grab a universal HKS fuel pump from AAS and boost up ur fuel pressure, next get bigger 36lbs injectors from MMS and then go ahead and grab that adjustable fuel pressure kit pfyc.com might have and rig up a gauge for the pressure, make it all customizable lol, waste some gas in the process

if you can, find some steel braided fuel lines that look all pretty and wont bust over stock lol :naughty:

thinking I might just add an eaton M90 and be done with my grand am as far as performance lol... maybe some cheap things here and there, but i dont relaly know what I want to do with my money anymore. Might just save. Who knows. I change my mind like every 5 min lol.

Raising the FP isnt no big deal untill you run more HP or boost.
The unused fuel will just run back into the tank.
Probly keep you lines clean'r :D

I dont think FP will ever get high enough to burst a fuel line but they do look good with braided lines.

I've been looking for some braided brake lines.
Any one see those any where ?

I thought I saw them at napa... but cant remember..... :uhoh:

Should aid in stopping and thats a good thing ;)

hey xi, is there any sort of service of having an engine fully taken apart and rebuilt/replaced, anything broken or worn inside the engine?

I wouldnt mind doing this locally when I do have my stageI upgrade parts from MMS, just take it all apart and completely rebuild it anything damaged or worn lol as well new gaskets and such

Im sure it could get pretty pricey =/

We had this done on my 88 when the computer went bad. The dealer pulled the engine cleaned it out entirely and fixed anything worn inside the engine. plus put a new computer in, a complete engine overhaul. It cost a quite a few pennies though! Labor is what gets you on all of this. The car drove great after that! Still drives great to this day! I'm sure the dealer could do this or maybe some local garages as well. Your would have to get price quotes to see how much it would cost.

xeroinfinity
06-06-2007, 06:51 PM
Definitely get "quotes" ! more then one too.

It would probly be close to $2k and thats if everythings in good shape.
If your cylinders need bored , or any thing else is worn bad, might be up to $3000+.
It is the labor that kills for crap like this.

I would probably do something like this as well if someone would give me a good price to overhaul my engine and tune it up nicely! My 88 I think costed around 900-1200 to overhaul the engine and put a new computer in. This was way back in 1996?!? I would do this either to my 6 or my 88. Even though i know my 88 probably couldn't handle the extra horses.

forced induction should be the very last thing on your list lol :screwy:

with out a good base or foundation that m90 or RSM SC is pointless on mostly stock low-end and your gains wont be nearly as amazing...

learning from my GA, and im sure it applies to any car that you tune and upgrade... start small, in the end it'll pay off... UNLESS... lol  you have the money to completely rebuild a engine and stage build everything at ONCE and have it tuned lol.. then ur just a showoff haha

I would love to do that with the g6 gxp comin out, get specs on the GXP.R ... swap in a LS2 gto engine :grinno:

Pirates 3, good movie... just very long!

Yesterday I took a trip down to Atlantic City, nice little 2 hour ride....Gambled a little... gave my money to Donald trump or who ever owns Caesars Place. After loosing close to 50 bucks in less then an hour I said No more! I walked away while i could otherwise 50 would have turned into 100 then so on.... It was an awesome day to be down there though. The weather was perfect, cuz after loosing my money I went to the beach!

Well enjoy your sunday everyone.

Maybe Xi is right... is that grey goose getting to ya? HAHAH. I'm not one to help out with stomach problems, due to my lovely family background. the only suggestion I can make that "may" help is eat some yogurt. It's helped me tremdously with all my stomach problems. You may have an imbalance or possible a "bug" Dont let it go too long cuz that's when you find out it's more serious.

Xi: sounds like that tranny is working well! If you only came up with this much much sooner! So what's the chance of you getting a G6 and playing around with one of them?? they have a 6 speed... in the rolex races they have that ls2 6.0L gto engine in there in the g6 gxp... not only is that a plus for the g6 power but you can also supercharge a ls2, buy headers, do exhaust, do headwork and cams.... its a lightweight GTO! lol that can get even lighter! lol... thats just amazing

One of the towns near me has a charger police car... maybe a few others. The one that I saw is heavily modded cause you heard it and felt it as it drove by. Definetly wouldn't want to mess around with it! :shakehead Well let me rephrase that I wouldn't want to be in another car messing around with the charger... Being behind the wheel.... well that;s another story!!! :grinyes: :naughty:

Trans am or a gto would be cheaper then modding a G6 or Grand am, or many other cars. It depends on how far you are willing to go. I wouldn't mind having a GXP G6 or even a nicely modded G/a GT1 "SC/T" The price for eveything is what gets me! Not only buying the car with the mods ( or putting them on) the insurance, and the gas! Then you have me who would get super paranoid when anyone even looks at the car wrong thinking they are gonna steal it..... runaround ( this is what i get for living where i do)

Oh yeah, my legend lives on... the G6 almost got destroyed for some stupid ass driving to fast and close, that spunout 8 times across the highway and yep you guessed it heading right towards me, while i was besides a tractor trailer.... Then when the guy somehow did not hit anyone AMAZINGLY... he flys down the road to barely stop before me LAUGHING ABOUT IT! I swear if i wasn't in the middle of the ghetto... someone may have gotten it ( I was a little out numbered) Did someone not tell me that they glued a magnet to my back or something or does it say "hit me" on my car.. Maybe it's my license plates... there must be some curse on them..

Upon reviewing some pics of my car, I may have found out why I'm always a target.... Something you never see in person... just like ghosts... you may get a pic... but rarely do you see in person.

So yeah I was driving on 65 towards Crown Point, and I was almost to Renssalaer (went past your city Xero!), and I go to pass a semi, and some asshole in an Acura decides to get like a centimeter from my bumper because I was slowing him down or some shit (oh no not a 2 mph decrease in speed!) while passing the semi. So I tap my brakes to make him agigated, and he decides that it's a good time to race or something...

So I pull into the right lane and I was just going to drive normally, but at this point I'm going 70ish already, so he starts to gun it so I'm like LOL import slaughter time!

Well I gun it, turn my AC and traction control off while holding the accelerator (dangerous! AC needed off tho lol), meanwhile my cop detector, GPS, and ungodly powerful stereo are going... and so when I hit the gas I stall his advance and we're just about neck and neck... going going going... he's like right at my rear left wheel the whole time right in my blind spot so I can't really tell if he's gaining but it didn't seem he was... and finally before I knew it my governor kicked in and my car started slowing as he passed me :( God damned governor!!!! Learned for a second time I can go 110ish tho :p

But yeah, I found out it's an Acura TL... which looked alright but I figured it was probably a pretty fast 4 banger to keep up with me. I looked on a website just now and it says they do the quarter in the high 14's and this particular one should have been about as fast as a GTP or so... 1-60 in the mid 6's or high 6's, where my car is like what? 7 or 8? I have no idea why he couldn't pass me unless he was just toying with me, but I still call it really close :)

Then I pwned a sunfire that tried the same bull. I won and thought it was hilarious cause it was some guy driving trying to show off to his gf  Yeah, try doing it in a car with balls first ;)

K that's all hehe

U mean 62mm? If it's 60 I'd probably get it bored out to 62 heheheheh :) I'll take teh PCM tho :p

Like I said tho, my PCM is going to be fooking crazy to replace as I have to disconnect my audio system ENTIRELY (meaning literally cutting a 4 gauge wire and re-soldering it, which I don't have a good enough soldering tool for), as well as remove my car alarm brain which is ALSO a pain in the ass... sooo many wires! AND that's just so I can read my damn number to order a PCM! Garrr... but yeah since it's only like 100 bucks I'll do it... once I can pull the damn thing out far enough to read the stupid number :disappoin

It would have been really close... seriously like I said I have no idea how we were neck and neck, he should have beaten me. I didnt turn my AC off until halfway through so it was probably still drawing power, but still... I wanted to pwn him :(

At the end of the summer I'm either getting engine parts or saving for a new car (prolly a subie WRX for teh AWD prawnzorness... but I was looking at 300zx twin turbos from the early 90's too and they look suhhhweeeet!).:licka:

yea 62mm lol my bad,

the pcm gets programmed with ur VIN I believe... so when you first do the install and security learn it doesnt freak prob

PROBLEM!
My car is wanting to die, symptoms follow

whine noise from gas tank area, (not as loud as a pump would be)
Car is sputtering and not getting proper fuel, running rich here and there to compensate basically... feels like mis-fire but its not getting the fuel it needs... when it does I go leaaan for a long time then Rich.................. then it freaks out

I was leaving a place for a job interview and the car died, on the way there I noticed a LOUD whine noise and thought it'd be the fuel pump. Bought a pump, installed it myself inside the gas tank, took the whole thing out and did everything, sealed the C clamp on the top of the new pump, all new lines put back up... No gas leaking.

after replacing the pump w/ a new one, theres a small whine noise now in the same area... my kwik kar guy suggested maybe the evap or something that might be on the tank.

ideas?

Gir, have you changed your fuel filter ??

Check the hose clamps under the rear by the tank.
Could have one loose enough to make noise like that.

p0300, could be just from a back fire when you start it up.
Thats typical on my GT lately since its 90+ degrees out :bloated:
Check you plug wires too, one of those could be loose causing your misfire(s). If its not trippin the SES light I wouldnt worry about it to much, just run more injection cleaners through it

Vipey, your belts should be lined up, unless your belt tensioner is bad or loose(what is it with things being loose today). Check it out while its running.

btw what kinda noises are you hearing ?

grfnkl, Evap codes already :uhoh:
I'd think about trading it in bro, sounds like you have the same problems as the GA's did :disappoin

On a Side Note, I'm goin to the Indy F1 sunday :evillol: :ylsuper:

Gir, have you changed your fuel filter ??

Check the hose clamps under the rear by the tank.
Could have one loose enough to make noise like that.

p0300, could be just from a back fire when you start it up.

Sweet have fun there :D I'll be watching movies and be bored out of my mind. I went to a bar last night (Neon Cactus!), and had fun in the piano bar (Thursday nights are fooking AWWWEEESSSOOOMMMEEEE!!!!), and I was proud to have only one beer! And a martini with my boss before I went there... which is strange because now my boss calls me "Puffy the Cloud" and is asking me to write weather blogs... dear god don't ask...

my brother who just graduated from UTI in houston suggested it might be the coil packs

fuel filter is new, new pump now.... plugs/wires are still good and new.. ill go check and see if they're all pushed in... it's only at random when it starts to misfire or lose power

I did a nifty combo of cleaners today...

half a tank of shell 93oct (clean gas)
Added....
2 small bottles of lucas injector cleaner
1 bottle of all purpose cleaner....

so far.... good, it hasnt wanted to studder much, dropping it into neutral and revving it... gotten better switching it in/out... doesnt cause any problems w/ the tranny :) ... just basically getting the new pump to push all the cleaner thru....

doesnt MSD make coilpacks for our GAs?

was also looking at possibly picking up MMS 36lb injectors... Not sure of how I could do a custom fuel rail.... then I ventured to andysautosport and vortec apparently makes fuel rails for GAs... not sure if it'd fit with MMS bosche style injectors... or I could do expensive HKS/Greddy injectors and buy everything for them lol... I would want a new regulator, and a fuel PSI adjustment w/ a gauge.... just keep it at 44psi

next time my security light comes on ill try and pull the codes off of my gauge... thats been happening for a while... thing is... after I turn the car completely, take the keys out and restart it... the light will be turned off afterwards

Actually getting a gas cap code around here seems to be the common occurance.... especially since we can't pump our own gas. Half the time I'm not paying any attention to the attendant when he puts my cap back on, and on several occasions they don't put it tight enough or a few times don't put it back on at all. I also don't mind seeing the check engine light either. Since it would never come on in the G/A. I figured it didn;t work right. LOL :iceslolan Well i hope ou are having fun at the Indy F1's today!!!

Hey gir- How's that gauge working for ya.. the aeroforce?!! Have you figured out all the features yet?

Well i'm off to catchup on lots of landscaping I haven't gotten to...

so far good, the gauge helps alot getting codes, and telling me engine parameters

I was talking with my brother, telling him readings.... I was in idle at our wal*mart here.... he said that my ignition timing is high, and my fuel is being retarded to compensate? ... He suggested that it still might be the coilpack ... but heres a twist!

when driving, it seems to give out at around 3k-3.5k rpms like it doesnt want to go anymore.... Timing belt???

not doing misfire when it gets that high... it just doesnt want to push anymore after that.... :dunno:

all that cleaner I put in is burning my fuel pretty good and clean... I also told him about my engine idle.. the bubble noises and poofs.... he could hear it on the phone.... My engine is igniting fire in the headers? lol Hope the cat is ok

timing belt, coilpacks ? any other ideas?

Isnt this for ours?

Hey Gir make sure you call AAS before you order anything.
If its not in stock tell them you'll order when it is or you might get the :runaround:

So your engine wont go over 3500rpm's ?

Our V6s have a timing chain not a wimpy belt :gay:
And how do you know the timing is high ?
Have you actually read what it is ?

Runing rich could be many things, but you can blame your DHP for that too.
Might need readjusted-tuned :grinyes:
Also your security lights saying "hey! your ignition switch or cylinders about to die :( "

Yea the F1 was freakin awsome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I didnt realise how loud they realy are compared to indy cars.
It was mighty hot though :uhoh: I wore a black shirt too :disappoin
Also I didnt know they are 2.4L V8's NA pushing 800+ HP :yikes:

The race no sooner ended and it poured down rain.
Luckily we got a ride to my car just about a block away and I was outta there before the mad dash of foools in Indy.
Everyone thinks they are race car drivers after shit like that :evillol:

That Hamilton is some racer
Think he'll turn out to be the new michael schumacher :naughty:

later !!

yea, it starts to give up after 3-3500rpms... just doesnt want to be pushed past that...

Idk :dunno: if the timing is high.. unless DHP tune did something but doubt it's programming b/c it never was a problem before

found out today it is a chain lol so that is a negative on that being a factor, (hopefully)

Doesnt run rich all the time.. it just freaks out and goes rich for a while... most of the time it stays pretty lean

..... symptoms:
random misfire, studdering, not wanting to go past 3500rpms

coilpacks?

I'm out of ideas, and money is tight at the moment.... just want the problem tackled with ease if you know what I mean w/o beating around the bush of what might be wrong lol

K guys don't laugh but...

I have an inspiration to modify... a dodge sprinter...

All I need is an SRT-8 engine and a supercharger. I should be fine as long as I never turn. ever. therefore I will remove the steering wheel and have the fastest straight-line Sprinter EVER.

I'll set up a paypal box if you want to donate LOL.

EDIT: Here's an artists rendition of how I'd like it to look IDEALLY...

Ehhhh... there's nothing to laugh about there. I have high hopes to mod something one day...

However... when you put dodge sprinter... i thought to myself... WTF is that? once i pulled an image... I realized what you are talking about. Good luck with that idea though. A good side wind will take care of you let alone going very fast straight. Put an SRT-8 in a little omni... now that maybe one fast ride. It's just like the GLHS Omni, rare but fast.

Gir: I know the feeling of the car not wanting to go over 3500 rpms. Mine did that all the time. once i broke it out of that "habit" It would rev real high and not want to shift... I would guess and say either coil packs or even the DHP like XI is saying.

hopefully... its just the coilpacks... going to hopefully find out tomorrow...

XI, whats the piece below the coilpacks that controls them? if im right lol

If its the coilpacks, MSD

today I was taking it to a old guy who could hardly give good directions to his shop so I could run a diag on the car and see what might be wrong... didnt even make it there.... it started to random misfire prob the worse it has ever done... my engine light was coming on and blinking... only code it was giving off was the random misfire code :dunno:
