Alright... somebody explain to me how this happened....

I start working on my car this morning, to fix the windshield wipers (replacing the linkage).... my girl comes out to the car and gets in like she's ready to go somewhere... I told her It'd be a while before I was finished... so she gets her stuff, storms back in the house.. storms out again, gets in her car, and leaves..... about an hour later, I get a messege from here saying "It's OVER... I'll be back for my stuff on Monday"... she'd gone to her mothers and sent me that... so wtf? I must have picked a shitty weekend to fix my car..

Wow...im glad mine thinks my car is cute and has "some kind of class". That was when I showed her http://tampa.craigslist.org/car/306583734.html which im going to go look at/buy tomorrow, and she said it looked like a heap of sheet metal with wheels...I see the same car as mine +a small hatch difference.

Oh well... if she's going to leave me, I'm going to sell my CRX to my brother and buy a new Civic Si sedan.
I'm still not entirely convinced she's serious yet though... of course, I could be in denile... but who knows. either way, I can't let myself get down... we're about to start our busiest season at work, and I need to be in good spirits and ready to run lots of hours to make that money....

This really sucks though... everything's been going so well for me here lately.... I got ANOTHER $2 raise this week... and assuming I pass my L1 ASE test, I'll get yet another $2 raise next month..... oh well... I've already started to drown my sorrows for today... proof reading your drunk typing sucks arse.

Got a new car .. not a honda though. Accually, traided one of my civics for it.

She hates the rex... she's been pissed off at me for selling my EJ hatch from the moment I did it. I don't think she'll ever like the crx... but that's just one among a dozen problems we've been having here lately.

She's mad because she thinks I'm in no hurry to buy a house... I'm pissed off because she refuses to get a job and help with the bills, so I postpone buying a house, because I don't want all of my hard earned money to go into a house, bills, and have nothing left over for anything else.

Then last night during our vicious text messeging fight, she tells me she wants to have a baby too (which she's always said before to my face that she didn't want kids).... so yeah... we've got some things to sort out before things cool down... but after much arguing, she gave in and came home and she seems ok this morning... but who knows how it goes from here........ but this is what I get for being with a girl so much younger than me.

FullBlown is right. Sorry for my harshness previously. But yeah, house hunting is no joke. I just bought a house. It took us over a year to find this place and with my wife and my salaries combined it is just enough to cover the mortgage, my financial aid, my Jeep payment and our various bills. Going it alone is not easy. I know this for a fact.

Yeah, that was kinda harsh... am not a sucker though... I didn't cave in... I stand my ground for the most part. I'm glad she did blow up though... helps me to know what she's mad about, and most of the time she just clams up and keeps it inside... I prefer a good vocal fight, as opposed to wondering why she's on her computer ignoring me.

Oh well, she'll grow up eventually... and although I don't really like some of her goals, she does have them. Like she's in school working on her teaching degree and such.... so I'm not so much upset about her not having a job, as long as she's making good grades.

Killa_ CRX- Are you married? If not...

1. IMHO , if you're not ready to buy a house or start a family then you must explain that to her. Try reasoning with her. This will also be a huge step for the both of you. I assume she's already living with you and so I take it that you have a serious relationship going on.

2. I do not know how the women think these days but it seems to me that she wants to start a feature with you. And I THINK that she wants to be sure that you want a feature with her as well. Maybe this is why she wants a house and start a family with you? Maybe she wasn't being serious? Maybe its her way of finding out how serious you are with her? Sometimes women will act selfishly this way.

3. IMHO, I do not believe that women should help pay the bills. US men suppose to support our women and family. If you're going to have difficulty paying the bills all by yourself, I highly suggest you save your money for a house. Just take your time. Even if it takes a couple of years. Patience is the key! Of course if you really want a feature with her.

I hope everything works out for the both of you. You both need to sit down and talk what you both want and try to compromise with each other. Try to reach an agreement of what you both want.

- Again, this is just my opinion :)

that gets harder and harder as corps fire/replace the higher payed employees. i know several mid-20yo's that even with a managment position only make $9-$11 an hour.

circuit city fired the top % payed employees recently. but offered them their position back at starting pay.http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601087&sid=aw.zhHEzMpZU&refer=home

"Chief Executive Officer Philip Schoonover was paid $8.52 million in fiscal 2006, including a salary of $975,000"

"Best Buy CEO Brad Anderson received $3.85 million, including a $1.17 million salary"

another article had this comment " 20% of the workforce -- lost their jobs or had their commissions cut, including a top salesman who had sold more than $1 million worth of electronics and earned $54,000 in salary and bonuses the year before."

and yet they cut the average joe suporting their families.....and not the filthy rich guys. not to single out circuit city, since all corps are like this.

Which is why I'm still attending school to have a career. Even though I might be the same position as those retail employees, atleast I'd have a good backround to possibly get a better/higher paying job. What doesn't make sense is that they fire the top sales people and they're the ones who are making the gross for the company and for themselves. If you make the company more money, then there payroll expands. Obviously there's something wrong with the major retail stores.

About Circuit City, I believe they don't have enough room to expand there payroll. Possibly because the business isn't doing so well.

Whatever the reason is, my advice to the youngins here is to get an education. It'll pay off in the end. :)

My father supported a family of six. He was first a Chicago cab driver from '81-'89 then he became a salesman in cars/furniture from '90-'02. Always working on commissions and you know you're going to have days where you don't get anything. God knows how he always pulled through for my family. And thank God for that. He's a very educated person, he attended Texas A&M but didn't finish thanks to my mother. Not her fault but he started a family and going to school and working was all too much for him. My mom only worked from '79-'82. When she had my second brother, it got harder for my mother as well. Well anyways the point is, finish your career goals and then start a family. If you can pull off doing both, then God bless you LOL

Mellow, you know a man supporting a family whereby the woman stays at home is a pipedream. I'm sorry to say it. My brothers both work and support their families while their wives are homemakers, raising the children. However, both wives worked prior to having kids and while my brothers were being educated and advancing in their respective careers. That is a smart way of doing it and they are smart people. They also make 4x as much per year as I do and hold a lot of clout in the cities in which they live in. My wife and I are both highly educated both with great jobs and no kids. But reality is a bitch and there is really no way we could make it on just one of our salaries. It's just the way it is, man.

My parents raised five kids and they both have been working continuously for the passed 40 years. My mother is a professional and my father owns is own business. They will work until they die and so will I.

You know, if eventually my girl wanted stay home and be a stay at home mom, I really wouldn't mind... I have a good career, I work for a good company, and I can potentially make A LOT of money (because they do pay me a lot for what I do)... only thing that's really holding me back at this time is lack of experience. But I gain more experience all the time, and in two years my pay rate is going to nearly double.... so in the future, money wont even be a major concern in our relationship.

But young people don't always look ahead to the future as much as the older peoples do... and that's where she has her troubles at... but again, that's something everybody grows out of.

I guess I could change careers and make more money. I really should be teaching college English and/or be finishing up my PhD dissertation. But my hearing impairment has thwarted this career agenda. Instead I'm a tech writer/analyst for a law firm. I'm thinking about supplementing my income with something part time. My wife is a workaholic so she'll always work... she makes more anyway ;-) Anyway, we love the new house we live in so I guess we'll work and live comfortably (in debt), because there is no way in hell I'm going back to living in a shack like the one I was living in for the past 6 years...

I'm not saying they shouldn't work. I'm saying they don't have to work if they chose not to. If they do, IMO wives shouldn't use there money to pay the bills. They should use it to buy gifts for the family, things to decorate the house or whatever they want but bills. They should enjoy there money.

That is certainly idealistic thinking. What difference does it make? Bills got to be paid. If the woman is the primary bread winner, she can sign her name on the check to pay the water bill. Realistically, a man and a woman that both work share their income. I'll admit that my wife and I had separate accounts up until just recently but if she had more money in hers then she paid the bills. You'll see if you get married and share a life with someone. The days of the Willy Lomans are over my friend...

You guys are funny. j/k I look at a house as an investment. Think about it this way. You buy furniture piece by piece. I started off with a sweet ass living room set (still haven't received all of my glass tables yet... ugh) and 40% discounted solid oak sweet kitchen set. I've sat in front of the tv eating for long enough. Our house has a separate dining room also but we'll furnish that room last. We already had a fantastic queen sized bedroom suite so that is done. And we were lucky enough to have the previous owners leave a twin sized solid oak bedroom suite in the spare bedroom. So now if anybody comes to visit they have a wonderfully furnished room to stay in. All the other rooms have already been decorated and we have brand new hardwood floors. Now, about the investment part. When and if we ever sell the place, it would be ideal to have potential buyers see just how freakin' sweet our home is while everything is still in it. Furniture doesn't increase the value of a home any, but fancy schmancy wall paper and shit does (already done). Anyway, I think of it as like a car that you want to mod. First "mod" this summer is to clean up and paint the garage floor. The previous owners had some awful cars... haha. Someday I want to close in the back porch and install a hot tub. :grinyes:

If my wife (assuming somone is foolish enough to fill that role) makes more than me I don't see why she wouldn't handle the larger bills. I admit the idea of my wife being the larger financial contributor would go against my prototypical idea of what my marriage might be but that doesn't have to be a bad thing, especially since my aspirations of selling a script may not become reality as soon as I'd like. If that means being Mr Mom for a period of time then thats fine by me. As long as the wife's happy, I'm happy :)

It's a play. Pretty dated by today's standards. That's why I said that statement... haha. The main character is a traveling salesman who tries to support his family with his two sons that have grown apart. I'd classify it as an American Tragedy. The 1985 movie version is pretty good. A younger John Malkovich plays the part of the oldest son, Biff Loman and Dustin Hoffman plays the part of Willy Loman... http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0089006/.
