Guys, could we have a moment of silence, last post was just called on the last thread, marking the end of one of the greats. I believe that that one limped along on its last leg longer than any of the others before it. That thread had will, personality, strength, and an ass that just wouldn't quit.

So an ex (that I have not seen in 6 years) found out that I wasn't doing anything on my birthday (Monday) and decided that she would come up and we should do something. I said ok. Because... why not? So then she says "well, it will probably be late when we get through doing whatever... can I stay there so I don't have to drive home in the dark?" (lives two hours away). Soooo....

I second this.
The rule only states you can't post 50 million smilies. Now, I'm not sure if 50 million is bigger, smaller, or the same as 8200 of them, because I've never seen that many posted before. So I'm assuming they are different numbers...

Oh shit! Childish Gambino trending in the top 5, for the past 3+ hours or so on Yahoo.com. IMHO, new leaked song "Sweatpants" is just as good as the "hits" from Camp.
http://www.heyreverb.com/blog/2013/11/25/listen-childish-gambino-new-song-sweatpants-leaks/81718/
Song briefly after his angry Tweets about it being leaked (about half way down the page).
Edit: Ok, ok. Maybe it's not as good as some of the songs on Camp (like Bonfire). Maybe that's just his hit album for history, much like Wu-Tang Clan's "Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)" is their best album ever, IMHO. But still, I think it's far better than the last album he made, & made available for free online.

I think some of its pretty cool, kids on the street have ruined the image, but there are some true pros out there, and around them is good culture too. I find that its way more of a community than drag racing or even autox. For the most part the true players are a tight group.

I like drifting cause it takes more skill than just "smash pedal, try not to hit things". I've never tried it but I feel like I could be good at it given the proper space and equipment (a RWD vehicle would probably be a good first step). I feel the same way about making beats which I dabbled in for a while in college.

I'm not sure that'd even help really. I'd agree more with having far more driving schools available for people, to take their personal cars to a big track, with professional instructors.
This summer I helped a friend do some work on his Evo 8, and then was roped in to helping him datalog his car, while he was getting a remote tune from some guy in Florida. My "friend" is a young 20 something year old kid (no idea what his age is because he's a pathological liar), and has gone through more cars than he has actual experience driving.
He lives on a long straight road (scientists do radar research on it because it's so unusually long and out in the country), but there's a sharp corner at one end. So after telling him to stop babying the damn car, and give the tuner the datalogs he needs, he decides to gun the car immediately after the corner, on a rainy day. The car hits a bump, shoots it in the air and we're instantaneously in the next lane...with one hand on the wheel, and the other ready to shift. Needless to say, that was one of the last times I ever got in a car with him. In fact, it pretty much fucked me up riding in the passenger seat, in any relatively fast car. I tried to help my other friend, that I'd trust with my life, datalog some Hondas, and it scared the shit out of me. If he had more training in actual driving, rather than buying, it would have been a better circumstance.

Every city I know of has a track with track days and offer training? I think its funny that people complain about stuff like that and don't ever even bother looking into seeing if there are those things available. And tuning should be done on a dyno or track.. not the streets, you and your friends are morons. Seeing as you live in New York, I guarantee you there are tracks and schools there. Abso-fucking-lutely.

I beg to differ that I'm a moron, though I understand what you are saying. I absolutely agree that tuning should be done on a dyno, and then tweaked for realistic loads on a drag strip (when drag racing is the only important thing to the driver). This is not a road with heavy traffic, it's a remote road, that might see 20 cars in a day. It's legitimately in the middle of nowhere, other than having an official NHRA drag strip a little ways on the road around that sharp corner. On the rare occurrence of a person or vehicle on the road, the vehicle comes to a stop (even with the dumb kid with the Evo). Literally across the street is about 100 acres of open field, and just past the next house away there are dozens of acres worth of land where cows graze. I'm not the type of person who is interested in street racing, nor do the intelligent people I associate myself with.
But the nearest track where that would offer such a thing is 2 hours away, called Watkins Glen International. It's a huge track, that Nascar have events at every year. I'm assuming there are events that will teach people how to drive there, though I don't have specifics. Unfortunately the reality in this area is that everyone is in fact cheap & too egotistical, to go to an event. So yeah, for these cheap fucks, money is an issue.
There are very few realistic people in this area. These are "ricers" who are pissed when they don't run 10's in the ¼ mile with an ebay turbo kit and an FMU for "engine management". These people are broke-asses, who would never pay $100+ for training. So yes, legit complaining :p
