On another trippy note my GT was crapping out this weekend. Would hold onto 1st and not shifting unless you red line it. Then from 2-3 it would slippp, then slamm peeling out :rolleyes:
Changed the trans filter & fluid seems to have helped but its still acting strange.... Also throwing a shit load of codes.
Cleared them hoping they dont come back :disappoin

I smell tranny rebuild :(

I accidentally put my car in reverse while going 15mph the other day... that probably wasn't good. Keep checking to make sure it doesn't explode...

well if you want to run low 13's or better you're already going to have to look into building up the tranny. Those things don't like taking any abuse or power whatsoever, or go w/ a build GTP tranny.

You can actually use GTP trannies for grand ams? How the hell does it fit? And how's the gear ratio? Isn't it the same as Grand Am GT gear ratio?

MMS is looking into swapping out GTP trans parts for the GA GT Trans I believe... nothing as of yet

stock GTP parts can easily hold GA power lol :lol:

in which case quad4 has it's advantages, if you have manual I think exedy or act makes a clutch for the trans... thumbs up

Dont worry vipey 15 mph is nothing. I accidentally put it in reverse at 55 mph. And Amazingly didn't blow the trans or engine. If i did though the mustang who cut me off which caused that mess would have gotten his cause he did it right in front of 2 cops!!

Why suddenly now they are thinkiing of making more parts available for the g/a tranny, this would have been very helpful for me a couple years ago when i ahd the g/a and was having problems! :banghead:

My GT is just a stock side car to goof off in.:smokin:

The GP and GTP use the same transmission that the older GA's,
98 and older V6 trans ,
the 4T60 and 4T65 and the new 4T65HD(which I have already:)).
These 4T40-4T45Es are just smaller and weaker.
Prone to overheat because most 3.4's run to hot all the time.:rolleyes:

So fitting a 4T65HD into a GA is going to require some modification to bolt up the motor,
new axle shafts and Hubs.
Shouldn't be to bad once I take the measurements and get all the parts I need.
I already have some new 3.1 engine mounts & engine to trans mounts.
Plus anything else I might need, I can fab myself :flipa:

I was just playing around on ebay trying to get some ideas of aftermarkets for the g6, and i actually found a 6speed manny tranny on there for $400! Not bad price, didn't say if it included everything or not, just said brand new 0 miles. I know i won't be changing tranny's unless i for some reason blow this one! :uhoh:

I doubt I'd kill it jsut yet. It runs at about 160deg all the time with the trans cooler plus running full sythetic helps.

when I got back to the dealer you could feel the heat of the car from the exhaust and engine bay, and smell that 'worn-in' smell :naughty:

On a different note, I talked to Mike at Mizly over the weekend. He is NOT working on any build ups for the 4t40e-45e other then a better torq converter.
He is working on the 4t65E HD convertion kit for the 99+ grand am's. Wont be cheap!

Also spoke with someone at www.engineered.net they have a race limited slip differencial(LSD) cost, $500 !
Plus you need to send back the core unit.

So I am still searching for a valve body(VB) improvment.
Which I know the 02+ 45e's had a change to the VB but I need More! :grinyes:

So as soon as I get the part #'s and everything together I'll post it all in one thread so everyone can see what they would need to beaf up thier 4t40e series of trans. It not going to be cheap, but if you are add HP you will want to add some reliability. Other wise it will fail. Heat is the biggest killer of all automatics.

That was something I didnt like is the GTO's being made in AU. No wonder the costs was so high.

Now I also agree that cars should be getting much better gas mileage then they do. It baffles me that my 06 G6 gets worse gas mileage then my 02 Grand Am, and my 88 gets even better gas mileage then the both of them.. getting up to 40mpg on the highway! ( gotta love the 4 bangers)

Unfortunetly they don't have a supercharger :disappoin... otherwise i would be crying even more first for the sucky gas mileage and secondly for the premium gas i would be putting in the car...

That's a shame though when a "piece" of history of the town goes down in a blaze of glory, you end up feeling like you lost a close friend. Maybe a silver dollar or two will be saved as a memory. That building was torched! GEEZ. did they deteremine the cause of the fire? That's a shame though when a "piece" of history of the town goes down in a blaze of glory, you end up feeling like you lost a close friend. Maybe a silver dollar or two will be saved as a memory. Do you think they will rebuild?

No they havent said what the cause was.
Several rumors are running around. One that someone who lived up stairs had a meth lab blow up(it wouldnt be the first in C'ville). Second is a transformer blew, third I heard was thier were grenades in the bar that caused it :lol: Thier was a store "new york shoe shop" on the corner with the Old guy also repaired guns. So thier was black powder and bullits shotting off in the pre dawn hours of the fire.

Also thier was one young guy who died. First they said he went back in to fetch a pet :rolleyes: But then I heard that him and his pregnent girlfriend couldnt get out through the door so he lowerd her out a window and he tried to go through the stairs and never made it out, so I'm not certain on any thing other then he didnt make it. I didnt know him but I used to be friends with his older brothers.

But already thiers supposed to be two benifits going down.
one for the victums wife and the other is too rebuild another bar. YEA !! It was the only bar I felt safe in.

Oh yeah i forgot to mention I don't have my "corner" office any more... I've been moved. Partially voluntary and partially forced. Now I'm more in the open like an admin desk, so very little privacy... no more feet up on the desk. :disappoin. I think i'm gonna leave soon anyways from my job... the stress is getting to me... and the BS i deal with is over the top, plus my owner just screwed me on business for this month alone that was probably about 30K in revenues... BUT he doesn't seem to care... so I don't really care anymore. I think today will be a dissappearing act from work.

back to the fire. That's a shame that one guy didn't make it out. Thankfully it was only one person and not lots of people injured and not making it out. Something that old and strong more then likely will rebuild unless the town doesn't want it for "their" pruposes.

We have had some strange fires near us. My town goes through these bouts with arson. Yes Arson in my town. ABout 2 years ago we had about 4-5 fires in one area within a matter of 2 months. 1 store was on fire twice, Then arcoss the street went up, then a gas station across from both of them on the corner blew up... and they all happen amazing at 1-3 am! Hmmmm. Only weeks maybe even days separting them. Plus a few stores in that area got threats telling them to leave or else. I think the most recent was a vacant building that the town wants "mysteriously" caught fire :uhoh: . But was put out very fast before any damage could be sustained. Thankfully it's only stores and not any homes.

That town is screwy! THe mayor has tore down several up town buildings that were in excellent shape. They cleared a whole corner block off next to the court house and built a parking lot. From what I hear only courthouse employees can park there.

He has also turned down 10-12 business's.
Allowed a Target' store to close after they let a wal mart build a surper WM. Now the old building has been empty for almost 2 years.

Still no word on what the cause was but I suspect a Lab was the cause because of where I think it started by the way it burned out the building.
