well I really messed up this time. I cleaned out my computer yesterday and got rid of a huge thing of dust. So I decided to take off the processor and heatsink to try and clean the dust under it...big f*cking mistake. I put it back the wrong way and bent a bunch of pins on the processor. So I calmly took a little screw driver and a tooth pick and got them all back in place, or so I thought. When I turned it on, all I heard was the fan kick on an nothing else. So I took it apart again and saw that one of the pins was straight at the top but about half way down it was still bent. So I tried to get it just right and tragedy struck. I broke a pin off :banghead: So now I have to figure out what I'm going to do. It's a 2.8Ghz H-T P4, so if I bought the same one, it's going to cost me at least $200; and I don't have that kind of $ right now. I wish there was a way I could just have it soldered back on, but I highly doubt anyone could with it being so tiny and there being no space there. So I'm not going to be around for quite a while... Peace out gangstas.

So far from what I've read online, there might be hope for me after all. I read a lot of people having luck with soldering in a new pin. Now I just have to call around to find someone who will actually be able to do it. The pin I'm missing is listed as VCC Power/Other, so I might be out of luck, but I'd rather spend $30+ to let someone try than to spend $200-300 for a new compatible processor. This is the last time I mess with anything electronic. PS2...Dead, Computer...Dead, Sanity...gone.

My car decided to fuck up on the way home yesterday. The symptoms were, seemingly loss of power for no reason then it died on the side of the road. I suspected the distributor which has a lifetime warranty so I get to pick up the new one after work. I hope it does the trick. There seem to be no visible signs of anything wrong. Timing belt checks out with marks on AEM adjustable cam gear at 0* so no movement on the teeth. Also, no codes. Pretty much a PITA...

How old is your timing belt? my cousin has some teeth on his timing belt break off at the crank, so the crank and everything was turning, but the belt was just slipping and nothing else was moving... I was pulling my hair out trying to fix that damn thing before I realized what was actually wrong.

The timing belt probably does need replacing. It just doesn't want to move. It seems to be locked up. I just called the shop I go to that fixes Hondas. I bet the tow is going to rape me. If it's a an easy doable fix then I'll get it fixed at least to drive back and forth to work and save on gas. But if it's going to cost more than what I can swap in then fuck it...

I know a guy who had a similar problem, with the car starting but the cam not moving. I don't think he ever found the problem though, and just ended up doing a head swap. But if you find out why it's doing that, I'd be interested to know.

couldn't be a lack of tension? is there a belt tensioner? if so is/was it tightenend? maybe something between cam and either head of cam cover was jamming against one of the lobes.

Could be but I don't think so. Belt tensioner was tight. I don't use the top cover on the belt by the cam gear and can see everything there. The cam timing was still right. I took the cam/valve cover off as well to make sure the cam wasn't snapped apart (which has happened to others before). I'm certain the mechanics at "Especially Honda" will figure it out. They are honest conservative folks that work on only Hondas and have very reasonable labor prices. I'm sure the tow charge will be outrageous though (like 20 miles).

WTF? I've had this cam gear since I bought the car. I also use this car to commute 80+ miles a day. Unlike others, I don't like fiddling with my fucking POS 16 year old car in my free time.

They fixed my car. Apparently the timing belt broke on the bottom end. They replaced the belt, water pump and oil seal. No damage to the head either. How lucky is that. Jeez. And it only cost the price of a timing belt job anyway...

The face plate to the stereo was missing and I thought some crackhead stole it but these people lock the cars up in a fenced in area and pull face plates and keep them inside... tight operation. I sleep on a futon and I'm usually high when I go to sleep, so I didn't even notice it. And it wasn't my ass, it was the front of my right leg that did it.

I slept on a concrete floor once, woke up with a little morning wood and rolled over onto my stomic and poked a hole strait though the foundation, no joke.

So I gave my old distributor as a core for a perfectly shitty replacement that is fucking my car up. My nephew works at part store so I'll have him get a good one. If it's not that, then I don't know what is... nor do I care. It's not really worth my time to worry about it, when there is more in life to do.
