Alright I've got a story that a few of you may get a kick out of lol. So last night I was headed home from my buddies house and as I'm about 1 mile or so away this annoying Honda Del Sol with an after market exhaust comes up and keeps trying to race me. I refuse as I am tired and don't have much fuel left and really didn't want to use it up on a Del Sol. Anyway, we hit a stop light and my radar detector pops up a Ka alert (cop radar). So I look over at the guy and give the VR4 a rev. This guy winds his damb car up like he is trying out for the next F&F and the light turns green and he is off to the races as I calmly start out in 1st. Sure enough a cop comes over the hill, flips around and pulls him over lol. I felt bad but it was entertaining lol.

rofl...that is fuckin Evil
but yes, funny and entertaining all the same :evillol:
on another note, i inadvertantly drifted my car half way around the small traffic circle in the center of town today. I dont usually drive through it, so i didnt realize it was more oval/football-shaped than circular...anyways, good song was on the radio, so i was driving kind of aggressively...tried to pull it in tight when i noticed it was a little sharper than i though, and the back end just stepped right out. and stayed out until i let off completely and turned to make my exit.
It actually had me kind of concerned because until now i have NEVER broke traction in this car...even in the wet. I stopped and checked to make sure all my tires were aired up all the way. there's no sort of suspension issue that would cause this, is there? everything seems solid when i rock the car.
I'm wondering if maybe there was some oil on the road or something, because it just seemed to slide way too easy. It was dry, but the road is kind of a slick worn down surface. Very fun and manageable though. At no point did i feel out of control.
BTW, plenty of tread on the tires, too.

well that sounds like it was fun. it's too dark for me to look, but r any of the suspension parts held on by hanging brackets...like they hang off another suspension part. i know on the 944 my front sway bar is, and when one broke it was hell to make a turn controlably.
only issue with traction i've ever had was in snow...i think most of u know what happened.
music wise, dont really like country, i like rock or metal, linkin park, korn, breaking benjamin.

Blink: I think that is probably normal...or to a certain extent. Me and 701-3kgt broke his verfer loose around a corner kind of on accident and it felt very in control and just snapped back when he let off.
On a different note, I started college today. Staying in town and going to the college here for a year then transfering to North Dakota State University next year.
Also, I took my car to the dealer today to get it flashed to the GM stage 2 tune (had the ZZP tune) because it has been missfiring horribly and throwing a lean code (caused by the intake/MAF). So they flashed the ECU and it still misfired...not quite as bad though. Turns out my intake is actually too free-flowing...so my car is getting TOO much air...who knew? :licka:

honostly i liked korn's album issues, but since then didnt like anything, then i bout their album from july 07, and liked that. it just depends on my mood i guess. linkin park, i like the older stuff more, but i do agree with chester and mike, they can't make a trilogy of nu metal, rap/rock mix, it's not new to them, other bands have copied it and sold it. they had to change. i do miss the rap tho.
i woulda thought the aws didnt snap back into position, just gradually went to lock...that's gotta b kinda dangerous to inexperienced drivers

oh i'm sure it's not an instant snap back...but when your going around a turn and already have the tires loaded up and near their limit, it's probably enough to break em loose a bit. it wasn't a huge, tail hanging slide, but the back end was definitely loose for a good 200 feet, maybe more, until i turned the wheels back and let off the gas completely to take my turnoff. If i had to guess, i'd say the back end was maybe 2' out at the most.
Maybe i'll go through again tomarrow and try to get it to happen again :icon16:

i dont think knowing the limits of your car is retarded at all. I would rather find out what they are in a controlled situation than in an emergency.
wanting to do it again is because i want to find out if it does indeed have anything to do with the AWS...or if i was just at my tires limits...of if maybe the road conditions were the decisive factor.

30mph doesnt strike me as a VR-4's limit. AWS trying to kill you FTW!
My old car went well past its limits... And so has this one. Apparently having a busted intercooler pump can blow your engine in a single pull...
I went to the track, did several 130mph + runs including the 145mph race me and Torched had... and it still didnt break. Lucky son of a bitch maybe, or God has a much more spectacular way for me to die.
Korn sucks. That is all.

that's a tough decision, but in the end the Challenger SRT-8 would take it for 3 reasons;
The styling is better. I like how it looks, but the G8 is basically just a tarted-up sedan when you get right down to it.
Uniquness and memorability. Years from now, people will still know exactly what the challenger is when it rumbles by. The G8 has much more competition, and it's not nearly as much of a stand-out in it's class.
Then, there's the possible collectors value. With chrysler's current woes, it may be the last sports car of any kind they make. They are discontinuing (or selling) the viper, and the new owners (Cerberus Management) have said that they will make all Chryslers hybrids in the very near future. If these thing hold to be true, the value of the car should remain strong.
Not to mention that it's actually a well made car with a good interior...not that the G8 isn't, but it's just something that's not often said of recent chrysler products.

they're not getting rid of the viper. they wanna change it a lil. sales and what it really is. the reason they though about doing it was because they only sold 480-something in 07. but what they don't tell u is that the factory was closed for 6-8 months in 07 for machines to be built for the new hardtop and the new 600hp engine. they also would like to bring the viper back to the idea of back to basics roadster(while keeping the gts) basically no ac, no power windows, no cd player, and no leather...and drop the price a lil bit.
my dad doesnt think the way we do. he's 58 in november. he's looking to get a car that'll last. he has the 67 buick riviera, and his olds intruge. he wants to finish the buick(thank god) and sell both olds and buick to put a downpayment on his "dream car", which has always been a vette. he had a 57 in 1970's, and would like to get the c6. his big issue, he has issues getting in the stealth sometimes, new vettes sit a lil lower. his other big issue, he's a baby boomer...doesn't like foreign cars...tho he like's the stealth ;), just doesnt relize mitsu built it
i'm not saying we dont look for cars to last, but we're at a point in life where if it lasts 5yrs awsome, we'll get another when it goes.

no1 would buy it. ford would b the only hope, but they probably don't have the extra money, and they don't have a v10 to put in it, and no1's buying a viper w/o a 10cyl.
ooo...porsche. they could buy it. they could use a new 2dr front engine rwd sports car. plus i dont think they are keeping the 911 past the next generation. they'll likely make a panamera 2dr to take the 911 place.
i don't want chrysler to get rid of the viper, that'd b like killing the nsx. held as the halo, invested millions into it, and then let it only last a few yrs...yes the viper is my dream car.

i think the most likely buyer would be a tuning company...like ACR.
if it dies, it will be a sad day for the US automotive industry. Viper is truely an automotive icon. But, i guess, i would rather see it die than see chrysler gradually water it down with smaller engines and mushy suspension. or, god forbid, a hybrid version
if i can ever afford it, i will buy a viper. A white GTS with blue stripes.
i suppose killing it would be good for the used market value.

In other news, Polygon posted in the Racing section on AF how the ACR SRT-10 Viper cleaned house at the ring with the fastest production time of 7:22.1. IMHO I don't think the ZR1 will have a snowballs chance in hell of getting that beat since it was running 7:40's for a while until someone finally was able to squeeze out a 7:26 in it. The ZR1 is at a disadvantage from the lack of downforce in the rear and bad heat soak after being raced for a while. Go Mopar!

the neon in general off the showroom floor was the fastest and best handling car in it's class. at least the first gen. the acr neon(at least 1st gen again) was lighter weight and had a better suspension than the r/t. it's the reason the neon was the most common car in it's level of racing class...and some people still use it competitivley

well in all honesty i dont think it's really fair to compare the two. The ACR is more of a street legal racecar.
And about the 7.22...i think they can definitely knock almost 10 seconds off that time with the right driver. If you've seen the video you know what i'm talking about...the guy spends more time bouncing off the rev limiter than i've ever seen and he doesn't seem extensively familiar with he 'ring. It seems almost liek he's too lazy to shift sometimes.
Both cars are absolutely fantastic (ZR1 and ACR) and amazing pieces of engineering, and i;m definitely glad to see that car companies are still thinking about the true enthusiests, not just fuel economy.
But if it's my money to spend i'd definitely take the viper
In other news, Polygon posted in the Racing section on AF how the ACR SRT-10 Viper cleaned house at the ring with the fastest production time of 7:22.1. IMHO I don't think the ZR1 will have a snowballs chance in hell of getting that beat since it was running 7:40's for a while until someone finally was able to squeeze out a 7:26 in it. The ZR1 is at a disadvantage from the lack of downforce in the rear and bad heat soak after being raced for a while. Go Mopar!
well in all honesty i dont think it's really fair to compare the two.
It seems almost liek he's too lazy to shift sometimes.

...do you think if we got all the owners on 3si to list their cars for sale all over, asking 2x what their worth, that we could effect the market value of the car? Does NADA/KBB take into account current pricing and demand?
(i know it's 2 posts in a row, not trying to post-whore...but that thought just hit me)

Yeah but that is just it. The ZR1 and even the Z06 for that matter are race cars. They really are. They are not practical, definately not comfortable to cruise in. They were built for fast speeds and handling. And just like with the ZR1 not being a race car....what about trying to take the ZR1 with the front splitter over a speed bump or a steep incline. They are all race cars that are street legal in my book as that is what they were made to do is be fast and look good......that's it.
And I did watch the video and you are right. The guy was bouncing off of the rev limiter constantly.

I believe they base the values on what the car actually sells for, as reported by the title transfer papers and tax forms filled out when purchased. I could be mistaken though.

no, nada bases the value on actual selling prices. edmunds and kbb just do it based on company and type of car, milage and options, they don't take into account the rarity, that's y according to them a supra tt 95 is worth al of 9g...i wish
the zr1 is a very practical car. it's supposedly a very decent ride, and still has the hatch that u can go to the food store and get a weeks worth of groceries. the zr1 isnt really ment to b a track car, but the splitter doesnt come off. thte acr is a track car, but for road use the splitter must come off, it's not a dot approved item on it.

GRATS JASON! All the best to your new family!
On another note, I thought that the Z06 was fairly comfortable. It's no Ferrari but its a helluvalot more comfortable than my 3000. Just my opinion

I guess what I am basing my statement on was from my ride in the Corvette and I've talked to a couple guys who own Z06's (one a C6 Z06) and they've said that it's a blast to drive but that they aren't comfortable in the least.

i do agree with u sl. but i'm wondering, most of the people i know or have talked to that own vettes are in their upper 40's and early 50's and getting in and out isnt as easy as it used to be. it also mite b b/c it's a small interior, not much in terms of ability to move around in the seat. but i doubt the chevrolet ever ment for the vette to be a 1) everymans car 2) an every day driver, but more of a car to be used on sundays or cruising.
who thought a 02 z06 would only cost 26g. it's only 6 yrs old and does has 405hp, and a damn good suspension. a guy/gal 2yrs outta college could afford one. it's niche has just changed over time, from american dream to something everyone could have. i think that's y more people are(from what it sounds like on different sites) preferring the viper over the vette

the badging part yea, but it's not even close to an unheard of conversion for a 300 to make it look like a 348/355. hell some go all the way down to the various scoops, rear facia, and front end...tho at that point a 355 itself would b cheaper.
i wouldn't buy it tho, even if i had cash to spare

That is saddenning to see that:shakehead. It looks like a stock 300zx...
with a chopped top and Ferrari stickers...in no way is it a 355 look-alike or whatever he was tryingto make it look like!
Anyways I officially hate North Dakota weather (again), Sunday was 97º and sunny, Monday was 52 and rainy and its been like that since...barring yesterday which was decent but still only 68 degrees.

As did I. Plus, the massive size of that front badge made me die a little on the inside.
Why would you make a 300ZX look like that? And I have never seen a convertible one before, so I also assumed they didnt exist. Good course of action, huh? If I havent seen it, it aint real.
