I didnt get any rain, a little cloudy early in the day. Then it got humid and windy as hell!

Its been so nice here I took Friday afternoon off to go mushrooming, found 7 blacks/greys. I think its a little early up here still. Probley go out in the woods this afternoon and see whats popped up.
I dont even like to eat the things, but a few of my older relative cant get out anymore so I throw them thier way.

I couldn't agree with you more! Seeing how pontiac is in the top 3 selling car divisions of GM, yet they rather keep GMC and buick, basically a clone and a low volume car, i just have to wonder what the hell are they thinking. I was hoping to buy another G6.... i don't see the point now and seeing that i don't care for chevy and i can't afford a caddy or a buick, I don't see myself buying GM ever again now. :disappoin Thier loss another car companies gain!

I've talked to tons of other Pontiac owners within the past day and the majority are saying no more GM products from now on. the few that are holding on are hoping to get the new camaro which will be short lived when it gets overpriced by dealer markup. Everyone seems to be saying that they are going to buy either Ford, Chrysler (if still around as well) or foreign. I nearly threw the remote at the TV when Fritzy said yesterday on CNN that he feels that Pontiac loyal customers will buy chevy because they have some great stuff coming soon. :eek7:

Yeah Im totaly PO at GM for dropping Pontiac.

This is why they are in the mess they are in. Closing Olds was the start. I know hundreds of people who stopped buying GM when they dropped Olds, and now I hear people saying this about the Pontiacs drop. They are trading in on Fords.

Speakin of droppin, Ive got a chance to sell the GT!??
I told them $9000 and its thiers, they said $8000.
....Still thinking on it. :dunno:

I guess the Pontiac prices will drop to remove all thier inventory. I realy would like to get a 1999-2000 TA or GTO. I know where a couple of each are right in my area....

Still dont have the SE all put back together after I stripped it this winter. It looks better then brand new, nice deep shiney black! :naughty: I have the rear end and gas tank installed but not the drivetrain yet. Hoping to get that in this week. :runaround:

I'll get some new pics up after Im thru. She'll be sittin a little lower too. Picked up a set of those Ebauch springs and the KYB struts Ive had for over a year. She'll be looking titts as hell! :ylsuper:

ive always liked pontiac,... grand am, trans am, GTO!!!!!!.... and now we get dropped. bs.

maybe if prices of parts go out I can pick up a new window assembly for cheaper than uh.. $200 something effing dollars, have BOTH of my front windows working :p

If I could, I would... get my lower 3400 built by milzymotorsports, put on stgIII 3500 built heads/cam & pnp lim/uim and call it a day. soooo much money :| Imo I think MMS is a bit pricey with their grand am products.

You're right XI, first they did it with olds and now with pontiac... they really know how to upset their customers!

Someone offered you 8 grand for your gt! :eek7::eek7::eek7: Take it! I've seen newer GT's go for less! Recently my wifes sister-in-laws co-worker found an 02 Gt coupe for 4,000 with 102K miles.

I can't wait to see your SE and how it looks!!! Better hold on to it... it maybe worth a lot of money someday.

Yeah :iagree: MMS is very pricey ! But he knows he's the only one who's willing to mess with these. At least I dont know of anyone else.
When I done my SE heads I just used someone elses specs and eyeballed some heads combustion chambers and went for it, I have more then 6 sets just laying around. lol

Gir you can buy those regulator on fleabay for less then $50 Ive bought some for someone elses GA and they worked as good as stock ones. I actualy think they looked a little more heavy duty then OEM.

Yeah $8000 isnt realy enough IMO.
Everything's new jsut about. Both front wheel bearings, new trans, new top end, new headers with Cat back, CAI. Custom interior lighting. New power steering pump and hoses, new brakes/rotors/tires, new tie rods inner and outer, nnew alternator-110Amp, new light bulbs all around with nonleaking rear tails(w/non shorted curcuits). And Its only got 122,000 miles. :p

The SE, it is even more newness, oh and HP. :D
...And its a 4 door. Ive got a fwe pics of it stripped. Everything underneath was removed to do repairs and spray it with Rhino lining undercoating :evillol: Stuff makes it quiet! Right now it looks horrible until I can buff it out. Still getting everything back in without dinging the paint. :eek7: I was hoping to also get the interior completly redone but Ive been so damn busy its not even funny anymore. :runaround: I just wanted to replace the carpet and redone the door coverings.
Been also looking for a GT with leather interior at the salvage yards but everyone must be babying them to much cause they aint wreckin them.

You know what Xi I forgot about all the work that you put in the GT... I keep confusing some of the things you have done with the SE.

We got our civic at the beginning of the week from PR. Already the car is not doing so well. The last few days the car seems to feel like it's bogging down, then you here a nasty chattering noise come from the car while it shakes badly. As long as you left off the gas and let it coast a little the car will drive fine again. Hopefully it'll work itself out or be a simple CHEAP repair if something is going wrong.

I've already wrote a letter to GM about my unhappiness towards what they are doing.... and I know of about 50-100 people more that have done the same thing!

this makes me incredibly sad. I'm going to give up on my grand am now since pontiac will be gone :( I will mildly fix it up and call it a day.

Gasket leak again... one year after the other one was replaced. Spilling coolant out fast and this time I have no money to fix it. Need to hang on till the end of the summer when I can lease a Legacy for $200/mo until I can afford a nicer car... NON GM!

Oh and I'm leaving for Argentina tomorrow until the 11th, wish me luck and fun :D

hearing people on the news is sorta funny explaining the depth of the virus..... I mean its really along the lines of "Well... we think a pig ate bird droppings, that the bird had avian flu. Then we think it mutated, and a pig farmer who was already sick with the flu.... contracted it's flu and mutated with our human flu to combine just a new mutated strain of swine flu" -my local news. Duuurrrhhhh.. :p

still holding out on the oil change :| got about 60 saved to buy oil but then I'd only have $20 or so in my pocket... payday is thursday in a few days. Im at 5600 miles on this same oil which had cleaner detergent mixed in with it.. I didnt expect to be so low on cash this time around :(

I can't stand the news and the swine flu. It's been around for a long time and they are acting like it's the plague! Just like the regular flu if you are extremely young or extremely old you have a higher chance of dying! So wheres the friggen difference!!

Hey XI i need your automotive expertise. My civic has been acting up since it got here to NC. in lower speed ranges (20-40mph) you here a metal chattering type noise or a metal vibrating noise. the car also tends to vibrate and bog down when it happens. it only seems to happen when the car is fully warmed up and randomly. Any thoughts? I was told my clutch differential could be on the way out....no CEL's though.

05-05-2009, 06:33 PM
I think the whole H1N1 is a bunch of :bs: ! Im not worried about it realy, and I think as long as your healthy you dont have much to worry about. Just something to make the Tamiflu stocks go up cause everyones buying it. :shakehead

On your civic grfnkl, it could be your clutch or trany. One other thing is your flywheel cover could be loose and I think they are metal on this car.
Wasn't this shipped to PR ?

btw trying google chrome right now, its not any faster then IE7.... :(

grfnkl
05-05-2009, 06:51 PM
Yeah the civic was sent to PR, and sent from PR to NC. LOL this car is well traveled! It began it's life in florida with a brief life in Washington DC before going to jersey, then being sent all the way to PR only to be picked up and moved to NC. Back on subject. I'll try to climb under and check the flywheel cover. I believe they are metal on the car as well which may explain the other metal noise i hear coming from the car when the car is in gear. I'm leaning more towards the clutch going bad though. the funny thing is other then these noises and the few times it began shaking/vibrating, the car has been shifting fine with no hard shifts or major constant issues.

I told em that Ill add more coolant to my oil, ps, brake and windshield wiper tank... and ill spray the coolant all over the window and car to make it run cooler, he is running a separate heat exchanger for the SC only... I told em Ill do the same but for a top mount air/liquid setup lol ... and I was informed pics or ban lol.... Well, these results dont lie :D

oil changed, and its running smoooooooth :D makes a world of difference.

I can hear my AC Compressor on the clutch rattling or w/e.. just waiting for my AC to go out :( I also have a leak I think... looks like LIM where it meets the heads and its just leaking to the outside, while I was under the car I could see all this oil spray on the bottom and on the tranny. its not MAJOR, but I guess I should take it easy for time being. I wanna look into a rebuild kit for my baby. but then it hits me again... MORE PARTS! lol... I'd still throw in a stageI cam, PnP LIM/UIM lol and some more tuning. A local guy has HPTuners on his laptop, could prob hook me up.

If anything I'd do that, do the rebuild and get the motor running good again (replace worn parts, maybe replace some valvetrain stuff.. coughNewpushrodsCOUGH :D ). Then do a dry zex setup and call it done.

lol no my front yards never flood, that would be a drag. Though I have a pond thats overflowing quite often these days. Luckily I installed an overflo pipe to drain excess water down hill from everything. I know We got pounded with rain and wind lastnight!

Yeah we'll know which GM stealerships will be closing soon enough. I bet most all Pontiac dealers will close, and keep the Chevy one's since thats their main focus. Chrysler is closing almost 800 dealers.
I realy dont see how closing shops/stores is going to help any of them in the long run. Just going to piss everyone off and they'll go buy Honda's and Toyota's. :shakehead

On a side note, I did sell the GT lastweek for $8k.

She runs into that bar at the hotel that is right there. She is screaming my kid are in the car. There was an off duty paramedic who I knew and also an off duty Matteson cop. They got to her car just in time. The water was just covering the windshield and the roof. The kids were in the back seat so the water did not reach them yet. Now when the viaducts flood Matteson has installed gates across the road so people can't drive into the flooded viaducts. Also has yellow flashing lights.

some gas tank sensor, emissions w/e is out and the SES light comes off/on :screwy: usually it'll be always on, sometimes off in like cold/morning starts it'll be fine then pop on later

Some sorta valve train components are tapping or doing a sync motion of noise, I can only say it sounds like metal on metal, like if the camshaft was tapping against somthing

I have a Auto Tech-Machine shop.
For years I worked by myself in a shabby pole barn(w/mostly gravel flooring) working on everything and anything. And I done machining in another building, which kinda sucked running back and forth the 1/2 mile.
Saved my $$$$ and built a nicer-bigger shop. It even has heat and AC. Im not a stealership but I usualy have 8-10 automobiles for sale, no certain makes/models.

If you were only worried about you GA lasting a couple years, Id just pull the heads and have them machined. Install new gaskets and lifters, if thats whats making the ticking, and call it a day.

On your emissions probly your O2s or Cat. Converter is done.
Do they still do saftey inspections in Texas ??

And with your AC, its probly cheaper to fix the problem(s) rather then buy a new unit, they's pricey ! :grinyes: Though you can find remanufactured one's for cheaper. I dont think I could live that far south without AC, to damn Hot ! :uhoh:

Aren't you glad that you posted this! LOL. You could use the windsheild washer fluid that melts ice. It's a yellow color. Basically it has some anitfreeze in it. I've used that before to clear the windows. I've done the small hole in the window myself a quite a few times, plus I've done it with no rear window defrost as well. I learned last year how to deal without mine being that it would melt off the window and throw sparks all over the back seat. and the next person with my G/a Must be cursing that car out. LOL.
Hey man i wanted to know how you made that thing for your sig. Its cool

Oh my sig! I used Photoshop then I switched into Image ready to make the animation portions of it. The biggest pain was getting the letters to look right as they "come on" as I look at it.

Hope everyone had a good Memorial day weekend!

That is fine I have it rigged up for now, using a piece of water pipe and muffler clamps. Just can't drive like a bat out of hell.

BTW had the fuel pump go out in the wife's Silverado. The tow was not bad. $65.00, Then the labor was $200 and the pump was around $400, plus the tax. If I could have done the fuel pump I would have. I knew that it would have been a back killer. When it rains it pours, and at the most inopportune time.

Yeah they probly installed a whole new fuel unit with new float and everything. They are pricey !!
What I hate is most pumps go out with at least a half tank ,if not full. In a truck like that you'd need 5-6 5 gallon cans around.

Yea back to the grind tomorrow. :sarcasmsign:
