my mom looked at one, canary yellow. this was in 05 when they were still in production. she liked it b/c it was a convertible. i liked the looks.

now we found one for 7g, nothing wrong. we called the dealer today, we can't go down there till monday. it stated it was only good for NJ residents and had to have like perfect credit...so i'm not getting it, my parents though could, but we dont have the room.

Ok, so I am kind of a geek when it comes to astronomy as I have always enjoyed learning about space, a little physics, etc. One thing that does shock me is that most people do not know about the potential asteroid that could hit Earth on Friday the 13th 2029. There is a chance that an asteroid that could wipe out the majority of the human population that is moving at approx. 13 miles a second and is named, "MN4". As of right now, it is projected that it will be so close to Earth that it will pass in between out satellites and the Earth. To put that in percpective that is about 1/13th of the distance from the Earth to the moon. Just figured I would spread word to anyone who may not know.

So at work today my boss got into an argument with me (he knows absolutely nothing of 3/S's) that his stock mid 90's V8 T-bird would leave me with my hands full. Told him if he ever wanted to line them up I'll give him 5 lengths and 5:1 odds on whatever he wants to bet. Grrr, ignorant people boil my blood.

He thinks his 220hp V8 will beat your 320hp (stock) VR4?


He doesnt have some unknown mods like 347 stroker, cam, etc does he?

If not his car is at best a high 15 low 16 second car.

It's amazing that so many people really dont understand imports in general. They think the only cars that can make pig horsepower are american V8s. I remember a year or so ago i went to a local meet and there was someone there with a really nice fully built Supra...we're all standing around oogling his giant chromed diesel turbo, and a late-80's mustang owner walks up...smirk on her face, nose in the air, and says to the owner "it sure is pretty, but i'm not really into all this rice bling stuff. What kind of power does it make?" Owner casually replied "8XX to the wheels." She damn near fell backwards, lol. Walked back over to her mustang crowd with her tail between her legs, no more smirk.

Nope, he is bone stock down to the paper airfilter and exhaust. He is just from a different era where the only muscle is V8 muscle and the mentality that it's just another kid with an import fancied up to look like it is fast. And not that it would matter but my VR4 isn't stock anyway. :lol: Funny thing is, he is one of the nicest people I know...just ignorant about cars.

Well, I have a Stillen downpipe on the way for the VR4 now. :D From what I have read, after installing the Stillen (and obviously gutting the rear precat) I will have most every bpu without dropping serious coin. I know I could go for a full exhaust but I've been told that if you have an aftermarket downpipe, the rest of the exhaust will be good up to about 400hp...which I will not be at, at this point.

nice. thats the one i hope to get when i get the $. I'd be interested to see how it sounds when you get it on.

Sounds nice. I was thinking I will eventually just have a custom exhaust made by an exhaust shop. Has anyone heard of any adverse affects of having a custom exhaust bolted on to the downpipe? I was just thinking I could maybe do a single shot catback with my choice of muffler. Thoughts?

So some of you fellow east coasters know we had some severely high winds (60mph gusts) and rain tonight.

Power flickered, rain was insane.

I heard a loud noise but I thought it was just the wind.

I ran out to my car in the storm to get my flashlight out of the car in case I lost power for good and saw some shingles on the ground. great. Looks like ridge vent shingles, kind of hard to tell at this point.

I went back in out of the storm.

About 10 minutes ago my brother got home. He runs in and says "I need help. The big tree in the backyard is laying on the pool."

FUCK.

Its a 24' aboveground pool.

Its about a 40' tall tree (best guess) but luckily the tree was at the bottom of the yard and only caught the front side of the pool. Otherwise some neighbors down the road would have gotten 10000 gallons of water rushing down toward them.

At this time we are losing no water but the wall is pretty damaged, a few top posts are destroyed and some upright posts are bent up pretty bad as well.

It slightly ripped the winter cover too.

I am going to take pics tomorrow to send to my dad so he can send them to homeowners insurance.

On another note, where the cover is ripped I looked down at the water and it is still crystal clear. Did I mention it hasnt been open since 06?

Summer of 07 was really shitty and last summer we just didnt have the money to open it, so two full years of being closed and water is crystal clear.

Those storms suck. It was like the situation you had accept across the entire city. They measured winds 110mph+. I worked at a landscaping crew then and the next 4 weeks all we did was work 10-12 ***EDIT***HOURS A DAY (not days) sawing and cutting down enormous trees. I was on the interstate when it happend and the guy in front of me had a sign go through his rear window...I needed a change in pants afterwards. Get those pics up!

It will probably be tomorrow afternoon before they go up.

Hopefully we get no more damage thru the night. We are supposed to have high winds up til 5am or so.

I've only got two trees left standing in my yard now. I'm just glad we did preventative maintenance and took down 6 or 7 a few years back or this could have been much worse.

Ok, is it just me or is anyone else very dissatisfied with the so called "upgrades" performed here on AF?

The site is slower now than it was before, and thats pretty damn pathetic. Also they changed the damn profiles around so now you cant see anyones homepage or their AIM name.

Yeah, I don't much care for it either. AF has been horribly slow since then too. To be honest, I don't see what is so great at all about the new upgrade.

Well, last night my SL was impounded because it was parked on the side of the rode with expired tags. So @ $84 a day that is a bit spendy to be in the parking lot. Whatever right? I'll just pick it up today so that I only have to pay one day of being in the impound. NO. Since it is another lazy 20 hour a week government operation they don't work on presidents day nor are open for more than 8 hours a day. So, even though I could easily just go down there and pick it up today, our half-ass government agencies only work about 1/2 as much as the rest of the US population so I will now have to pay two days in the amount of $168.

Hey guys, there are still upgrades coming up to the hardware and that should make the site faster. For me and many others, it is now faster than before. I highly recommend you use the Firefox browser. The load times are much much slower in IE.

As for profile stuff, we will get it all sorted. If you want stuff towork right now, it's your browser compatibility - if you upgrade the browser to the latest version IE7 or Firefox, then everything will function as it is intended.

I say it's time to close this thread and start a new one.
