You know what's satisfying and disappointing at the same time? Test driving a TSX and realizing your 07 Si sedan is much much faster. Makes me glad that I never really looked at used TSX's... but totally rules out a future power upgrade via K24 powa.

I got pulled over today by a highway patrol goober, who gave me a ticket for my exhaust. Stating that it was not stock.

I was doing about 40-45mph in 5th gear in my hatch, and the exhaust was just barely audible even to me...this moron was going the opposite direction and even had his windows up!

Im fighting it, and heres why:

Florida Statute 316.272.1 (which is what he got me for) reads

(1) Every motor vehicle shall at all times be equipped with an exhaust system in good working order and in constant operation, including muffler, manifold pipe, and tailpiping to prevent excessive or unusual noise. In no event shall an exhaust system allow noise at a level which exceeds a maximum decibel level to be established by regulation of the Department of Environmental Protection as provided in s. 403.061(13) in cooperation with the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles. No person shall use a muffler cutout, bypass or similar device upon a vehicle on a highway.

Another statute says that you can not modify or tamper with your exhaust at all unless it is to replace with a piece of equipment that functions in the same manner and for the same purpose, which my muffler does just that.

For my vehicles weight and the speed limit of the road, the sound limit is 72 db. The officer never measured my sound levels, and had no way of doing so..and there is no way my car was that loud, he just looked in his mirror, saw the tip and hung a U to pull me over.

Also there is a statute that says that the vehicle can not be any louder than originally manufactured, and I would certainly wager that when measured 50ft from the center of the driving lane (which is how its supposed to be) that my car is no louder than stock...as long as im not on the gas lol.

ah so... fhp does get pretty anal about minor shit. I still think if you challenge the ticket you can get it overturned unless the cop lied on you and said he could clearly hear your exhaust as you passed etc

what if the sound test backfires (not literaly), but when they do the test won't they rev the engine to simulate 'driving conditions' thus letting the unloaded engine fly through the tach freely and releasing its loudest possible decibel level???

Technically the only way to truly verify the engine's exhaust noise is in an anechoic chamber. Tell the judge that.

But I kind of want something different. I want to go to the dark side and get a 4th gen. I'd love to get a 4dr, but It'd be kind of crazy to trade a 2044lb car for a 2300+ lb one.

the req here is 72 decibels, measured 50 ft from the centerline of the driving lane...the maximum the car can generate at any time is like 81 or 82.

From my understanding here in fl it's 93 decibils they do a test from 20ft at idle and another test from 50 ft away at 3,000rpm I do beleive it was.. Just tell the judge it's sport compact car profiling lol that there was a muscle car next to at the light and was ten times louder :)

head gasket blew..replaced
just need to install the upgraded intake manifold, hook up the p/s, exhaust needs bolted up, needs a new brake line up front passenger side
