With the bad weather here in the midwest, I was just now got to cut off the bad section of the brake lines. Had to play hookie from work again, and had to burn yet another vacation day.:banghead:

Yeah Vipey I heard this earlier its in the garage(concrte walls:)) alone with my other driveables... I have more room recently. lol

WOW!!! Tornado BARELY MISSED US!!! I have pics of the extremely dark sky as it approached us... holy crap was that freaky! I couldn't see to the west because I drove to campus because my 2nd story apartment is a bad place to be LOL... so I was in Purdue's Union and was looking West at Stewart Center, when the winds started picking up... the sky was pitch black... clouds were rotating, strong updrafts and downdrafts, then all of a sudden the air in the building started rushing outside, the wind picked up tremendously, and I bee-lined for the basement... 70 mph wind gusts! Tornado JUST missed and went through Battlegrounds, with confirmed reports.

I was at the Union when a large group of people from the Methodist something organizaiton were around, so I had this army of people staring at my laptop with high-def radar during the tornado, asking me questions. I told them I was a Meteorologists (since I have my degree now!) and they started following me going OMG he's the guy to follow yay!!! So I had my 15 minutes of fame there... it was so much fun and freaky and stuff... power is out and tree branches are down, so I'm still on campus so that I actually have power haha!

God that was so awesome, I love mother nature sometimes!

Yeah Vipey I had 58 mph winds before dark, and some 60 mph later. I heard that the battle grounds was hit pretty hard.
I wasnt sure if you were home, or still in W Lafeyette be carefull thier's still more storms rolling throu this area I'm checkin the weather map right now.. !! :eek:

yeah battlegrounds is only a few minutes away... god it was freaky!

Tornados! What have i missed? I keep hearing people talking about some bad weather but i have no clue where they are talking about. It was sunny and warm here for the last few days. For us tornadoes are quite rare. We did have one back in 1999, the was pretty wicked I was in a mall when it was going on. The twister touched down in my town right in front of town hall on the road. It went down the street and bent all the flag poles like twigs. The only other one i experienced was in maryland back in 2002. I was staying at my sisters some bad storms were coming through I didn't know the extent at the time. I went on the front porch suddenly I started getting a creepy chill the wind start whipping like crazy, i looked up and there was a funnel forming pretty much right above me, then the lightning struck a tree right at the end of the street. I couldn't get inside fast enough. :grinno:

Yeah that would scare the crap out of me too lol... my friend saw the funnel spinning overhead while on the phone with me... I've never heard him so freaked out/excited before... he was like "oh man dude, the funnel is forming like RIGHT OVER MY APARTMENT... it's looking like it wants to touch down, and it's heading east straight for campus, directly towards you!" I was like oh sh@# and headed outside to look LOL! Then in the basement when the wind started doing weeeeird things...

All this talk of tornadoes, and now we are under a tornado watch here! :eek7: I guess you guys sent it my direction!!! About 2 hours ago we had some nasty thunderstorms. The streets started flooding, it was crazy. Shortly after the end my girl calls and I tell her about the bad storms. So she logs in to her weather sites, then next thing i know she say HOLY CRAP, you're under a tornado watch! Then she's calling all her family.. meanwhile I'm on the phone listening her tell her family about this watch.

Actually yes it is! It was better when she lived around here though cuz then i would get all the up to date weather forecasts. Now I hear more about PR then anything else.

I had several trees down from the wind, top speed for the night was 68 mph. I expected it to be more violent from what it done in Illinois, they had a few funnel clouds.
Spent 2-3hrs cutting up trees, it was to nice out today to spend it all working of stuff .

The weather here in Chicago was great today. That is how I was able to repair the brake lines on the car today.

On the other side of town, there was power lines down and the cable was also ripped down too. Several trees took out the lines. Nothing happened around the house.

Looks like its that time of year for nasty storms. :(

I seen the news a minute ago and they said they thought a tornadoe touched down in Edinburgh-Columbus area, broke some gas pumps off thier stands and spewed out some gas.

I better get me a new chainsaw, might come in handy. :grinyes:

Well Cincinnati got hammered!!! Lost count of how many tornado warnings we went through. . . Definately got tired of watching the weather men pop up during all the good shows!

My father was telling me today that their new house, the area was under a Tornado watch today! That would suck if it suffered some damage both they even moved in!

My sonoma has been on the east side of the house, so hopefully the hail dont make it look like a golf ball. :(

ps- these dont scare me much any more, I've seen or been in over 100 tornadoes in my 38 years.

The storms just rolled through here and are heading east. We are under a severe thunder storm warning and a flood watch. A lot of lighting strikes very very close. But fortunately no house hits and no power outages.

Round two, I have been home for about 2hrs, this storm is heading east towards Rensselaer. The Sat TV is out again, no signal. The bad part was missed the 8 minutes of the Detroit game, but was able to at least listen to the last few minutes.

Was without power here for almost 40 hours here in Cinci! If you are east of there it would be wise to batten down the hatches and get ready!!!

I am west of Cinci, the weather is saying that we are going to get hammered again, some time on Fridy. I am south of Chicago.

Not again!!!! We are supposed to get more storms here on Saturday so it is probably the same one!!! Hopefully it will be nothing like the last batch!

I didnt have any damages realy jsut limbs that blew off trees, one large tree fell acrossed my longa$$ drive.

I did replace a couple car windows this week from something smashing through them, and a little water damage inside. Luckily its been realy hot here and things dried out rather quickly.

I did get over 6" of rain this week, I did hear thier was supposed to be more this weekend , i hope it fisles out too.

I never loose power, unless its been dark and cloudy for a couple days. :naughty:

most intense week of my life, with interviews, tornadoes, severe thunderstorms, completely re-evaluating my life and what I want to do for a living, and my girlfriend under pressure from her parents over me. At least the storms will be ending and I can sleep peacefully for a night lol :)

Just lost power here. The estimate for the power to be restored is some time after 8:30.
It is now 11:41 and the power co ha no clue has to when the power will be restored. Well the power came on some where around 6:30 AM.

If any one wants to see all the damage that the storms caused in the south sububarbs of Chicago go to myfoxchicago dot com. They have a lot of footage showing damge by a tornado touch down, it was real close to my house.

Here we go again. The storms are on top of us again.

yeah what long strange week(end) its been... All my neighbors power was out off and on over the last 3 days. I guess it was out all the way to W. Laffeyette and further south, over 80,000 customers with out power. Mine was good to go. :D

I ended up running down to just north of columbus,a friends house was getting ready to be water front property so I helpd them move thier stuff to a new dry place in Indy.
I got over 10" of rain this weekend, hope the rain stays away for a while, thiers new ponds everywhere down south major flooding !

have a dry week ! lol

Got hit again today, the wife said that the lights were out when she got up today. The lights we going on and off all afternoon.

Today's my first day at my new job... I got up at 5:30 after getting only 3 hours of sleep due to a terrible cold, and I have to be there by 8 for training for 6 hours. Plus it's a 35 min drive either way. I can barely stand because I'm so tired and weak from the cold. Today will be torture :(

I'll take a shot in the dark and say it is bottled water!

Evian, Perrier, for example, any bottled water. Why pay for something that is free. I have well water here at my house. Wife says that is makes the best coffee. I personally drink coffee so I can't tell you.

water we have here is HORRIBLE. Water we have back at home... even worse. The water back at home tastes like sulfer... straight from the well. It's terrible, so we have a filter... but for convenience I buy bottled water. It's easier to cart around and tastes like nothing, which is how water should be.

Didn't buy bottled water until my filter here broke though... ugh.

Originally our well water had a sulfur taste, but put two charcoal filters in line to the fridge and now the water has a neutral taste.
