rear strut is easy to install.. I just sat in my trunk and did it within 45mins... took alot of adjusting, just make sure you dont over tighten or you'll bend the side mounts (woops!)

yeah I laid in my trunk/back seat and did mine, kinda cramped for my long arms. :D Never did make a new one for the front of the SE, I still have the mount plates just my bar bent. :( I think the replacement will be steal!!
I check the SE's crank today, seems like its OK but I'm still going to rebuild this other 3.4 block I have here. Cleaned it up today, looks like I cant go to big without compromising the cylinder walls.
The 3.4's bore and stroke is 3.62 x 3.31, so hoping I can go 3.9 or 4.0 that would be great ! :naughty:

have fun with your list of projects you got there vipey! :grinyes: the trunk strut bar wasn't that bad... worst is getting in there to install. I has some issues getting is to sit all the way down on the strut mounts otherwise no other problems when i did mine. I can't believe how much of a difference they made on my GT when i had them.
Xi: sounds like you got a nice monster project going on there :naughty: ... your gonna have the SE probably at the same horses my 6 puts out. :runaround:

I didnt hav much trouble with the rear strut bar, it was tight when I put the bar in. Speakers were more in the way then anything.
Yea I hope to get more out of this block then a stock G6. :evillol:

dude i should totally get my engine stroked out to something like that with forged internals :D
btw, rear strut bar in! finally found some friggin washers and nuts to fit the bolts, and could barely get the damn strut bar completely on the top! It wasn't fitting all the way so I took my largest socket wrench and just twisted that damn nut until the thing went down, then tightened everything up I could (was one alan wrench too small to completely tighten the side parts of the strut bar), and now it's in! gonna take it for a drive today :)
Also did my reverse lights yesterday... i seriously turned myself into a sandbox because so much dirt was stored up in those things! Accidentally twisted a bolt off with my socket wrench LOL so I used a smaller socket wrench so I didn't get so much torque the next time :p
Today, I woke up and my dad had already made my amp rack... I was like hey that works saves me the trouble of doing it LOL, so we're going to either paint it or carpet it, mount the amps in there, put my sub box in (the sub box AND the strut bar are both 17" high, therefore I can't slide my sub under the strut bar, so I'm going to use conduit brackets and hook the subwoofer to my strut bar hahahaha), and place the amp rack next to it to prevent further sliding, and bolt that to my trunk.
Then I get to install my angel eyes :naughty: I bought some ramps to pull my car up another 8 inches or so, so I can get under my lovely lowered car a bit more. Should be fun figuring out that wiring and running the stupid switch through my firewall!

Congrats vipey on getting the strut bar installed... and brake lights fixed! :iceslolan You'll probably notice the difference when you drive the car especially on turns like a nice winding road. good luck with those ramps though to get under your car. I have a set of ramps and I couldn't get my GT up them and mine wasn't even lowered. It sucked big time!
Xi: well depends on the G6 compared to your block. I alerady know you outdid the 4 banger and the 3.5L. Now you just have to "out do" the 3.9L and the 3.6L, :naughty:
On a side note... my 6 is so sluggish lately. this is what i get for not driving it much anymore and doing more city driving. :frown:

Glad to hear your getting somethings taken care of Vipey.
With those angel eyes, you might be able to use your factory wires. ;)
Check the voltages and see if they are the same, if so try it ! That would be the easiest way to avoid going through the firewall.
And yeah, good luck with the ramps! I have a few sets the shortest being 8" and I cant get the grand ams on them. :angryfire
grfnkl I cant believe the troubles you have with your G6.
Maybe try some premuim fuel and run the DS out of it once in a while, that always helps. :D

I can't complain, the 6 has been pretty good to me. Well I'm about a half tank now with only about 100 miles on the car... so maybe i'll do the premium soon, cause i don't feel like spending over 40 bucks again on gas. I was running the car harder today to break up any crap in the system. It was starting to get perkier later on... plus it pretty much has sat for about 3 or 4 days without much driving until today.

same here with the GA, been feelin sorta sluggish... so I WOT it onto the highway tonight =D ... nice little rush, reminds me that I've done more than I think to it... lately ive been light as a feather with the pedal just saving gas...
tonight I went to a local car meet the next town over, nothin but rich high school kiddos with their parent's money in their car, and not even doing it right!... this one kid had a nice set of rims/tires/lowered, (prelude in red) lots of underglow, even fenderwell glow.. custom trunk layout and some screens in there... lots of extra weight of junk
next to an actual turbo'd nissan there, I was the 2nd fastest car.... the others were a beat up nissan 240, no mods, some rice civics with basics (intake/header/exhaust)... and some fat dudes providing music from their SUV with lights and all...
some of them ive seen before, but all in all.. was a pretty lame meet :uhoh:
the red prelude guy commented on my car... about rearranging the lettering to 'grandma'... I told em, that automatic grandma car would woop his stock 4cycl with just the simple bolt-ons I got. Not much was said afterwards, I talked with a few other people who werent so quickly to judge... but waited there 30mins or so... my girl wanted to go, so we decided to leave

subwoofer mounted to strut bar. amp rack mounted to sub box and trunk. subwoofer mounted to trunk as well i think. angel eyes in (MY GOD were they a f@#$ing pain! was on my back under my car half the day and they are still not wired how i want them to be... they either have to both be on or both be off, GRRRR), and tomorrow I wire up my speakers and mount my last amp into place. Looks great, pics when my cameras don't die and when it doesn't get dark :)
Thank god it's over... my car is finally where it needs to be... for now ;)

hey vipey, how did your guy 'tune' the grand am out after it was acting all weird, or was it just that EGR valve issue?

He used a tuner... plugged it up to my car and played with the fuel ratio a bit I guess :D

Well, does it run better now ??
It realy is hard to "sit" and tune it. It realy needs to be driving or on a dyno so your fuel map is correct through out the driving range.

yeah i agree, he only corrected it to where the air/fuel was running properly. It runs MUCH better now, but it could probably be tuned better. Prolly gotta pay for that tho :naughty:
So yeah, turns out I won't be getting into graduate school, so I'll probably work on the grandma some more rather than buy the wrx :( :( :( :(

"I just went and had it tuned again @ 11psi and made 322.1whp and 362.1wtq, go to my cardomain and see the dyno, search rambizzle"
and heres a laff... some kid with some engine work on a 2.2 ecotec says hes wrapped up about $170k in his 5spd 4cycl GA - http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2119503 - the kiddo has some videos up to.. vs an older 90s v6 mustang, and a eclipse gs .. :uhoh: :screwy:
I'm guessing due to his 'bragging' rights on the page, he pulls a 14.8 at 97mph, my best 1/4 was 14.7 at 99mph, but yet his top speed is 145? I dont think it would even be able to go that fast, and guessing on HP hes around 170-175whp...

Well after some much effort my grand am is finally in a garage! I spent about 2 hours on saturday pushing my aunts corvette slowly back and forth in the garage to move it over about 2 feet. this gave us enough room to get my car in. Well today i went over with the keys Unlocked it filled the tire with air... which promptly went flat again, I attempted to push the car myself but since it was stuck in place, I got the good ol' 6 out. HAHAH  I gave my g/a a few gentle taps and sure enough she began to roll. The biggest problem i had doing this was I had to be extremely careful since the driveway slopes down towards the garage then slopes up into the garage so there is a point where my G/a was higher then the 6. But after some careful menuevering, and a bent front license plate my grand am is now garaged! :grinyes: Now maybe just maybe I can get to working on it a little. :naughty:

Using the G6 to push the Grand Am :eek7: you were lucky you didnt set off the air bag. lol
I saw some folks once using a car with a plastic bumper to push another car and they put a used tire in between the vehicles. Though, it kept falling out when the cars seperated. Running over a tire is rough! :D
Man... I'm still waiting for my headers.. I need to call them and see where they are at.

If i realized the grand am was stuck in place I would have used my fathers vue instead since it has the front grill catch guard thing on it. I was going so slow anyways to prevent any damages or have the air bag go off. when the car was about 75% in the garage I had to use the back of the 6 to get it in at that point I put a thick towel on the grand am and slowly pushed with the back of the 6. If I kept going the other way I would have took out the grilles and bumper and maybe hood too. But in the end not a scratch in the paint or a crease in the bumper :smokin: I've had to push cars a few times in the past with various cars... sometimes it was to get into a parking space others was to move the car since it was inoperable... :iceslolan

Well today I finaly got that 3.4 block cleaned and sprayed with the UV dye, should be dry tonight. Then I'll start checking for hairline cracks. Figured it would be best to go through it before I start millin and drillin and spending time & money on it. :D

yea my 360 :(, I too thought I had that 1-year warranty, but I think its only for the 3 red light-o-death issue.. mine was completely different, although im sure the red lights of death is just around the cornor, it'd make a pop/click noise whenever the video would come on/off... I had the guy note that down also as well, maybe a power surge burnt some resistors or something...
my only advice is to keep that thing well vented, and dust free as best as possible... I keep mine out in the open just right next to my tubeTV, dust free :)
btw, I see that my sig has been edited lol

I keep our 360 pretty clean, I blow it out with some caned air at least once a month .
Another thing is when not in use and plugged in it stil keeps the transformer hot and using power. I shut off my power strip when we're not using it, along with the tv and audio equipment.

I miss my 360 :(, bad lol... I get urges to play... I'd play some PC games but Ive beat mostly all of them lol and/or I've lost intrest in them..
I keep our 360 pretty clean, I blow it out with some caned air at least once a month .
Another thing is when not in use and plugged in it stil keeps the transformer hot and using power. I shut off my power strip when we're not using it, along with the tv and audio equipment.
What was edited from your sig ?

I have yet to see that game in action, how is the wii remote used?...
I'd prob resort back to the gamecube controller for better/quicker game play lol...

Wii remote isn't too bad, you use the nunchuck thing to jump and stuff, and the other one does other things. It's really not too bad, imo ;)

I havnt played the Wii yet, I'm sure my brats will get one before to long. lol
I played Dance Dance Rev. with one of those floor mat controls once, the next day... I thought I broke my back! :uhoh:
I get enough exercise at work, I like my sit down games. :D
I didnt tell you guys this one, had a little race with an Alero.
A few days ago this Alero a 2 dr. was on my tail for a very long time in town, I was in the stockish GT. So as we're coming out of town he attempted to pass me, so I gradualy started speeding up, and up and up. Well at 105 he couldnt go any faster , and I just walked away. :D
Well I slowed way down, and he eventualy caught up, still going 100.
Well then the next day, he comes by my shop and wants to know, "how can he beaf up his Alero 3.4 like mine".
I've had the SE out today, has a miss and idles like crap!
I still need to tune it up since the CKP sensor change, that should clear everything up and have me rolling. Man it was a nice day today !
Hard to believe (http://objsam.files.wordpress.com/2007/10/believe.jpg) this Sunday is Easter, damn leap years! lol

so I mowed the lawn.... Ninja style!
I remember this pic of the (internets).. from long ago and did a quick search for it.. and found it my first try...
I usually have bad bad horrible allergies when I mow the lawn, due to it being..
1) Dead grass anyways
2) windy, stirrs up dust/allergens
3) hot and sucky
http://img113.imageshack.us/img113/5751/ninjaud1.jpg - So I did this :D... Funny thing is.. it worked!, mowed the whole lawn with out having a sneeze, or breathing in dust and w/e else... kept my head shielded from the sun and acted like a sweat band on top of that...
about half way through I was thinking,, man.. theres some rednecks in this neighborhood who would think im from the middle east mowing my lawn lol... mostly I just got "wtf?" stares as cars drove by lol..
dont care though, lawn is nice and cut, my allergies arent bugging me, and Ive already showered lol... A good day it is.. to be a ninja ;) lol

Happy easter everyone! I've already started on eating some of my easter candy... otherwise the day sucked a$$ for me.
The g8 truck is coming... It's based off the Holden Commodor UTE I believe. A lot of people would rather see the G8 Coupe before a pick-up like that. But at least it;s gonna be quick... Sort of El Camino-ish. I don't find the truck that bad, but I don't see the market for it. I did see my first g8 the other day when I was passing the dealer that i bought the 6 from. I wanted to stop and take a look and see what # it was out of the first 888, but I couldn't get over in time on the road to go in and check it out. Maybe tomorrow I'll try to go out there.
Gir: mowing lawns already! Jeez thats gotta suck. I shouldn't talk... I've already started on some yard work last week.... even though it was a little chilly out still.

Sooo this happened today... Little more serious post than normal, but still 'off-topic' heh
---
So my sister (16yrs) and my mother (40 something) decide that my sister needs to mow the backyard (ive done the front), plus... she wants to. My only real complaint of not doing it myself was because of all the dog poo in the backyard that needed to be picked up in the first place... (my sister's dog is a lab, enough to make a small poo mountain, I would assume she'd clean her doggy's mess)
Anyways, few basics I would assume in general of lawn care etiquette , wear jeans & pick up all the items in the yard (poo included for this situation, or it'll fling like a money :( )
Needs to be cut as we got these random tall grass spurts or w/e (6-7inches)... that came from some heavy rains
So my sister gets the mower from the garage (not even ours btw, my gf's dads mower), drags it to the backyard and sorta knows how to do it, but not really... I told her to go put jeans on or I wont start it, she insisted that she would be fine.
Since she doesnt like to argue with me, she still goes to mom to "B*tch".. told my mother the same thing, ( "I wont start it till she has some jeans on at least & and has at least looked through the grass for anything that might be hiding {dog toys, bones, etc...}"). Well, in a house where its always 2 vs 1. She ended up to start mowing with no jeans.
End result, she took off a baby rabbit's face (tiny rabbit hole, happy easter right? :uhoh: ) and then later got a stick to fling out and stab her leg (she cried, good amount of blood, but nothing serious).... killing the mower both times
need I say more?
wtf gives! :screwy: :runaround:
I later washed the blade off, all the built up grass on the inside and noticed the blade has a pretty big dent in it from the rabbit. (stained&fur).
Main thing is, they didnt listen to "Good" advice... and my Gf's dad's mower now has a big dent in the blade because of it :banghead:
---
I posted this exact same post on another forum, first response I got..
His: "You expect a young woman to listen to advice?"
Mine: not just that... both young and old didnt seem to care, surprising I think
He later replied,
His: "Nvm, let me correct that... 'You expect a woman to listen to advice?'"
:cwm27:
But yea, poor bunny was disposed of, and the others (survivors in the hole) were left alone for the mother rabbit to deal with since their hole was mowed over and no more high grass protection...
I just kinda shrugged when they asked me to help.... "Told ya so... :shakehead "

Poor bunny...hopefully the mother rabbit doesn't kill the rest of the litter of bunnies. that happened at my sisters, one of the baby bunnies was killed and I guess our "people" scent got too close to the rest of the litter when we cleaned it up and the mother killed them all. :disappoin I can say that thankfully we don't have a dog anymore so i don't have to deal with any messes to clean up in order to mow the lawn... and my aunts house.. well she lives on a hill and the dog goes on the hill so it sort of rolls down where i don't cut so it's all good. :grinyes:
I haven't seen hitman yet... but i did see I am Legend the other day with my future brother in law. I will say that it wasn't bad, it kept my attention throughout the movie which was good, the ending was a bit abrupt IMO but then again it leave room for more later on. :2cents:

Well today I start working on my 88 grand am. I got the accelerator fixed which oddly enough it wasn't even broken like i thought. Apparently it came a little loose causing my problem. I didn't get to the brakes like i wanted to. I have a little problem, I can't seem to break the wheel bolts loose on the one tire, and the tire kept spinning on me everytime i tried. :banghead: The tire is flat on top of that on that making it easy to spin... I put some bolt loosening oil on them lets see what happens. I already took off the entire rear taillight panel to start with the cleaning up of the car.

08 Cobalt SS - is now TURBOCHARGED! (http://www.chevrolet.com/cobalt/ssturbocharged/)
* Turbocharged, direct-injected, dual overhead cam, ECOTEC 260–hp 2.0L I–4 engine with Variable Valve Timing (VVT) is the most powerful in its class(1)
* High–flow performance induction and exhaust
* Five–speed manual transmission with short-throw shifter
* "Zero–Lift" shifting
* Available limited slip differential
- 23/30 MPG
- 160 MPH top speed
- 5.7 0-60
- under 3000lbs
- GM stage kits available
--
Zero-Lift shifting means, that you can hold down the throttle and then press the clutch -> shift and still keep going with the throttle, the computer will decide what a good RPM will be to shift at, then boom, you're still going
--

States the following: Shortcomings? The F35 five-speed isn't as fluid or precise as others in the segment, namely the Civic Si's. The electric power steering is linear but lacks the tactility of, say, a Mazdaspeed 3's. The interior, with its hard plastic accoutrements, still screams econocar, despite new seats with UltraLux suedelike inserts. And there's some torque steer, even with GM's best trickery with electronics and suspension geometry.

When is GM going to learn they need to make some real cars with real power and fuel economy.
Zero-Lift shifting .... I've been doing that for years in manuals. Never let off the gas!

Anyways I never heard of myyearbook. Huh. I definetly wouldn't mind getting into more the interenet world of business. I started the process of creating my own business awhile ago ( internet based web and graphic design) but it kind of got put on hold due to financial issues. Hopefully soon I can get back on track with that and get everything up and running.
I saw my first G8 the other day up close! I definetly like the front end and the interior is pretty nice. The back is OK... The sticker price is :runaround: Not for 32K, I'm not picking one up!

Hey if I get new Powerslot rotors for my car, what brake pads should I get? And what else do I need to get to make my brakes work?

I think power slot recomends cermaic type pads, other wise you will eat threw your rotors faster. Not good when they are expensive.
Best to clean off all that old grease from the slide pins, and replace with new brake grease.
I'd also make sure the rubber boots on the slide pins dont have holes/tears in them, I think these all come with the caliper clip/boot repair kits. 1 kit is for two wheels. ;)
Some thing I am getting ready to do is buy some steal braided brake hoses, which helps maintain high brake pressure.
The old factory hoses tend to "blimp" up and you loose a little pressure to the brakes, not good IMO. :grinno:
PFYC and Napa sell them for the grand am! :naughty:

So if I completely redo my brakes, Iwant the powerslot rotors, ceramic brake pads, fix up the slide pins, and get steel braided cables?
