It's pretty depressing how many people in this country are ill-informed, and I can't help but think, if everyone really knew all the facts, McCain would have swept the election. The man is a socialist and a racist, not to mention the horriffic policies and inexperience. Start saving for your futures now fellas, because with immigrants collecting social security who have never paid a dime to it, it sure wont be there for us.

Well, last night I managed to chase off someone (about middle schoo age) trying to steal my grill and then sure enough I wake up this morning to find a 4-5" rock that has been thrown through my SL's windshield. People truly are terrific these days. Now I will be taking the SL to the city my parents live in and the VR4 will continue to live in the garage at night. Pics to follow later.

i didn't vote, i really haven't paid enough attention to it to really make a good choice. i do have a feeling that there will be a few attempts on his life though. and honostly it doesn't really matter what oboma want's, the bills still have to pass, and most of them are not likely.

something this country really needs(i feel) an up in minimum wage. 7.15/hr is not enough in NJ u would have to work 80hrs/wk to survive. i know different states have different mins, but NJ and VA are the same(as of june 09) and thats sad. my appt in Va was 350/month, and it was 2br/1b/kitchen/ living/ and dining, plus off street parking, and everything was brand new, here in NJ that'd be 1200/month(at least). that's what hurts a lot of the economy...you can't afford to spend extra money going out to eat or filling the gas tank, or buying a mod for your car. it really just doesnt make sense.

Damn SL, its sad that people get that jealous. I hope that fucker gets what's coming to him. It always pisses me off hearing about or seeing crime against someones property. Its kinda like taking the coward way out instead of having the balls to face someone. Or in this case there is just no reason whatsoever for that kid to do that. Nah, it's ok, I saw who he was and he lives around here. Don't worry, he will get what is coming to him, I promise you that. And I am not going to stoop to his level and break his car as I feel that is the worse thing you can do. However, a couple companions and I will be paying him a visit on Thursday night...it should be quite a time.

And thanks about the car! Yeah, I would first off like to drop it but that will probably wait until next year unfortunately...but it will happen. Eventually, I would like to get wheels too but I don't mind the stock wheels for now.

Yeah I need to drop mine too...in the spring. First I'm getting 60lb injectors and a 2.8 inch pulley with cooling mods...woot!

Thanks Blink. Nah, I don't have full coverage on the SL, I do however have it on the VR4 but the odds of the VR4 getting harmed at night are slim and none.

I dont know about that bro. people are pretty ballsy and stupid. A month or so ago someone broke into my wife's car, opened the garage with her opener and ransacked my car. All while we were sleeping in the house, lol.

Anyway, what do you guys think? GM, Ford, and Chrysler gonna make it through this economic BS? There was talk of a GM-Chrysler "merger"...but apperently that fell through, thank god.

The government bailed them out, so it looks like they'll be good far at least another year. Too bad it's giving them Robitussin for broken legs. It will only matter if they fix the issues they have and if lending institutions can lend more money for auto loans again.

even fiat is trading for more than the big 3. though in the past year fiat has doubled its trading worth.

if the american car companies can figure out that they're the only idiots spending millions(if not billions) on electric cars then maybe the government money will help. if they could manage to build a diesel motor for something like the impala or malibu and other mid range 4drs, and get really good gas milage out of motors that don't break, they might be able to get something out of it.

on another note, in October only 19,000 Honda Accords sold, in comparison to the last 5 yrs when october sales were nearer to 30,000.

I think it's just an image problem. People think good MPG and quality, they typically dont think american, but the truth is that in the last few years GM and ford have met, if not exeeded most of the import competition. And in the last half a year of so, even chrysler has started turning out quality products.

i challenged the people on Rennlist.com to this too.

find an young male(even female) and ask them if they would buy a 1999 Dodge Neon for 2g or a 1999 Honda Civic for 5g. tell em that both have 90k on em, new tires, brakes, essentials. 90% will likely say honda, even though by 99 chrysler had fixed all issues in the neon, and it was in fact quicker in everything, and only 1mpg shorter on gas(with a bigger tank).

i hated my neon, but relized it was as good as the civic.

the only things that the big 3 have that dont have issues, the challenger, the new camaro, the vette(of course), and the viper, even the new malabu(exception see below). all halo products, all well recognized, but in a league where most people have a 2nd car...likely foreign.

the malibu is a recent change in pace. but it still has yet to outsell it's competitors. now because people fear if gm goes under the warrenty on the car goes with it.

the new cobalt is good, as well as the CTS. The new focus and taurus are, aside from the styling, good cars. most of the pontiac lineup is good as well. there are plenty.

GM and the others have started to get their act together recently. However, almost all my life their cars have been sub-par. I was considering getting a LS1 Camaro but after looking at one, sitting inside it, I realized how little effort was put into building the car. The interior was CHEAP! It looked like it had been pulled from a toy car. As usual one of the buttons just had fallen off, everything felt flimbsy, the gearbox shifted very rough, even more so than a cold 3/S transmission, the seats were ugly and and seems were coming apart in different areas, there is just a random hump in the middle of where the passenger puts their feet, and of course, all the instruments looked like that of a Cavalier...which you can also fine in the far more expensive Corvette. :rolleyes: It just seems to me like GM pushes for sales through giving cars that are cheap performance. Unfortunately, that means you get a very cheaply made car as well.

yes, i'm not saying that the products are bad now, but let's say 10yrs ago, they were, and not many people have forgotten that. so when it comes to going out and buying a car, they don't stop at the gm, ford, or chrysler dealers, they just go to honda, toyota, nissan...ect.

the hump in the camaro, i think is the ecu, or something to do with fuel lines. i remember a friend telling me what it was, but soon forgot. i will say hers is a 97 v6 with about 350k on it, replaced the stock clutch(1st time) at 237k. she's owned the car since new. it's still in great shape, and wouldn't be surprised if it hits 400-450k before she gives it to me. don't ask, just want a rwd 210hp car, that i fool around with(the redneck in me).

from what i've rear they've got a good LSD in there, and it does the slalom at something like 70mph.

The hump on the passengers side is actually part of the exhaust system (maybe the catalytic converter if my memory serves me right). And instead of redesigning it so that there is not a huge hump in the passengers floor, GM said screw it....IT'S CHEAPER THIS WAY! Which, is one of about a million reasons I will not buy a GM.

I have a friend with an F-body, and while the performance is impressive, the interior is something I would expect from a base model cavalier. At least they did something right in giving me damn Recaro's

And the new turbo cobalts are pretty impressive. 250-260whp stock and with just a tune put out ~310whp 330tq. I think this platform will have a better following than my platform, there is just simply more potential.

And brig smart and finding good deals man that after the few mods I put in I'll still have sepnt just under $1,000 for all my parts. Not too bad I guess, and if I sell the car I can get more than what I paid for for most of the parts. And another nice thing about the injectors and pulley I got is that I can sell my stage 2 injectors and 2.9 inch pulley. I'm hoping to be in the 265-270whp range and then once I get my wideband and tune a little I'm hoping for 275-280whp...not too shabby in a ~2900lb tuppeware machine i guess

i dont think it's attractive to begin with though. especially the back end...like some crappy wannabe skyline. if your gonna spend the time to make a fully custom rear end, at least use some freaking imagination.

So what's everyone's gas prices looking like in their area? I recently filled the VR4 up with 92 octane @ $1.85/gallon. For regular, it is currently $1.55/gallon.

My GF told me she was paying 1.95 for 93 in VA

I filled up yesterday and payed $1.99 a gallon for 91 octane....we don't even have 93 here in North Dakota.

thats pretty rediculous...there are alot of cars that need higher than 87. where do you live? is there anywhere around where you can buy race gas? maybe you could mix in a few gallons of that with every fillup to boost the overall octane a few points. i dont know if it works liek that but it's an idea.

NW, NJ. nearest 93 octance is 20mins away. and the largest tank i have is a 1 gallon for the lawn mower. so transporting 1gal at a time would be waste of time. race gas, yea the drag strip might have it, though i'm not sure.

89 octane was removed in july and 93 in september i think. there's a lot of cars that "require" 89 or above, but if they're new enough they can run 87 the vehicle remaps everything to run safely. porsche. bmw, and benz already admitted to that. but there are a lot of vettes.

In other news today a kid (well I guess he's like 28) claims that his 1983 RX-7 n/a could beat my car in a race. He did the whole your car is heavy mine is light thing. I continued reminding him it doesn't matter if your car is a feather, if it doesn't have power, it's not going to be fast. He has no NO2 or anything. Just a couple bolt-ons on a 1.3L rotary. He also says he will smoke me out of the whole because he claimed that he killed his buddies bolt-on LS1 out of the whole. Oh the hopeful minds these days....

you're forgetting some fun facts on the inability to drive the stealth. no clutch, not current registration, no inspection, pretty much everything that makes it illeagle for road use.
i'm not going to see the car on a highway(all be-it a flat bed) till february when the holidays and bdays are done. over a f'n year without it...i could cry it's so sad. i see it everyday, just sitting doing nothing, not even able to run.

as for weight on a roll on. relize his rx7 weighs over 1000lbs less then your tt. i've watched a 94 rx7 in race form and 300hp beat a standard rx7 with 500hp in a race. his issue's will be the tranny's more then a decade older and a lot slower on shifting. but rx7's are easy to bump power on...though i'm not going to fully agree that he'd beat you, depending on if anything's done(short shift kit, or power ups) he could give a run till maybe 70 or 80mph

Vector, I am in no way a 3/S fanboi but a bolt-on 1.3L rotary does not beat a VR4. Truth be told, I am not sure it would beat a SL. He also mentioned that he ran a 1/4 mile of a 14.5 at 95mph which I am still skeptical on. Even still, I'm not stock in that case, if it even mattered.

And if the race should go down for some small chance I'll try and get it on video. I even told him I would race him tonight if he was so inclined to do so and then he went on about this, "I need it to be warm for my car to hook up well." I told him any race from any speed he wants to go regardless if its from a dig or a 70mph roll.
