Carolina posse... LOL
Yesterday, I sprayed the pollen off the Jeep with a hose in my own backyard. It was an unusual experience. No more paying in those do-it-yourself car washes and trying to rush against the clock. Although, the one in Clemson, SC uses hot water. I guess I'll still use them though if there is a lot of dirt on it.
Mellowboy, I guess I'm a bike newb, but don't you have to run high octane fuel in a bike? Seems like you'll get better mpg though.

Damn.... nothing like 24hours of rain to help you track down all the water leaks in your new car.
so far I've only found one at least... water is dripping steady from the passenger side hatch strut mounting area.... still not quite sure where exactly it's coming in at... checked the seal around the hatch and it looked fairly solid... going to start ripping interior panels off tonight sometime.
Anyone had an experience like this before? :P

Just go premium. It's only 10 bucks to fill up your 4 gallon tank . My friend's yamaha R6 gets 45 mpg :)

Awesome!
CRX Killa, the passenger side hatch strut is notorious for leaking through the strut seams. I don't know why but it just does. You may just want to try to seal it up better where it connects to the top of the hatch. Make sure your sunroof drain plugs are removed.

i got stuck in traffic on teh highway sunday. all lanes had to merge to the left lane. some shredded clothing and a large stain was smack dab in the middle of the 2nd, 3rd lanes. asked a guy at work who has a bike and he told me what happened.
a guy was with a bike group, and the pack slowed down, but he didn't see till too late. he locked up both wheels, went end over end, and slide 100ft on the pavement. no helmet. no padding. if he gets out of ICU he will have 5% brain capacity left. hes braindead.
great gas mileage and a fun ride did him alot of good :disappoin :shakehead

I ride all the time... Me and my dad were out one time with some Harley friends of his... waaaaay out in the west texas dessert. We were going pretty fast on some back roads, and one guy wasn't paying attention to an upcoming corner or was going to fast to handle his bike (we were doing somewhere between 70 and 80mph) and he went off the road and went down. Lucky for him he was wearing a helmet and his bike slid faster than he did and took out the barbed wire fence before he got to it... he ended up with some broken bones, concusion, and some bad road rash on his hands and legs... ruined his bike though... $25,000 pile of junk.
Riding is loads of fun... I love it. And as long as you watch out for other people on the road, and don't get too cocky, it's just as safe as driving a car (that guy could have very well gone off the road in a car and come out with similar injuries)..... and ALWAYS wear a helmet and riding gloves... safety gear saves your life, whether you go down or not.

accidents happen. if i or another driver makes a mistake, i'd rather have metal cage around me for protection.
not to say u can't get killed in a crash, or decapitated by a SUV while in a car. but being in a vehicle leaves more room for error when someone else does something stupid.
cause we had someone we know die 2 years ago at biker week in myrtle beach. going down the strip slowly with no helmet or shoes, a car pulled out and T-boned him. now his wife and daughter have to live without him.
but if u and your dad ride already, u know all this. didn't know u had a history with bikes when i first posted.

That's why I said watch out for other people on the road. Because they NEVER see you.
Hell, I had some old fart pull out in front of me while I was in my rex yesterday.... was cruising down the road on my way to work... the old guy never even looked in my direction and pulled out in the middle of the road. I was just glad I was paying attention and stopped with pleanty of room.... and then laid on my horn with my middle finger out the window.... he saw that.

well I just got back from Ottawa a few minutes ago, 3 hours and 15 minutes each way. Went and saw Down, Megadeth, and Heaven and Hell. It was such a great show, except for the fact that I may have actually blown my ear drum in my left ear (which was already kind of bad from years of drumming). But Down stole the show for sure. Phil (lead singer, and also lead singer for superjoint ritual and Pantera) kicked ass and got the crowd going right from the start. This is the best band I've ever seen live, and if you're into hard rock or metal, you should definently check them out (I would say they are not quite as heavy as Pantera). Megadeth was pretty cool, haven't really listened to them in years (10+), but they rocked. They did a really fast set, not even pausing for more than 5 seconds between the first 4-5 songs. Dave Mustane complained that they didn't have that much time so they had to go right into it (Down may have played a little longer than they were supposed to). About 20 minutes after they got off stage...Heaven and Hell. Ronnie James Dio (of Black Sabbath, and "Holy Diver" and "Rainbow in the Dark" fame), Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and some other dude. Dio piped it out just like he does on the records. And I was blown away by Iommi and Geezer (guitarist and bassist for Black Sabbath). I knew these guys were good, but they are absolutely insane. Unfortunately their drummer sucked ass. He was often off beat from the rest of the band, and then his drum "solo" came. Honestly I think I'm as good of a drummer as this guy is; and there are 20+ drummers in my area alone who are far better that I. I'm assuming he's either really good friends with some of the members of the band, or was just a drum tech who joined the band after the real drummer quit :p But it was the last show that all 3 bands will be playing together, so it was well worth the 3 hour drive. And being in Canadia, where they have marijuana seed banks all over wasn't half bad either

Ya know... I bought my PS2 almost exclusively for the GTA games, because they were bringing them out earlier for PS2 than xbox.... and since GTA4 is coming out at the same time for xbox this time, I can't justify spending double to play one game.
I think it's going to be a long time before any game comes out for PS3 that takes advantage of everything that it can do... and I'm probably going to hold off until that, and a price drop happens.
Pretty sure I'm going to buy a Wii though.

but why do people get so upset when they post that they want something done to their car, and you list your services for hire, and then they get all pissed off because they wanted it done for free?

there isn't much you can do about it other than not let it get to you. i'm going to have to assume you offered to do it less than it would be done for in a shop. so really it's their loss.

Yeah... he 'needed' an alignment 'bad'... and he 'needed' me to do it for free. Now I believe most places charge waaaaaayyyyy too much for alignments ($100-$175 around here) and I told him I'd do one for him for $40, since there's really not much to adjust on a stock GSR's suspension, and I'm not going to charge out the ass for something that can't really be adjusted... but he was pissed that I wouldn't do it for free.
And yes... time is money... so that was 20 minutes I didn't spend putting his car on the rack, mounting the sensors, and fighting with his probably seized 10 year old suspension parts... 20 minutes sooner I get to go home and relax.

My friend and his roommate deal with that a lot. My friend is one of the only people in the area (if not the only one) who knows how to work on Hondas and DSM's (engine swaps, putting on turbo kits, etc). And his roommate is the only person in the area who knows VW's like the back of his had. So people go to them when they want it done and done right. But no one wants to pay to have something done, not even some of his close friends. He gets calls all the time from people wanting him to go over to their houses and trouble shoot their problems (that they caused from not knowing what they were doing), or work on their cars; for free. At the busy times of the year (mid winter and mid summer), he literally stops answering his phone because of the aggravation. It's like saying "hey doctor, I'm feeling sick so could you give me an examination for free, just because you know how to do it."

Or you could have friends like mine that procrastinate and let you use the equipment but play videogames while you learn how to do it yourself. Whatever I couldn't fix on my CRX I had a shop do (which btw was relatively inexpensive and did good quality work for the most part). I bought a Jeep because I am related (by marriage) to the head mechanic at the Dodge Jeep dealership, who does amazing work and already helped me out for a sweet bargain discount. I'm going to have a new rear wiper motor and arm assembly installed down at his personal shop and will gladly fork over some cash or beer or whatever he wants for his time. The point is, and this is like my golden rule of used car ownership, if you want to own a used car that will eventually need work, find a mechanic who knows how to work on that type of vehicle first. See if their rates are agreeable and get to know them. Or if a family member knows a certain type of vehicle and is willing to work on your new to you ride then choose that type of vehicle to buy. But that would make too much sense and people seem to lack common sense for the most part... haha.

Hah... the director of the automotive technologies department, at the college I went to, found out I was an ASE master already and taking L1 next month (for advanced engine performance specialist), and he ask me if I would be interested in coming back to school and teaching automotive part time....wow.

If the money is good, why not? He must've been impressed with you.

It might be that he was impressed... I think I'm the only student, who wasn't already working as a technician, that graduated with a 4.0 average, and ASE master certification.
The money is pretty good... but the school is like where I work now.. 60 miles from home... so that would be a big thing holding me up...
I'd already been thinking about taking a job back here where I live at the local Toyota dealership, just to be back closer to home... but if I were to go up there and teach, it'd be better for me to stay working at my Lexus dealership and just go ahead and get a house in Dallas (Which I wasn't really keen on doing).

If the money is good maybe things will work out in Dallas. I wasn't about to move to the city here but then my wife started working at the same firm. We moved into the suburbs and I never break 50mph going to work. No more crazy southern wangan commute madness. I think I've added a few years back to my life since I've stopped commuting from the sticks to the city.
I've been thinking about getting a part time job in the evening selling cars. The motor mile here is just through the rich neighborhood from where I work now.
