I like that VW GTI MKV it's pretty sweet. Something about that red line around the grill... that just "adds" too it. Even though I'm not about the racing stripe thing.. but i like it. Now that Yellow one that you pulled up Xi, I really like that color... even though it's kind of a school bus yellow... it's pretty hot... It's different! I dunno about that iroc thing... When i hear IROC I think of a camaro (http://www.forgetheriver.com/ebay/1.jpg) .
no it's not friday yet... :shakehead I kept saying yesterday was thursday... much to my disappointment it didn't make the week go by a day faster:disappoin

I do NOT want it to be friday... here's why:
Tomorrow:
-Wake up (sucks) and take a quiz for a class I still have to read two chapters for tonight. This is at 8:30 AM.
-Tonight my friend is coming to town so we're going to go have a drink or two at Bdubs and maybe a bar... making tomorrow mornign possibly suck.
-Hour after my first class: ATMOSPHERIC DYNAMICS II EXAM! aka if I fail I'm fucked. It's going to be HARD.
-After that: 3 hour lab using MATLAB, a mathematical programming language. Ugh!
This brings us to around 2:30. From here:
-Go to Harry's (Xi knows this place probably!) and get a nice drink, either for victory or for failure on my exam. Both are good excuses.
-Go back to my apartment, prepare a routine because I teach a dance lesson tomorrow night
-At 5:00 my ex gf gets into town and I have to build my old computer back up cause she wants a computer capable of running Flight Sim X and stuff, so she bought my old comp for $400 and I'm going to make it run. Ick.
-At 7:00? PERFORMANCE! Formation performance to help with some show or soemthing. This ends at 9.
-9:00, run STRAIGHT across campus for ANOTHER performance, exactly the same. Following this performance I will be teaching everyone in the room a very basic cha cha with my temporary fill-in dance partner Margaret, who is about 2156162x better at dancing than me.
Then that evening:
-Go home, finish building computer, make ex gf go to sleep in other room.
-Go to sleep early, wake up at 6:45 AM Saturday morning...
Saturday:
-Work concessions for the Purdue-kicks-Notre-Dame's-ASS football game, from 8:00 AM to about 5:30 PM.
-Something else Sat evening I can't even remember
Sunday:
FOOTBALLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!! And way too much homework.
SOOO yeah it could stay today forever lol... oh yeah and I have practice tonight. UGH! I will never get any studying done :(

Damn vipey I thought my days sucked :eek7:
Call in sick :sly:
I have a crappy weekend planed myself.
Work saturday, afternoon goto some family get together.
Forgot Sat. night, boys want to goto go kart races....
Sunday, football.... Boxcar Satan in Indy at 8pm.
Then thier supposed to crash at my friends(roboticgod) and we'll probly get hammerd/smoked out drunk on a sunday night :runaround:
BTW You guys see any 2" drop springs for the 99+ grand ams , anywhere ??
Figure the SE needs struts, might as well check into some lower springs. :D
I'd rather have an air ride kit, but that requires work.
So I thought if I need to clear a speed bump or roadkill,
I can lift it high.
Then when in town I can slam it to the pavement, literally :naughty:
Probly swap over the rear suspension out with that GT w/disc brakes I have for parts.
I've about picked it clean , good investment :grinyes:
... man, I should write a book ...

I thought my days sucked... I guess I'm wrong! :grinyes: I'm getting a "freebie" work day tomorrow... sort of. Lots of bad stuff going down at work... so my manager just called me about 5 minutes ago and said to me ( paraphrased) "I won't be coming in tomorrow, I don't give a sh*t anymore, if you want you can take off too" Nice isnt it?!!! However knowing that i have a client ( pain in the @ss) that requires me to contact them yet again... I have to go in tomorrow... so a half day is in order for me! :iceslolan:naughty:
Everyone seems to have a somewhat interesting weekend planned. For me After my half day of "work".. go home and sit on my butt and watch tv. Saturday I have the joy of going to my girls cousins childrens ( triplets) 1st birthday party. thankfully her family is so open and likes me otherwise this would be very awkward. I just have to get past the "do you miss her" runaroundAfter the LONG day of a hispanic family party... I'll eventually get home. OH yeah i forgot to mention I get to drive my future mother in law to the party, and I think her good neighbor friend too! For sunday... Depending on weather I will be doing my usual landscaping work, maybe work on one of the cars, or whatever catches my fancy at that point and time. Then monday back to my hell hole job... Maybe... hahahah :evillol:

Just you wait vipey, you still have to deal with Thermo-dynamics, all those lovely calculus and differentials classes... etc. :naughty: You'll do fine though, if you like this as your career not much else will matter in the end. Hopefully you did well on the exam!

You know what i just realized today... I've had my G6 almost 1 year now! Next week should be the one year mark! The best part is, in this past one year I haven't wrecked the car! No major blunder, accidents... NOTHING! WOhOo! Now that I have said this I'm gonna knock on wood until my knuckles bleed. :iceslolan
Gir-_-
09-28-2007, 09:16 PM
yea, knock on that wood bro lol
I've figured... if I start saving now for a new car to put around 5k down on, plus trade in value of my GA... it'll take me 4-5 months with my current income :(
basically next spring, this is gonna be tough....
after considering ALL of my decisions/options of what I COULD get and what I want lol  ...... I have optioned the VW GTI MKv... its decent for the price, already stock turbo... 6spd or dsg automatic with triptronic (auto trans is sick on shifting...) but Ill prob get the 6spd as goes for costs...
I was thinking of plans already for one.... get one basically stock, stock cloth interior, 6spd, stock radio, no sunroof, stock rims .. either white or black...
EVENTUALLY, take all the cloth seats out, only replace the front 2 with the optional leather seats from the dealer... get custom interior done in the rear, not sure what.. Id have to look at it... then do rims and engine performance... I could care less about the interior really, as long as I have at least leather in the front lol, dont need a rear seat on a coupe anyways
Apparently they have a ecu write that adds a whopping 52HP over stock, basically tunes the turbo.. costs a pretty penny... like $600 :o
and basica stuff like full turbo-back 3" exhaust with high-flow cat available... umm injen intake, my preffered import intake brand :) ... expensive turbo swaps already..... but hopefully by then they'll have some engine/tranny build... some of the GTIs are already close on 330HP with beta programming and engine parts....
with the already lightweight, they're pretty quick =o
Edit: lol according to my forza2 game :)
the GTI can be swapped out with the 3.6L from a passat or the 2003 R32 engine AWD
I didnt know wtf the 3.6L v6 was so I looked it up, apparently it can either be FWD or AWD optional on the passat I believe.... and has a pretty impressive 280HP stock
"The 3.6s have a 280-hp V6 and a choice of front-wheel drive or VW's 4Motion all-wheel drive. A 6-speed manual transmission is standard on 4-cyl models. A 6-speed automatic is optional for them, standard on 3.6s."
I like how the swap is available... if it is in real live... the 6spd auto passat with the 3.6l.. I HOPE, will match up with a 6spd manual stick shift... http://www.born2oc.be/images/smileys/surprised.gif

Well today I installed a new inner fender well on the G6. I'm not 100% sure how it broke but it kept hitting the front wheel while driving. I can say there are more gah damn plastic pop-in clip things holding that crappy piece of plastic in. :banghead: I was ready to just rip it off and say to the hell with it. I did find out though my bumper is broken behind the inner fender crap... or at least where they attach is broken. THEN to add insult to injury I looked like a freakin moron cuz i couldn't figure out how to use the stock jack from the car. :screwy: there is some random metal rod thing that i have no clue what it went to but apparently it didn't prevent me from using it either... I don't know it was just way to overly complicated.

Yes you can squeal tires on dirt!!!
It is realy smooth actualy. The camera wasnt even shaking as much as when I did that other video, and that was pavement.
The camera was pointing a little to much to the right.... :uhoh:
I wasnt going to go to fast,
didnt want to damage any suspension parts.

Most of the in corner squeals were the rear tires, trying to drift it  Then out of the corners it was the front pealing out.
Going to order one of those DHP's pcms this week for the GT :naughty:
It runs pretty good and strong for stockish but I need to adjust stuff to get the most out of the CAI and exhaust mods.
The SE is about done, well sometime soooon!
I had to reorder engine mounts from the stealership, again, they sent the wrong ones.... twice!! :angryfire:
Still thinking about lowering it, though I cant find any 2" drop springs.
I have 4 KYB struts on the way so might as well do it all at once before I align the car.
Should improve my performance and handling.
I've also decieded to installl the RSM SC this winter whilest I'm not driving it.
The PITA about the whole thing is putting the battery in the trunk and running the power wires up front, which means you need to pull up the carpeting :banghead:
Then if its not enough umphff I'm going to sell the SC and do the turbo. I'll probly end up fabing one myself if I cant find one.
I saw a guy on Cardomain that has one for sale but he hasnt got back to me yet.... its been over a week, so it might be sold already.

I'll buy the SC off of you if you don't use it and assuming it's a reasonable price and you want to hold onto it for a while and many other non-binding conditions of awesomeness :)
god I can't wait to see how fast the SE becomes!!!
You'll need to come down here for a car meeting to show people what a grand am is capable of :)

I'll keep you in mind Vipey, if I get rid of the SC .
I figured 1lb of boost equals about 10 hp.
So 8psi should be close to 80hp.
If I remove the EGR, which it will if I turbo it, I can probly get a couple more ponys out of the little 3.4 that could. :D
234+80=314hp

Its a lot of HP for a GA.
Its funny because thiers 4 cyl cars , mostly imports, that have that much hp out of the factory.
It realy does take some getting used to.
After driving the SE then driving the GT or any other auto, it's like where's the beef !?
TG its almost Friday... :uhoh:

I always felt that the G/A SE's had more power then the GT's or at least the ones with the 3.4's. The 2.4's or 2.2 I forget what i had drove.... felt noisey and weak IMO. I find it tough going from my G6 to my fathers Vue... his wimpy 180 hp :shakehead ... vs my 250hp:iceslolan . If i could put my foot through the floor to go faster i would!

gotta get a fog light replaced, so i'll go to the pontiac dealer and see if they still have that WRX there (same place i test drove a gtp)... My parents are really pressing me to start looking for a new car, because mine is so old and has so many miles. I wont ever get rid of the GA, but I need a more reliable car for the future, and WRX's are reliable, decent gas mileage when you don't boost (AWD drains gas a bit but...), safer in WINTER!!!! :)
Oh, and manual is more fun. And the car is faster. So why not get it? I want a V8 like a GTO, but I just wouldn't be able to afford the insurance, upkeep, and especially gas! I'd have to mod it right away and I know getting a s/c for an already 400 hp V8 would be stupid.

This is how it starts Vipey.... you go to the dealer for one part and then the next thing you know you have a new (or newer) car. That's what happened for me! I went in for a simple headlight ring and about a month later i had the G6... but that's cause i was dragging them along to get my deal! hahahah  Anyways I would always get attacked when i brought the GT to the dealer... the sales people always where ready to take it off my hands... even when it was only a year old. Towards the end I was getting calls and notices in the mail asking if i wanted to trade in my GT. CRAZY! I know that it's not easy to find a good GT and it's really hard to find them in Silver like mine was(took me over a year to find mine). Heres a thought Vipey, Since your g/a is silver.... put a GT body kit, taillights and everything exterior on your g/a and bring it to the dealer... bet you they jump on you for the car. :grinyes: It's a thought... an expensive one at that.

I need to go to a junkyard and engine swap a waaayyy newer engine first :p 180k doesn't make dealers very happy :(
But yeah, considering a foxbody stang or a WRX for my next car... both are reliable and fast!! :)

Even with an engine swap.... they still see the 180K miles.... that's still 180K on the tranny and the rest of the car. I like the WRX's, just gotta becareful with them or at least out here cause it will get stolen. Now I know i'm gonna sound very stupid... what is a "foxbody" mustang? What year does that pretain too? This is the first time i've ever heard that before.
I've always found the Mini Coopers pretty cool. I would never buy one, but they are neat little cars. The best are the ones in the movie Italian Job! I think that's the favorite part of the move... Beside Charlize Theron...

Ahh.... I get ya now. I liked those years stangs... but more of the GT's I hate that base crappy stang.... they just didn't look right as a base model.
Smart move though thinking about what you want to get and trying to prevent from going into debt. It's always tempting knowing that you'll have the help to get a loan to get into a new car.... BUT that loan comes back to haunt you later.... Plus insurance on a new car while young (under 25)... SUCKS!

For one reason parts are not always available without special order and a long wait. Plus any new modles dont have the bugs realy worked out, leading you to need parts which arent available..... :screwy:

Havnt been able to stand up straight all day .... :uhoh:

There is no plan that you cna come up with other then parentals or some savings that you do not touch... otherwise... there is no way around if things go bad, other then sell and take a loss. I made the mistake of buying my G/A after I got laid off from work, and was just running out of money to pay bills.... but what better time to buy a car! :screwy: I sold my other g/a for $400.00 ( then bought it back 1 year later for $400.00) yes yes i know i''m crazy. But the car is worth about $1000.00 I don't think i would get that but its worth that!
the best advise I can give you is keep in mind a monthly payment, Car insurance and the "just in case" For me i thought i had it figured out... well i was mistaken big time... I bought the car... when my first payment came through no big deal, but then my insurance doubled which hurt really badly... then I was plagued with some really bad luck of accidents after accidents, where as prior to that i was only in 2 ( not my fault, no damage done in 4 years) I began an average of 1.5 accidents a year with the new car...Not good some of you remember the horrors I went through with accidents.... :disappoin That's my advice I can give ya... see that i been there done that. ALso try not to buy new like XI said!

Yeah I plan on getting like an '02-'05 WRX... they are the 2.0L boxer engines, turbocharged. Have that "bug eyes" look to them but I'll get a body kit or something to make them look newer. But yeah, NOT buying new! I plan on NOT getting in any accidents hehe... and since I'll be keeping my GA, if I can't afford it or if it breaks or soemthing, I'll just get rid of the thing and go back to my trusty GA :) Like an old pair of shoes!

Xi: I like both designs alot!... My only suggestion would be to play with the font of the "by thy hand" to match a little closer to the rest of the shirt.... since it feels a little out of place, otherwise good job!

I plan on keeping "storage insurance" on my GA which is like $5 a month or whatever, so it won't really be a big hole in my pocket :)
The WRX though will be a little unfriendly insurance-wise, but I think my parents are going to be paying insurance so that will be neat. If that's the only thing they pay for, it will at least be affordable for me ;)

I wish there was a storage insurance i could have gotten. I'm dreading moving to PR because I have very little insurance options right now... So i will be paying my full insurance for the year(s) plus payments for a car that I won't be able to drive. :shakehead The only option i have is a temporary termination of coverage which brings the car to no use for about 6 months with a significant reduced payment... however after that 6 month i have to redo all the insurance.... So in the long run it sucks! The brightside for me is that the mileage will stop going up on my car so when i get back my mileage should be near to every other 6 for the year...
If your parentals pay for insurance... that would be sweet!!! it would make things a lot easier.
Oh so i found out something new on the G6... I was driving down the highway put on my signal to change lanes... but I left it on since i was going from left to right on the highway safely.... Since I left my signal on "too long" my car started to chime at me incesently! Annoying yet cool feature. Now I will say something i said a while back... Why the hell do I have a chime for my signal on to long, but yet if the SES light comes on no chime? :screwy: where's the logic behind this?

Thier are some nice features on newer models of cars and trucks. Some though are usless!
Got a bit chilly here today, high 58deg... winter is near!!!!
I finaly got the SE 98% back together, still have the hood off. Its saying drive me with no hood! Lol
I put off the lowering spring because I couldnt find any 2inch drops :crying: So I'm also putting off the KYB struts untill I get those springs. Looks like a good winter project, I want to powder coat the springs yello anyways :naughty:
Was going to get this aluminum radiator from BeCool radiators but it would have to been custom and about $375 :yikes:
I went with a Delphi radiator part - RA#20019 a little under $150.
Replacing all the bushings up front was the most difficult out of everything.
Once I get it alligned(and new struts/springs), it should be driving closer to new.
Have a great week everyone!
