Was just sitting here thinking, tomorrows Friday the 13th. Didnt know where it originated from so google lead me here http://www.livescience.com/culture/090212-friday-13th.html

The ill-fated Apollo 13 launched at 13:13 CST on Apr. 11, 1970. The sum of the date's digits (4-11-70) is 13 (as in 4+1+1+7+0 = 13). And the explosion that crippled the spacecraft occurred on April 13 (not a Friday). The crew did make it back to Earth safely, however.

I thought that was more odd then the names of people stricken with fears of things around 13. :screwy:

Fear of Friday the 13th — is called paraskavedekatriaphobia as well as friggatriskaidekaphobia

Can you even say those names?

Be careless ! I'll be out dropping cars on my head.

Larry was a little jumpy today! :D Especialy when I drop that steel plate when he was under the lift. I never saw/knew a man of his age could move so fast. I wished that was on film we'd all get a great laugh!

yeah it didnt sound like it was getting good traction. That miss at red line was probly from a wheel speed sensor flakin out.
I like the other vids by this guy. His GA against the 2 different year stangs was awsome.
Though one thing I noticed was he's only running 13's, with a turbo. :screwy: My SE runs mid 13s and that's NA.

You would think that with a turbo it would run an ET faster than that. At least it made it up to almost 50 today and no rain.

I hear good things about the new VW 2.0T TSI motor :D .... they mapped a stageI tune already.... you get about 50-60HP from the tune, stock everything, makes 245-260HP total after to the wheels :screwy:...

xeroinfinity
03-16-2009, 06:07 PM
yeah the newer VW are tight!

I know you can get way more HP then that out of a 3.4 V6!
Just cost out the a$$ to doit ! :grinyes:

ps- I have a 95 3.3 turbo'd, pushin over 400hp. It came out of my 93 GA after I totaled it. :(

Gir-_-
03-19-2009, 10:12 AM

you got the motor from that? lol
Shit yeah ! Couldnt pry it from by cold dead hands. lol

Is that motor for sale?
No, reffer to above message. lol

At one time I was going to install it in a 96-98 GA but the whole 3.1 to 3.3 ECU crap was to tedious.
The engine was a schooling project with two of my friends. One passed away several years ago, and the other quit the auto industry and moved to montana to be a farmer.

Its been wrapped in plastic for several years now. The turbo was removed and bagged to prevent rusting. I know we sunk a lot of ca$h in that GA, to bad I wrecked it. :crying:

Yeah its Friday ! :evillol:

Yea it Friday, but I am not working so every day is Friday to me. Had an interview setup with Diebold, it was canceled. Due to the economy the position has been canceled. It is suppose to be in the 50 this weekend. Last night was below freezing. 32 degrees, it is cold today.

I like the 50-60s at night, and my GA's like it best too. lol
Been lots of accendents out on the highways recently especialy I65. Amd these newer cars make one hell of a mess! not to mention the injured. :bloated:

It is called drive to your abilities and not over them. That is what causes most of the accidents. You are definitely right about the mess especially with a front end collision. The plastic is all over the place. Yeah on I-57 the state put steel cables in the medium strip. People have been hitting them left and right, and you see bumpers all over the place on the expressway. The tow truck drivers do not pick them up they are just left there.

I'm alive guys... but my froggie is not :(

Had to euthanize my froggie on Monday... she was a big frog too, biggest my gf and I had ever actually seen for an African Clawed Frog (about 3 inches)... she ate guppies as if they were snack cakes!

Had her buried next to a pond, I felt terrible though, it's awful euthanizing pets yourself, don't do it if you don't have to.

Other than that... just got a Fellowship worth about $45,000 dollars :biggrin::biggrin::licka: It will cover summer, fall, and spring tuition, as well as give me $18,000 spending cash, and $1000 towards medical insurance... therefore, I'm probably getting a car, and going to garage my grand am until I can beef it up like XI's :D

wooot!

Oh, and I'm going to Argentina for a Study Abroad... most things are paid for except passport and plane ticket... god the passport is going to cost me like $300! And the airplane ticket... wayyy expensive, and god knows how long the flight will be to the southern hemisphere!

And my Vegas trip got postponed until November... good thing though because I would have had to fly to Vegas directly from Argentina lol :p

I thought that I would post this here,

State Police Warning (serious)

DON'T FLASH HEADLIGHTS AT ANY CAR WITH NO LIGHTS ON!!

Police officers working with the DARE program have issued this Warning:

If you are driving after dark and see and on-coming car with no headlights on, DO NOT FLASH YOUR LIGHTS AT THEM!

This is a common Bloods member 'initiation game' that goes like this: The new Gang member under initiation drives along with no headlights, and the first car to flash their headlights at him is now his 'target.'. He is now required to turn around and chase that car, then shoot and kill every individual in the vehicle in order to complete his initiation requirements. Police Depts across the nation are being warned.

Their intent is to have all the new bloods nationwide drive around on Friday and Saturday nights with their headlights off. In order to be accepted into the gang, they have to shoot and kill all individuals in the first auto that does a courtesy flash to warn them that their lights are off.

Make sure you share this information with all the drivers in your family! Please forward this message to all your friends and family members to inform them about this initiation ritual.

jeez... how long have they been saying about not to flash your headlights at a car without any lights on?!!! I remember hearing about this before i even got my license which is over 10 years ago yet i never heard an instance where it actually happened. I honestly didn't think those gangs existed any place else then the east coast and west coast.

The other story is funny as hell! I'm locked in my car.:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

I think most big cities are plagued with some type of gangs. I remember the town i lived in, in new jersey would have an italian feast every year. In the beginning it was great several years later they were so many police and gang task force agents it just wasn't fun anymore. The worst part my town didn't have any gangs... they all came in from neighbors towns.

xeroinfinity, so how much snow did you get. Did you do any towing last night. The roads around me were treacherous. It took me 20 minutes that usually take me 10. I lost power for over 3 hours. The house got cold. Had to hook up a ups to the water bed heater to keep the bed warm. No opening day for the White Socks, too cold to play. What a bunch of weenies.

Sorry no cigar with that phony bill. 1600 miles over is not bad. I had a friend that use to go over by 5000 miles constantly. He would change the oil at 7500 miles. So at 12500 miles was when he had the oil changed. He was not using synthetic oil which I told him that he should use. When he spun a bearing, I laughed at him and ask him if he learned his lesson. He said that he did and would not do it any more. He had the engine rebuilt, and had a better crank and cam put in and some other stuff that I do not remember what he said.

I am going to hit an independent auto parts store and get a WIX oil filter. All the major part suppliers around me do not carry the WIX filters. I am not going to buy the K&N oil filter, I do not want to pay extra for a nut that is welded to the end of the filter. It is not worth it.

xeroinfinity
04-11-2009, 04:19 PM
Napa carries WIX dont they ??
I know mobil 1-101 is the same as the K&N without the nut, and still made in the USA. See this link if you havnt already.

04-11-2009, 04:50 PM
Just looked at the prices at K&N it is $13.99 and the Mobil 1 is $12.99. I did not know that these filters were that much. I guess that I have been lucky using the AC/Delco. Have been using that filter when I change the oil myself. During the winter I get it done at a muffler shop.

doctorhrdware
04-11-2009, 05:08 PM
What about using a blend of synthetic and regular oil. My car has a around 157,000 miles on it. It is ok to switch to a blended oil. Or should I stay with the standard oil.

xeroinfinity
04-12-2009, 10:56 AM
WHAT !? $12.99 for a Mobil 1 filter!?
Where did you price that ? Walmart carries them for much cheaper around here, about $6-7...

AC Delco, its made in china, along with many other parts these days. :disappoin
It doesnt hurt to mix Synth and regular oil.

I hear from some local performance GM guys that mantapart has been doin some bad business, not shipping parts/orders.

that filter guide XI is cool... just looking at the purolator and fram filter quality is bleh then you see the K&n/mbl1 picture and you see a quality filter... I'm glad Ive been getting the k&n for a while now, I get the HP 2001, the same filter just longer

I am now right at 5,000 total on the same oil... with detergent cleaner in there

btw, MMS has been hard at work.. no tranny upgrade, but now they offer Stage3 heads, stage3 cam NA/SC/Turbo.... separate parts if you'd like to build up your head on your own.... and a new 'race' block

I change my oil at 7500 miles or less. I also buy my supplies in Indiana the sales taxes are much cheaper than in Illinois. The parts stores that are around me are in Crook County and the sales tax is 10%.:frown: So it is much cheaper to shop in Indiana. :)

xeroinfinity
04-22-2009, 04:46 PM
10% is kinda high, Inidana sales tax just went up not long ago.

Since I am not far from the border. I am like 10 minutes away from Dyer Indiana. So that is why I shop in Indiana. The sales tax in Indiana is 7% :) which is a 3% difference. Which is a big difference. I even go to the Walmart in Schereville IN. The Crook County President Todd Stroger(just as bad as the ex Governor of IL) :loser:, announced that he is thinking about maybe going to reduce the sales tax by 1%. :frown: He thinks that is going to stop business from leaving the county. Which it will not stop them from leaving.

Here in NC it's $2.5 with 2% tax! the savings are unreal! Of course somethings are closer in price to what we were paying.
