They looked at 9 different local wreck places and non of them had grand ams or usable tanks that had no fuel issues... amazon.com only gives me an order number and on the site it says "Your order should have arrived by now" or something like that in red :disappoin sooo just going to wait till tomorrow, if I dont get it sometime then, im going to call them like wtf?
yea Wardriving is fun, if you have a laptop w/ a card you can use "net stumbler" (google it) to find networks in a heartbeat literally.. even gives real time connection signal of how strong each one is lol.

they guy at the shop kept saying the OEM from the dealership is made of plastic :dunno: and was surprised what I brought him was metal...

I havent seen any gas tanks that were plastic, that guy's a knob!
They can be coated with plastic and have a plastic divider inside, but a whole tank made from plastic... that would be foolishly dangerous!!!
Still think your original tank could have worked if it was cleaned out good.
I was thinking this weekend I'm going to drop the SE's tank and replacing the stupid level float and probly add a higher flowing fuel pump , since I'm in there. :evillol:
Hopefully this will fix your troubles Gir.
Its been a long time since I havnt had wheels,

I got a story for you guys...
So I bought new tires today. Some of you may remember I just bought Goodyear Assurance Tripletreads (80k mile tires) back in November. Here's why I needed new ones:
Remember I got my car lowered back in like September? Well yeah, the guy lowered my car and said my car was "already aligned" when they were put on and set my car free to go. This was before I knew a lot about cars and was like "wow im lucky!!!" so I drove away. Then I got new tires in November and apparently I didn't get them aligned because I thought they were fine.
WELL THEY WERE NOT, DEAR GOD THEY WERE NOT!!!!
So my car has been shaking violently at high speeds, enough to make my hands literally numb. I would make certain comments involving chicks and my steering wheel but this is a family forum LOL... anyway back on topic, I called Tire Barn and they told me to take the car in immediately cause it sounded rly bad. Fearing my car was out of alignment, I brought it in...
The results were absolutely sickening.
They gave me the results of the camber, toe, etc. and since I don't really know what they mean (now I kinda do... sorta), I asked the guy. He was like um yeah... your car is horribly out of line, the toe is so far in that it would literally melt your tires at high speeds... and your tires are toast." I was like WTF!!!! I hadn't really checked my tires in a while, but as soon as I checked them... let's put it this way. New they are 9/32 or whatever, but his measuring tool read a 3 (is that 3/32?). For them to wear that much in a couple months, literally not even 10k miles, is unbelievable. And my back tires were so bad (old Firestones), they couldn't even be measured. They were essentially slicks.
I told Tire Barn "I'll be right back" and took the sheet (I will upload it here in a sec) to Tuffy 2 doors down. I walked in, dropped it on the table facing them, and said "what does this look like to you?" They just laughed and said "wow that's horribly out of line!" and I said "... yeah you guys aligned this, by the way." and they stopped laughing really fast. Now granted I couldn't really get mad at them because none of THEM worked at Tuffy at the time this happened, but still, I was NOT ABOUT to pay the money for tires AND alignment from some dumbf@#$ that did the job wrong.
I essentially made Tuffy pay for my alignment, but I needed to buy new tires. I bought some Toyo tires for the front (60k tires) that have better traction on dry pavement than tripletreads, cost less, and are almost as good (not quite) in the winter. They are a great deal though!
Handling is absolutely a night and day difference. I can tear around corners now. The mechanic told me "you will be immediately surprised at the difference. You will go from driving horribly to feeling like you're in an autocross car." He obviously knew I had suspension mods done so he was totally accurate. BTW he's one of the top 7 most experienced mechanics in the state so he knows what he's talking about and he was 100% dead on on everything I checked!
So yeah, now I burned up a $280 set of two tires. In a few months. Thanks to a person that couldn't align his d@#$ into a swimming pool.
I hate car places sometimes :(
F@#$ers. At least my car handles like a god now tho...

I want the numbers of the camber and toe etc... !
that sounds horrible dude, and wow... 'already aligned' ? wtf nooo lol
with suspension mods, camber prob went in and toe is result of not being aligned....
did it camber in, and the inside part of the tire wear off first?

they make my tires hurt too... i can't believe how chewed up they are. it's absolutely sickening. I got new "toyos" or something for the front, which have great traction, but nothing looks as cool as tripletreads. But at least these werent like 2 arms and 3 legs. Should handle close to as long of a time period too... prolly outlast my car lol, assuming it stays adjusted right.
MAN does my car handle awesome now!!!

DAMN... that was bad! those toes were horrible!!! I try to check my tires as often as i can think of it too make sure i don't run into those problems again.... At least you got them to pay for the alignment. A good thing you caught it early too, cause you could end up with a blow out and those are really not fun especially at high speeds.
I had my G/a Doggie walking or trailing ( whatever its called) once.. that's not fun to deal with, basically it's when the back wheels are not aligned to the front wheels... it causes the back of the car to go toward a direction ( right or left) versus the front of the car... SO in my case if i hit the smallest bump in the road while going a good speed the whole back end of my car would come loose and start skidding out on me... and being that it was winter I had the added bonus of lots of pot hole and ICE...
If my typing doesnt make 100% sense at times... don't mind me, my mind is still sleeping....

Wow Vipey thats pretty bad on your alignment and eating up your tires :eek7:
It probly was alright when you first had the springs installed, then after about 200 miles the camber started to drop. :disappoin
If my alignments of 0.03" either way, I fix it.
... but I have an alignment table :p
Now you know, check your tires more often!!
(along with the multitude of other GA issues that require regular checks) .Balance is very important too !!
Man I just got back from the dentist.... my left side jaw is numb and I'm afraid to eat... .... :uhoh:

yeah lots of my teeth are sensitive thanks to dental work the last couple days... i'd say the most uncomfortable feeling of my entire life so far was when they ground down one of my teeth without novacaine... oh god it sucked. It's like putting ice cream on your front teeth for 20 seconds... AHGGHHH it makes me cringe thinking about it!
But yeah omg I love driving now, these Toyo tires are pretty sweet. Can't wait to try them in rain. I just hope my chewed up Tripletreads wear themselves back into place so they are at least somewhat useful, even though the outsides only have 33% of tread left :(

Vipey I would say you lowering the car did throw off the camber, causing them to wear.
Didnt it say in the spring instructions to have it checked after so many miles ??
Any time the struts are removed/replaced the alignment will be off though typicaly not that much,
...your car was way out !!
Good Luck with the Toyo.
They came on the GT and they sucked in all conditions.
Made realy nice black marks and smoked realy well.
I dont notice much of that with the triple treads :disappoin
Yeah my dental work was a fix from my last visit, kindaa.
I was eating pizza a couple weeks ago and I felt something hard in my mouth.
I spit it out and I thought it was white marble or a piece of ceramics....
Well it was part of my back molar that broke off above a previous filling which fell out too.
He said I was lucky I didnt have to have a root canal,
those are always long and drawn out fun for a few weeks :thumbsdow :grinno:
Then I was thinking.....
I paid $250 plus for the previous work and the filling fell out causing the tooth to become weaker breaking off.
Now if I put bondo in a persons filling on thier car dent(s) and it fell out, I'd have to do the work again for free.....
But does the dentist give me a break.... HELL YEAH ! :grinyes:
It only cost $65 this round , but still....
I should of had a warranty or something on that tooth repair
Oh and that's with insurance prices
thaank god its almost friday :sly:

hahahaha awesome...
yeah i'll get my car scanned for alignment every time i get my tires rotated... decided to pay $10 for road hazard as it's not really that expensive, this way I get free rotating and balancing and etc... the guy even said if I autoX and the tires are worn evenly they'll replace them within the first 3 years... I was like HELLZ YEAH!
But yeah, I forgot the name of this brand but they are pretty good... it's pretty surprising actually. Not better than tripletreads but still very good tires! I played around with tight corners again today and I think I should stop doing it so much cause i want to keep my tires from exploding LOL :D

Wow Annette Benning! wasn't quite expecting to see that one! :grinno: I'm curious to see what would come out if i did that... probably something scary or funny... :cwm27:

There should be a warranty... Cause then i would go back for the filling that fell out about 2 years ago for me...
Hey Vipey.. those road hazard things that they sell are good... but becareful on what they actually cover... miles etc... cuz there are some hidden things they don't tell ya.... plus The place that i bought that from when i got my tires, went out of business... so therefore all the screws and nails I had to pay for out of my pocket some place else.:disappoin... and currently on the 6 i have 3 that I've found in my tires as of right now.....

On the hidden warranty, getting them rotated as stated in the agreement is part of the warranty and can void that if not rotated. Just an fyi :p

I feel all special now... I just helped out some people with there cars.... :grinyes:
I just helped some lady in a lexus that her car died in the middle of the parking lot. She couldn't figure out that the SES and oil lights all kept coming on... Umm Hello... your car stopped running that's why. So i get in, turn the key.. the car wouldn't turn over.... so i stomped on the gas.. BAM it started right up.. I revved it a few times, well the car was backfiring like crazy and all you could smell was gas. I told her You better get this fixed ASAP! you may not make it that far... She dared to asked me if she could make it down the shore... All i kept thinking was you'llbe lucky if you make it out of the lot.
then I helped my manager with her pickup truck, with some SES light codes and how to get things fixed on her truck due to a failed inspection due to an old accident...
So I feel so special right now...!!! :jump3:

BTW My temporary bridge fell out while eating a hot dog. I caught it before i swallowed it tho. Then I tried putting it back in with cement stuff but it dried too fast. F'ING GAY! Now I don't know what to do, and my teeth are so sensitive that I can't even swallow cold water with tylenol to help alleviate it. This will be the shittiest next 2 weeks imaginable.

93 degrees out right here right now and I hauled a server from one building on campus to another. About 1/4 mile carrying a computer heavier than any computer you guys have probably seen for a desktop (unless you're an avid gamer like me who has a case larger and heavier than this server lol). It's essentially somewhere between the size of a midtower and a fulltower. But yeah... I did the 1/4 in about 20 minutes LOL! And lost about all the water in my body. Still dehydrated, about to drink some water!

So i had to actually do the speed limit today! I'll reset the radar... hope that works!

Let me correct myself.... my radar doesn't really have a "reset" on it.. it's more of leaving it unplugged until it clears the memory of my settings that i programmed in it... which I'm unsure how long that takes... but I'll find out tomorrow and see if that works. The atmosphere could have something to do with it... never gave it much thought though. I thought it was the airport that caused the radar glitch cause it happened when i got to the airport today.
I'll do my best to stay away from electronics.... it's hard though when you are surrounded by them!

Hey XI you know that carbon knock I talk about sometimes, would it be possible to clean if I remove the UIM and spray some seafoam down there and let it sit for a little bit?
I wish I could just look at the valves and clean them myself... I hate hearing that noise on cold starts....
Seafoam is a great product for cleaning the engine and the fuel lines. Put 1 bottle in your fuel tank and hook 1 to your brake booter and have someone to rev the engine to around 1500 - 2000 rpms. till the can is empty. It'll clean all the injectors, the engine etc. The vehicle will smoke like its on fire but thats all the stuff being cleaned from the engine and fuel lines. It's better if you add 1 cans every time you do an oil change every 3000 miles. I use it in my 99 Dodge Ram and 96 Grand Am. I am buying a 87 Trans Am with a 350 sitting in it and will do the same thing to it. My boyfriend whos a mechanical engineer swears by the stuff.

Hey shewolf, thanks for the info! And Welcome to AF!
Yea, I've used it a few times on my grand am, works like a charm, I havent thought of using a whole can inside my gas tank, altho I'm sure that wont hurt much.... on the 3.4L v6 grand am I run it through my PCV Valve right there in front using a nice kit I pieced together using stuff from home depot and a auto store for the measuring cup that drains from the bottom. Works like a charm!
One thing that I have noticed and have been told is that using all that seafoam into the brake boost line or pcv valve seems to thin out the oil a little bit, (*noticed slight temp change in normal operation*) but all is good.

Also it does NOT clean the injectors Via PCV or any other vacum line as they dont run through the fuel system directly.
Only way to do that is with an injection cleaning system that attaches to your shradder valve on the fuel rail.
It does clean the valves and plentum though.
And I hope no one adds a can to thier oil :yikes:
