As far as what car i would drive forever....i'm not sure.

But i did drive the stealth today. I drove it to the orthodontist while the redline was in the shop. It felt pretty good, but then i stepped it down and remembered why i got a different car. But i still got the looks i always got in it:biggrin:.

The redline does atract girls too though. Last night we came outside after being in a friend's house and there was a piece of paper with a phone number and it said "call me baby!". So we did, but it ended up being a few freshmen girls...so maybe its not the attention i want:lol:

Haha well i never had a number put on the stealth, but the attention is definatley there!

So i got a story for you....A month or so back we realized that there was a leak from under my car. We brought it to a dealer amd they said it was just a leaking axle seal, so they ordered both of them and then when they tried to replace them they couldnt get the driver's side axle out. Apparently one of the clamps had gotten stuck on the axle inside the transmission housing. So they called saturn and saturn just told them that they didnt want me to have problems down the road and that they should just replace the whole transmission! So at 16,000 miles they put in a whole new tranny under warranty just because of a clamp. And they replaced it in 4 hours. Also i found out that my car wasnt registered until november of 05 meaning that it must be a late model 05, which means that i have warranty until november of 08! Well that was my excitement with my car

TorchedStealth
01-06-2008, 04:42 PM
My touch was $300 for the 8gb, the 16gb is $400. Internet costs $free99 lol. Its actually free, because you just connect to any wireless internet that is around you. The only reason you may not get internet is if you are in a place that doesnt have wireless internet, or if the internet source is locked and you dont know the password. It doesnt work to use internet in a car or if your moving though, because you choose a connection and then when you get out of range you loose it and you have to choose another one. So if your going down the interstate or something, you obviously wont have internet service. But with my wireless router i can get signal from my cousins house, which is about 100 yards away, but my router is really strong.

O yeah and i have a friend with a voyager, but i have no idea what she pays a month

whats up guys, just stopping by to say it seems life is slowly improving. Work is going good still. Talked the insurance company into giving me 1600 more than their original offer after totalling the Subaru (course now I gotta find another car asap..but whatever) And hypothetically, the inspection stickers may have disappeared off hte subaru before they took it. And hypothetically I might not get another inspection ticket for the vr4 for the next 8 months. Finally got some resolution on one thing that had been adding some stress to my life. Wasn't the outcome I wanted, but at least it's taken care of. Alot of stuff is still up in the air, but I can actually say I'm not stressing about it as much, and I'm trying to stay positive. Sorry I'm really not around much anymore, but feel free to hit me up on AIM if you can catch me.

My friend is borrowing his grandpa's porsche boxter for senior pictures, and we are gonna run them if weather permits. Its an 02 or 03 (so 217-225 hp depending on the year) completely stock manual. I just have intake on my car, cause i dont know if you can count stock sized aftermarket pipe with a smaller than stock muffler a cat-back exhaust (lol long story). But we are going to go from a dig and a 35-40 roll, so it looks like i need to practice my launches this weekend. And next weekend i might race my friend's 00 eclipse gt, but that wont be as hard. wats up?

had to put my opinion about this in, ultimate car for the rest of life. 997 turbo. plenty of room for groceries, plent of power(480) awd, and eventually when porsche comes out with the 998, you can put that powerplant into it. or just fiddle with the turbo's on the 997...just hope the 998 isnt mid engine. porsche already knows that 4.0l is the largest engine they can fit in the rear, and they're already at 3.8l for the carrera s,2s,an 4s...and i wanna say the gt3

Its a regular boxter 2.7. And yes we should get it on video.

Young, i do still have the stealth, but its my brother's now. And i dont think i would have a very good chance at winning in that lol. Maybe against the eclipse but im sure he would still pull on me if i drove the stealth.

And now apparently my friend told a few guys he knows that i would race them, and they both have turbo'd d16 civics. My friend almost beat one of them in his 91 camaro 305 with just an exhaust, and he wasnt a very good driver then and he was shifting at 1000rpms below redline. So hopefully i can get you guys some videos in the next few months. As it is now, the porsche should be on monday (again, if it doesnt snow) and the eclipse should be next weekend. The civics will be later sometime if i race them.

Thats not even the worst part when they tell you about it because you're their "best friend" they go "I bought two of everything so we both can have one. O and I used you address."

WTF used my address how am i supposed to explain 2 wii's, 2 zunes, and a bunch of other random crap arriving at my door? When you have a chat with your 'friend', i would have some forsight and figure out exactly what your gonna do when that day comes. I dont know whether they will come pick it back up or let you keep it, but either way they will report the incident, and that way, if shit does hit the fan, theres a record of you not knowing WTF is up, and you can avoid throwing your 'frined' under the bus.

Already being discussed on 3si

http://www.3si.org/forum/showthread.php?t=404030

The only thing Ford owns is the Mustang logo and the Ford blue oval emblem. If someone puts one on a shirt and tries to sell it, then yes they have a case. A picture of a car, they do not own.

The best example was laid out in the thread I linked.

Theme parks sell pictures to people on roller coasters. They do not have to pay royalties to clotching companys that appear in those pictures.

The photographer owns the pictures, and as soon as the picture is taken it is automatically copyrighted. The owner of said copyrighted picture can do with it what they please.

If I wanted to make my sig pic into a poster and sell it I could do so. I took the pic, I own the copyright, I own the car.

As long as they are not trying to sell it as a Ford liscenced calender, then Ford doesnt have a case.

They are also going after companys with Mustang in their namesake. Like companys that sell performance parts for Mustangs.

Ok heres an example. Theres a semi local place to me called Laurel Mountain Mustang.

Ford insists companys like LMM is making money based on the Mustang name and therefor owe Ford royalties or must give up the Mustang name in their title.

Heres the problem. Ford doesn't own the WORD mustang. They own the Mustang WORDMARK that appears on the car. LMM uses Mustang in its company name as a descriptive title.

I already mentioned it in the 3si thread but someone needs to take this shit mainstream. Take it straight to a major news network and make Ford execs squirm. Bad publicity is a very bad thing for a corporation such as Ford.

VR43000GT
01-13-2008, 02:06 AM
A while back Ford did this kind of thing with a performance shop that worked on Mustangs. They threatend to sue them if they did not change their name or logo or something like that. Which really seems amiss to me, since the company did aftermarket work on Mustangs. So it was as if Ford wanted to try and take down something/someone who was promoting their product. They're very weird about this sort of thing to say the least.

Its coming in his brothers name who is in the air force stationed in japan. I didnt talk to him today but according to him it arrives on the 15. I'm gone all day on the 15th the only person who will be here is my grandma. He also has some more stuff going to his house he split the order into two different names/houses and made 2 different amazon accounts.

Even if it makes it here which I probably doubt I check my bank account everyday because I've been hacked before and if I notice anything I call immediately. So if they notice and call everything will be cancelled. Needless to say next time I see him there will be words exchanged the last thing I need is a cop at my door saying I'm going to jail for some crap I didnt do.

Even do I do want a wii and a zune he knows that I've been thinking about buying them both so I guess its cool he considered me :dunno:

O and to get on the new topic thats being talked about theres a place in the mall around me that sales pics of cars on t-shirts/mugs etc. All the cars are debaged and they have been there for about 2 years now with no legal problems.

Dude Ford's "legal team" has been pulling this shit for a while I guess.

I don't know if they got to LMM yet, but if I owned a shop that worked on Mustangs my argument would be this.

Do you OWN the WORD mustang?

Well you dont, so I am using the WORD mustang in my company's title as a description of the car I do work on.

...I hate animal rights activists, but i think it would be funny if they tried to sue ford on behalf of wild american horses for using the word Mustang.

All these companies have to say is that the word mustang in their namesake refers to the horses and not the cars, and the fact that they work on ford mustangs is just a coincidence. There is really no way for anyone to prove otherwise. I wonder if they have won any of their lawsuits. I hope not.

Theres an article linked on the 3si thread. Alot of people are just folding to pressure.

Its big guy vs little guy. Ford is desperate for money and no this legal team is on the attack using their own interpretation of the law.

I'd LMAO if someone fought them and proved Ford wrong in most of their cases and alot of the previous crap was reversed.

hey guys. just wanted to check in and say hey. its been a long time since i posted in the off topic thread. occasionally i'll pop in on other threads. since i moved to New Orleans life has been good, but very different. working construction building houses for the low-income bracket of society is very rewarding and i've learned so many valuable skills. in addition, it has opened many doors to other opportunities and jobs. i might stay down here for a while doing this, but that means plans for grad school are put on hold. i also met a girl and things are going great, but she's applying to medical school and will be gone in the fall: to move away with her or stay here with some job security? big tough questions.

as for the 3S, i haven't touched it in a while. i worked on a friend's Mercury Mystique and did a timing belt job for free. then his car sounded the same, and frustrated, i swallowed my pride and told him to take it to the dealership. conclusion, setting the timing on cars with Variable Valve Timing is a little tricky. at least i replaced all the necessary parts and my friend was only robbed of time and no money.

i've been slowly purchasing parts to replace my oil pump, install adjustable cam gears, finally tune the AF with my HKS S-AFR... and now my car won't hold an idle. i think the ISC is shot, so there's something else to the list. and i need to replace a fog light bulb, fix the rear wiper switch, rotate tires, wash her inside and out. long list, but i really get tired working on cars, especially when my free time is occupied with my girlfriend and co-workers.

oh, and i had $600 of tools stolen at the beginning of November. i've replaced a few things, and now made my tool storage container (basically a cargo freight ship container) bullet proof, but i had some specialty customized tools sets that will take a while to replace like my electronics kit and metric tap and die set. i guess no one can have nice things.

and there's this thing called Mardi Gras. my offer still stands. if any of you want to come down, you have a place to crash. Blink, you're nearby in TX! next time i head to Austin i'll give you a call.

hope everyone is doing well. i like this community we have here. i miss my car buddies and that community i had back in TX and Dallas, especially. i don't get on the internet much anymore other than to check email b/c there are only so many hours in the day. but its nice, encouraging, and inspiring to be a part of a community here on AF where people are going through the same problems and difficulties in life. also, we share in the praises and good times.
