I hope everyone had a great Christmas, or whatever holiday you may celebrate... Hopefully though everyone was good enough for Santa to bring them some nice presents. I got a new radar detector for my car... from my G/f.... which so happen to be my fiance now since i proposed to her on christmas!!
Xi: aren't those icicle lights supposed to be hung outside for that "icicle" effect. LOL. You got alot of presents under that tree though, share the christmas spirt over here and send some nice gifts east to me! LMAO!
I still have a few more christmas's to go through with family yet... such as my sisters which are coming in this week as well as aunt and grandmother... all of them yet too! This is going to be one long week!
Well I'm off to looking like i'm working, when i won't be... HAHAHAHAH
Hey what's the diffence in these two smileys? :grinyes: vs :iceslolan Just color? WTH?
Later everyone!

grfnkl,
yes those icicles go outside(have them around the house) but thier was extras and the kids were all jolly/hell bent on hanging all of them .... Kids!
I would if I could throw them your way, because they are now in my way with all those packing matterials :banghead:
Remember though I have 6kids and a few of those were other members of the family(grandma/pa, aunts/uncles etc etc). I put some miles on the GT this weekend, doing all my running up and down the state :D
On those smileys the :grinyes: moves his whole head, the other iceso whatever moves his top jaw(ya smileys have top jaws too ).

my xmas was alright I guess... got some socks, boxers, pajama pants to keep warm and $150. Didnt see any family and worked on xmas day :shakehead Felt like another day in the year just everything was closed meh...
My xmas this year honestly was kinda bland, all the gifts above were just from my mother which I thanked her. Sorta hoping for late xmas money thru the mail if anything...
I spent about $300 or more on gifts though(now im broke), guess giving & the thought is where it counts... :dunno:
bah-humbug

Finally logged into AF! WoHoO!
gir: it is the season for giving.... even though it feels like you give more then you get but it's just the way it goes sometimes. as long as you get the stuff you need first that's what counts... Like i got dress pants and shirts for work.... not something i really wanted but i needed so it was all good. got a couple movies, my radar, a sweater, and a gift card to best buy. It sucks thought that you had to work. Only once i had to work on christmas... and i said i would never do it again!
xi: that's right i forgot you had 6 kids. do they all still live at your house or are some older and moved out? I know what that can be like though around the tree I'm 1 of 4, and when it came to christmas you couldn;t walk though our living room. then when relatives came it got even worse! Now it has reversed though, everything goes towards the "grandkids" so i'm left out a little now.

I dont even want to talk about "how much money" I spent on christmas :shakehead (boatloads)
I got the usual jeans/socks/CDs/DVDs, and some gift cards from NAPA and these wierd Vise gift cards, which I havnt seen before...
I got what I needed though I really did need anything.
One can never have to many socks :D
grfnkl, my oldest two daughters(20) live out of the house but are home frequently, but I dont mind.
The other 4 keep my ass bussy as hell
Then I have the 2 14yr old boys and a boy & girl that will be 10 in Feb. :banghead: (i know, what was I thinking)
Hey Gir, I know what you mean about working holidays.
I miss the food more then the social interactions.
Nice power suply thier, a little pricey though.
I like the low noise level , and I just saw those new cables the other day.
Looks better with the wires all attached to one another and allows for better air flow.
I'm thinking about building me a new P4 with the water cooler thingy and little of no fans. The less moving parts the better :grinyes:
I'm running my ati 9800pro in a P3  how gay is that!
I am not into paying that premium price for the new stuff that comes out every month. The last time I looked front bus speeds were only around 500 mhz, I think now they are Way higher , in the 1000's. :dunno:
At least you get New Years weekend off. I'm just taking sun-mon off, then back to the grind :headshake
enjoy the Global Warming !
FYI -- I have been having troubles with the site too :(
Very sloooooow!

Hey guys, Its been forever sence I have been here...and just to let you know, it might be my last post. I crashed my Grand Am a while ago and now Im driving a Buick Regal GS. I actually was hurt a little from it but made a full recovery and am fine. None of you proly remember me at all, but I got on this forum before I even got my license. Me, Dan (cant remember his screen name) and Ride used to talk alot. I dont even think they are around anymore but now that I have joined a new sport (PWC - so called "Jet-Ski") I have taken all my time by workin on them. It brought down my excitment with cars when I crashed it. I grew up around boats and PWCs so Im having alot of fun and meeting some great people doing it. I still have that need for speed but now I get that need from being the fastes on the water. I want to wish you guys luck in the future and have a good one!...

I guess I will post again. Actually got 2nd degree burn on my right arm from the air bag and a permanant scar to show for it too. My face went numb for a while and the car was totaled.
And with the water thing...going 60+ MPH on flat water and getting tossed from my ski (my hull is natorious for that) many feet into the air and hitting the water doesnt feel to good....just to let you know, lol.
Now my ex-girlfriend has the GA and she ended up rolling it going 60 and all that happened to it was a busted fog light and her side mirrors broke....no dents. I just dont get it.

Thanks you guys. Yea, I dont get it eaither. She rolled it and ended up on her side and she had to call some people to roll her over. I happened to be one of them and I looked at it and I thought It was done for....It was dark out and I couldnt see anything. We rolled it back over and I drove it out of the ditch for her. This happened out in the country on a gravel road so no one else was there but us.

Well IMP the 3.1 and the 3.3 are a damn goood engine !!!
They are 90 deg V6, which the 3.4 is a 60 deg.
That is how they put the overhead vavles in the newr head design.
The 3.8 are nice too though , it wouldnt fit very well into a GA and would need alot of work to make it work.
GS's are nice rides :grinyes:
Not as nice as say....... a 69'-70' Buick GS's :naughty:

Cody, I am assuming your 95 Grand Am has the 4T60-E trans in it. This trans will work fine with a 3800 Series II (n/a or SC) engine, and you can use a 1995 OBD-1 computer (less wiring than 96-up OBD-2). Being able to use the stock trans that is already in your car means you won't have to worry about axles and transmission mounts, but you will still need to custom fabricate engine mounts and the exhaust, as well as the wiring. I can help answer any questions you may have as best I can do on here, but I am pretty busy at the shop right now so I may not be able to get back to you right away.
-ryan
Oh, yes, I know. The GAs are nice ridin and my car must ride crap cuz I dont have a 69-70 GS.....A 95. lol

Happy New year everyone! Hope everyone had a good New Years... without the major headache afterwards... LOL.
Grandam: that's not bad at all... I looks like mostly some body work needed. It could have been a lot worse. I had a friend of mine roll a Plymoth Acclaim, walked away with a sore thumb, and the car was still fixable afterwards...just a new fender, bumper and driveside window ( which was broken afterwards so she could get out)... but they didn't fix it. The car she hit though... Jeez.... that' was a totalled mess. Driverside door of a toyota celica was pushed in up to the driveside seat!
I do remember your project G/A, with the 3800 SC. It would ahve been nice if you could have gotten that done... oh well.

Good luck, with savin for a GTO.... just keep in mind of those pesky student loans you have to pay after college if you took any out! I'm still paying mine off... but then again I've been out for almost 4 years now.. :frown:.
Alright I need to vent about things right now.. and this is the off topic so what better place...
I don't know if anyone has had this happen to them before ( i'm sure most of you haven't or at least not exactly) Anyways, My job is pretty crappy, i know that, actually all the people who work here know that, but it never really effected me directly... things here and there may effect me but nothing really big UNTIL about yesterday... that's when everything got flipped onto me. One of our employee';s quit here ( even though mgnt was gonna let that person go anyways for mgnt own negligence) the person beat them out and left before they could. So they left yesterday... now all of that persons work is being put on me and expected to be done... Fine and all if i had any clue on how things are completely done.. I'm still a rookie in learning process. PLus i have to find files that i have no clue what to look for etc. PLUS they don't want to give me more money for this!( they still owe me my raise from 2 months ago) so knowing all of this I immediately started looking for a new job... but market seems very very slow right now. On top of all of this... I'm paying some pretty expensive bills, trying to save and plan a wedding, and trying to get my own place.. Yeah so I'm a bit screwed. Now i have to be very careful around work, since now certain managers expect me to do more ( since they are too lazy themselves) I'm put in a bad position cuz then i could be next to lose my job, not like my job hasn't been questioned for the past 2 months anyways.... Fair? I think not! :disappoin
I just needed to get that out to someone else... cuz my friends, family, and certain co-workers have heard enough about this, and probably don't want to hear it again.
Thank you guys for listening ( reading) LOL

Myself, I am saving for a TA or a GTO.
I drove an 06' GTO auto, it was OK.
I'd rather have the 6spd(i'm a gear head) in either one.
grfnkl, look at it this way.... If they let you go who will do the jobs you are suposed to do? Someone new, who'll need trained, etc etc. I'd just do what you gotta do till something better comes along.
This time of year Everyones looking for work. I know 5-6 people right now out of work and none of them know shit about cars or I'd give them a shot.
Remember, it is easier to get a job with a job
Hang in thier! :ylsuper:
Those loans can screw you in the future with cradit and stuff.

Yeah student loans do suck... and so do car payments at the same time! I did the same thing you did XI, I was workin 3 jobs with full time school, and a senior thesis which consisted of a art show that we had to set up and do completely ourselves... and for me well i decided that wasn't enough at that time, had my g/f, plus decided to wreck the g/a into that pole :screwy:( money out of my pocket for expenses that insurance wouldn't pay) Yeah it took me another 2 years before i got out of that horrible financial mess! :shakehead
at this point XI, I don't care if they do let me go.... I'll collect unemployment for awhile then get another job! It's getting worse and worse by the day... BUT hey what are ya gonna do! I'm starting the whole looking process anyways... just have to figure out what i want to do... I do know people out of work as well.. but that's cuz they are lazy.... Me i just can't afford the cut in pay if i do find another job. But i will hang in there until something new comes along... even if i was only seconds away from telling off the owner about 5 minutes ago! :naughty:

Jobs are hard to come by, especially the good ones with great benifits.
Healthcare alone can bankrupt a person these days.
Its Ridiculous :shakehead
Good Hunting on the new job though.
Are thier any galleries around that you could work at?
Since I knew you studied art, thought you might like doing a job you enjoy rather then one out of necessity.
I know it helps, I love my job

XI: good jobs are hard to come by! As far as an art gallery goes... It's not really for me, i was never into the art gallery scene. The art galleries around here don't all pay that well, unless you work at one of the larger ones in NYC, like MoMA, the Met, etc. I'm not a big fan of NYC, so i wouldn't want to work there as well. I'm too damn picky! LOL! I started applying yesterday to a few hotels in the area as a temporary thing, we'll see if anything comes from it or not. Plus a coworker and I are working on starting up our own "internet" graphic business, She's does web, and I do Graphics so why not combine and see if anything can come from it?!!! I'll keep you guys posted on that though.
Grandam: Keep savin that money.. your gonna need it down the road! I had more then that saved, and i was blowing through it faster then i could save it! then again cost of living around here isn't cheap!
One final comment from me... I have to say that i like this forum SOOOOOO much better then any other forum I belong to such as towards the G6. I'm constantly getting PM's and messages on the rules and guidelines... which I'm following or so i thought about things I'm doing wrong! :slap: I don't get it... and don't really want to anymore!:dunno: So I will say this with absolute truth, The A/F forums are my home away from work and home life! :naughty: LOL!

quickie problem, friend's ford taurus not blowing out any hot air, coolant level is fine, has trouble keeping pressure though, its leaking near the cap but not to terrible, because its more upper, only when theres pressure and/or fluid swishing around when driving is it able to escape out of the top... Hoses are old, and probly breaking down from the inside.
I think it could be the heater core, before it worked somewhat ok, never toasty though... it went to straight cold air, then sorta worked one night... but since then it hasnt been working...
My guess is the heater core, and/or maybe a clog (no idea when it was last flushed)
I told her to just watch the engine temp, making sure it doesnt get to high...

On my street though it's Ford Taurus Heaven! 3 people have them on my half of the stree alone! The other half has the Taurus sister car the Sable with another 3 of them. On a side note here, I meant to bring it up earlier but forgot.

Only reads up to 100mph though :(

Well i have some good news from my part, I applied to a job on monday and got a call back for an interview ON MONDAY! So my interview is tomorrow, it's another hotel just much better in every aspect! Further from home though so more of a commute for me :disappoin, but hopefully the pay is better, i know the benefits are already! Traffic will be very bad for me if I get it, since i will have to contend with Rutgers University traffic since it's right in the middle between 3 Rutgers campuses! I let you guys know how it goes tomorrow.

Yeah the lower the rpms the better the mileage. that's probably why i got good mileage on the g/a since that damn thing always idled down, to about 1200-1500 almost at any speed i was driving and stayed there. It wouldn't really pass 2200rpm while accelerating Unless i was WOT it, any higher then 3000 rpm the car sounds like a sick vacuum cleaner. RRrrrRRRRrrrrRRRRrrrr.. :shakehead
On the G6, it goes up to 2500 just to shift alone, and if i push it i can red line it through each shift but by 2nd gear you are already doing close to 70 before i even get into 3rd or 4th. :grinyes:
