ever read an NHRA or IHRA or any other racing saction rules? If you have you'd know why. There has to be a firewall between driver and battery. So if you ever plan to do any racing at a track your going to get a no go if its in the hatch.

nope. if you relocate to the back of the car, in lieu of a rear firewall it can be mounted in a sealed metal box or an approved ploy box (such as the one made by Moroso) and the battery must be mounted to the car (meaning the box shoudnt be what keep the battery in place).

I've been looking into these rules cause i need to do something about my battery when it comes time to put my turbo kit on.

I thought that was only allowed in cars with trunks and not hatchbacks. Could be wrong though. I'm mounting mine behind either drivers side or passengers side fender.

why not just beat your battery try into submission and then reform it to seat the battery lower. that is what jer did for me...

I had it 5" with springs but I want it lower. I'm working on some new side skirts that should make it look about 3" lower. My idea height is 1-2" off ground. This isnt my daily drivers so driving issues arnt really a problem.

Aren't the 2.7 944s still SOHC? I had a 1985.5 2.5 NA 944 and it was a nice car but not as much fun as my Honda. I'm sure the 89-90 model in Europe is much nicer over there... after all Germany is a lot closer to you.
