its been chilly lately... 45F outside :uhoh: where'd the sun go???

Ive lost enough coolant that my light is coming on/off lol, I guess im good untill im completely out and driving in cold cold weather :dunno:

Thing is, I dont know where it all has drained too :dunno: floor is clean inside, I dont see any drips outside.... and there is def a hole, it makes that resurging bubbly noise of the pressure being released and air movin around (louder than normal) sooo dunno I think im going to bite the bullet and do it monday morning, it cant take more than a day cause I have work so tomorrow or today ima call the dealership and see if I can setup an appointment or something... I just hope that everything is placed back into place AS IS when I drive it up there... very picky about that

yea I noticed the heatercore post lol nice, I saw somewhere a heatercore online for like $80 but it was an 'aftermarket' heatercore :dunno: ... what?

If your light is coming on then that about 1/2 gal lost, thats alot!

HAve you checked your oil recently?

no not yet, didnt think that'd be the case cause Its so strong inside the cabin :dunno:

my engine idles are rough, ugh... I guess ill go check now :shakehead

if its not draining anywhere then it might still be inside :disappoin

Its been 'broken' for about a week .. er 6days total from last sunday when I first had the strong smell... .. A/C on/off

my engine idles rough only while at a stand still... when I go, it doesnt hesitate and runs smooth... but eh ill go check

if they're replacing the LIM then ill go ahead and do a motor mount, and possible trans mount... I really think that might be the source of the rough idling.. if not then my tensioner is loose :dunno:

02-10-2007, 09:48 PM
Could also be those line under the TB leaking.
The SE had some coolant on the block and I about fliped,
(thinking it was the LIM again:rolleyes:)
But one of the hoses had a crack in it and was leaking good.

When they do a LIM its also a good time to replace the head gaskets. Oil pan usually leaks too after 100K miles, so that would be something else to worry about
:sorry:

I guess some of that tax money is going towards a new heater core. Good Luck with that! Luckly you have the warmer weather on your side to work with. we are getting some snow/ rain ice mix within the next few days... so this shall be interesting!

well back to looking like I'm working... :naughty:

Yes grfnkl we too are supposed to get some snow/ice this evening, then I'll send it your way :D

I heard we are supposed to get around 8-12" :yikes:

I have been busting ass all day getting things ready "just in case".
My snow blade has had a crack in it for a couple years now,
figured I'd better fix that mess and grease everything up and make sure its was all working properly.
What a Day !:bloated:

 shit , its only monday :shakehead

:iagree: , I can only image what the rest of the week is going to be like, except for the snow and ice. We were supposed to get the 12-20 inches, but it shifted now it's about 4 inches with ice and rain... :shakehead I was trying to get my girls snowblower started last night for over an hour... and NADA! Wouldn't even attempt to start... then it started leaking gas all over the place.. SO, right now It's sitting in her garage until tonights attempt!!! After i install mini-blinds, and do various things around her house... :uhoh: :naughty: Then on thursday we have the fun of our parents meeting for the 3rd time! the nightmare begins.... AHHHHHH!!!

Well it was supposed to hit here around 7pm now they say midnight :shakehead

On the snow blower, check that its getting good blu spark.
If its set with fuel in it for more then 1-2 months,
then the gas is probly stale, yes gas goes bad :grinyes:

I keep fuel stablizer in all my small engines.
Seems to make spring start-ups easier too.

Haha, good luck with the mindy blinds

oil 'looks' fine.. I only checked the level, seems a little full but... nothing chocolately like :dunno:

theres one weird leak outside but I think its just water...
Pretty sure its the HC somehow, cause man... it was so strong when it first started... now its just eh cause there isnt anything flowing lol... I figure eh.. why put more fluid if its just gonna leak out somewhere I dont know where its going to.....

The temp fluxes lol like 190 to 210 hittin those air pockets =)... Im driving worse than a grandma to keep the rpms down as well temp...

This coming weeked Ill have it done and the GA will be back to life lol

Would my A/C help cooling down the engine at all?
Just curious...

and... summer's mini project is going to replace all the window motors,.. or just the front 2 at least, and the passenger switch cause its gone out... guess ill do the driver side switch too, and get the motor assemblys from ebay for cheap... its just prob a 4hr job at most... Ive gotten pretty handy taking the whole door apart... while im on the subject, I lost all 3-4 bolts that uh goto my back passenger side door so its just being held in by clips :grinno:

We got the Snowblower started last night. We were just having a bad day prior to last night, since we couldn't get the lights to work in the garage, so we couldn't see that the snowblower had very little oil. So last night we did an oil change, and it started right up afterwards. The leaking gas was from me over priming the engine. Our snow is supposed to start around 5pm tonight, just in time for rush hour commute... nothing like my 40 min drive turning into an hour and 40 mins. Plus it's going to be a mix of snow and ice! oh JOY!

Gir: the a/c does not help cool down the engine since the engine has to run harder with the a/c on but it will run your fan's. you are better off running your heat at full blast, it pulls the heat off the engine better.

well enjoy the day.... later

xeroinfinity

Hey Gir, when you turn on the AC it should kick on the cooling fans.
Fan #1 comes on at 220 or so, and both at 230-240.

Well all hell has been breaking loose here since about 11:30pm last night.
Thiers about a 40mph wind and its still snowing pretty good.
Suposed to keep snowing till tomarrow.
Probly 7-8" of snow so far, but I've plowed some 5-6 ft drifts :eek7:

I've been out since 5am this morning plowing snow.......
I'm ready for Lunch ! :grinyes:

Then back to work :D

Gir-_-
02-13-2007, 11:04 PM
hmm, Im glad I have that PCM then thats staying on after the engine is shut off, just keepin that puppy cooled off lol

I went to the dealer today, and its going to cost my arm, leg and I think my soul to get it done lol

not really sure actually, Im having them do their inspection bit this coming saturday to see what the problem might be, LIM or heatercore,... pretty sure it'll be the heater core because of such the strong smell... it was almost instant... I told the guy if its a LIM and its going to cost less than the HeaterCore job, I told em I might have them look on why my engine shakes roughly at stopped idle, my 2 guess are the mount or idler pully/tensioner ... it HAS to be one of those because it drives smooth like no other lol

the other day I took off all my tires and put them back on, just to make sure that it'll stop... I havent gone 80mph yet due to the coolant but I think I fixed the intermittent tire wobble problem...

while I was at the dealer I was looking around at G6GTP, GPGXP, and GTO =) hrmmm.... GXP would be ideal if brand new, as well the G6GTP ..... if I were to get a GTO Id go for prob a used 04 ls1, even tho I want the 6L lol....

Grand Prix would be fun tho, daily family driver/fun =) plus I know parts already ha

basically im either sticking with the grand am for the rest of this year and not doing the milzy build :dunno: or getting a new car... we'll have to see

Im also looking around for a local that has a newer year WS6 on hand wanting to sell for 15,000 or less =)

hey xero... you snowed in like I am? I backed up about 10 feet and got stuck... 3 people had to push me back into my "driveway." I'm still stuck today, 2nd day in a row i havent been able to leave my house... tripletreads are serving me well when they can, at least!

Well I had a nice relaxing day today.... I took a SNOW DAY from work today :grinyes: . We got about 3 inches of snow/ sleet and Ice. Since my commute is bad enough, i really did not want to make it worse and drive in that crap. On the plus side though I got a lot accomplished that i have been meaning to get to for the past week or so. Amazing what 1 snowy day can allow you to get done. :iceslolan My only downfall to all of this is I wasn't able to go out and get something for my girl for V-day...... :uhoh:

Have a good one, or what's left of it!

Funny you should mention global warming , did you see my thread on that $25 million dollar prize ?

Here is the link to that (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=4620542#post4620542). :)

I personaly contribute very little in green house gases.
Most would come from my autos and the propane I use for heating.
Which I'm planing on changing when I get $3-4K for a geothermal hvac(heat pump).
Big cost up front but saves in the long run.

Yep You will break somehthing :grinyes: on the g/a. Probably the front bumper or that lower air dam thing. I ripped off my air dam off the 6 the other day on some snow/ice mounds when i was trying to park my car on the street in front of my girls house.. thankfully it didnt break it just popped off with the plastic screw clips. Popped it back on and GOOD as new! :naughty:

a punch to the ear.. that had to hurt like a bitch. DAMN! Last time i got hit... the pain was unbearable for days! but i guess a baseball bat will do that to ya....

on a different subject... last night me and my girl were coming back from an appointment form a DJ. so guys pulls up next to us signaling to roll down the window.. the guy made some real retard comment that made no sense ( high school kids) Anyways, the next light since she was pissed she took off.. in her little RSX, by the time she hit 3rd his little VW jetta couldn't keep up, so she backed off, I waved BYE BYE pointed and laughed, since he lost... LOL the guy spun out trying to make a hard right going about 50... Oh well. I'm a little annoyed though cuz i couldn't get to play! Then to top it off another 500 yards up the street there was a cop radaring! It would have been so worth it for him to get caught...

back to work i go.

yea I found out that the coolant is leaking outside 'mostly' of the GA which is a good sign I guess... Curious bout my oil level cause its pretty high.. way past the 'full' mark thats set on the dip stick... and why do I still have the smell on the inside :dunno:

Its leaking umm, on the passenger side, havent found from where exactly but its near the firewall I want to guess and its dripping onto one of those mounts that I guess hold the front end together lol.. 2 of them and its just dripping pretty bad....

I was playing around in a parking lot today and noticed the dribble where I was going slow.. so I uh did a quick burn out to see where its at aligned w/ my tires lol and sure enough it was coming from the passenger side near the firewall...

not sure whats down there but eh.. need it fixed lol

That would probly be your heater hoses down in that area.
It can leak inside sometimes then you would smell it when the vents are on.

I watched several of those vids.
Thier was one with a GA turbo and he only did 14. ?? in a quarter :screwy: But he won, might have been against the Mustang...

so maybe leaking inside but out? lol

the majority of it is coming outside, I just noticed a orange stain last night after I had found that spot.... kinda thought... well that just figures lol

still concerned about my engine oil level, its either really full or what... shouldnt it go only to about an inch?

I prob shouldnt worry to much, I need to get it changed here soon

besides, I would think the engine would of locked up long ago if there was coolant in there :dunno:

xeroinfinity

Who Knows
If any coolant has leaked into the oil then it will raise the level.

Changing the subject for a minute here.
I never did tell you guys what I ended up doing to the dome light project :shakehead
After great thought, and cutting up 12+ old disc's I deceided to wait and get some plexiglass.
The CDs just kept cracking and I was tired of cuting the damn things :bloated:

But I did put 2 up there, its pretty brite, here is a pic.
http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c242/xeroinfinity/SeCond%20Hand/DomLit.jpg
I just cut a plastic piece long enough to fit in where the bulb goes and drilled the 2 holes for the Leds, which already had resistors soldered to them.

I'm working on soldering a resistor in the other map light(s) for the rear so I can use a couple LEDs.

is this off topic or what

gir: have you checked your oil... is it looking anything like some creamy coffee? It's strange though that it is high... never really hear that happening. Hopefully it's not leaking into the engine... but i would say I doubt it the car would have fried by now.

Actually I saw an Olds Achieva this morning... definet head gasket leak... There was a white cloud coming out from the exhaust plus white smoke coming out from under the hood wheel well area. It's a matter of time before that car is gonna take a dump on the road. :cwm27:

XI: I haven't seen the dome light since you last spoke of is with the CD's. It looks good though! Very Impressed!

Sucks!
Bad storms/big hail forecasted for tonight so I decide to park the Olds in the shop. I charge the battery for a coupla hours while I go out to eat, come back crank it up and its missn real bad. Rev it a few times to clean it out but it still misses. The hood is still up so I have look on the drivers side, dont see anything. Look on the passenger side and its a regular light show. I shut it down and get a flashlight and find 4 and a half plug wires chewed through along with slight damage to other electrical and a vacuume hose. (Hope they had fun with the braided steel lines) Thats just what I can see. Plug wires were ACs and less then 100 miles on them (car is not driven much). Damn field mice!

xeroinfinity
02-23-2007, 11:57 PM
Hey Gir, I wouldnt put off the leak to much. The hotter is gets outside the more pressure will biuld and it'll leak more & more.

Ya Jim mice like the taste of silcone.
Some wires (I've heard) use a Soy based resin in them, they realy love Soy.

Back a few years ago a wire company that makes romex(house wiring) and the casing was a Soy based plastic.
I guess several hunderd homes burnt down because the mice exposed several wires causing a short :yikes:

I bet that was a big lawsuit. :grinyes:

All the snow basically melted but now we are supposed to get this huge snow storm here and they said the snow was supposed to start friday night (tonight, even though its saturday morning) and go all through sunday. We are supposed to get about a foot. Snow has gottin here so I dont know what is gonna happen anymore. Minnesota sucks but there isnt anything like the summers here, to me anyways. Way to nice in the summer.

yea it looks nothing 'creamy' like at all just oil is oil... :dunno: but its pretty high lol

Its startin to get 70-75F ish here .. pretty warm but feels so good at night

I def need to fix my coolant leak tho however, trying to decide if I can stick it out (in the process of getting my own place)... but I def need coolant...

and I figured Im just going to do the headers, TB, and 180stat all at once since its in that general area, right after the coolant leak I have now is fixed :grinno:

I agree with XI, don't take too long to fix this especially since it's getting warmer... this is where ppl, end up overheating there cars. Out of curiosity, how much do apartments go for down there? Just want to see how bad we are getting raped up here. :uhoh:

Grandamdriver: the weather is no better out here on the east cost. We got the 2 nice days of 40 almost 50 degree weather, then it dropped, last night it was 15 degrees... Plus i want to wash the ccar SOOOO bad, and we are supposed to get a wintery mix for sunday into monday ( probably your leftovers) I am looking forward to the summer time! I maybe taking a vacation down to Puerto Rico again! Nothing like sitting on a beach in the caribbean!! :iceslolan

Field mice SUCK! I would go crazy if i found somehting like that on my G/a... let alone a classic!

Ya Gir I wanted to go see that last night but had other things I needed to get done. I want to see Ghost Rider too.

I have the entire collection of comics from the 70's of Ghost Rider :naughty: Wasnt worth much before, but now its going to be worth alot :)

On the weather front, we had 40-50s last week. Still have frozen mountains of icy snow(great ramps though). Its been sleeting here for about 1/2hr now. I'd rather have snow then freezing rain.
Heres my local weather map (http://radar.weather.gov/Conus/centgrtlakes_loop.php).

Its almost here :disappoin

I've read or heard several Book pertaning to the #23.

I also sawJim Cary on Dave Letterman the other night.
They have been playing the commercial on IFC and Sundance alot since the 23rd.

Have you ever seen Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless mind ?
That"s a trippy show !
I had to watch it 7-8x before it all made since,
and still I'm not certain of that :screwy:

Btw you guys like my cheesy drawing of the GT in my Sig ?

I haven't seen either ghost rider or 23 yet... but I was hearing some good things about ghost Rider. 23, I honestly haven't seen any previews or heard anything about it. I saw a preview for Spiderman 3... Now that i can't wait to see. Hopefully the preview, isn't the only good parts of the movie...
Eternal Sunshie of the spotless mind.. Sounds familiar, can't remember if i've seen it or not. the one movie I still don't undestand to this day no matter how much people try to explain or how much I've watched it is the Matrix. I just don't get it. :dunno:

I saw the G/a in the signature, it's a drawing? I thought it was a photoshop pic with different filters added to the picture to be honest. It's looks excellent for a drawing of it! I have a Intaglio print of my old g/a. As you can tell i finally updated mine as well to the various years of the G/a.

SNOW TONIGHT! 3-6 inches! Maybe no work tomorrow cuz i say so!!! WOHOO!!!!! ( advantages for living the furthest for work compared to everyone else!) hahahhahah!

Yipe its been croped and resized to the 400x150 regulation spec

Here is the original pic, you can see my shabby pencil work really good.
GT full scale (http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c242/xeroinfinity/ArtWorK/GTdrawing.jpg)

I used a few drafting templates for the circles and certain curves. I'll clean it up with an eraser shield before I color it with pencils.
I forgot the shadow line on the front fender...
I'll add some colour to it later and it'll look even better.

btw I heard Spiderman 3 was going to be kickass!

I dont even want to talk about weather :banghead:
We had icy rainy snowy Sat., it sucked !

so I think I blew a hose last night on my coolant... was coming home last night at like 2:30am :grinno: fun night till this...

I havent went out to see what but it felt like something close to my foot, at first I thought I ran over like some plastic so I moved lanes and it still kept going then I realized my temp shot up .... so that sucked, I figured I was still good just the sensor was freakin out cause of the release....

I really gotta get this taken care of

Gir: Oooo, that's not good! Better get the coolant problem checked! Sounds like things are getting worse! hopefully it's only a hose that went bad, causing all the problems!!!

XI: For a rough sketch of a G/a it's very good. I've tryed doing the newer g/a's and have a hard time drawing them. I can draw other years better though. I'll have to scan in a pic of my 88 that's i did through Intaglio ( italian print making) thats one of my best ones!

On a more annoying side today, I want to break my computer at work since it seems like NOTHING wants to work :comprage1 :cya:. The only thing I've gotten on with no problems is AF! That's a first as well! So basically I haven't been able to get much work done at all!!!!

YA Gir thats not sounding good at all!
If you over heat your car to much it will ruin your heads as they are aliminum and warpout easy.

Thanks grfnkl, it took me about 8hrs over a couple days.
I am glad to see all the money I spent on art school for 18 months, and a two years of AutoCad from one of those Ivy leage places:rolleyes:
A draw/doodle just about everyday, I just dont apply myself(thats what I've been told).

My PC seems to be running well, still waiting on my laptop to get fixed :angryfire
Hell I've so mych trouble with AF I was about to say F**** IT ! Keep getting 404 page cant be found, heavy usage try later :gay: I dont have any trouble with any other sites.

Shit, my backs been giving me all sorts of trouble this past weekend. I ended up in the hospital yesterday to see if they could figure out what was up.

They said nothing was broke, retards I knew that!
Said it was a muscle strain(they have no clue in other words) Doped my up with something that about knocked my ass out but didnt even help touch the pain.
The Vicodines Help though  :grinyes:

I've just been doing 18-20hr days with snow removal and towing idiots out of the ditches :shakehead
I think the real killer is my Dakota is a 5sp and then operating the blade at the same time is just working muscles I havent used in some time.

Well lets see how long this takes to post my "quick reply"....

I was just kidding about junking it

You can burn up that temp sending unit if its ran dry too long.
Thier's two things you never want to run out of,
thats oil & coolant. Sounds like your headers might have to wait

On a side note does anyone know where you can buy a G5 spoiler?
I didnt see them at PFYC, just the G6.
I saw a G5 that had a factory wing looked pretty nice :D

grfnkl
03-01-2007, 10:47 AM
G5 wing... i don't know Ebay prehaps? there are a few places i'm sure that sells aftermarket that look like it.

So I started the Toyota project again, by getting my fiances mothers toyota started and going again. I also have a person interested in buying it as well, despite the sludge in the radiator.!

I gota to go, got someone who wants to see space for a wedding.. oh joy :banghead:

yea g5 spoiler looks neat, dont like the G5 tho now that ive seen them up close... to small :gay:

the car rental im getting today is only going to cost right around $90, thats not bad at all for a little pos to get me places while the GA is at the dealer...

Before I take it to the dealership im going to put some distilled water, in there to make the trip to the dealership... I have power steering fluid on hand now to help w/ steering while it gets there... I just know im going to be sooo picky and anal about the dash being taken apart....

I dont like the G5, just its wing kinda.
I searched all over for a SC/T wing
I'm going to call a couple salvage yards tomarrow,
that is if my back feels better :bloated:

Last night I deceided to make my own ram air hood ;)
I saw some knock offs that were $700, GM parts direct wants $997 for the real deal.
I already have an extra hood, just buy some cooL scoops.

Never trust a mechanic :sly:

grfnkl
03-01-2007, 03:36 PM
$90 for a rental car? Isn't that a bit high...? Hopefully that's for more then one day though!!! It's good though to hear that you are getting the g/a fixed. hopefully the end of the problems for now.

I sat in a G5 before i got the 6. I wasn't impressed, at all very small, and cramped. Not very comfortable either.

have you tried PFYC for the sc/t wing. is wasn't that badly priced there. I got mine on ebay when i bought it. i would like to see what your ram air hood is gonna look like when completed, that should be sharp. I have an extra headlight at home... even though i don't have the g/a maybe i should mess around with it and customize it like i was going to.

Well Almost time to leave.

enjoy the day guys!

$90 a day is about right, even here where I live.

PFYC are kinda pricey on thier stuff.
I've just been bored as shit all week thinking of stuff I'd Like to do to the GA's.

I'm sure I'll come up with something cool by spring.
Still trying to keep the SE looking like the grocery getter though :naughty:
