine built for nitrous, and its in the works as of now. Over $14,000 into the engine alone...
He said its at about 400bhp (sounds a little high... But I didnt feel like calling him on it) and that its a fun car.
So I saw him when he was leaving the store as well... And I did the 'spin them up' motion with my hand... He said one second... And rolled out into traffic.
Took a left hand turn onto the next road, and tore the fuck off lighting the tires up through three gears... Thing was sputtering and backfiring the whole time, it gave me chills :evillol:
Awesome car... I've forgotten lately what a real car is... Good to be reminded once and a while.
