Well it finally happened. Just got a call from my friend with a turbo'd H22a Civic. He went to the gas station down the street, ripped on it from a cold start (not something he usually does). Apparently everything was fine on the way there, but on the way back is another story. His oil pressure light came on, and his A/F (through a UGO) leaned out on him. He's going to pull it and rip it apart tomorrow and check the damage. He thinks it's a spun bearing (connecting rod bearing?). Hopefully there isn't any damage to anything major (like the crank). So I'm off on an all night search for some good (yet cheap) connecting rods for him, he never changed them anyways :uhoh: so now he has a "good" reason to.
Killa_CRX
09-25-2005, 12:17 AM
if he's going to do that, he may as well do a build on the whole damn engine while he's got it all apart.
CivicSpoon
09-25-2005, 01:12 AM
Yeah but if there's no damage to the rest of it, then he'll be fine. He already has Darton sleeves, SRP pistons in it, and knife-edged crankshaft. He just didn't want to spend the $ for the rods at the time it was rebuilt (dumb). And a complete re-rebuild is out of the question, unless he has to.

"I fell into a burning ring of fire"
Tonight I realized I once again have an addiction. Until recently I had been "clean" since thanksgiving day 2002. It started somewhat differnt this time, skipping the smaller stuff and moving ahead full force till it all came crashing down. Within months its accelerated to the point that it is severaly disrupting my life in all aspects. Despite everything I said, I couldnt even make it two years. I just dont know what to do. I'm sitting here, I'v been here for hours. I said this would never happen again... I would never do this again... I would never get other people involved.

Addiction to what? drugs? alcohol? Internet Forums?
I had a drug addiction once to extasy... got to the point that I started dealing it, just to afford my habbit.... but then I managed to kick that habbit with the help of a good woman (now my fiance').
Now I fight the internet forum addiction with lots and lots of school work most of the time... too bad I'm between classes this week. (tha's why I been on here a lot this week).

I know all about addiction. I did the same thing. I was addicted back in '93-'94, quit everything completely (didn't even drink). Then at the end of '01 I started using again and have ever since. But last time I was sick I was on some weird medication so I stopped all the other stuff, and now I only do stuff every once and a while. But I still have cravings every few days. Then there's the cigarettes... been smoking for almost 4 years now and at least a pack a day. Addictions suck, but everyone has them whether they realize it or not. For some it's perscription drugs, illegal drugs, alcohol, caffeine, food, nicotein, shopping (crazy women :D), porn, speed, etc. It's all in your mind, you can do anything you want. Easier said than done though.

I talked with the program director about those guys who were cheating...
He is going to make everyone take the final exam again without the aid of anyones books (sept those of us that didn't cheat... we don't have to take the test again :icon16: )... so if anyone can pass it the second time around, they're in the clear.... if they can't, they loose the credit for the class and have to take it over again next fall.....
Also, I'm in the clear, because what was the first thing those idiots all did when they came to class today? They bragged to everyone who walked past them about what they did last week.... so any one of a dozen people could have said something... so my ass is in the clear. :loser:

use a screen if that happens to you often. I usually put a bigger chunk at the bottom of the pipe and then put the smaller pieces on top so nothing can just fly through like that. what really sucks is when the pipe gets beat and your taking the last hit, it supermans and an amber flys down your throat. ouch....

I know what you mean about the superman, done that a lot. When I was younger I always used a metal pipe with a screen, so the first time I used the glass was an unpleasant experience. I wouldn't even touch my friends pipe for about a month, fearing that I'd get another amber shooting down my throat. But the pipe I use is a glass (maybe pyrex) "spoon" pipe, so I'd rather not use a screen. But I think I put too big of a chunk at the bottom, and it clogged up (stuff's not very dry). So after a while a piece finally burned through and broke off. I need to get a new slider and piece for my "water pipe", damn I miss that thing. It has a ceramic base to it, so you can screw the bong onto it and it won't tip over. I call it Mr. Burns.

I went to California for my glass... best ever. Opium is bad... especially the shit that smells like gasoline... stay away from it. Nicotine is overrated... quitting smoking was the smartest decision I've ever made. Alcohol is not very fulfilling either. I can't even drink much being diabetic, but I don't miss it...

I've owned about 5 or 6 different pipes in the past 4 years, but I pretty much stick with the cheap $20 ones now. Had a sick ass thick glow-in-the-dark one, but I left it on my lap and when I got up it broke on the concrete. And another one that was wrapped in filo clay, but I left it in my pocket and sat on it when I tried to get an entertainment center out of a truck. They just don't last long unless you keep it in a room with thick carpeting, and only keep it in there. You sure that was Opium and not cheap hash? My friend made hash before, and used paint thinner :eek7: I tried it once and never touched it again. I read a lot online about how to make it, and that was one of the most popular ways. People are messed up sometimes. Everyone tells me if I quit smoking, within 2 weeks I'll notice a huge difference with being able to actually breath. But my will power is shot. Alcohol really isn't that great, I only drink maybe once every 2 or 3 months at the most (probably why I get messed up on 2 beers :D).
Blu - The way to be man. Clear head and more $ in your pocket.

My wife's VW just got the CEL on yesterday. If it's the Mass Airflow Sensor again, I'm going to be pissed...

Parts availability is not a concern :P I can get just about anything through Toyota (and at an employee discount ;) )
As for the alltrac... they are very hard to find, yes.... every time I find one and call about it, it's usually already been sold... I found one rather close to me though for 1,500 and it's not running, but the body and interior are straight and rust free... I might go look at it this weekend if it's still there.
I still haven't found a 1st gen, but I could probably pick one up on eBay and have it shipped here. If I got a 1st gen, I'd be tearing it down completely and rebuilding it from the ground up as a show/race car only, so the condition wouldn't be as big a factor.
What would be a good car to get after owning a crx?
Nothing.... I'd give my left nut to be able to find another un-molested CRX......... there was NO car I enjoyed more than my CRX.... I just never have been able to find another one in as good of condition as I would like. Maybe one of these years....

Who here has read "Darwin's Blade" by Dan Simmons? The main character drives an Acura NSX. I'm only on Chapter 3 but it seems very auto oriented.

CRX is now completely primer grey... no more green. I just have to fabricate a small piece of sheet metal to the driver side rear 1/4 panel/fender and bondo, sand and primer. It may be meticulous though because I'll have to test fit the rocker/side skirt which may not mount up on the bottom side since I had to cut most of it away due to rust. I have to go to the dealership to get the non-reusable screw things for it as well. It should look close to stock when finished. Also, I resanded and primered the roof and from a distance you can't even tell that a sunroof ever was present. Pics will be posted when it's done.

Hey, I'm pretty proud of the work I've done so far. I'd say not to fucking bad for a white collar person. Oh btw, if I keep my crx, it's getting painted (not by me) gunmetal grey and new suspension parts and rims.
