Yeah the FM trans are crap. I have one.. and it barely works. Damn metro area... there are so many radio stations it's hard to find an empty channel to use. I love the g/a cuz it had the tape in it and i could use that for my ipod. Also the g/a's sound system i feel is better then the g6... maybe I'm not setting it properly... I'm excited about this head unit though.. it has all the same features mydoes with the HUD... it has just the extra aux plug that i don't have! Maybe i'll sneak out of work early and look into this! muhahahahah:lol:

I switched out all of the stock speakers on my GA, and still used the old OEM unit with the tape deck... only then I thought it was decent lol... I think I stabbed the old speakers with a screw driver once I got em out

I may have eventually would have switched out my speakers on the g/a... if the 6 didn't come into my life. My back speakers were messed up badly... but most everything electrical in the rear of my car was shorting out. I did fix the one speaker since all it would do was buzz VERY VERY LOUDLY... even if the music was low.

I'm about to hook some old speakers I had (stock speakers) to my subwoofer amp (1200 watts)... ahahahahha :)

You know that the stock back spealers are 6x9's I just found an old set from the SE.
The center tweeter comes off to, just remove the screw that runs through the magnet.

I just wired that to the wires ir was originaly hooked to.
A little extra high hiss never killed no one .... :cwm27:

Greetings and Salutations. I recently aqcuired a 2003 Pontiac Grand AM 4dr with the 2.2 Ecotec engine. I was just looking for a work car since I have to drive 100 miles to San Angelo on occasion to help out one of the engineers there at the hospital. I also support Brownwood hospital too. I was mildly amazed at the performance from this small 4 banger. It has 118,000 miles on it and so far all I have done is change plugs and switch over to Mobile 1 oil. I have already added another 3,000 miles and noticed my mileage has increased from 27 to 31 mpg. As soon as I can get an appt I am getting the tranny serviced. Shows in the book that 100,000 is the max for fluid and filter change. One thing I was wondering about, was there any updates to the PCM module that included fixes for high end shifting? I noticed that when going up inclines (not hills), as I ease off the gas the tranny would suddenly shift down slightly as if there was an intermediate gear between OD and 3rd. I figure there has to be a set of planetary gears at work here. I can't figure out why it is shifting since I have plenty of power.

LMAO. As I was on my way to my aunts house to work on her vette... i saw a bunch of deer feasting at the side of the road... then i thought of the 911 call....and picturing some guy actually having this happen to him...... hahahhaha

On to my vette project...I put a can of seafoam in the car... and now the vette turns over!!!!! YAY! :jump3: but it runs like crap then stalls out. I found out though as long as I don't flood the engine it won't backfire out the carb... So it's getting there!

Have any of you all been the the Arcade (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/arcade.php)here at AF ?

The have boatloads of games...
I'm on that dial up still so it takes them for ever to load so I just play the crap out of whatever game I've loaded.

Havent been over there for a while though, I need to do the Bin laden Shoot out at the conveniant store, that game rocks!!

Yeah sand/media blasting is dirty work but the day goes by fast.
Since the SE is tore down I've been hitting some of the rust on it too. The trunk lid was hideous with rust and the factory rubber sealant they used was all gone
Almost replaced the whole trunk, it was so bad, but I needed the practice ;)

Cut off wheels are dangerous! :yikes: :evillol:

I've checked it out once or twice... but I haven't been there in awhile. I think the last time i went there was pre-dsl for me. Maybe i should check it out again.

Well I'm not doing the sugar high thing today. My manager is back and I am able to go for my daily walks... which gets out some of that pent up energy! Plus i started to eat some sour blueberry things.. and they just didn't do it for me. I need some soda.. BAD! I had some last night ( first time in like 2 weeks) and now I need it. It so addicting! :grinyes:

Hopefully the rust isn't too bad on the SE. You found some up front as well as in the trunk area? My 02 had rust on the trunk deck lid along the edge.. which formed after the first time it rained on the car after i bought it. It never got any bigger... so I left it.

For media blasting... I don't care if I get dirty... that's the fun in working on things. as long as I don't care about what I'm wearing... Bring it on! there's no better satifaction then crawling around in the dirt/mud or a greasey engine and knowing of a job well done! :iceslolan

NO soda for two weeks!! :yikes:

I have at least one Dew a day, boatloads of Tea/Coffee :bloated:
But I'm usualy on my feet 3-4 hrs at a time, so I need to feed :grinyes:

I wouldnt get anything done if I didnt drink caffeine(d) daily.

Yeah the SE has several bad spots.
By Both back doors, the part between the door and rear bfender well. Paints peeled and rust is forming...
Plus both rear fender wells where the two parts(inside and outter fender) are welded, right where its bent from the fender edge.
If I dont get it now it'll probly rust through in the next year so I'd better get on top of it, before it gets on top of the car

Oh and I forgot the trunk area , I think my anteni leaked looks like I came from that part anyway. :disappoin:

At least the weathers been great here. I think the cooking summer is over, thank god ! :uhoh:

ive been workin workin... just trying to find a steady GOOD job I can goto everyday and save up for a new car I can do payments on, as well eventually save for school.... around in my area, one of my friends is going to TSTC (Texas State Technical College) he said his semester was only $1200 after everything and hes going into automotive technology / body work .. he wants to work on custom cars, and rebuild and do carbon fiber sort of work

I wanna see if they have something related to tuning, and if so ill save up money then to see if I can goto college there, if not, ill place my savings else where...

right now the job I have... I work at a data storage center, documents and misc items in storage... even books from the 1800s ! sorta cool.. but I just sit at a computer all day and enter in stuff... 8hrs straight... first 2 days sucked.. I thought this job is horrid... nowonder why I'm the only one doing it... but I brought my ipod, made it easier lol

now my friend jared (who owns the 98 cobra) is workin with me.. so hopefully it wont be so bad :grinno:

grfnkl

I try to keep away from soda when i can and drink more juice or tea.... not that i mind soda... it just messes with your body when you drink too much.... Coffee... did someone say coffee? Especially dunkin donuts coffee... :jump3:

It's good to catch the rust early on the SE.... while you can. I know I have some work with rust to do on my 88. Surprisingly nothing too extreme on it... for the age. Only 2 spots where it has gone completely through..:disappoin one in the rear inner fender well and a spot in the driverside door. The door though it keep after that one so it doesn't get bigger. Other then that just some surface rust on the bottom of the doors and a spot on the hood. Everything seems to be an easy fix when i get to it... or if I have someone else do it.

hey Gir... congrats on the job. At least your bringing in some money now... better then before. As mindless the work maybe at least you got a friend working with you... and it could be worse... you could be working at the hell hole i work at...
I'm constantly looking for a new job with no success right now. If i don't find something soon... I may leave my job and take a little vacation to see my girl for a month or so ... we'll see though. :naughty:

Yeah i remember those times... making the money and not having much bills. For me it was about $9 something an hour and only had to pay gas Which was a whopping 1.30 a gallon driving my 88 with it's eco-friendly 4cyl, and paying my phone at a crazy $25.00 a month. Wow times have changed since 2000! I felt like i was rolling in the dough though.... and now I'm feeling really old... anyways then I had the reverse where i had 3 part time jobs which was about 50-60 hours a week and full time school and not a dime to call my own. Those 3 jobs, which paid, 6.50, 7.30, and 8.00 and hour all combined still was not enough to cover my bills. and the highest paying one was under the table. During that time i had to put the g/a up for sale cause i could not afford it... but i felt i didn't have it difficult enough and decide to put the g/a into the pole and I didnt have rental coverage so that was out of pocket..... and then get a speeding ticket... needless to say I was broke! Somehow or another i made it through. I can say live it up at home while you can... that's what I'm doing!! :iceslolan

9$ is better then minimum wage, that would blow :grinyes:

One of my daughters friends just started someone doing data entry, he's makin $14 hr. He said the only drawback was he has to "dress up" for the "office" job. Who cares !!

Ipods are great for work !
I bought myself a ipod shuffle, things so small I loose it all the time. I have over 12 ablums on it so I have tunes coverd for hours :ylsuper:
Battery lasts forever too .... yeah!

The job market is prety slim around here in Indiana from what I hear.
I had a chance to work at both the Catapillar and Isuzu plants just south of me several years ago. The hours sucked ass!
12 hr shifts, 7-7... 4 days on- 4 off, every month you switch from days to nights :banghead:

Very true, I absolutely agree...... I can't even live on what i make.. and I can say that it's more then $10 a hour.... and not enough over here. If I made what i make here and live in Delaware... I'd be better off.... this is how i look at things

New Jersey "single" male over the age 25
1 bedroom apartment $1000.00 ( in a bad neighborhood add an additonal 300 for a nice area)
car insurance $1200.00 ( a year, multiply by 2 if you are under 25)
Gas price $2.45 a gallon ( currently) based on a 11.5 gallon fill up @ 6 times a month.

So in a given year to live over here on your own you will spend an estimated $16000.00 a year. This doesn't include any other loans like car or student, utlities which i could not even compound to calculate and other personal costs like food, and other items. The lowest you can make around here to barely survive on your own is about $25K after taxes about $30K before taxes. SO you have to make roughly $15 an hour just to live out here. CRAZY isn't it! :screwy: This is the reason why I HAVE to live the parentals.

I'd rather still be in school with my friends! Forget work... it sucks! This mount just attached to the two bars that hold the passenger head rest.

And here is a short vid on my favorite road :D

You can see it shakes pretty bad, I've seen worse.

sweeeet :) I need to make one too. OMG I was following a geo metro lsi the other day with holes in his muffler... ahahahaha i about died laughing! I decided to drive next to him and make my uberlow exhaust cause his to sound funny (sounds mixed together), then he "gunned" it and got to like 90 or so.

Well since my tires fooking suck now since i fried them in 10k miles thanks to poor alignment, if i go over 80 my car shakes like a mofo so im scared to go over 80 :( I got new front tires but my chewed up ones are in the back... so anyway he went by me and i wasn't gonna go after him. when we got into a town i was toying with him, stop and go stop and go just to see how slow he was LOL... then this bigass RAM 2500 came up next to us with an exhaust too and I was like ahhh shit... so we were all blasting different tone exhausts and it sounded like a demented orchestra LOL...

then a viper convertible drove by and i cried and the end.

Yeah the GT surprises me sometimes, it barked the tire I think on one of the left handturns :D

I was listening to Opeth, morning rise I think.....
When I get up to 70ish you can hear the wind noise real bad. I tried cleaning it up with my program but it didnt work well. great test though. I thought about trying it with the seat in a different position, might shake less.

:uhoh: ... I'm still waiting for all the parts for the SE.
Trying to get some cheapr headlamp housings off Ebay,
but I think this one I bid on someone was sniping it and it kept raising ridiculously
I cancaled my bid and reported it... who they think thier messing with

I like those "cracker" pics XI! Too Funny. I watched most of your vid too... it wasnt that bad for shakeyness... I've seen much worse... like the ones where you want to grab on to the person video taping. I didn't have the sound one so I couldn't hear all the fun.

Vipey... a Metro going 90? Are your sure about that one... I thought i heard anything over 35 they would flip over due to the force of the wind. I could only image what the "orchestra" sounded like... :grinno:
