Still no bites on the V8 tercel idea? Come on... That would be hilarious.:grinyes:
All the Tercels are front wheel drive. Would be like making a civic rwd V8... which has been done. And Tercels were never very good looking IMO.

This is the video I showed the wife, and she was like "Yeah, do that!"
https://www.youtube.com/embed/KV7ENJvWAGc
Also showed her this.
https://youtu.be/YHHBB0H8MMw
The one I got is the Falcon Zero F170HD+
Here's my initial voyage.
https://www.youtube.com/embed/HGw-Y9wXVcI
It does full 1080p resolution, but I had it turned down to 720p... The video looked better initially, but I think the Microsoft video editing software I was using to stitch the videos together and remove my actual speed reduced the quality of the final product.
https://amzn.com/B014S09OKO <---- Amazon Link
Driftworks has an AE86 Corolla drift car with an LS7....
2JZ and 1JZ swaps have been shoved in everything. I work with an guy that has a 1JZGTTE in a Toyota Cressida... which is not too difficult, considering it came new with a 5MZ 2.8 liter inline6, almost exactly the same physical size as a JZ motor.
TE71 and older Corolla's (and Toyota pickups) have a short engine bay that makes the JZ series motors a bit long, unless you're willing to have part of it in the cabin with you or put a lot of weight out front.
The idea with using an V8, for me at least, has more to do with the over all length of the assembly, and not having to cut out as much of the firewall, and still be able to maintain some creature comforts like heat and A/C. A/C far more than heat, as I'm in Texas!

An ls would be a nice thing to put in my Gremlin though.
Still have my heart set on a v10 diesel from a Toureg though.
Ultimately I don't have the money or time do anything to it right now though, so it shall continue sitting.
I am looking at Volvo C30's as a new daily driver though. Found some really good deals on low miles ones in Dallas, I like the funky Volvo hatchback look of them.

pro tip (I'm not a pro) I'd practice on something that isnt cast (brake rotors are usually cast). Probably good for perfecting technique though. Its been a good 10+ years but I used to work at a trailer shop. I done a tiny amount of TIG, mostly MIG. Kinda miss it honestly. One of these days I won't be an apartment dweller.....
but hey, as long as I'm not looking for Pokemon its a good day as a functioning adult, right?

Yeah, I know about cast metals. I've done stick, MIG and oxy.. this was just my first time with TIG.
My main problem was not having anything at the house to really sharpen my tungsten. Keeping the arc and the puddle under control with a flat tipped electrode isn't easy.
Keep meaning to bring my die grinder home to do some sharpening. I'm afraid the abrasive disks won't do a lot verses the tungsten... waiting on a cheap bench grinder to come in from Amazon.
I don't know about that Pokémon thing. Even my wife is playing... seems like everyone under 30 is. I never got into it back in the day when Pokémon first came out in the 90's.

I've never tried Tinder (requires you have a facebook account to sign up) but I've tried other dating sites/apps, both free and paid. I'm the problem, not necessarily meeting someone I guess.
On another note... Washer/Dryer sets are freaking expensive. Was looking at used ones and decided I might as well just buy new, and spend as much as I could justify and hopefully they'll last me 10-20 years. Samsung makes some pretty sweet ones...

I have a Samsung washer. As with all Samsung products, it was great until the warranty period was up. Now it tends to walk out of the laundry room and around the corner, if anyone puts it on high spin.
I went with a Kenmore dryer more recently, after my used Maytag was breaking too often keep fixing. Haven't had any issues with it, but only had it a year.
My refrigerator is also Samsung. It too became sketchy, but I've since fixed my issues with it.

I have Facebook, because that's where I can post pictures of my kids for my family to see. Literally 22 'friends', and all but 3 are family.. They can't seem to figure out Google+, which is where I do self promo.
Although Google+ seems to be dying a slow death these days, much like this forum, and wife said I need to get Instagram or Twitter.... I do a lot of lengthy technical write-ups on Google+ though, that I don't think are possible with those other formats.

It did actually. It had a learning curve and didn't catch on with people as fast as anyone was thinking it would. Probably because it was nothing like anything else.
Although the guy who was the head of it at Google left to go work elsewhere, and since then, it's been dying a slow death. The science and technology crowd have been about the only groups keeping it alive. I don't think Google really knows what to do with it anymore, so they leave it alone.
I like it and I'm still there though.

I know, right!? Except, I was out in the garage welding, and the wind started blowing water sideways into the garage... so it's like, unplug the welder, and then shut the garage door, before I get electrocuted.

That reminds me, a toothbrush I designed last year just got full funding though kickstarter to go into production. My first mass produced product.

Nifty idea. If I had any teeth I'd buy one with all my BJ money. But then again, I guess I wouldn't be making that $ if I had teeth. ;)

12 volts never hurt anyone :-P
A car doesn't have enough amperage @12vdc to really do any harm to a human.
I do deal with some hybrids that run in excess of 350vdc that'll do some damage. And then yeah, there's Tesla... But both the hybrids and Tesla's are typically sealed systems, that can also detect insulator failure and disconnect the batteries from the rest of the system.
Home electricity doesn't have very good safeguards, by comparison ;-)
I could get shocked by a 115 or 230 outlet all day long, without tripping the breaker.
It'll be funny if Tesla does trucks. They haven't even figured out how to do cars yet.

I've heard they have issues. I think they look nice, but I have no plans to buy an electric car any time soon.
After debating a lot of what I want, I think I'm going to try to buy a Volvo C30 as my next car. Why? I just think they look cool, no other reason. And I've never owned a 5 cylinder.

But... I've got to get some stuff in order before I try to find one. Meh, adulting.

Issues is putting it mildly.
I actually like those Volvos... I work down the street from a Volvo dealership and their service center. But heads up, just like all European cars, they are very quirky.
Speaking of adulting, I'm getting my house ready to put up for sale... going to try to have it sold by this time next summer.

I should roll over 210k miles this week. Had to go to Gladewater this weekend (about 2 hours east of Dallas) to pick up some show cases... got 10.2mpg (pulling a trailer) and about died of heat stroke. Going 60 on the highway with all 4 windows down it still showed 96 degrees inside the car.
Meh, every time I think I'm in a position where I'm starting to get ahead something else happens. I've kinda stopped hanging out with my only friends here.... last time I went over he mentioned 8 times that he and his wife make 135k a year. 8 times... I counted.

135k each? 135k as a couple isn't really amazing. Considering that the target customer for the company that I work for ideally has a disposable income of 500k per year.
I've never really worried about how much other people make though. It's not important. But then again, I'm a working class stiff.

Yeah, well, its still almost 4 times what I make.
Honestly I'm just kinda losing hope on life. I'm 30, never had anything... never had a nice car, never owned a house... fuck I don't even have a full set of furniture in my apartment... never had a girlfriend, never had anything that most people have. I don't have any friends. I hate my life. I have nothing to live for anymore. Well, I've never had anything to live for. Anyone I've never cared about hasnt given a shit about me. I just don't see a point in going on anymore.

Have tattoos? How extensive? Are you introverted or extroverted? (seem more introverted to me) Do you have a degree or certification in anything?

It depends on where you live. In my area $135k for a couple is making bank. Median household income in this area is $38k.

Yeah, median income where I live is around $100k... Things be more expensive in big city Dallas.
You should see things here in Portland, Maine. Big city prices in a small city with small city median income. Average rent for a 1 bedroom apartment is around $1200 a month. The guideline for reasonably priced housing is 1/3 of your monthly income. In order for that to be reasonable the median income would have to be $48k a year, but it isn't... it's $27,500 a year. And to make things worse, there are no state laws or even city ordinances against no cause evictions. Meaning some elitist prick real estate developer who doesn't give a f*ck about the middle or working class can buy an occupied building, kick everyone out for no reason as long as they give 30 days notice, make it look all fancy, and charge premium prices that only the privileged few can afford. That's happening too because city council (most of them anyway) have their heads up their asses and don't care that the homeless population has doubled in the last year because they're rich and they have their houses and cars and everything they want. I'd like to get the hell out of here before there are riots in the streets and half of the city's on fire, but moving costs money and I can't save any because half of my income goes to rent (and I got a good deal on my apartment in comparison to the usual) and the other half to utilities, car insurance, groceries, etc.
If you're thinking about moving this god forsaken city, or anywhere in the black hole state of Maine, do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. It's a cool place for a vacation if you can afford it, but living here is absolutely infuriating unless you're rich.
