I wonder if all the leg work that the ins companies make customers do is logged on the balance sheet as a Gain since it saves them labor hours that would have sadly become the responsibility of their own employees... that would be tragic

Little update:
Bought a few things as I'm on holidays for two weeks - gotta love teaching. Actually, I need it as the transmission on the E30 is whining at 80km/h :(
The windows were binding when raised and looking at the rubber channels/surrounds I could see it was a bit dirty and dry. OCD time kicked in and out with water (no soap) to clean the channels and mist/wipe down the area that the glass touched with silicon lubricant (no comments thanks :D ). Problem solved and the glass moves quickly and the motors no longer strain at the half-way point.
Brand new mats (thanks Jeremy) being the most expensive but well worth it for me. These are more backups/display only as the original driver's side cops the heel of my shoes - now I can get a protector pad put on them and not stress over taking away from the factory look (I have a "factory look" mindset from the days of my EF9 - mods as long as it can be reverted to stock).
http://members.iinet.net.au/~setanta/dc2r/DSCN0182.jpg
New radiator cap as the Cusco's rubber was looking a bit average. Not leaking, but pre-emptive replacement. Socks to pretty up the engine bay and contrast to the yellow and a certain red clip that came with the mat.
http://members.iinet.net.au/~setanta/dc2r/DSCN0185.jpg
Cap on
http://members.iinet.net.au/~setanta/dc2r/DSCN0190.jpg
Socks on and looking pretty but looking at the photos I see a bit of dirt around the ridge of the master cylinder. I was going to get the cotton buds out tomorrow to clean down a few bits tomorrow and have added this to the list (OCD sucks big time!).
http://members.iinet.net.au/~setanta/dc2r/DSCN0191.jpg
Engine bay wiped down with a clean cloth, didn't come back dirty other than a touch of oil off the blanked off turbo oil line on the sump - tightened the clamp and cleaned it up. Wiped down the hoses etc and closed the bonnet before I went nuts.
http://members.iinet.net.au/~setanta/dc2r/DSCN0193.jpg
Ok so on to the item that I was most excited about. What I loved about my EF9 SiR was how it was so superior to any Aussie delivered Honda (bar the NSX) of it's time and even through the Aussie EGs and EKs. Little things like "Oh your mats are slipping? Here, we'll hook it in place for you". The 'tegs mats did this too and it's been annoying to scrunch over the bolster and have the mat ruckle up (especially when you are a short-arse and have the seat close to the wheel :D ).
Enter the mats that Jeremy sold me, complete with red hook. Ok, maybe not the metal one in my EF9 but a plastic one - and DC2R's all being about lightweight... plastic makes sense right? Well anyway time to fit. Pretty obvious except that googling the fitting so I didn't wreck the carpet only brought back a few hits on USDM hooks for their ugly mats. The premise was the same and looking closely, Honda had pre-cut 90% of the carpet and a quick 1cm cut was all that was needed to access the mount behind:
http://members.iinet.net.au/~setanta/dc2r/DSCN0187.jpg
Push the tab into the mounting point and it clicks home
http://members.iinet.net.au/~setanta/dc2r/DSCN0188.jpg
Mat over the top:
http://members.iinet.net.au/~setanta/dc2r/DSCN0189.jpg
and now I can get in and out without the map ruckling up.
http://members.iinet.net.au/~setanta/dc2r/DSCN0195.jpg
Then I notice the dirt etc on the carpet and get the vacume out only to have my daughter scold me for getting too caught up in the car and that I should be spending time with her. :)
Probably overly detailed for small things, but I figured why the hell not :)

Ehhhh I'm not a big fan. 200 hp and 34mpg is nice but nothing spectacular for a car that size in today's market. The styling seems like a mashup of the new Scion coupe and a Hyundai Tiburon. I think for the money they want, you can get a better overall package, but thats IMHMFO (In My Humble Mother Fncking Opinion)
My favorite thing about the car is the list of Performance Mods they have available in the Build Your Own portion of the website.
11 available "Performance" options.....
5 License Plate Frames
1 CF Key Fob
2 Battery Tie Downs
2 Oil Caps
1 Valve Stem Set

It looks like the Scion because it is the new Scion. Toyota and Subaru got together to make both cars. Will explain why the Scion has a boxer engine in it now.
00accord44
07-19-2012, 08:33 AM
Ahhhh.... that's a wierd automotive marriage. I would think you get a bigger sales splash by offering an AWD vehicle under the Scion label (or Toyota if they want to start with their moneymaker) rather than to offer a boxer engine which 90% of drivers have never heard of, let alone cared about.

Yeah its a joint effort. It has the Toyota direct injection system on it if I remember right. I think they look nice, but I too would like a AWD version... and and sti version. I see it as a car along the lines of the miata, small rwd good handling fun car- not like a true sports car entry.

Our current annual earning of approximately $0.00 does not allow for a rich compensation, but I would be more than willing to strike a formal agreement for future payout :naughty:
So yeah, basically I'm talking to you, TSC if there is spare time for such things with Reunite Pangea in full swing. You have quite the track record of both bannings and design..... not sure which is more notorious

Our Aussie versions are a Toyota 86 base model, Subaru BRZ then Toyota top of the line 86 GT. For once we got the Toyotas cheaply too - Subaru brand name tax on the BRZ though. This didn't stop the BRZ from selling out online in 3 hours.

I have experienced the tragedy of the decade..... ok not really
I swapped my front turn bulbs for LED a couple months ago, but the one on the drivers side only works part of the time. Seemed to be due to the bulb just not sitting correctly in the harness. Figuring that the Left signal is the more critical (since its the one oncoming traffic is most concerned with), I decided to swap sides and deal with the part-time signal situation for the Right side instead. You probably see where this is headed....
I swap them around and now BOTH work only part time, and more like never. The load resistors I used to prevent hyperblink must be set in such a way that they need a precise and steady angle to complete the circuit. So now I basically have no front turn signals and no clear solution other than to scrap it all and go back to the filament bulbs. Woe, woe, woe is me :banghead:

Pop quiz hot shot...
You get a ticket for facing the wrong way on a one way. The ticket says $75 for your offense. You go to the Lake County Courthouse to pay (figured out who this is about yet?) and the chick behind the counter says "$120"..... Why?? Because the cop who wrote the ticket used an outdated pad with the old fee scale and failed to slap a corrective sticker on it. Options??
1) just pay the $120 and be done
2) go to the court date to fight it
3) curse up a storm about how garbage your current county of residence is and then complain to an internet audience consisting of yourself and the only other guy that hasn't figured out that the others have jumped ship or joined cults
What do you do??

You get a ticket for facing the wrong way on a one way. The ticket says $75 for your offense. You go to the Lake County Courthouse to pay (figured out who this is about yet?) and the chick behind the counter says "$120"..... Why?? #3 and then #2. If the officer made one mistake, how do you know they didn't make another, that resulted in the ticket being given in the first place.
Or ask to see the legal document that states they can charge more than what the ticket states. If they can't provide one, demand to only be charged the amount written on the ticket.
