i fought the law and, i won? timeline:

9:00am: We go to daughter's school to help with k-6 vision tests.

12:15pm: We are turning out of school parking lot when we see cop sitting at 2way stop sign. After we pass him the lights flash. pulls over for having 4 point racing harness and removing the factory equipment (umm, okay). give him license, registration, and can't find current ins....but have previous 4 yrs containing VIN & poilcy. Apparently when he ran Jer's name he came up with the 91 yellow Si we sold long ago. Cop approaches car and says it's being impounded due to expired ins. Jer tells him he has the wrong car and cop says too bad truck is in route. I whip out the celly and call ins and the lady says you do have ins so I try to give the phone to the cop and he says "no, I already verified'....so I took a step closer and shoved the phone further in his personal space. He gets on the phone tells her he verified and hangs up. I then call 911 and say theres about to be a problem. They dispatch a Sargent. While we are waiting Jer runs across the street to the school and has ins fax a copy of current ins. Jer shows this to the mnow present sargent, at this point FOR THE FIRST TIME they finally check the VIN on the car. the sargent shrugs and up goes the car on a flat bed anyways

1:00pm: go to cop shop paying $50 release to get my car and requesting a lutient call me.

1:20pm: picking up the car from impound. drop jer off at home, he's literally sick over it all. i run to the city attorney and show the bills, they say they will check the cop's report tomorrow and get back to me about a refund.

2:19pm: city lutient calls to say he spoke with the city attorney & they are going to refund my $50 city fee + $85 tow. i ask but what about the ticket? he was about to say failure to carry proof is failure but he stopped mid sentence and asked "what does the ticket say?" i whip it out and what do you know? the $242 ticket was for DRIVING UNINSURED :spit: so after i went down and showed the bullshit ticket, proof of ins, and all the bills it was dropped.

they impounded the wrong car because they never checked the VIN, and after being proven wrong they still let the car go to jail :nono: before i left i asked "is it illegal to bolt harnesses into factory location" and he couldn't answer me...."he'll look into it for me" so how is some local yocal gonna tell me when his boss don't know :icon16:

the whole time the cops were smug about the whole thing. when he was pulling away i said very loud as he passes by "you smile, it's not over yet"....now i feel good about saying that :loser:

All aftermarket harnesses are not legal in street cars. They are made differnt and have a limited time life, therefor do not meet DOT standards.

the one's with the date life on them are. shhh...mine aren't. he techinaclly said it was against the law to remove my factory belts.

i don't much care as my new daily driver arrived yesterday. i am now motivated to get it registered & ins tomorrow....undercover car. the ticket (court date) & fines are dropped/refunded, w00t!

damn pigs! All they are, are kids who got picked on in high school, so they need to feel like they have authority now. Of course they truth is that not all cops are dicks, just the majority of them.

you guys need to get sedan rear handles.....
1) no key hole to bust out
2) you need keyless entry alarm

those 2 features work well together......

except now they will break your window to get in :uhoh:

the window is better to replace than bending the metal back into place.
