Well Gir sounds like your on your way with the GA :D
You might even see an improvement in mpg with the cooler stat.
I got the front bumper lastnight, two days early imagine that.
Got it ready to paint in the morning.
I did screw up though, I didnt inspect the ac condenser very well,
and I had to do a supplement with the insurance comp
:banghead:
Also I picked up my xrays on CD today.
But I am having troubles installing the "special" viewer.
I'll post a couple freaky xrays when I get the thing to go :evillol:

Sorry guys for jumping in like this but I need your help to answer this question. "True or False? Some OHC engines have valves that are not adjustable. Maybe it is an easy question but so far I think OHC engines can have one of the most complicated valvetrain systems. Thank you in advance

Well I've been busy, first time I can actually sit down on the forums for more then 2 minutes!
Hey gir. I have a quick question for you, are you familiar with San Angelo TX? If you are is it big , small, good, bad etc. My girl is trying to get a job in her field and she found one there. Since neither one of us are really familiar I figure i would find out for her... Not i'm too thrilled about moving to tx though if she were to get it though....

I always forget the distance is soo much greater in texas to get around. For the time to get from where you live to the place we are looking at Is the equivalent of going through like 3 different states up here! Weather wise I'm not too concerned, We have heat and humid days here to, just probably not as many as you get. The once or twice I've past through it wasn't bad. It just sucks not knowing where I will be living within a the year.....
Headers or moving out. I think i would opt for the moving out part!!! Parentals can drive you nuts.. LIKE MINE! hahahaha.

its somewhat green here, but when I use to live on the coast... very very greeeen and humid... but I loved it lol, more of a tropical climate

desert , is that pie with whip cream ?
I hate the hea & humidity!
I could live in 100-120 deg weather if the humidity was low & dry.
All that moisture just makes it feel so much hottter :eek7:

I've been to New Mexico when my sister lived out there, so i do know of the desert!!! If that's the way it is out towards that area, I would say that area of Texas would be a culture shock for me though. I live practially on top of NYC, you can drive 5 miles and go to 7 different malls, or shopping centers as well as tons to do ( not that i want to do any of it) I don't think My girl is going to go for that job anyways, she's would have considered it if it was closer to a larger city, like dallas, austin or houston. Right now the challenge is keeping her on the east coast.
the other thing i just thought of, The warmer the climate the larger the bugs. Not that all bugs bother me, but the friggen spiders. Gah! When they are the size of a small bird.. Damn! I'm gonna need a lot of RAID! HAHAHAH

Out west thiers all sorts of insects that suck ass!
Specificly Scorpions :eek7: Rattle snakes :bloated:
On a side note I got the GT painted and put back together thursday night.
Heres a crappy pic (http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c242/xeroinfinity/Models/newfrnt.jpg),
I forgot to paint the Pontiac emblem before I put it on the bumper,
thats why tapes around it :banghead:
Also been working on debadging the GT.
I noticed after I removed them and washed the area,
when the water runs over where they were,
it leaves a ghost image of the badges, looks kickass.

The bumper looks great XI! Watch out for stone chips and those pesky animals now!
Well Today i was working on the Toyota project, and doing a coolant flush. I was talking to my mechanic the other day he was thinking maybe someone put oil in the antifreeze by mistake :nono: . Well after 4 hours of flushing that crap out of the antifreeze, it looks pretty clean, minus some small chunks of oil that floats by. So we can only hope that this solves the problem!

Hand waxing is the way to remove them I believe.
Or rubbing compound in general but I like the way it looks :p
I went down south today, where Vipey goes to college, and raised some hell!

Rubbing compound works well, then a nice polish afterwards. I had a ghosted Pontiac Emblem on the G6 for awhile, but that finally wore off. I'm unsure if i want to take anything else off yet though.
As to your Civic story.... I saw some really nice "Golden Rice" the other day  Maybe I'll go back and take a pic of it, it'll be a good laugh for everyone! I also had some civic try to race me in my mom's Vue. Sadly he couldn't keep up... muahahahahahah :evillol: Must have pretty disappointing that he couldn't keep up with a Saturn, Better yet the SUV! hahahahha I turned on the rear wiper, in the sense to wave bye bye to him as i flew down the road! :cwm27:
Oil in the coolant isn't a good thing but it doesn't make any sense. The oil is only in the radiator/ coolant system, but no coolant anywhere else such as engine or trans. :screwy: The car doesn't over heat, no white smoke out of the exhaust... nothing! So the new thought is someone put oil in the radiator by mistake. What a mess though! everything got all sticky from the oil/coolant mixture. Urgh! Later on I'll check it to see if any new oil mixed with the coolant though, if it did then we are in trouble....
What's up with the x-rays XI?

Oh they were when my back & neck were all messed up.
Still a little stiff once in a while, but nothing I wont over come :D
That first head shot is freaky with some ghostly apperision poking out my mouth. Guess my hair could have been on my left side a showed up though I'm not sure what it is.
ANd on the lunch one you can see my lower lungs are pretty nasty, thats what 20yrs of smoking does for you :disappoin
Which I think alot of that came from painting with out a good respirator.
I quit smoking a yr ago and my lungs are much clearer then they were.

That would be a gas hog! :grinyes:
Even the stage II is pretty beafy,
and you'll feel the differance in the seat of your pants.
Esspecially since you already have the DHP Pcm,
which you'll have to get that retuned for optimum performance.

yea for sure Im getting it dyno tuned locally after the engine build... probly tuned again if I do happen to get the RSM SC but not sure.... would I have to? lol
I SEE the difference in gas milage after I put on just the 62mm TB... good god man lol... I have to drive light footed now :gay:
also my engine temp is prone to heating up FAST, ... back when We were doing my seafoam kit on cars.. I later found out it breaks down normal oil... and I def remember putting just a little in the oil... theres a tapping noise in one of my cyl, like a lifter or rocker arm is making noise.. I hear it sometimes if I am pushing my car thru a neighborhood at low rpms.. sounds nasty.... can really hear it at a cold start... I am going to do my oil change soon, see if that cures the quick overheating, even w/ the 180stat placed in... it doest get more than 210F but if I cruise for a little bit it drops to 185F easy :dunno:
but since the new TB, im taking it easy w/ the GA now just driving lol, need gas!
Hey XI, where did you happen to get your Roller Rockers or w/e.... Im checking comp cams right now but the site is being very very sloooow :dunno:
I also wanna find some ARP Head studs for the build, might as well do more while its apart :p
Go watch the movie "Blades of Glory" lol....

yes I've had to resort to light footed myself thats why I drive the GT. The SE gets great mileage, as long as you keep it under 2k rpm .....
Oh ya those xrays are strange, but kinda kool.
I posted a thread on another forum earlier trying to get these chix to post thier CT & MIR scanns
It sounds like you have some thing wrong since your temps climb so fast.
Mine always stays below 200 with the 185 deg stat,
unless I've sit with the engine running when it was 110 deg outside .
Pretty sure I got the RR @ advance, here is the link (http://www.partsamerica.com/ProductDetail.aspx?mfrcode=COM&mfrpartnumber=141612&parttype=156&ptset=A)but i'm not sure if its still good.
They dont have them for sale anymore.
I was just talking to Vipey about this in that other thread.

its not an instant climb, but still gradual... I really just think its the seafoam I put in there that might of thinned out the oil maybe :dunno: and yea, its warmer down here :D
ill check around for the rocker rollers, there has to be some for the 3400 lol, might just go ask the people at gagt forums for links, I think mms sponsors them or something, unsure

Let me know if those work. If they do, I'll buy them with the MMS stage 2 or stage 3 stuff (BTW I sent MMS an email about stage 3 equipment. They said the heads flow almost as well as Dart LS1 heads, and they'd be going for about $800 more than the stage 2 stuff, with the stage 3 cam going for about the same price. If I can make enough money over the summer I'm going to get stage 3 stuff so I can have a premiere grand am... and supercharge someday!!! woot!).
Will the MMS stuff work directly with the roller rockers, or will I need other parts too? What other engine parts could I upgrade at that point besides forged pistons?
Thanks guys...
Oh, and this guy in town is going to bore out my TB for me for about 60-80 bucks... should I go 65mm? :D

I will tell you guys now that if you use the RRollers you will have to have you valve covers machined out a little so they dont hit and break the vavle covers or the RRollers.
And you might want those rocker are studs as they are better then stock, if they are for the 3.4 that is.
Other things to consider would be your bottom end of the engine.
Forgerd rods, F crank, performance bearings.
And GIR That ticking at start up could also be piston slap!
Something not talked about much but the 3.4 do get it .
What happens is the top of the cylinders get tapered and when you start the engine it will tap untill it warms up making the cylinder tighter as it heats up more.
Also Gir if you just used 2-3 oz of the Seafoam then it shouldnt make your oil to thin.
If so it would overheat your engine pretty quick.
My SE doesnt tick or tap.
The GT has some piston slap on cylinders 2 & 4.
The only way to fix this is to bore it out. :disappoin
And the only way to find out if you have it is to pull the heads and measure the bore of the cylinders.
On the TB you can go 65mm, just make sure they know what they are doing.
Because if you get to far over to the right of the TB you can get into the IAC port or the TPS and it'll be screwed up.

for the RRs, you think some diamond head tips should do the job? shouldnt be to hard,.. how much do you have to mil out?
where do you think we could find some of this bottom end stuff... I want to plan on having everything ready before I goto build... anything else I can buy would help lol so I dont have a dead GA in my driveway :naughty:
Is there anyway to get rid of that tapping that happens?
I think I might of saw some bearings from that project v6fury site that we might be able to use... ill look it up when I have time

I think I'll just get the RR's later when I have more time to do the research. I'll just get the stage 2/stage 3 stuff for now and possibly headers and high-flow cat, and get the TB bored out. Then life will be awesome as i shred stangs :) And I'll have a baby xero. And it looks like Gir will too :D

Gir, it depends how much would need taken off.
I didnt at first so they all hit when I cranked it over.
I IMMEDIATELY stoped cranking!
When I removed the valve covers they had markes on them where the hit so I just ground those areas down and a little more, it was trial and error with little errors :D
The proper way is to measure the hight diff between the old Rocker arms and new RR's,
then figure out how much needs removed on the VC's.
Not sure about the bottom end as I havnt looked to hard for those parts yet. Going to be expensive no doubt about that.
And one very important thing I forgot, the timing chain and gears.
Those need replaced too, best to do that when the cam is put in :grinyes:
The stock ones are L-cheap-o.
That tapping if it only does it when the engine is cold isnt a big deal. Though the lifters are probly covered with varnish.
I took the GT ones apart and cleaned them, what a mess, it helped for a few thoughsand miles but it always comes back. Preveous owner(s) didnt change the oil as often as it should have been.
As the GT was a "fleet" vehicle :shakehead
The SE I replaced the lifters when I did the last LIM and head work and they are always silent now .

Vipey, thats almost against the law :lol2:

yea, I wanna try and go with a strong stageII type of setup, kinda like MMS + more ... and then later this summer, ill add the RSM supercharger
other than that... some suspension, and maybe later on in the year Ill look into a water/meth injection kit :D ... might be safer than nitrious and keep temps down w/ chem boost

I totally wont have money for the supercharger this summer... I was thinking about buying universal parts and having the guy in town assemble it for me, but I doubt I'll save much money in the long run. However, I do want to get a supercharger and have it boost over 10 psi if I decide on forged pistons...
btw... I wont be able to get the forged pistons until after my engine is rebuilt, correct? I mean assuming I got stage 2 stuff and then had the engine rebuilt with the new parts replacing it... I'd need to get measurements of the pistons before I had some custom made for me, wouldn't I?
The problem is I probably can't go more than one week without my car lol, and the guy said he could have my engine rebuilt within a week. So that's what I was planning on. But if there's no way to get the piston measurements beforehand, I might just have to get them later when I become serious about the supercharger and extreme boost.

hahaha yeah that's exactly what i'm hoping to get out of this. GRAND AMS FOREVER!!! Sounds like a movie

Vipey You dont have to use anything realy special for the stage 2-3 kits. Just the timing gear & chain.
And you probly can run 8-10PSI on stock internals.
Though replacing the internals just makes it more reliable and less likly to break a rod or piston. They usually take a short cut through the block :eek7:
Did it get cold yesterday where everyones at ?
Monday it was close to 80.
Tuesday it wasnt bad during the day, 70s.
Then last night it droped to 40's,
............ and this morning it is SNOWING :banghead:
Also Vipey you talked about the 36 lbs injectors....
That would be overkill!
Unless you are running Mega HP with 15+ psi of boost.

yea im just planning ahead for a strong stgII setup... I think what im goin to do is mix and match... use S&S headers, get port job to match everything, and build internals...
I found a place locally, less than 15mins from my house that might be able to port.. they have a good rep from what ive heard, and do vipers :naughty: so im sure they know what they're doing
www.portpros.com
ill try and get the flow#s from MMS on their stageII hopefully milled to 0.020 or w/e, and ill probly just purchase only a few items from MMS, like new ported intakes for $300 and matched TB at 62mm... as well gasket kits for planning ahead... prob supercharged stgII cam and w/e else I might decide on... just piecing it all together is what gives you a headache :banghead:
I just want it done lol for less thatn $3k on MMS, and RSM S/C prob in june... and later this year, water/meth kit :naughty: , keep those aluminum heads coooool, ill prob look around for that trans cooler XI, here in the next few weeks... it'll run off the line that is currently looped around from the HC lol... I dont mind not having a heater

Yeah the 36lb injectors come with the stage 2 package, so I'd prolly just get them to make it easier than trying to call them and special order stuff or whatever :D
But hey I ALMOST enjoyed the 30 degree weather this morning (ALMOST)... being as it was high 70's yesterday and 30 this morning, I could really get to test the difference cold air makes on my engine ;) ;)
WOOOO rocks :D
So I guess I get to sit around and decide if I want supercharger or engine parts. Probably engine parts for reliability :)

I just want it done lol for less thatn $3k on MMS, and RSM S/C prob in june... and later this year, water/meth kit , keep those aluminum heads coooool, ill prob look around for that trans cooler XI, here in the next few weeks... it'll run off the line that is currently looped around from the HC lol... I dont mind not having a heater
The trans cooler doesnt hook to the coolant lines.
It hooks up to the trans lines up front between the radiator and trans.

I didnt see where the Stage II came with those 36# injectors....... They might not be to bad then if they come with his kit.
Ya almost 80 yesterday and 30's today :disappoin
Though it is fun with a CAI on these brisk mornings :grinyes:
I went down to Turkey Run state park (http://www.turkeyrunstatepark.com/) yesterday/lastnight.
My kids have spring break this week, never fails to rain or be freezing out
They were going to camp out but resorted to the cabins since it was storming and cold :(
Didnt even get on any trails........

I've been by Turkey Run before... looks neat! One place you'd LOVE to go if you like geology or earth sciences is Shades of Death state park... 300million yr old + rock structures, and you're walking on fossilized critters that existed back when Indiana was under the ocean and 20 degrees SOUTH of the equator... it's an awesome place, especially if you go there and have some sort of a guide :)
Hellz yeah my CAI roxxored today. And my muffler seemed louder, so of course I just HAD to rev @ civics :)

would it be possible to run it though from that heatercore line or is the trans cooler bolted up a certain way? Like mounted towards the front or something...

Shades of Death state park (http://www.in.gov/dnr/parklake/properties/park_shades.html), been thier more times then I could count.
My wifes family always has thier get togethers there,
so we frequent Shades throough out the summer.
I have even landed on thier air strip, very short strip
The last time I was in Shades we saw this deer running close to this rock ledge,
and it just flew off the edge and fell about 100 ft down,
and about 25ft from us walking on the trail.
That was kida wierd & scarry,
and what a mess it made on the trail :cwm27:
On a lighter note, I cant believe its april and its snowing :disappoin
:uhoh: back to work I must go!

Well it has to hook up to the trans line,
and the easiest place is the front.
Most of them come with some ties to fasten it to the car.
The best place is in front of the radiator.:grinyes:

Exhaust tips!
They are pricey!!
I found some nice ones(a pair) on ebay for $99 :naughty:
Havent seen any others that cheap, at least not for stainless steel.
My SE has dual tips I threw together.
You can kinda see them in this pic from Turkey Run the other night,
the GT has singles' :gay:

I want my grand am to look like this someday:

Anyway, these are the tips that I'm prolly gonna get. $40ish each, stainless steel, polished, slanted, sexy tips:

And here are some of the cool decals I'm getting:

But of course for my Grand Am instead. They will look exactly like that though. I think it looks neat, not :gay: at least :p

I'd pay $4k for that SC right now !!
Those tips are not dual tips just a single.....
Those arent bad, I like the Dual tiped ones, thats probly why they cost more.
I like that shiny grafix
The SE will stay lookin stock till I boost it then I might put on an SS emblem :naughty:
The GT is pretty much badgless except for the very front V6 OHV.
My next big project I think will be making a ram air hood,
and boring a TB too 65mm :D
Happy Easter everyone

How does that supercharger compare to the RSM supercharger on pfyc.com?
Yeah I wont get that body kit till I do engine work and boost more than likely, but I'm seeing rust in small spots and I'm getting worried that after a couple more years it might spread :/

ive been busy lately, doing nothing haha
I was laid off at my recent job so everything car related is put on hold untill new job :( sucks... just keeping what I have saved closely untill I get a new job..
I was laid off b/c they are hiring more temp people to come in and work... cheaper for the company.. SUCKS
while off work ive been uhh playing some nitto racing :D
http://www.nitto1320.com (http://www.nitto1320.com/default.asp) under the downloads section, nifty little online flash game, dont need a high speed connection to play but id recommend it... My account name on there is Girz0r .. currently sporting topped out twin turbo supra, a mazda rx-8 that runs a 7.8 1/4 w/ 200 shot of nitrious :D and my good ole civic si .. fun game.. once you get the hang of it of how the braket ET works and everything its a very addicting game...
I can even do a favor and give you money if you'd like some, just gotta let me know

It doesnt take rust long in IN to grow. My se isnt to bad but its been undercoated even inside the trunk. The Gt has several spots on the rear quaters. This summer I plan on getting ride of that and my rusty trunk.

one xbox360 game im waiting for is that Forza Motorsport 2 :grinno: MMMmmmm.... ive heard its like the grand tourismo of xbox, and it should look pretty sweet on the 360 :D
I never play my 360 these days, just sits... Might be selling it here in the next month if forza motorsport doesnt impress me :dunno: .. good way to make $400+ :D, i've played it less than 40times so it still has good value plus everything I'd include

I like both the superchargers. I have a long time before I have to worry about boost at least. I'm going to get the engine stuff done obviously and probably headers/hi flow cat... and might get forged pistons too (but I need to get them special ordered, and since I'm getting my engine rebuilt, I don't know what size I should order!!! eep!)

The SC I have is from RSM and has that naked shaft turning between the rad and engine. Very dangerous working on when running :eek7:
I just know though as soon as I install it, I'll blow out the trany :uhoh:
Though I'm getting together some of those parts from that guys site, the Raybestos CLutches, I've been waiting for them to come out and now I see they are.
I'll build up a 4t45e trans I have soon :D
On rebuilding your motor it should be gone over and cleaned. Once its honed down they can measure the cylinders to know what size. If you order before chances are they wont be the right ones, then you'd have to hassle with returns :banghead:

Yeah I will have to not have my car for another week or so then... which will suxxor. I can take busses in the summer to work, and i live next door to walmart, but I can't go other places :(
It might be worth it tho... the pistons will only cost like $120 or so I think? Might be worth it if I can survive without a car for a while... cause forged pistons will last way the hell longer than my tranny (especially if I go MAJOR boost :naughty:)

Depends on what your make and model are.
If you are refering to exhaust "tips" I'd stick with stainless steal.
And Welcome to AF!
Yes Vipey pistons are very expensive,
especially the ones you are looking at ...
Thats not something one would realy do for street use.
Unless you just have money to blow or waste
