My days hanging out at the bars and getting totally wasted, are long over. I was fortunate that I use to take the train to work. I was still lite the next day. Needless to say I missed my stop, not thinking to clearly, I got off at the next stop. When I looked at the train schedule, oh fook the next train would not be until 10:30. The good thing was that the service manager, the office manager, and the senior secretary had the day off. So I got away with that one.

xeroinfinity

damn Vipey that was good you didnt get struck.
But you were probly safe in the garage since they are concrete and lightining doesnt go through it very well.

Thier were some little nasty storms blowing thro the past couple days, I'm tired of the rain. :(

grfnkl
06-26-2008, 11:45 PM
One way to tell if the lightning was about to strike THAT close to you is if the hair on your body begins to stand on end ( like you have goosebumps) before the strike even occurs. That's when you know it was way to close for comfort. We had a nice storm by us the other day... and naturally i was standing in front of the large sliding glass doors that has nice think metal bars in front of it when a bolt of lightning struck close enough that there was little time delay between flash and sound. I heard tons of car alarms and kids crying after that (mind you after i jumped back about 30 feet).

xeroinfinity
07-02-2008, 03:16 PM
Ok I dont know what you all listen to in music, but I like just about anything, well except for country oh and hip hop.

Any who Last week I downloaded this Nine Inch Nails sampler , "lights_in_the_sky-over_north_america_2008_tour_sampler" from NIN web site(free on thier web), I guess its to promot thier new album Discipline, its free to download too. :ylsuper:

It has a few bands that play the tour, most sound techno(dance), rather then industrial which is what NIN realy is.
I kinda like the "Crystal Castle-Crimewave (http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x4v1so_crystal-castle-crimewave_music)"(lyrics are a hoot) and maybe "A Place To Buy Strangers"(that's a wierd name), and "Does it Offend You, Yeah?- We are Rockers " (thats even a wierder name). I like the NIN Echoplex, kind of a joke if you check out the lyrics. Trent is a strange man.

Good listen for free..... safer then torrents. :iceslolan

Yes it's been slow in grand am land lately.

For music, i listen to most anything as well. I'll have to check out the NIN new song when i get a chance. I've been a little behind on new music recently...too many things going on.

well the 4th is in a few days! :iceslolan Anyone have any special plans? The most I'm doing is going to a BBQ at my cousins house.

stay safe everyone,.. and try not to blow up your hands. :grinyes:

in my town, they made fireworks completely illegal, and $500 fines will be given out :o, sucks lol

only thing I can understand is that there is alot of farm-ish land all around the area, and its been really really dry mid-late june... a fire would spread really quick heh

I have a friend at work who owns a fairly nice cavalier, bore/stroked to a 2.6L, purrs like a kitty :D, very quick, and makes more whp than my grand am lol.

Anyways, he was telling me how alot of the cav guys like to do the 'v6 swap', well what do ya know, they like the 3400/3500 as well, even 3800 series. He was explaining to me that their 5-spd tranny bolts right up to the 3400... Is this true?

I also saw somewhere that we can use a isuzu getrag tranny as well, but I didnt read much on that

---
more info: http://www.j-body.org/forums/read.php?f=30&i=40670&t=40670

I would actually consider this, IF.... I had a GAGT to work with, part away my SE, put all my bolt on's on the new motor, do the 5spd swap, and go from there..., Use the center console from a SE manual 4cycl tranny

xeroinfinity
07-06-2008, 12:20 PM
Yeah Cav's are quick, they dont wiegh very much.

You should know that thiers many GAs with other engines, its a lot of work from srcatch, but if someone has info it makes if a little better. Its the PCM/BCM corrections thats cruicial in getting it up and running. The mechanical swap isnt bad at all.
MMS has this worked out too, even offering the 5 sp swap now.

I do know our automatics were used in isuzu and i think a mazda/toyota, so a 5 sp isnt far off probly. Probly POS's just like the 4t40 series.

I want a RWD GA with an LSX motor. :ylsuper:

Did that start out as a 2.2 or 2.4L?

I want a RWD GA with an LSX motor. :ylsuper:

I do too! I was actually planning to put one (well, some V8, anyway) in my Beretta right before it wound up on it's roof.

Too much work though (basically I would have had to build a V8 RWD car very small and put most of the Beretta's body on it, and give up luxuries like HVAC, power steering, and leg room), I'm now thinking about buying a Pontiac G8 GXP after the used ones are affordable. 402 HP from a 6.2L V8! Of course I'll have to move 14 miles closer to work to be able to afford the gas for one by then :eek7:

I've gotten the same double post message before. Some posts are missing or I'm going crazy. After your marriage pic XI, some guy posted about him picking up a grand am for his daught etc etc, then you posted about it being safe being on wood blocks, then i made some comment which i forget ( yeah leave it to me to remember what other people say and not myself). Then i come in later on and see that post plus my other posts in the G/a forum all gone. Well Something happened to the server.

Seems the posts are somewhere in cyber space!:eek7:
I did have a problem loggen back into the forum also.
Since my driveway is not paved, I can't use conventional jack stands.
I did have both vettes up higher on the wooden blocks when i did the header & dual exhaust conversion on the 78 & while it was up i installed a HurstShifter, also R&R'd the entire exhaust on the 85 vette the same way.
I got the 93 GrandAm up to do the entire exhaust on that & get to them heater hoses since im also R&R'n the heater core. Hope i can remember how the dash goes back 2gether/lol ! On the 93 I also did the struts, upper intake gaskets, thermostat. It's my daughters first car so basically im goen thru everything. We also have a 07/G5 & 08/G6, thankfully thay don't need any work yet.

http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e395/TONY_TATTOO/0621081527.jpg

Got a few blocks under the subframe also, only problem with the exhaust install was the rear muffler hanger,I had to take that in2 work & torch off the factory screw

we've been kicking around 105F daily here :| ... soo hot

I moderate with the AC, first I swing my door open (since none of my windows work) for a good 1/4 mile on my way to subway for lunch. Then max AC at 3 fan speed... it seems that anything faster doesnt even allow the AC to get colder

xeroinfinity
07-17-2008, 07:36 PM
that does suck not being able to roll down the windows. :(
My older van is like that all the motors are crap and I'm not spending anything on it, so I just keep the AC charged.
