I went to highschool for one month... way too easy... didn't like it... dropped back out. At the time the school looked more like a prison, and it was actually a school where kids got sent after they'd been kicked out of every other school, including court ordered alternative school... between class periods Waco Police patroled the halls with drug dogs searching people as they went between classes.... probably wasn't the best first experience for school.

Home schooled all the rest of my life... except for my dad teaching me higher mathematics (math genius) and my mom teaching me to read (romance novelist), I'm completely self taught........ and no reunions to speak of.

Well, it looks like my CRX may already be sold.. I posted it on Craigslist today and by the time I got back from going out tonight I already had an email from a serious buyer who is willing to pay on the spot...Makes me think that I asked too low. I put it up for 2k. However I know the mass of problems it has but if this guy is that eager he might have bought it regardless for 2500, or even 3..oh well. It is better than what I was GOING to do with it. Which is strip all of the perf. parts off of it and put them on the hatch. Then I would just have a non rolling shell. And a hatch with a rickety b16 and rough riding coil overs. I think with the money off the car I could either do a nice SOHC turbo setup (although I really dont like SOHC, im spoiled) or buy a whole new b series swap.

amy@af
06-10-2007, 01:56 PM
don't be spoiled, lol! if you do it right you'll be happy. jer finally sunk sometime in tuning up the turbo civic we just traded for. it suprised us when we test drove it. it's torquey...from a dead stand still it will do a burn out starting in 2nd. would try 3rd but the clutch can't hang.

So I was reading old reviews. The K20a2 is the Type-S and the K20a3 is the 02-04 Si engine. You'll want the a2 unless you find a type-r engine k20a. I'm still new to this whole K thing... haha.

With what in it exactly ami? Im still trying to figure out what to do with my $350 hatch (god i got a steal).

Well, my baby is gone. Sold today after driving it up to Orlando. at least the guy was nice and gave me $50 for gas and my troubles..although I had to knock 200 off because the starter (of course) decided to start making fun noises when we got there. And I overtightened the alternator (im a moron) and it starting touching the frame rail on right hand corners and when you shifted hard. Plus he didnt know about the crack in the windshield. I just wish I would have gotten my alpine 9853 out of it....and the viper system too.

congrats on the sell.

well plans change again. i have decided to scrap the k20a idea. after much debate and financial planning. it would take way to long. however, i think i want to go with a b16b and keep it all motor, and go jdm as possible. and i figure a carbom fiber hood, trunk, and fenders, with the top of the car being black and the bottom red. idk i figure it would be way cheaper and still have plenty of style. i would really want a rhd conversion, but i don't think i could get use to it.

geez i hate rambling.

so I get online today, and visit some of the usual sites I visit daily. everything seems normal, until I'm about to leave 1 site. all of the sudden, it starts installing programs like crazy. my firewall gets turned off automatically, and my anti-virus program starts going nutz. Trojan Horse downloader, Trojan horse backdoor, trojan horse this, trojan horse that. I just spend the past 2 hours trying to clean everything up and I don't think i'm done yet. Probably going to have to reformat my hard drive and start all over again. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Edit: Well, I'm screwed...time to reformat :frown:

haha. the strange thing is that it wasn't even a porn site (I'd admit it if it was). I'm back online again, just downloading all the windows updates. The first round is 64 in total, and I know there are going to be a lot more by the time I'm done. The 1 problem I'm having is installing my monitor driver; there's no place to update it. I look at the display>settings>advanced>monitor and there's nothing to click on to change the driver, or even look at the driver details. I seem to recall running into this problem every time I reformat. Hopefully I'll figure it out after I'm done installing drivers and updates.

Does anybody know what the mpg is for a 99-00 Si (not revving the piss out of it)? Did they ever make a white Si those years?

Killa_CRX
06-13-2007, 09:35 AM
The lug nuts could have also been over tightend and just snapped off from the stress.... but if you can leave that many lug nuts loose and not realise it... you probably shouldn't breed.

Can't remember what it's supposed to be for them, but when I had my Del Sol VTEC (same engine and such) I was getting about 30mpg highway. And no, they never made a white Si in the 6th gen body style... only blue, black, and red.

Explanation from the vortex:

They were tight when he put them on, the car passed tech inspection.

The explanation was given to me by people who are far more mechanically inclined than me, e.g. they bring their race cars to SCCA events in covered trailers.

Apparently the threads on the wheel studs were different than the threads on the lugs. The felt tight because some portions of the threads were in contact with the lugs and sufficient to hold the wheel on when the car was stationary or moving slowly.

However, as soon as the car reached a certain speed, enough force was generated to rip the threads out of the lugs; the threads in the lugs themselves were stripped out of the lugs are were laying on the track and stuck to the guy's new Toyos.

The example given to me was of an old car whose wheels actually rusted to the hubs; you can beat the wheels with a mallet and shake the car back and forth and the wheels won't come off, but you can then drive the car slowly and they will loosen enough that they can be removed.

I suppose that a really experienced racer (like the guys that figured out what happened) might have recognized that the lugs were wrong, but weekend amateurs- like me- would probably assume that the lugs were OK as long as you could torque them to the proper setting and they felt like they were properly affixed.

Bummer for the car, it was really, really nice- pristine condition. Hopefully the tire company owns up to its mistake and does the right thing so he can get the car back on the road.
