Got woken up at 5:15am this morning from some jackass with the "wrong number". It's the second time this person has called me (with a Restricted Number"). The first time it was some girl and guy, and after I asked who it was they said for me not to worry about it and then I hear a loud ass modem sound :screwy: Today it was obviously some young kid calling and when I told him he had the wrong number for the 2nd time, he says "don't be hatin'" :wtf: What really makes me uneasy is that my friend lost his phone a day or 2 before the first call came in, but he lives out in the country so I doubt someone else found it.

Oh...and it snowed like 3-4 inches last night. Guess I have to stop being lazy and put on my studded snow tires now.

so its cold as a polar bear's balls in chicago right now. This is my car's first winter since I've been in tallahassee every winter since I've had it. As I walk away from the car I hear a hissing sound :shakehead

Figuring I caught a leak in a tire, I roll back and inspect, but no visible punctures and now the hiss has stopped. Now I hear a drip drip drip from under the hood. Nothing hitting the ground, so its something internal. Fucking awesome! Just in time for me to make the 1500 mile trip from Chicago to Detroit to Jacksonville to Tallahassee in 4 weeks. This should be fun

it's been sub 20's at night here :frown:

we help out a lot around the daughter's school. the school has decided to enter a float in the snowflake parade. we were invited to ride the float which would be great if the parade wasn't 7:00pm...and the 9yr old isn't hearing anything about cold :banghead:

00accord44
12-05-2006, 08:34 PM
who told them it was a good idea to have a parade outside in the winter at night!? :screwy:

So you're in a no-win situation... your options:

A) Chalk the parade idea and piss off the 9 yr old
B) Go to parade, freeze, and get sick
C) Go to parade, freeze, and daughter gets sick... you spend the next week taking care of sniffles etc
D) Go to parade, freeze, daughter is fine, but gets sick at school because every other kid got sick in the cold

Speaking of parade floats... the town near me had a parade and some drunk guy sped through town driving the lead float with some kids on it. He got so busted...

I don't have a leg to stand on. her DR doesn't believe cold causes colds. I guess some study was done long ago... I wanna say it's nazi related but I dunno for sure. I guess they took a group of people and stuck them under sprinklers in the cold and nothing happened.

as for school they have the kids play outside everyday unless it's snowing really good. I swear like only 3 days during the entire winter qualifies for indoor (in gym) play.

so I guess my option is:
E) bundle up the kid really good, grin & bear it

It has been proven multiple times that tempature has no relation to the "cold" sickness.

00accord44
12-07-2006, 04:21 PM
surely there must be some chain of events that links the cold to the abundance of sicknesses that circulate during the winter months

Or is it that there are just as many sick people year round and we only notice the sickness during the winter since we're brought up to believe that cold=sick??? A lil cognitive misattribution?

I tried to post in here, but apparently it didn't work.

But the cold weather weakens your immune system. So if you already have something in your system, you're more likely to get sick from it than in warm weather.

So I did the whole NYC city thing this weekend. Went to Rockefeller Center saw the tree. Did the ice skating went to fao schwartz, Central Park, Macy's, Tiffanys, Disney store then ended the night with How the Grinch Stole Christmas on Broadway. Not a bad date. Ice skating real fun I haven't done that since i was a little boy.

:icon16:

the weekend before last our city slickin' arses decided to get a forrestry permitt ($5) and cut down our x-mas tree. it was our roomie jon, jer, vic, my bro, and myself. my brother proceeds to cut the first tree he finds and then starts bugging for us to cut one. so we find a decent tree. a bare spot from growing next to another tree but it's over-all good. my brother throws the trees in the truck and ratchets them down :uhoh: get home and unload the tree to find my brother broke some branches on the opposite side of the bare spot. put a bare spot in the corner and a bare spot still shows sweet! we have a 10ft charlie brown tree. :banghead: since we have gone out and killed it we felt too bad to get rid of it. I got creative with forrest green garland (not the shiny stuff) and carefully placed orniments......it looks like a normal tree :screwy: :dunno:

w00t for a christmas miracle! :grinno:

I haven't had to deal with a christmas tree in years. Once my mom realized we wouldn't care if the tree was eliminated, she scrapped it. Now there's a festive christmas table... yes, a Christmas table... and just like the tree we used to use, the Christmas table doesn't get put away til about August :disappoin

My family is one step away from celebrating Festivus

Is the Christmas table at least shaped like a tree?

turtlecrxsi
12-13-2006, 04:00 PM
Whiners!

At least you don't have a hand-me-down fake tree from your parents. Yes, I have a fake tree because I'm supposedly allergic to real trees. And this fake tree is cut/broke at the top. I thought that was the reason for my getting it. But it turns out that my dad cut the top on purpose to fit it in their low ceiling place. That's not the bad part. The bad part is my parents are notorious for their use of moth balls. After dousing the tree with half a can of Lysol and half a bottle of Febreze it still smells like mothballs. But in the corner all lit up with the ornaments it looks really nice... so I guess I can't complain. And looking at it really puts me in the x-mas spirit.

Tis the season to bust out the slot track. I have one of those slot car tracks in my study all year round collecting dust. I cleaned it up and took some sand paper to the metal contacts... got a nice new AFX SRT H.O. slot car too... old Shelby Cobra Daytona. After the the track gets enough electrical current in it, the way I have it set up, the cars fucking fly!!!!! If I get a video camera for x-mas, I'll record it and post it up.
