:iagree: They are cool cars and definetly under rated... I have heard there were tons of problems with the motors on them... if it wasn't for that they would be awesome. Wasn't there a TV series that used a Dodge Stealth... I can't remember that for the life of me... I think it was a revival of Smokey and the bandit in the mid to late 90's.

Hey Xi... Have you ever heard anything about the early 80's Dodge Daytona Turbo z's (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Dodge-Daytona-Turbo-Z-1985-Dodge-Daytona-Turbo-Z_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ6210QQihZ002QQitemZ12 0177049326QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW)? I've heard stuff that they are quite fast, and that's about the time when carol shelby got involved with some of the dodge line up like the omni GLHS and a few other models.... Figured i would ask if you have had any first hand experience.

Sweets?!!! anything not given out is up for grabs! I already had a few snickers and a reeses cup. Yumm!!! Despite the severe allergic reaction to the pumpkin donut earlier I'm still eating candy.... :grinyes: oh well...

Well I'm off to continue watching The Poltergiest!

Must of been taken 04-05' , some buildings are not there now and some new one''s arent shown.
My house is on the left ... the pentagram looking area. :runaround:

That area is cleared out more now but I didnt know it was shaped like that... :screwy:

Yes that is a scary image... the outline of the roads... kind of... ummm look like something.:uhoh:... oh and the cutout of the yard that's pretty strange... a Pentagram. Are you sure you don't have some type of underground government building hidden? All i can say though is that is a lot of land that NJ would love to have so they could develop for more taxes!

The Girlfriend is fine. the storm was a distrubance first when she went to her mothers home town this past weekend. When she got back to where she is staying currently ( the next day) it was a depression turning into a storm. she got the rain and some wind but nothing to crazy that she was telling me. The worst of the storm past her as of tuesday.

Yes TGIF!!!! I'm already home for the day... and loving it! YAY

grfnkl, I just noticed the drive(s) looks like a peni....
Glad to hear you womans alright!!
I seen on the news where some city in Mexico had major flooding and displaced over 900,000 people, and it was going to rain more.

Its been in the High 50's most of this last week, winter's right around the corner.

Yeah right Vipey, watch a movie and "crash"...

I cant wait to watch the game tomorrow, it will be a great game. Colts have the home advantage. I was checking out tickets for this game.... up to $5K on ebay.
I can see it better at home on the TV, plus I dont have to put up with the traffic jam when its over. :D

Vipey1337
11-03-2007, 10:55 PM
LOL yeah the traffic jams suck! my parents are going to the game. and yeah, we did pretty crappy overall at comp, but that's alright cause we didn't really get much of a chance to practice. we're hopefully putting on a movie soon... just listening to music and hanging out now :)

well now that the weekend is almost over... How depressing it is. Kept myself as busy as i could. Mainly today installing a new screen door on the house which ate up some time.

So we have a chance of snow flurries later on this week! WTF!!! I'm not ready for snow flurries! :eek7: Better yet though my girl is coming back into town the days we are supposed to get the flurries! hahah  She was complaining about that today to me.

hope you all remembered to change your clocks last night.... i guess this means I maty actually get to work on time now. :grinno:

Its been mighty nippy here at night, so I guess it is that time of year.
I remember when I was a kid it did snow by this time every year... :screwy:

I did forget lastnight to turn my clocks back,
but I remembered once I saw the time on the TV this morning.
That ate up my day.

Well the Colts lost 20 to 24, so close yet so far. :(

better luck next time...

This time change is really screwing me up! I've never had this happen before. I've been waking up at 5:30am...and not being able to fall back asleep! WTF! So I actually am making it to work on time! WHY??? I don't want that! It may have worked in my favor today since it was raining out and took me an hour to get to work. :screwy: Urgh... I'm ready to go back home... Night night everyone.

lol! So yeah, I might just save up for the STI someday and just have my grand am fixed up a bit... meaning engine rebuild with new fun parts and fix some rust spots that are forming :naughty: That should keep me having fun for a while!

OH! Guys, look on milzymotorsports.com... they are selling M90 Gen III superchargers for cheap! I don't know how the hell they got ahold of those and stuff but it makes me want to buy one NOW, even if I can't install it! Maybe I will... oh and also the tranny for a grand am is cheap on there too!!

Opinions?

grfnkl
11-06-2007, 12:21 PM
Save those pennies if you want the STI!!! Every penny counts! :grinyes:

I saw the M90 on MMS.... are your sure that's correct? It looks like it's only part of the supercharger, and not the whole thing. I dunno though I could be wrong. If it is the entire thing that's DIRT CHEAP!! Hell would buy one and then sell it on ebay if that was the case!

I made the mistake thinking i could tint my taillights on my own the other day... yeah I was really wrong on that one!

Gir-_-
11-06-2007, 01:13 PM
lol yea, tinting your taillights is more of an art form :) lol

sometimes to dark, others have dark red... and some people use black spray paint :disappoin

I'm still deciding if I want the GTI next year or not... I'm going to have to baby my GA during the winter months... no harsh driving and such :shakehead

sorta have that gut feeling of something is going to break soon... since I just got it working again not too long ago w/ the fuel issue (which is causing me to run lean... grr)

also have a ticket to pay off next week.. fun...
They passed a new law just recently for driving and with some sorta point system and to where I will be paying fines if I get alot of tickets over a yearly time period or something like that :uhoh:

time to invest in a new radar detector! lol

grfnkl
11-06-2007, 01:29 PM
Tinting the taillights as a form of art... I know! Jeez. I messed up soo badly when i was doing it. It was the perfect shade too... not to dark but not to light. I still have enough left to do 1 light.... not like that wouldn't look really retarded.:grinno: It just has too many curves that I'm just not skilled enough for... I probably could do the spray on if i wanted it bad enough.

ticket Point system? Um Ok. that's a new one for me! right now in my home town, the policia was told that they have too much spare time on their hands... so now that means super ticket blitz! My aunt already got nailed for changing lanes without signaling. But she got off without a ticket... probably cause her 95lb german shepard was going nuts in the back seat of her caddy. Plus a relatively good driving record as well. This is all in perfect timing too, I just got my radar back from being repaired! YAY!

It's kind of funny if you think about it. You can beat the crap out of a Grand Am to a point and at that point you know if you even push it slightly somethings gonna break.. And if any of you are like me instantly knowing something is wrong with the car before you even get to it... ie: a new ding or scratch , a new leak, or something stops working.

Looks like a stretched out GA, lowerd though. :D

On tinting your taillights, they sell stuff just for this.
I forget what its called though....... nightshade, or blackout
I like the clear ones myself. :)
I seen PFYC has the titainium ones on sale for $199.

I havent been over to MMS lately.

Y thank ya! I've had the picture for awhile...I finally got around to putting it into my signature. I'm gonna redo it so the picture looks better. for the taillights, your talking about the covers, right?! For the G6 they have slotted or open look to the covers... i just dont like them. If they had full covers that covered the entire light that would be much better. I would even be happy with aftermarket taillights as well.. but they don't make them yet.

Lucky you not getting a ticket there XI! Well wish your better half the best on the part of recovery from surgery!!!

No they sell a spray in a can used for taillights, originaly for windows.
I've seen a few crappy windows done with spray.
Looked like the glass was running. :grinyes:
- VHT NiteShade (http://modernperformance.com/all/nite_shades_tint.shtml)

After market parts are few and far between with amexican cars. :cwm27:

Ah... niteshade. I was thinking of the ventshade things. :banghead: Well I'll give it some time with the aftermarket... since it wasn't until about 2 years after i got the g/a that they finally came out with different tailights, and then finally as i was getting rid of the car that they came out with different headlights. It just annoys me that the G6 coupe already has some aftermarket parts that the sedan doesn't....

true

First ticket (paid off now), was because... at my old job me and my friend were attempting to get back to work on time from after grabbing our paychecks from across town AND grabbing lunch... going 11 over (bike cop, laser grr)

2nd was a speed trap... 45-30-45... its even a couple of feet to be honest, just a little section of a neighborhood that has 1 30mph sign.. then back to 45... I could run from 45sign to the other in about 3-4mins... but yea... I wasnt even attempting to speed... not even on the throttle just rolling to 30 and again.... another bike cop... w/ a laser :banghead:

detector was on at both times... and to add onto the story.. was coming home on the toll road and over the hill was a DPS state trooper (since the state owns the toll roads and not the local county) they're auth to govern the toll way..... cruise control saved me on that one lol... wasnt in a hurry really... my detector didnt even seem to notice :screwy:

as I got closer I could see the laser light on the gun aiming at me... pssh :smokin:

Oooo that sucks. They don't seem to use Laser guns by us to much. They use more of the traditional radar for our area. I've only gotten nailed twice. Once for "passing improperly" which i didn;t.... then the next damn day the road was gone... erased from exsistance. That sucked for me cause i couldn't prove anything. Then just after my first ticket's point were coming off to have a clear license... yeah i got stuck behind slow moving people.... well i found an opening and opened it up. As i approached 100 in a 65 double fine zone... coming down hill and around a bend... BAM my radar spikes and goes crazy. Yanked the e-brake so hard, dropped it down into the low 80's. and got a ticket for only 9 over for 74moh... less points lower fine and didn't get the double fine either! yay for me!

The ONLY other almost for me was I ran a stop sign once making a right... and the cop saw me coming from the other direction he slammed on his brakes and went to turn around but in doing so almost has an accident. I sped off and jumped down some side streets... i saw him looking for me.. hahah  Sucker!

Gir-_-
11-07-2007, 08:38 PM
yea I've only ran... er once or twice lol...

I was doing a few runs w/ a friend right when I got my car back from the fuel issue.. seeing if everything was up to my spec lol

and we were on the toll road :D, next to my house is prob a 2 mile stretch of perfect not even a year old road... was going like 116-122 or something.. thats all I could see, and I saw lights flicker on the other side of the road... but we were on a bridge part sooo.. we took the next exit off.. went to the nearest town then... went towards austin.. and then BACK to my town on some back roads :)

Some one needs to invent some radarjambing paint for cars.
The laser is hard to pick up with a detector since its so fast.
Doesnt work well in rain or fog, and when snowing heavy.

yea, all forms of moisture.. that can deflect a straight light :D

radar jamming paint? ... I would guess to have a paint coat like stealth bomber flat black (absorb the laser) or either something reflective... or even a chrome car :dunno: lol

I thought they made a jammer (http://www.radarscramblers.com/phazer.htm) for the radars??? Maybe it's just for the traditional bands. Until they come out with a new fool proof way to beat the system for the laser, I'll just pace any larger car then mine like a truck, tractor trailer, or SUV then slow down just slightly. It works very well, it may have saved me many times!!!

I never ever even hear anything about them. On a VERY rare occasion i hear an ad for the valentine radar and that's it. This is probably because most radio stations i get are out of NY, which has it that it's illegal to even have any such device or at least the last i had heard of. For $600's i think i would put it towards something a little more useful (like a down payment toward a supercharger) then possible protection from the policia.

I used to ahve a radar unit that had 3 sensors of front in the grill and one in the rear. Had this big control box that had to be mounted under the dash. Cost around $500 back in 93-94. Totally obsolete now.

Worked great and cops didnt see or hear it when they came up to the car.
I cant count how many I have had ripped off the dash by police saying they were illegal, which here they are not, and keeping them or throwing them into the highway. :angryfire:

Yea, its almost friday!!
We had some major changes at my shop over the last few weeks. Back up to 4 employees and now we're closed sat-sun, but we still work when needed.
We'll still have just as much bussiness, just frees up more weekends, and I kinda need that since my ol' lady is going to be down for 8 more weeks. :uhoh: :runaround:

Radars aren't illegal to have unless you are in NY or VA. Those are the only two state's that had them completely outlawed. however technically they are illegal to use... but you can have them :screwy:. I keep my radar nice and secure above the review mirror... it gets a nice birdseye view of the road ahead and behind... while keeping it level! :grinyes: Plus it's easy to conseal if needed just unplug the cord of the radar and it looks like a cellphone charger!

Xi sounds like the shop is doing well if you are adding on some more employees. There are not to many shops open on the sat or sun anyways. On a rare occasion i'll find one... unless it's a "chain store" Even though you won't be around as much... we"ll be good! :naughty: :evillol:

Well I'm thinking i may need new tires soon... I sort of slid off the road this morning in the G6... :yikes: :disappoin. I was getting on the highway... and as i got onto the ramp... I may have been going a little too fast on the cold wet road... and well Thankfully I stopped before all those little road reflectors on those little metal poles and the street light that i was sliding towards. Oops!! :grinyes: I also don't think it helped that my one tire was very low on air ( 11psi to be exact) and I didn't realize before i went out. I mean hell this guys 23-24 he should have grown out of the childish prank stage by now.

On a side note this awesome tropical storm blew through lastnight.
It woke me up and I looked outside, all I saw was sheets of rain and the wind was around 30-40mph.
Plus thunder and lightning, it was even below 40 degrees out too.... :screwy:

Hoping this global warming cooks up a short & warm winter for me. :grinyes:

have a great week everyone!

Yeah, great scenery last night. I was with my gf watching a movie when the storm came in, and we opened the curtains to my back sliding glass door to the overhang (2nd floor), and watched the lightning go nuts. best lightning show this year imo!

Xi: I can't believe that little punk did that. That's a big no no! :nono: I would have made him put the air back in the tire manually... with a bicycle pump! :grinyes:

Glad you got to see your lady grfnkl!
Long distance relationships are tough.

Yeah I showed him the video the other night and he was like :uhoh: I didnt know you had surveillance.. :D
Then he said my daughter told him to do it, but I didnt ask her about that, though I doubt it.

My other daughter that recently wrecked her Cutlass just bought a Dodge Avenger. Not sure what year she's supposed to bring it by for me to check out.
Must be pretty new , its still under a factory warranty, thats a plus!

lol, bet his face looked interesting when watching the video.... freakin a$$ :p

uhhgg... this job training sucks! lol.. I find myself spacing out more than paying attention... baad

I really hope this job works out.. ( a job with some security sense... ).
I want to save as much money as humanly possible for my GTI (yea still fixed on it =D ) then possibly look into college... Im being told right now to goto local college to do all my basic stuff to get it out of the way.. ugh. From there I'm not sure...

I want to go into automotive tech, Theres TSTC (Texas Sate Technical College) and they offer a good auto tech, easy school to get into... and theres UTI in houston (my brother just grad from there) and they have a very good program from what I've been reading... even a 'street & strip' program as well to where you go into automotive tuning... Even have specific make certifications.. I would like to be Audi/Porshe/VW certified if I could in the tuning field.

oh yea, back to GTI talks... I've been keeping up on the bigger forums about the GTI, what problems they have stock, what available aftermarket parts are out, what turbo kits are 'just..' now coming out after 2 years... and only 1 company has actually went into the engine to upgrade everything... with this bigger turbo kit/engine build they claim 401HP.... pretty good for a 4cyl!

The stock motor is pretty strong :smokin:

So I've wanted a GTO for a long time right... well I think I finally found a car I want MORE than a GTO...

Xi: Yes long distance relationships are tough... even worse when you are getting married. I would take the assumption that your daughter bought a new avenger. They stopped making the old style back in the late 90's...

Gir: Hang in there with the job training... It may suck now but It'll get worse later.. J/K If you can take some classes in community college... go for it! Get them out of the way while you can. Just make sure they are transferrable!

Vipey: A challenger?! Hmmm. Not bad looking. I still think i would rather go with a GTO... but then again i can be swayed by horses and looks.:naughty:

MKIV GTI - 1.8L Turbo
Curb Weight, lbs: 2723
HP: 180 TQ: 174
5-speed manual: 24city/31hwy

http://img340.imageshack.us/img340/5236/706817167d0002c59110efakq6.jpg

Personally, the look of the car is what is drawing me to it... rather than the horsepower. Still, doing research on WTF car to get, so many options. I remembered a friend of mine back in high school (dunno, he had money) had a mustard green MKIV Golf with the VR6 v6 engine, the smaller version of the r32... and I remember behind behind him one day on my way to school and noticed how quick he picked up compaired to me lol, sorta like.. eh wow. PLUS, tint on these cars always looks good along with a set of rims.

compairing it to available modding options with the newer MKV GTI 06+, theres TONS out... 350HP+ turbo build ups with out even touching the engine cept for pistons/rods and thats it.

I have find a good amount of them locally.. all being well under 20k... the highest I've see was almost $18,000 ... and it barley had 19,000 miles!

I think.... I might grab the 4th gen instead lol

Your thoughts?... Discuss!

I like the Challenger, but that GTI...
I'd need a bottle of oil and a shoe horn to get into it!

Oh yeah Gir, any technical schooling is worth it in the end.
Deciding what to do was the hard part for me.

I was just going to be a tech(mechanic) and working my a** off everyday, when I decided to get my service management degree too. Dont regret it for one minute. :D

Tuning is going to be more in demand as more and more electronics are being put on automobiles. Yeah! :grinno:

I like the GTI's they are cool little cars... their stance is just right for a hatchback.. not too round but not too wagon looking. I would be careful on them that something doesn't happen (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qkWaxSztbBg&feature=related) to it.

Yes on that vid it is probably a rare occarance and very amazing that they had a video camera at the time that this all happened. :sly:

Hey I just noticed they moved all the smileys around again

Also I agree with Xi on the schooling thing. Technically school are always good and well paid in the job field ( for the most part) There are days i regret going for graphic design.. and others I dont. I'm considering going back myself for a trade of some sort. I don't know yet on what. I'm also aspiring to have my own business one day. We'll see what happens.

We'll actualy im in school. I've been updating my ase cert. for the Odb II/Can protocal (so I can keep up with everything and hav it on paper) systems.
Sometimes , I think that's all that matters is that stupid piece of paper. It sure doesnt mean you know anything and everything.
Nice thing is I dont hav to leave the house(not yet anyway), online is sweeet! :grinyes:

Well I found out my daughter didnt buy the Avenger yet she's just testing it out for a week. Its a 98 and white. Took it for a spin and its peppy but I dont like the way it steers... :dunno: Less then 50k miles for $6000. I told her to offer them $4k , but not more then $5k, with half down.

TGIF !!!!
It's been the longest week ....
Have a great weekend everyone!

Yes TGIF.... :disappoin I'm starting to get a cold.... and just in time for me to help out at a craft fair tomorrow... oh joy! Well at least for me the week went by fast!

Xi so your daughter is looking at a 98 avenger... not bad. They can be pretty fast. I'm guessing she brought it to you for you to check it out. I can't believe that she has a week with it as a test drive. I've never been given that pleasure.

Yes piece of paper can mean so much to people... just like a $100.00 bill. just a piece of paper, but it can get you places. :iceslolan

Used 4th Gen VW Hatch:
VW Golf 1.8t - $14k-$18k
VW Golf VR6 - $15k-$19k
VW .:R32 - $22k-$26k

Been doing more and more looking, having a 4th gen .:R32 would be pretty flippin sweet... I would just have to stick with the grand am for a bit longer for a bigger down payment... I would really really have to get the payments down for my sort of income... I dont plan on moving out anytime soon (thx mom) untill I have finished college...

Financially I should get the cheapest... I can fit a vr6 in the budget

grfnkl
11-16-2007, 03:03 PM
I would push for the VR6 or the r32 over the 1.8t.... then again the 1.8t isn't bad either... I dunno. I would get what you can afford and what you like.... within reason. And keep those gas prices in mind as they rise up again... :eek7:

ok so I need to blow off some steam.... My manager just informed me that the new General manager got an e-mail that i sent to a client about him. :uhoh: How he got a hold of it I still can't figure this out. It's written in such a way that nothing bad is being said about him... I was very careful when i wrote it just for that reason alone. The only reason why i wrote this e-mail was because the client kept calling me freaking out that this new GM of mine was coming to our facilities and he was worried about his business being compromised. So I prolonged telling him as much as i could... until one day where the GM was trying to call MY client.:eek7: So I sent a quick e-mail out to him stating yes he is here I know he deals with your partner, I liked dealing with you and continue business despite him being here. Apparently somehow he got this.... and now he wants to talk about it to my manager.:sly: The good thing is my manager has known about this situation for awhile and she told me lets prolong as much as we can... SOOO Yeah... Not what i needed to add to my day.

Its been cold enough here to snow at night but got up to the 40's today. You just might get some snow Gir. :grinyes:
I was hoping for another warm spell over my way but I think the heat is gone.

I am going to attempt to make the GTs CAT highflo. :eek7:
Figure I can make the holes larger. Thier is a risk of breaking the catalist and then I'd have to replace it or gut the Cat and deal with the SES light...... I need to order one of those DHPs this week anyway.
In the next couple weeks I'm going to do an EGR delete on the SE, and possibly a CAT delete. :naughty:
I'm thinking I could get a few more HP that way. :ylsuper:
