Run the pooop out of it Gir! :evillol:

Hum, I checked our local rental enterprise and I can rent a Stang(V8) from Friday night to Sunday for $100.
 Bring it back with bald tires

grfnkl
03-02-2007, 08:57 AM
Ok 90 for the entire time sounds much better. I was about to say! I rent for about 30 a day around here. and that gets me a compact - "mid" size car. The only difference is i normally end up with an upgrade by the time i walk out! For instance I was supposed to get an Aveo/metro got a grand am-- supposed to get a G6 got a sante fe. only once did i get something lower, and that was I was supposed to get an upgrade right off the bat, a nice brand new ford escape.... well that went by the waste side and they gave me a freakin KIA with no gas. I wasn't very happy with that one!

Definetly beat it up Gir! it's a toyota, it's gonna break anyways! LOL

Xi, put a bumper sticker on the SE that says you have an honor roll student in someschool. That'll make it look even more like a grocery getter!

Gir-_-
03-02-2007, 01:12 PM
i dont even see why someone would want something bigger like a mid or full size car.... I just need something to get me to B from A .. ill just tear it up on the way there haha

brakes work good to, some guy in a parking lot I was in wasnt even paying attention to look my way and here I come flyin down in that first gear

Its come to my attention that doing the heater core doesnt fit my wallet situation so im just going to by-pass it seeing its almost summer and I dont have that kind of money to spend at the moment lol

I still gotta get to the dealership after coolant is fixed to point out my power steering pump on where it is leaking at if they can help me out with that, only place to get the leaky sensor and the new variable timing pump is from the dealer here grrr

Gir-_-
03-04-2007, 09:58 AM
so heater core has been bypassed, bought 2 90degree couplings 5/8th and bought a 5/8ths hose for the middle section, I didnt have time to do it so I took it to my kwik kar guy, they managed to break I think one of the plastic pieces that stick out from the firewall.. grrr but at least its fixed I guess...

I need to go buy more coolant and purge the air out of the system, not sure how affective it'll be if I still use the slight incline method with no heater core but there is def air still in there cause my low coolant light is on...

Just been so busy, now im glad I have this rental car :gay: cause Im doing so much while my GA is just in the driveway sitting clean. My guy at kwik kar and I found out the new pump placed onto my GA wasnt the correct one (but it still works :dunno:) I need the pump with the variable timing w/e... the more expensive one, and hes going to just do it at my house w/o having the shop charge from it....

its leaking out from the sensor under the 2 lines on the actual pump, not keeping pressure so its just flowin out when I turn.... if I keep fluid in it I should be ok till its fixed...

I drove my GA home yesterday after the HC bypass and it didnt feel like the GA anymore lol... I realized how badly my brakes SUCK!, and theres a problem with the lines or something... its just not getting to both calipers but ill worry about that later... I just need it fixed asap so I can get this rental car off of my hands, so I dont rip out the first gear haha :evillol:

:iagree: I know that feeling! Well at least it's somewhat taken care of so far, until you can get it fully fixed. I can say i hated the brakes on the g/a! Mine were never quite right, and the abs constantly kicked in. While you have the rental have fun with it... as I always look at it that my car won't be getting more miles, plus it's someone elses problem after i turn it in! :grinyes:

Yesterday i finally got the 6 washed... so now it's back to its original blue/gray color, and it's cloudy and flurrying today... :disappoin When i was driving home since it was windy as hell a box flew into the front of the car and scratch as well as took a chunk of paint off the bumper... i wasn't very happy with this.:swear:

Here's a new report on fender bender crash tests (http://www.iihs.org/news/rss/pr030107.html) that came out the other day. Now i know i have to be careful with the G6 (http://www.iihs.org/video.aspx?f=releases/pr030107.flv) and not have an accident

G6 News:

Look for the GTP's 6-speed automatic to be available for other G6s in the near future. GM plans to use this transmission to boost mpg for most of its mainstream car lines. The next year or two could also bring even sportier GXP models with the 3.6-liter engine, plus performance-tuned suspension, tires, and other unique features. Looking ahead, sources expect G6 to be redesigned for model-year 2010 on GM's new Epsilon II front-drive architecture. Current models are first-generation Epsilons. The new platform premieres in North America with redesigned 2008 Chevrolet Malibu sedans.

G6 GXP? Could that mean supercharged? :naughty: :evillol:

grfnkl, I saw some of those reports on CNN too.

I always though that these new cars were made to break away. But its your wallet that gets broken :angryfire

The way the fronts line up to other cars and gaurd rails, you bang into something and its $4500 in damages.:disappoin

Gir, sounds like you need overhauled !
Go sign up for "pimp my ride" on MTV website.
That would be tits!

grfnkl
03-05-2007, 06:27 PM
G6 GTP --- could be supercharged! The body kit for it isn't all that great though. Large front grille, make the car look like it has buck teeth.

I have to agree with XI, i think you need to be overhauled, or pimped... but Overhauled is so much better with foose. No crazy crap like fish tanks, and your own ktichen built into your ride... like being pimped. Just more electrical headaches available.

I have no intensions of testing my wallet over my bumper. :shakehead

I took a pic of my Grand Am Intaglio print. Don't mind the blurry and distorted look, I didn't feel like taking the pic out of the frame. http://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s265/grfnkl/IM000813.jpg

dunno, AF was so busy I couldnt even visit the site earlier

thx xi for that image earlier :D

I went outside and took one look at the location... NOPE! Another day lol... Went back inside and grabbed some beer boiled hotdogs and had me a drunken feast :grinno: sooo delicious

Found out the new power steering pump placed onto my car is ment for a 3.1L ... :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :disappoin

Kwik Kar has failed me, ignorant buttholes

Im getting a new pump, new VAS, and new tank possibly and pulley tomorrow from the dealership :disappoin

Going to just do it myself,

After this friday's payday Im buying my aeroforce gauge finally, and maybe 62mm TB but we'll see

I got in contact with SSHeaders, they're still alive... just never pick up their phones :p

Thats probly you first mistake.
Relying on those guys at the kwiki place to do anything other then changing fluids is never a good idea.

Most of the time they are nobs and dont know much about car maintenance.

I have been looking at some hood modifications.
I saw this one on a rival GA site. :sly:
http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c242/xeroinfinity/auto%20odds-ends/dscn1833.jpg

http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c242/xeroinfinity/auto%20odds-ends/dscn1901.jpg

Only cost $100 for the ram air hood piece.
then paint & labor, free for me :D

I wouldnt want mine to look exactly like someone elses though. :grinno:

grfnkl
03-06-2007, 08:58 AM
Xi: believe it or not that pic is rather small, it's only about a 4x6. It's hard though to get a good pic, without scanning it though since the paper is bubbled and warped due to the type of printing.

the hood lookes good, but i understand on wanting to be unique. Unless you go all out custom and bevel edges, and make a deeper scoop look inside the ram air opening, that could be an option or you can just fabricate your own hood all together! :grinyes:

Hey gir that sucks, they gave you the wrong part. you can never trust mechanics sometimes... Do the parts look remotely the same? even a size difference normally would tip someone off... i guess not in this case.

Gir-_-
03-06-2007, 10:29 AM
yea man, the pump fitted up exactly like the 3.4L, the tank looks a little smaller and the pulley is different but its basically the same, cept in my case its spewin fluid on that VAS below the two lines...

taking it right up to the dealer for an auto tech to check it out, going to see if I can reuse anything I already have, the pulley is different from the original but if I have to bite the bullet ill go ahead and get a whole new assembly... just want it to WORK free of problems so I can be back on track with TB and headers... the HC bypass job they did kinda pissed me off, didnt even use the 90 degree couplings I bought

Its keeping temp now tho right at 200F

Im just worried that its kinked cause they did it right on those 2 lines that go before and after the heatercore... just some hose wrapped around

I miss the heater already brrrr!!!! this morning sucked .. 34F and no heat.. grabbed my hoodie in the backseat and tried to warm up

I might invest in a selection of tools and start doing my own stuff, the TB im sure I could do... doesnt look to difficult

Gir-_-
03-06-2007, 02:22 PM
ah... :uhoh: :dunno: what gives???

PFYC.com doesnt carry the 3.4L 62mm TB anymore????

grfnkl
03-06-2007, 04:09 PM
34F that had to suck with no heat! Brrrr! It was 14 this morning when i left for work( 8am), and that didn't even include the windchill... It's not fun to drive with no heat... it's torture to sit there and touch anything in the car. soon enough you can get everything all fixed. DIY stuff though can be frustrating though even with all the tools, cuz you'll find one screw or bolt that you just don't seem to have the right tool.

PFYC must have either dropped the throttle body or the link must be down. They did that with the Sc/t Body kit as well. I had the saved link which i could get to it from, but from the main site it was no where to be found.... then it suddenly reappeared! Contact them and ask them what's the deal.

Gir-_-
03-06-2007, 11:54 PM
I went ahead and found myself a ebay seller with the throttle body... I put $200 down on the bid and he'd only put $100 up for it... I really want that thing lol for that low of a price?? I dont mind it being used lol as long as its not cracked or broken on the plate

xeroinfinity
03-07-2007, 12:23 AM
Gir those pumps are diferent smaller resivoir and smaller pulley.

:uhoh: No heat would suck!
I jsut saw 62mm TB at PFYC earlier today

I didnt see any 62mm TBs on ebay, just a stock TB for $50.
I have been shoping on ebay for the past 2 days.

Looked for a TB and anything else .
I actually went through all 1286 grand am parts yesterday :bloated:
Most were those mirrors and regulators :shakehead

It doesnt take much to make the 62mm TB just bore it our,
replace the butterfly woth a larger diameter one .

I need to make my own :grinyes:
I did find a few spoilers I like but I need other mods first.
Probly going to hack the exhaust up on the GT this weekend,
I picked up another ol trusty today, #42583 :D

So speaker upgrades will be needed soon also :ylsuper:
That will make a couple more R&R's for our subforum.

:dunno: I might of gotten lucky, I dont even know wtf pump it is to tell you the truth

looks basically the same, but I dont have my old one to size it up with

either way, it works :dunno: .... I bought a seal kit from the dealer rather than a whole new pump... its an actuator or something that sits in there.. and it has like 3 o-rings... my guy was telling me he re-used the old one because it couldnt be found anywhere but the dealer... so we're going to replace all the seals and o-rings and put it back together

tomorrow im going back up to the dealership to see if I can get that bolt so the pulley can be pressed on a little bit more

xeroinfinity
03-07-2007, 07:35 PM
YA Gir those O rings on that VAS unit will get damaged sometimes when you remove/install it.

I usually just replace the whole thing rather then mess with exchanging parts.

Well I had a snag today with the GT exhaust.
I didnt have enough pipe to do the whole thing so I just hacked the resonator off, and replaced the muffler with a Flo-master.
I didnt even have any good splits dual tips, just single tips for now. :(
I found some I liked though, they are $80 each :banghead:
The pipe and muffler didnt cost anywhere near that much :disappoin

Heres a pic of it & my shity old Lift....

Well drove the GT around tonight and broke in the
new pipes.
Though its not that loud it seemed to raise up all sorts of furry critters. http://www.clicksmilies.com/s1106/tiere/animal-smiley-034.gif http://www.clicksmilies.com/s1106/tiere/animal-smiley-040.gif

Well On my venture I roused a very large http://www.clicksmilies.com/s1106/tiere/animal-smiley-030.gif raccoon,
(they seem to like the GT) and he took out the front bumper,
again #3 :banghead:

Then dragging the front scraping home,
I scarred up a herd of deer!http://www.clicksmilies.com/s1106/tiere/animal-smiley-082.gif

These stupid animals ran in every direction.
Luckily they didnt run into me sitting in the middle of the road.
Well they all cleared but this one small doe,
she just kept running down the middle of the road for about 1/2 mile.
Finally she ran into the woods,
and I made it safely home.http://www.clicksmilies.com/s1106/tiere/animal-smiley-039.gif

So I guess now I need to find a new front end,
and some new driving lights.....
.....they seem to be out as well http://www.clicksmilies.com/s1106/traurig/sad-smiley-044.gif

I feel your pain XI.:disappoin damn animals they should know when you are coming and realize to go the opposite direction you are coming in. The most i ever ran over was a rabbit, in the G/a gt going about 55-60 mph, it looked like an explosion of white fur everywhere and i had a squirrel commit suicide on me... hahaha the damn thing ran into my tire this happend on the 88 g/a. I didn't run him over, he ran into my tire and died. :screwy:

If this makes you feel any better the 6's front bumper is all sorts of messed up within the last few days. First i get the car washed, pull out onto the road, go about 100 feet down the road a large cardboard box flys across the road into the front driver corner, paint scratched and chunk of paint missing. The next day.. still windy outisde, driving home from my girls house, a garbage can going probably about 30 mph across the road into the front passenger side, leaving a huge mark and scratches across the entire side of the bumper. Then it snowed, so now it's all dirty again. :banghead:

Gir-_-
03-09-2007, 09:27 AM
so many animals lol gah

we just have suicidal squirrles and rabbits...

rabbits are only at night tho, they WANT to get hit but you have to dodge em left and right.. they go in pairs or 3s

Thats for the support guys.

This was already broke when I bought it, but I have fixed it 2-3 times and this time its beyond repairs.

So my trouble now if what front to get.
DO I get stock, or AAS, RK Sport, SOMO, Combat, Vader :banghead:
And while I'm at it I'll probly get those headlights replaced.

Was looking at tail lights too since these have shorted in the past like most GAs do :disappoin

SHIT this stuff's not cheap!!!

I decided to get those Hedmen Tips from PFYC (http://www.pfyc.com/store/merchant.mv?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=PFYC&Category_Code=GA)for the GT.
Then I remembered the the SE has some crapy chrome tips. Doesnt take long for them to start rusting and I hate rust.
Still looking on those, though I like these that I saw on summit web site. I liked th ePace Setter ones but they are not stainless.

Thier goes my tax return

Have a great weekend everyone !

I just grabbed my aeroforce tech gauge... and Im feelin the empty wallet even tho I just got paid... sucks paying so much for a gauge...

I decided Im going to make it 'Clean' at least if im spending this much... I went ahead and did custom...

AeroForce Tech Interceptor Scan Gauges - Special Order

The only reason I havent bought one is I have to many scann tools as it is :bloated:

So how did the Ebay bid go on the TB?

I found some realy nice tips on their that are sweet and $99 for a pair Duals (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2-STAINLESS-STEEL-DUAL-OUTLET-Exhaust-Tip-Tips-2-25ID_W0QQitemZ280089218759QQcategoryZ33633QQrdZ1QQ cmdZViewItem#ebayphotohosting).

I'll at least get one pair to see how they look,
they dont show the ends/opening of the two "OO" :dunno:

Not gonna get scamed :grinno:

as for the gauge, its not even goin to ship untill 5-7 days.. then I gotta wait even more for it to ship lol.. sucks but oh well.. worth the wait =)

PFYC.com shipping, is somewhat accurate.. I get stuff in 2-3 days from the yellow area :iceslolan

and the parts thing, Ive found that alot of the stuff on there is from other companys... remember back when they had the doctor speed intakes for a short while?

lol bid just $102? ... man I REALLY wanted that TB lol. I put $200 down :naughty:

grfnkl
03-12-2007, 09:03 AM
well i hit a new top speed for me in the 6 this morning. I was keeping up with an infinity g35 doing 105mph + , while i stayed right on his back bumper! :naughty: Man do i love this car. I would have continued after him but my exit was right there for work... so i had to get off and slow down.

Gir: let me know how that gauge works out... since i really wanted it as well when i had the g/a. Maybe they'll update it and make one for the g6...

XI: I never had any DTC's on my g/a either. Things just broke, just like gir.... hell i had the dealer say to me how the hell am i driving the car this way and why am I not getting check lights or codes. LOL, I basically did one of these..... :dunno:

Back to sleep....I mean work...

xeroinfinity
03-12-2007, 08:39 PM
Damn took 25-30 minutes to load this page :banghead:

Hey Gir, I would have bid at least 200$ I was just refering to the low price of 100$.
I like this graphics with the map and all, havnt seen that one.

I used to get alot of Misfires and the Occasional ABS DTC's on the SE, but after fixing things myself and not the warrnty work its all held up pretty well considering how hard I run it.

grfnkl, You mean you havent maxed it yet
I figured you would have on the highway, just watch out for the policia , that would suck getting a ticket for over 100mph.

I thought that gauge would also be nice because of its 0-60 times and 1/4 read outs. That would be nice to have instead of my laptop sliding around in the seat.

The other night I did some 0-60 and 0-90 times and just that exhaust work on the GT lowered my 0-60 by 1.5-2 seconds and 3-4 secs of the 0-90mph.
The main reason I amped it up was the GT was getting so I could tell if it was running, then do stuff like , hit the key. :shakehead:
That embarrassing ....

Enjoy the week everyone , its been great weather here!

Gir-_-
03-13-2007, 12:50 AM
yea wtf, you tap the key a certain way and the car shuts off :dunno: .. my cousin did that to me by accident and we stopped for a whole min in the wal*mart parking lot lol

yea the TB should be here by thurs or so.. ill take pics if I can and post em

Today I def took off the top can part or w/e upper piece of a upper intake on a 98 cobra... big dirty dome cover... we sprayed TB cleaner all over that thing and wiped it down as good as we could possibly do... it was pretty gross in there.. TB clean helped ALOT

Hey Gir that key thing doesnt sound good.

Might be your ignition switch :dunno:

Well I talked to my insurance agent today, and since it was an animal that did the damage, I dont have to pay anything. Not even my deductable ! Thats kick ash!
Probly get a check tomarrow and start on it asap.

The SE is ready for spring, which it has been realy warm here. Friday, its supposed to snow and be in the 30's :shakehead:

Had the SE out last night, cruised a good 100 miles just screwing around in town, a small town at that.
And GAS, that stuff is up to $2.55 for reg, I'm using the premium right now, $2.75 :disappoin

Seems the forum is working better today, thats another plus

grfnkl
03-13-2007, 02:17 PM
The forums are running better today, much quicker on the load up!

well I haven't opened up the 6 yet, that was the best i've done so far. Unfortunetly, Northern NJ is very congested to much traffic and ALOT of "policia" Marked and unmarked. The place i did my little sprint in the 6, is known to be very congested, I just caught a break between congestions. So i was very lucky. Not many cops though, plus they JUST put guard rails down the center of the higway ( great idea for a 3 lane highway on both sides with a speed limit of 65mph) it amazes me that thye didn't think of this sooner. so now the cops can't cross the center grassy median! hahaha!

what's up with this gas price increase... I'm feeling it in my wallet recently! :shakehead It's around 2.50 around here for regular!

becareful with that key thing Gir, all you need is to hit a bump on the highway and hve the car shut off.... that would suck!

xeroinfinity
03-13-2007, 03:30 PM
Well things have picked up speed!

Ya conjested highways are no place to open it up.
Maybe at 2-3am ;)

Well got all the BS done for the GT today, it was so nice I had to cruise. But I have to wait a week for the check and the parts place I'm using isnt going to have any to ship until the 21st :disappoin

No big deal, I still will come out ahead a little, and I'm just going with stock facia. If I replaced the front with an aftermarket I'd realy want to change the side panels and proble the rear and that more then I want to spend on body work :gay:

Well I'm off to briter skys.

hmm, the key thing isnt my biggest concern at the moment...

one small step at a time at the moment lol...

today while driving to work my check engine light came on.. and it was a p0440 .. something emissions, so I checked the cap, fine.. checked inside the engine and the end piece to the PCV valve in the back of the engine had popped off... soo I reconnected that.. now my car is running funky, hard to start and such lol.. doesnt want to keep idle... once going tho it feels peppy :D so thats a plus... but after I cleared the code the light came back on.. I havent checked under the hood again to see if it had popped off again but ehh.. Any other ideas?

since the HC bypass, engine temp stays in the 200-210F range which is :dunno: alright I guess... makes me want to put that stat in right about now before it gets to hot for summer =p ... when I do the TB, I think im going to try and re-do the hose that the kwik kar dudes did... it has a slight kink in it and it just bugs me to see it there...

What would be the best way to drain coolant? going to do the TB and 180stat myself, and coolant and the spring on the side is the only thing im concerned about.. is there like a bolt holding the spring assembly on? No I havent looked

btw, XI... would you happen to know of any amazing photography that shows the exact bolt with some colorful arrows where I have to take off for the trans temp?... even with that trans diagram that shows im still unsure... I just want to double/triple/quad check before I unbolt something wrong ya know? :D .. I almost snapped off a tensioner pully by taking off the wrong bolt while doing a 3.1L belt haha

p0440

You could have just over filled. This can be an elusive sucker to find at times. I'd start with the lines under the rear. Thiers are several hose clamps that can loosen, the fill neck hose, and about 10 other things. :shakehead

Check this post out by GM Merlin, it explains it in more detail. The GAS CAP code!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=622473)

210 is to hot for this time of year...
you wont get alot of coolant out when you remove those two hoses, you can loosen them from the black recirculator pipe, probley has those rediculas tension clamps  Pliers works well on those.

As far as the throtle and cruise cables just lake sure you get them in the right spot on the new TB. You just turn the throtle WO and push/pull the end of the cable out. Kinda like a bicycle brake cable or motor cycle.

on the trans temp thing thiers just a plug in the trans and it is the Only thing in that area. Should be black.
I dont have any pics because I havent tried squeazing my camera or phone up in thier to get all dirty. You probly will have to remove the top radiator hose to acess that plug.

I have only seen them when the trans is out, or the front radiator and such is off :(
I'll look and see what I can find tomarrow.

Ok here is a pic with arrows and the like Lol
http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c242/xeroinfinity/Models/transtemp-lrg.jpg
Should be straight down from the Trans plug-in, right below the 2nd bolt that connects the trans(drive train) and the trans side cover plate. It is on the right half.

transwhplug (http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c242/xeroinfinity/Models/transwhplug.jpg)
1-top rad hose on the driver side.
2 its not there.
3- heat shield
4 recirculator tube
The red circle is the trans plug-in thats not it :grinno:
Right below that.

This is why I havent installed one yet :D

eh :dunno: ill have to crawl under there when it stops raining and see from the bottom if I can...

as for the coolant there.. can I just uncap the tank and have pressure relieved that way? then disconnect the hoses.... I went ahead and grabbed a new TB gasket, figured it wont hurt anything...

210F is only the max ive seen it go.. and thats after hard driving I think, dunno.. hasnt been fixed long lol

my code came back after I cleared it, and it went away later as the day went on :dunno: eh.. guess if it comes back its important

hmm.. finally I found a O2 sensor sim for the cat... off-road in a grand am anyone? :D

https://www.zzperformance.com/grand_prix/products1.php?id=179

Might buy this, and have a cat less GA... just grab this and their 2.5" zzp downpipe they offer :naughty:

and this makes sense...
Daylight Running Light Switch (http://www.zzperformance.com/grand_am/products1.php?id=458&catid=145) :dunno: Im sure it goes straight into the PCM/BCM or something...

It was absolutely beautiful outside today! 80 degrees! :jump3: you can't beat that... except the fact it's only march 14th... a little warm outside for march,..... BUT i guess the down side is the snow storm we are getting just in time for the weekend. And to think I took off friday from work, and it will be snowing..... that absolutely sucks!!!:banghead:

200-210 doesn't sound that bad for temps for the g/a mine always ran about 200-215/220. the only time it was lower was when the thermostat was bad and when i replaced my cat conv. I know the temps are supposed to be only around 190...

Well I;m off to enjoy my evening... :naughty:

Gir that DRL switch does about the same thing I did except mine are off! :D
Thier used to be another unit for the 99-03 but they didnt sell them long, it was plug & play not cutting.

Yes the weather here was great the last two days, around 80.
Right now.... its 36 and a 20-30mph wind from the north :angryfire

BTW Gir thankx for that zz performance site, I forgot it was out thier. Seems they have some cool stuff.
I like that Alternator Voltage Booster, & the B&M transmission cooler .

My GT is getting one of those B&M transmission coolers realy soon. The trans was running at 228-230 deg yeserday in the heat, that'll fry it quick trying to hotrod it :grinyes:

Well off to play outside in the mud :)

03-15-2007, 08:58 AM
yea i've always known about it just didnt seem to legit :dunno: lol

think a cat less free flowing exhaust would be good performance wise? not worried about noise :grinno:

rather than get the downpipe that comes with it, I was going to try the zzp site and get that o2sim and have the 2.5" matched to my original cat-back

xeroinfinity
03-15-2007, 05:10 PM
That pipe would work , it removes the cat .
So if you get stopped by the policia,
and they notice you dont have a cat you can get fined in most states.
And IMO it wont give you any much if any HP gains.

If you get those headers , just get the high flo cat with them.

My high flo on the SE had holes through it bigger then a #2 pencil. SO it doesnt restrick much.
Also if you take away all you engine back pressure its not really good for teh engine. Can cause damage :grinyes:

So Gir, is it pretty flooded down your way?
I saw the news today and they showed flooded areas in Texas. With cars stuck in washed out roads .
Thats always fun in the dark

Gir-_-
03-15-2007, 05:59 PM
yea rain sucks man lol... no flooding here tho

Yea, the cat-less idea is just in the air

I was thinkin about the engine and such, how it'd affect it... dont wanna do any damage... trying to make this engine last... its been thru so many miles already haha

but I also want it looudd  hopefully the headers will accomplish that... as well my new throttle body ill be putting on maybe this coming monday :naughty: ill also be doing the 180stat while im there.. WOo!

Well i just came in from shoveling 8inches of that white crap! :shakehead from 80 degrees on wednesday to 8 inches of snow I'm sorry let me correct myself not snow, no 8inches of sleet, freezing rain and ice. OH yeah, I think i broke my back shoveling this crap!

Has either one of you seen the show Bullrun on Spike TV? I've only seen bits and pieces of it. It's kind of cool from what i've caught but the web page for that channel sucks, cuz it never loads for me. Oh well, I'll catch it again soon!

I'm off to relax before shovelin some more!:banghead:

grfnkl, sorry to hear about the sneat !

We got lucky and just had a few flurries when the front moved in. We had more high wind then anything.

And yes going from 80 during the day, then down to 40 in the same night suckedd !!!! :disappoin

Better take care of that back, mine is still a little painfull.
But I still try to pick things up that weigh more then myself

my new aeroforce tech gauge is so neato =) i did a bs 1/4 mile run onto the highway and it came up like 15.4... it was not a great run tho lol... I still have to put on my throttle body =)

I had a code in there when I scanned it w/ the gauge...

P0172........ System Adaptive fuel too rich
P0172 - Fuel Trim System Rich Bank 1

:dunno: dont know... lol care to explain? All I know, something is rich in fuel :grinno:

and I never knew how much heat is given off on the headers under the IAT... when I drive its about 70Fish or little more... if I turn off the car and come back its up to 100F+ lol... maybe this heat shield thing it came with might help...

its the same one that was on pfyc.com.... its tiny!

The snow/Sleet sucked ass this weekend. It was heavy as hell to shovel. After my post the other day, I shoveled most of my house. Leaving my brothers car, and both of my parents cars burried. I soon thereafter went to my girls house since she wasn't feeling well :bloated: to help her shovel her house out. By saturday night, i was having severe back spasms, my knees were soo sore... my girl kept lauging at me calling me an old man! then on sunday I had to dig out my mom's truck just so my nasty neighbors don't call the policia for not moving the car. thank god for AWD, just drove right over it and back!!!:grinyes: I think I'm gonna go get myself one of those back brace things to help lift heavy items so i don't kill my back anymore. I soo wish i stole... I mean took mine from one of my past jobs... :naughty:

Hey Gir, how's that gauge working out for ya? I so wish i bought mine when i had the chance. It probably would have explained some of the issues I was having with my G/A. When you get a chance post some pics with it all hooked up in the car I would like to see it. I don't know about that code it's pulling, I would either say MAF sensor or maybe an o2 sensor...?:dunno: your guess is good as mine.

its pretty sweet actually, ive already pulled over for it too

I was out a a local baseball parking lot.. its huge, and I was adjusting some settings and such... I did 1 quick little run and I came back and there is a cop just creepin up on me... so I stopped and didnt even bother, just waited for em to come closer, and sure enough he put on the lights and the whole show while I was adjusting more settings lol

gave em info and w/e, told em I just got the gauge, lol was adjusting some cool stuff... he said my gauge was badass :naughty: .. did a warrant check and all that lol.. he came back and was like, soo what all have you done to ur car? and talked w/ me for about 5mins about cars LOL  (his lights are still going) after that he just asked me to leave the parking lot

installing the gauge took less than 15mins, and it fits nice and clean in the dash... after I cleared that code I was talkin about it hasnt came back yet :dunno: so not sure

Sounds like an O2 sensor is bad or going bad.
Or your PCM is not tuned correctly :dunno:

So how did you hook up your gauge,
in the Vent , or did you get the gauge pod for the pillar?

If you put it in the vent make sure you block that vent off or remove the tube to that vent as heat will cook that gauge and it wouldnt be covered under warrnty.
They do warn about this on the PFYC site or the Aeroforce site , one of the two.

I hate chatting with cops :grinyes:
So does the gauge let you set any of the engine perameters like A/F ratio or injector pulse cycles ?

.... back to work I must go .

well I had a 3-pod pillar, and ive been saving the last pod for last for just that gauge...

its simply a PCM scanner, that displays a lot of info like a GMTechII would, with extra features like 1/4 times .. 0-60 ... est HP and MPG... all really runs off of the MAF for those calculations... its still nice to have, gives alot of sensor temps as well, and O2 volts .. manifold psi... and lots more

I think in the future if I were to ever ditch my trans temp.. id replace it with a NOS Psi gauge :iceslolan ... if I decide to do such thing... prob not untill next year

if that code comes back up then ill be concerned.. it could of been just dormant forever and never picked up, like a saved engine code or something... my check engine light is still off from re-connecting that vaccume hose on the back

That gauge sounds so sweet you are making me jealous that i didn't get it sooner. However Now that i want one, I found something that will fit the G6!!! (http://www.pfyc.com/pc/GN7023/G6INT/MSD+DashHawk+Vehicle+Information+Display.html) So now I have something to look forward too! :iceslolan

I just noticed that they changed the smiley's around again! I would really like it if each person could customize their own top smiley group. For instance, I have no use for this one ---> :smooch: who uses this one?

Ya Gir I knew it read all those perameters I was just uncertain if it could change perameters like a real Tech II scanner.
The real test is whether it reads ABS codes or not.

So you have your trans temp installed now?
OK, whats your HP reading and your top 1/4 miles times?

Hey grfnkl, that gauge does look sweat!
Kinda like the aeroforce gauges, though your car is the new CAN ODB system.
Even has a USB to download your info.

I was trying to memorize all those smileys but thiers to many.
Ya know I have used that smooch before,
like when you tell someone off real nasty like,
then you throw in that and it makes it all OK :lol2:

the HP reading is like a 'instant' calc... it determins all of the settings to calculate it and puts it in real time, its a real time dyno w/ no chart lol.... I still have to figure out how to get that tuned so its close.. I was messing w/ it and I put out over 300HP .. was like no no no... I only wish hahaha

the only 1/4 time I did was sorta a bs run but not my best... It went like 15.4 in 1/4 at 88mph or something like that...

after I install the TB ill do more 1/4 times and see what my lowest time is, =)

anyone know what stock 1/4 time is? I just wanna see how much my GA has improved thru the Mods I've done so far :smooch:

no trans temp as of yet, but soon... when we stop bein lazy and decide to do it lol .. I have a better understanding of where it might be at.. I have looked from under the car to see :naughty: .. im sure that'll help

And I would say 300 is probly wrong! :D
Stock time is slow, around 16-17 sec :dunno:

Everytime I take off I do a 1/4 mile run :grinyes:

My GT is around 15.4-15.7 @ 96-98mph thats pretty mucha stock. Just the CAI & exhaust :naughty:

I totally understand that, I downloaded the manual when i thought about getting it and I seriously felt like this----> :banghead: Anyways whats the fun in read the directions when you can just wing it! It's like a new tech toy, cell phone whatev doesn't matter just play with it until you figure it out! :grinyes: Then when you read the manual you find thing you didn't know you had! just saw the TB coolant byspass thread... might just do that.. it gets hot hurrr in TX :grinno: no need to pass mor heat thru...

What sort of caps could I put on there? hopefully something that can be clamped down

I was riding the GA pretty hard today and my security light came on... like p1621 or something like that was on the tech gauge :dunno:

edit:
P1621 - Control Module Long Term Memory Performance

:dunno: got me, pcm related? hopefully nothing messed up, after car was shutoff, the code was cleared with no problem, hasnt came back

there were 2 codes, but I think this was one... and I forget the other but it was also p16blabla

Hey Gir,
any type of smaller rubber caps would work.
I would have used something like that but I didnt have anything on hand.
Most part stores carry stuff like this,
I'll see if I can find a link for some of these.

p1621 is pcm memory performance :screwy:
:uhoh: I wouldnt worry about it unless the car wont start.

Well the deed is done,

In a afternoon me and my friend did the 180stat w/ new ACDelco o-ring, did the throttle body coolant bypass with some plugs found locally, and just clamped em down on the line, they should be fine, not running high amounts of pressure since its just going to be flowing more.... and as well installed my new rsm 62mm throttle body w/ new gasket and $40 heatshield thingy found on pfyc.com...

Overall, Yes!!!!

Engine temp normal is 185F which is nice, the IAT stays somewhat cooler thanks to that heatshield under the TB... and the TB, you can def tell it is bigger than stock, we used a stock sized gasket tho... we thought about filing it to fit the TB but found out that it matched the upper intake so it didnt matter and we let it be... but I def feel a difference :grinno: I wouldnt say 10HP+ but a good 5-10HP difference.

It sure does pick up a lot quicker than it did :naughty:, and im happy over all with the install, cause we did everything ourselves, and had coolant everywhere, fun 3-multi-task project tho, still iffy about coolant leaks but I havent found 1 just yet so thats good.

---
other than that, the apartment complex we were moving into "today" turned us down because we make $1000 more than we should, 'budget complex' so we have to find another place....

which means, I might just say screw it.. I have plenty of money saved up for some headers :naughty:
