Basic is 14 weeks, after that I may come home for a short time (Two weeks) Unless I go to airborn which is another three weeks and asuming I get rip thats another three weeks + three months and then I do have a special forces intent in my contract so if I do that dont plan on hearing from me for the next five years or so as I will be in afganistan looking for osama.

Wait, you will probably see me/hear from me around christmass unless I am in iraq/afganistan... Which is actualy very probable since I am active duty. From what I understand, my tour to iraq/afganistan will depend on when the unit I get assigned to ratates back in, this alows the army to let the guys get a break (Usualy) while they fill the positions of the dead/wounded guys.

Ither way, I ought to be having alot of fun while you are still sitting on your ass in your safe little cubicle and getting paid for nothing. :grinno:

Getting paid for nothing? I've got news for you, those same people sitting in their 'safe little' cubicle's are going to be getting paid much better than you do (don't believe me? Wait 'til you get your first check). And the small percentage of people not getting paid more than you can at least say they aren't getting shot at every day.

More power to you. You'll be getting paid next to nothing to live in a tent (if you're lucky), eat MRE's & walk around with 50lbs of junk on your back.

Maybe you don't remember our previous conversation... I'm deployed right now - in some country I'm sure you've never heard of, serving the same country as you've volunteered to defend. My "ever so safe and comfy cubicle" is a steel collapsable building surrounded by Hesco barriers (basically huge sandbags) topped with spools of barbed wire. There's nothing safe or comfy about it.

I'm not trying to argue with you about anything. We're both basically doing the same thing. My only point to this rant is not to bite the hand that feeds you. The very same taxpayers that "work for nothing" are gonna be paying your salary.

And respect is earned - not demanded. People may respect what you do (as a member of the military), but that doesn't mean they will respect you as a person....but you'll learn all about that real soon :iceslolan
