I was just playing, dude. I used to be the biggest Korn-head back in the mid-nineties (before anybody ever heard of them). I've seen Soulfly 3 times, met Max Cavallera... seen Fear Factory three times, met the drummer, had a beer with Burton Bell at Ground Zero in SC. I've seen Monster Magnet twice... dude lit his guitar on fire at both shows. Last show I saw was Skinny Puppy. I even liked Slipknot for awhile back in the day. I still have a bunch of metal cds but I'm hearing impaired so I listen mostly to trance, techno and lounge music now.
BTW, Happy F***in' Birthday to me...

well had my first race in a good while...i was in my friends 98 3.2TL and he was in the 92 Prelude he just puchased...
we did a couple runs...
1st was about a 60-90 run...when we punched it i had him, but he slowly started to pull, then when he shifted he started to pull on me
2nd was about a 80-120 run...due to the auto transmission in the TL, when i hit the gas there was a short delay...long enough for him to get abuot a 1/2 car ahead then slowly start pulling away
3rd and last - from a stop light. light turned green and he had me off the line...had about a car length before we shut down

Well... 3 weeks into the job, and Toyota dealership technician is not shaping up like I'd hoped it would... is very discouraging when the most challenging problem that comes into the shop on a regular basis valve cover leaks on the V6 camrys and such.
Oil leaks and 30k, 60k, and 90k service checks are the majority of the shop work that I've seen in 3 weeks. Not exactly what I'd had in mind getting into this field......
I'm pretty sure now, I'm going to go back to school for some electronics degrees and see about either getting on at a performance shop where I can do wiring or ECU programming, or get back into car audio and do high end installs professionally... because it's looking like I'm not going to get my technology fix from working for Toyota.
In the mean time, I'm going to look around for a Honda dealership job and see if there's any difference... because Toyota's line of vehicles just seems very bland to me, and I just can't get into the product enough to like it.

I had expected something a little more technically challenging.
I guess I was expecting to put more of what I learned in school to good use... stuff like testing sensors and circuits, and engine performance diagnostics... like my 4.0gpa and certifications say I'm qualified to do.
I'm just more interested in the technical side of things, instead of patching up oil leaks and balancing tires for picky customers.

I have to say this is the most unique artwork I have seen come with an album since the days of vinyl. I baught it, then went back and baught two more copies just to keep unopend for a few decades. This will be undoubtably amung the top three albums of the year.

It's part of my future plans, I don't even have an engine yet. Plan to do a higher compression (around 10:1) and a Zex cam for a while, and then do some low boost with some dsm parts (turbo, smic, bov). A lot of my friends/ acquaintances are into DSMs, so they have a ton of old parts laying around that I could probably pick up cheap; figure I might as well do something inexpensive if I'm going to do anything at all. It'll be another year before I really start the project, I'll just get the parts piece by piece when I can. And I wish I could find 87 octane gas, I only see 89 around here.
I can't wait to hear the new Tool album, might pick it up today if I've got time. I've been waiting for it for months (since I first heard they were working on it). Should be some good stuff.
Edit - Bought the album today... HOLY SH*T!

Something that pissed me off about their new album and the new tool album is that neither have traditional booklets with them, the tool one is glued to the case, and the pearl jam one is not shaped the same as a regular book, so it doesnt fit in a cd holder book thingy right.

Something is really messed up with me. For the past few days I've been having a very painful problem with my left ear, especially at night and the early morning. In that little indent behind the ear where my jaw bone meets the back of my neck/skull, there is something sticking out of it. It feels like a little round ball just pushing out. And the pain is from the middle back of my ear, all the way down to the middle of my neck. Almost feels like a muscle or gland is trying to squeeze out between the bones. The only other time I recall this happening was when I was 7 and had Mono. Damn I frigging flipping out...
turtlecrxsi
05-05-2006, 12:44 PM
It's either a swollen lymph node gland (immunity thing to help ward off infection) or a cyst. Take a mirror and hold it so you can look at it in comparison to pictures on the Internet of cysts and lymph nodes by the ears and see what you come up with. There is a lot of that kind of stuff on the Internet to help settle your nerves or speed your ass to the ER... whatever the case may be.
CivicSpoon
05-05-2006, 01:13 PM
I'm thinking it could be an ear infection. It's definently not a cyst, because it just appreared a few days ago. It started Tuesday night without warning and hurt a little the next day, went away Wednesday night and all yesterday, up until late last night when it started hurting again; even more. All the pics I found online don't really show where I'm having the problem. The pics of the lymph nodes show them way too low on my neck. My pain's right in that pit behind the ear lobe. But my mom had some antibiotics left over, so I'm going to take those for a few days and hope it gets better.
turtlecrxsi
05-05-2006, 01:38 PM
Yeah, I've had that happen before. Sounds like an ear infection. There are lymph nodes there too but they might be called something else... basically the same thing. Antibiotics should work...

Shit, it's f*cking killing me now. Trying to get into the docs today, but of course they're busy as hell. But at least they're trying to get me in with a different doc than earlier this week. The doc I went to earlier this week was the same doc I went to a few years ago; when I was sick for an entire YEAR (it was actually a few days more than a year) and the jackass couldn't figure out what was wrong with me. I'm seriously considering stabbing myself in the ear.
Edit - Ok... I'm an idiot. Well when I went to the docs earlier in the week, the doc noticed I had a pimple in my ear (not in the canal or anything), and told me to use a hot compress to get rid of it. So I just got back from seeing a different doc. She said that the pain I'm feeling is because the lymph node closest to the zit is sucking all the poisons and infection out, which is causing the lymph node to swell and be irritation. 2 doctors appointments in 1 week for a fucking zit! That son of a bitch is getting popped tonight. The shame...the shame...

Angels on the sideline baffled and confused. "Father blessed them all with reason, and this is what they choose? Monkey killing monkey, killing monkey,
over pieces of the ground. Silly monkeys. Given thumbs they forge a blade
and then theres one bound to divide it right in two. Monkey killing monkey, killing monkey, over pieces of the ground. Silly monkeys. Give them thumbs,
they make a club and beat their brother down. How they survive so misguided is a mystery. Repugnant, is the creature who would squander the ability, to lift an eye to heaven, coscience of his fleeting time here. Brothers sleep inside here."
Cut it all right in two
"Fight over the clouds, over wind, over sky. Fight over life, over blood, over air. Fight over love, over sun, over another. Fight each other, over..."
Angels on the sideline again, been so long with patience and reason. Angels on the sideline again, wondering when this tug of war will end.
Cut it all right in two. Right in two"
Deep Maynard, deep. And shockingly religious, seeing as how Maynard apparently used to give out business cards stating his name was "Jesus H. Christ".

over pieces of the ground.
Christ".

Sellout. Unless you buy another H/A, then I take that back.

I'm not really a honda person anyway. Need to make some room for the truck I'm fixing to buy.

I knew it would be a lymph node and most likely a zit.
Well, I noticed a small leak by the waterpump. Car runs great cuz I reset the timing back to stock but being a ricer has its disadvantages I guess. I reckon I'll get the timing belt and water pump replaced. Since it requires getting the crank pulley bolt off and motormount loose and I suck at life, this would be better taken care of by the shop that only works on Hondas. They are actually quite reasonable with labor charges.
Seriously considering trading in the wife's Passat for something with less miles and more reasonable...

Yeah. It's still there, it's just a tiny little thing. I can't get rid of it no matter what I try (clearasil, hot water, hydrogen peroxide, stabbing it with a needle). Oh well, live and learn.
The t-belt wouldn't be too bad if you have jack stands and a floor jack, but I bet the water pump would be a pain in the ass. Of course without air tools, things get even harder.
