I was wondering what the hell those things were. First thought was tile spacers, from watching too much of a cleavage ridden show on the DIY channel.

The yellow/orange pipe at the bottom of the photo, has the largest bowl I've ever seen on any pipe or bong. I can fit like two thumbs in it.

Shit, makes me want to learn to blow glass, and learn to make masterpieces like that. Might be a form of art that I could have a possible chance at, because I can't draw for shit (which is important for most forms of art). And shit, Corning isn't all that far from me (they fucking invented Pyrex and Gorilla Glass for an ass-load of phones & shit).

Doooo it. I've been wanting to take some glass blowing classes myself.

As far as quality, this is probably the best overall piece that I have. Its pretty much perfectly executed. Heavy, thick, no blemishes, well made carb hole, great bowl size, smokes amazing, color change is fantastic, hard to see in the photo but this pipe is amazing to look at once it builds up some resin.

Also, it was made by the same person that made made the knobby blue one that you were eyeing Spoon. They're both signed (in glass) on the opposite side of the carb. Local artist.

Of course its locally made and hand crafted.... its Portland. FUCK the weirdos in that corner of the country know how to make some quality shit

LOL thats why I have so many. They're little sculptures, pieces of art. Plus the prices on them are really good because so many people do it. You know, pipe shops are the only place of business that I know of where it's still common practice to haggle on prices.

I've never once in my life ever paid sticker price for a pipe. Ever. What the fuck else can you say that about?

Hell yeah. I once had a chance to have a connect with a local glass blower, but blew it. I was working at Pacific Sunwear at the time (don't fucking judge me, I knew a manager who pulled some strings and I needed a job). A holiday season temp kid started working there, and we got to talking. Unfortunately he was let go (followed shortly by me no-call-no-showing), and I never got a chance to purchase a glass piece from his friend.

There must be another glass blower locally, or the same person, because my friend had his pipe fixed by a friend of a friend of a friend. It's a Tommy Chong piece, so it's pretty much a collectors item at this point. Unfortunately their way of fixing it was to extend it from a short piece to a much longer piece, with clear glass in the middle. :( Still better than no piece at all.

I'm horrible at human communication, so I've never even attempted to talk anyone down before. Of course I only buy $10-25 pieces. :D

Shit I cant think of one thing I can get in Chicago thats of significant quality and made locally..... not one thing. Its a city of consumers, not producers.... and I guess its for that reason haggling isnt that common. At least not on small stuff. If youre gonna spend over $100 at a small shop (selling whatever) then they might work with you if youre a regular

Last thing i haggled was clothes in high school, and that was cause of the reasons I just said. I was a regular (back when I cared about clothes) and I would spend about $150 at a time (plenty of disposable income back then)

I always haggle on pipes. I feel like they don't respect you here if you pay without trying to get a few off. Maybe its cultural?

Probably so. I suspect when handmade stuff is the norm then its also the norm to boost the price.

Course boosting prices is kinda what sales is about, but here if the price is boosted its cause they fully expect people to pay it

I was going to fucking say... Deep dish pizza is the shit. Unfortunately the only deep dish pizza I get around here is Uno's. Every other place around here tries their own shit (thin ass strips that is so gross and oily that it makes me shit green poop [I wish I was fucking joking, and so does my colon]). Or they try to make the NYC "style" pizza (thin crust), which is not quite equally greasy but still pretty too damn greasy). Fuck, I need to go to Uno's soon, with their small deep dish with sun dried tomatoes, instead of sauce, pizza.

Unos is good shit (pun intended). Ive had imitation "deep dish" in florida ONCE and vowed never again. If Im outside of chicago area (or the one time I went to NY) then I stay away from local attempts at pizza cause Ive never been impressed. Jesus. Anything with Gumby followed by a product called Pokey Sticks is something I need to have. Pennsylvania seems to be the only option to me, which is 4-4.5 hours away.

Not sure how far west they were but I feel like when I was in school they had dozens of locations in college towns. Now they have not even a dozen locations. Maybe cause they started skimping on the Pokey Sticks.

First year of ordering them, it was pretty consistent. Youd get the box and the greasy goodness would be soaking through the bottom. Then they started getting dryer to the point that we would actually ask them to "make it greasy" when we ordered. It was kind of spotty from then on.

I once ate almost two entire 20" Pokey Sticks after a session when I lived on campus. I was always the guy that ordered communal food when we were blazed but that day I took both boxes to my room (Buy One Get One on Sundays and Tuesdays) and ate nearly both boxes in full

Nope, it's a shared face that I use for things like stubbing my toe, watching someone do something stupid that will then cause me a delay in getting something done, as well as when my mom volunteers me to do something at the last second that results in an entire day wasted. Pretty much the "WTF, this is bullshit" face.

Of course that's my "uh ohhh, I think I might have shit my pants, because of this horribly pizza" face. Certainly not to be confused with my "uh ohhhh, the damn condom broke" face. Thankfully only made that face once.
