Yes, notice the batchelor trim...that will be there for the rest of his life because no self respecting girl would marry a guy with a pink hummer.

Well... long time no see, peoples..... I'm officially a Toyota Technician now.
Moved to Dallas for better job opportunities and got put on as a medium-heavy line tech. horray for me!
Also, I still have my civic in my signature.... but I've removed both of the rear wings.... there is an N/A B18C5 in the works for it....... sorry no new pictures without the wings on, but a digital camera is very low on my list of priorities right now.... moving out of my parents house for the first time is rather stressful, and costly.

Yesterday I saw an EG Civic on the highway with what looked like a dead animal on the hood. I realized after we exited the freeway that the guy cut the hood so he could fit his intake manifold and the hoses were all flapping about. LOL He probably had an H22. He almost hit a curb almost going the wrong way off the exit... LOL

*Warning* - If you have to replace an engine with an auto tranny; do NOT under any circumstances rev an engine to 7000rpms (continually) when the engine is already knocking very loudly. This will F up your entire day. *End Warning*
My friend and I are doing an obd2a D16Y8 to a obd2b D16y7 engine swap in some kids '96 sedan. When he first drove it into the garage it was knocking really loud. So he decided to try see how well it would hold on. After reving it to 7000rpms for about 3 seconds, the engine went pop. We got to the point where were ready to take the engine out (disconnected all hoses and wires, IM, exhaust manifold), is where it all went wrong. We could not get the damn thing to come out. There was just not enough clearance to get it out without taking the tranny with it (which would have been quicker to begin with). And Honda has the shittiest design for their '96-? alternator bolt. Did they seriously do that as a joke just to piss off mechanics and the cars owner? It's a bolt with a flat square head (that gets slightly indented into the bracket) on one end, and then a NUT on the other! How the F*ckidy F*ck F*ck are you supposed to replace the alternator?! About 3 or 4 hours later, my friend decided to take off the oil pan so we could get the damn thing out and clear the side of the engine bay. My friend had planned on just getting it out of the tranny far enough so he could unbolt the torque converter, but with the engine popping...the f*cking crank wouldn't turn for us to get more than 2 bolts off. So, hence my warning. When we got it out, we looked at the bottom end (since we had the oil pan off; and it certainly wasn't hard to see what went wrong. The part of the girdle right below the #4 cylinder was broken off, the rod was destroyed, and the block was marred where the rod had been knocking. After that it took about 15 minutes to get the engine bolted in. 5:30 pm to 12 am, just to get an engine out and another one simply bolted in; pathetic. Realistically, we should have had it to the point of being ready to add coolant and oil; in that kind of time.

I'm looking at a 89? Mercury Tracer hatchback 5-speed with 135k miles for $1100. It's got a 1.6L sohc 8valve? I think. If I get it, the Mrs. will be learning stick and selling her Turbo Passat. Maybe I can talk him down a bit too. After all, it's got 155/75-13 tires which aren't exactly very safe IMO... haha.

Whoa wait a second....
The two other Tool albums and their EP are all heavier than APC and Lateralus. If you've heard anything off of Opiate, the EP that came out in '92, which I am sure you have, you should know that they started out fairly heavy. =)
Although, I have not heard the song yet though.... so for all I know it could sound like APC. I am going to sit in my car and wait for it to play on the rock station up here.

They were 15's. It was a spur of the moment thing. Couldn't decide if I wanted to sell them (cause I'm in need of $), or if I was just going to get the lip polished. And the new owner went and get the $ right then and there so I just did it without even thinking about it. But I'm looking for something a little lighter anyways; like some kind of honda rim or possibly some Rota J.SPL's.

Guess I just ment that when I heard they were working on the album I automatically thought it was going to be more psychedelic than heavy (seemed like they were going in that direction from album to album). But I haven't heard it on the radio yet (though it is supposed to be released today), I found it leaked on a site late last night. I can probably find it again if anyone wants me to PM them the link.

I went ahead and downloaded it. It reminds me a lot of the song structure that they used on Lateralus, but it seems to have some of the "contained" intensity of Aenima. Opiate and Undertow were very angstful and the intensity was kind of just... out there.
This song is great, and is a classic Tool seven minutes long. I don't think it sounds anything like APC though.

Only thing really lighter than Rotas in 15" are probably RacingHart rims which are super expensive. If you're going smaller size wheel, then you can get the 14" hx rims or the 13" vx rims or the 84-87 crx si rims 14" like mine that are 9lbs. Mine are the 4 hole phone dial ones. But I think the 84-85 ones were more square holed and I don't know how much they weigh. But since you have a newer car and you had Rotas you'll probably get something nicer right?
On the way to work today, I saw a white crx that looked decent minus the SiR sticker on the rear window and the upside down Acura emblem. WTF?

The Rota J.SPL's I'm looking at are around 11lbs, but I'm also looking at these: http://www.handaaccessories.com/civic/civ155spk.jpg Don't know how light those are, but I'd be willing to give up some weight for some sick Honda optional rims. But $600+ seems too expensive for me, so I'll probably just end up buying someone's used rims around here. Are these the phone dial ones you're talking about? http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v473/CivicSpoon/42700-SB2-850.jpg Square ones? http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v473/CivicSpoon/42700-SB2-910.jpg I have pics and part numbers for a ton of Honda/Acura rims on my computer. I spent a whole day searching them out online...damn was I bored that day.
That Skyline is pretty sick. The owner of the shop I hang around just bought a skyline engine yesterday, they want to put it in a 240sx for a drift car. Anyone know where I can get a skyline starter from? :p

Those phone dials are the ones I have. I know they're old school but they're lighter than stock 90-91 crx si rims which I never had to begin with. Those other ones are the older rims with the squarish shape to the holes too. I bet they were pretty cool though back in the 80's... haha. Those Honda rims you were looking at are sweet... of course, money is always an issue.
