Back when both MSN and AOL still sold dialup internet access. Is there a need for another honda website to be lost among the likes of Facebook, and every other idea people put on the internet?

I haven't seen anyone really do anything halfway decent to a Honda nowadays. Although my ideas don't line up with the stance bro, or illest crowd these days. It's easy to push it all aside for the grown up responsibilities.

I've done a huge step back, and am working on a 63' VW, and have the M3 for race days.

Working on cars all day every day burned me out. But I finally want to make something again. My current car was completely untouched. One owner, little old lady, did all her service work at a local Honda dealership, under 100k miles. Oh and it's an automatic.

Already done a bit of suspension work and electronics inside..., rebuilding a K20 I picked up cheap that will eventually be going in. Doing everything myself, including teaching myself to do paint and body work as I go.

It's going to be fairly unique by the time I'm finished.

I bought an Si sedan new in 07. It has 170k on it now. For a while my commute was 126 miles per day... 2 hours a day...., so I was putting 35-40k miles a year on it. Then I bought a house in the city. So now my commute is 25 miles per day, but still around 1.5-2 hours travel time with traffic... And I've found I have some pretty serious road rage issues. I made the conscious decision to start leaving my gun at home because of it.
Thinking about moving to Idaho to get away from all the people moving to Dallas.

Trashy. A lot of streets also drop off & pick back up. Or the side streets are staggered from each other off the main. I felt like I had to go 2mi out of my way around the block to go half a mile from where I was.

Me personally? I'm moving jut outside of Denver as soon as my house sells. There happens to be a Lexus dealer just up the street. It's costs a little more to live in Lakewood but if I've learned anything from living in various states: cost of living is relative. You make more where it costs more to live. The trick is getting relocated. The rest falls into place.

I leap a lot without looking. Somehow that works for me :dunno:

I'm not gonna lie...it sure feels good to be active here. It's like a quiet safe haven from the busy social media noise.

The wife and I looked at moving to Colorado several years ago. And I paid visits to all the Lexus dealerships. But both the wife and I decided it really didn't seem like the place for us to live. So we're looking other areas.... and then I'm also trying to get on with Tesla, so if that happens, plans will change again.

And this is about the only place my family can't find my postings. I'm most active on Google+ and have all but abandoned Facebook.... I maintain a linkedin account for professional networking. But I never seem to forget this place completely.

Bridgestone Potenza RE11a.... Non-directional, and "SIDE FACING OUT" on the sidewalls.
The stickiest tires I've ever owned. They pick up every damn rock and pebble on the road and bash it against the inside of the fenders. I'm thinking I'm going to have the insides of the fenders sprayed with some stuff Lexus uses on the insides of their fenders for sound deadening... It's some type of polyester material.

Thats why I said looks. :)

Interesting their tread patter is non directional, I would think the tread angle helps aid in water evacuation. But I am far from a tire engineer. I just read they brought back the RE-71 as a RE-71R which should have some decent grip.

Well, it's listed as a summer tire. I would have preferred an all season tire, but never a directional tire. And unfortunately, tire choices are fairly limited in 205/50/15, as there's no production vehicle that uses that size AND a 15 inch wheel is now considered to be a very small size.

We've been getting an abnormally high amount of rainfall this year though, for Texas, and these tires haven't given me any reason to doubt my traction yet. I'm just curious if the soft tire compound will last more than a year though.

It didn't take too long to learn Tesla didn't have their shit together enough for me to have confidence in staying with the company.

In two weeks, I replaced 4 drive motors, 3 batteries, and a whole array of failed/faulty components. Lots of amateur engineering, and quality control issues. Considering there are only around 1000 cars in the Dallas metro area, the failure rate is mighty high. The service manager said the cars probably average a trip to the shop every 90 days for some sort of problem...... consumer reports even rates the Model S 'average' reliability.

Which might be ok if I was working a dealership... but as a Tesla employee, all those failures cost the company I was working for lots of money. A company that is relying on a billionaire and a seriously over-inflated stock price to keep it propped up.

Bundle all that with super-ultra-mega-micro-managing, and working their people until they have nervous breakdowns or quit.... I made a quick exit.... which by the way, I totally 100% believe the stories about a Tesla manager being scolded for missing a meeting, because of his child's birth. Because I worked with a guy who the regional director actually said to him, "You have to make a choice. Either Tesla, or your family."

You have to be committed to Tesla first, in order to work there. :screwy:

On the bright side, I did kick some serious ass, and learned a ton about the cars while I was there.

Sorry to hear it was so shitty there. At least you got experience with something different. I'm sure it'll help down the line when Lexus (or another manufacturer) starts producing mass produced electric cars, or even hybrids. Cool that you were able to get your previous job back. that's why it's good to try not to ever burn bridges with people. I certainly respect you leaving a company that you couldn't believe in. I had to do that with Cingular back when they went to GSM, before merging with AT&T. Unfortunately, I still don't have a backup plan for leaving there, after 10+ years lol

I've always gotten a really shady feeling about Teslas for some reason. Never heard any of those kind of rumors though, but that's beyond disturbing.

It was neat to do something different for a few weeks, and to get a look inside the mystery box.

About two years ago, Toyota actually bought 2300 electric drivetrains and batteries from Tesla for testing in all electric RAV4's, and quickly terminated the project. I believe I now understand why.
It's kinda silly, because the batteries are currently supplied by Panasonic, which Toyota owns a majority stake in.
The motors are all Tesla though, and the most recent ones I was putting in are on their 13th redesign generation.

Oil leak from the rear seal, coolant leak from the upper radiator neck, rear diff leaks at the axle seals, atf leaks at the trans cooler, power steering fluid leaks at the steering box, and the AC loses charge so that's leaking somewhere too.
