Slave came back as "Ascendance". Poor kid has nothing better to do than to come back over an over again.
I HATE ELECTRONICS!!! My freaking monitor is going crazy the past 2 days. It's a piece of shit Del flat panel that I've had for a few years now. Suddenly yesterday it decided to flip out on me. It keeps Auto Adjusting itself (shifting the horizontal and vertical lengths to their "optimum" positions). Ususally it would only do it when I press the button on the monitor to do it manually, but not anymore. So when I try to do something, I get this black bar in the center of my screen, and the screen shakes back and forth. Sometimes it will do it non stop for 15-20 seconds at a time. and when I shutdown my computer, I get a message saying "In Power Save Mode: Press Any Key on Keyboard or Move Mouse"; like the damn thing thinks it's in standby or hibernate more. Of course when I search for answers online, NO ONE has a solid answer how to fix the damn thing. If I call Dell, I'll never be able to understand the person on the other end of the phone, they'll never be able to understand me, I'll waste 30 minutes (if I'm lucky), and won't even get a friggin' answer.

remove plastic casing from it, disconnect switch panel, tape off contacts on wire side, replace front bezel.
You'll have to leave it powered on tho, it's the switch that's going nuts, top guess.
Basically, it will stay in "standby" when you power down your computer (which I never do), and eventually will shut itself down to a "power save mode" where nothing is displayed on the screen, then when you power the computer back on, it gets a "wake up" signal, and "wakes up".

yup, I played around with it more and it is one of the buttons that's sticking. There's no way I'd take it apart though, I have horrible luck with electronics and will definitely break it if I did. And...screw you Blu haha
Christ
12-28-2007, 04:18 AM
want I should get you the shcema for it? you just use a small plastic screwdriver to pop the lil clips on the sides, and you can pull the front bezel off w/o "taking it apart"
but I suppose if you got that button to unstick, all's well on the monitor front then?
IOW, the rear panel covers up the electronics that control the LCD and PSU, so its screwed onto a metal "ground plate" and the front bezel just clips into it, it's just held in there like the front panel to most older nokia fones, you can pull it right off.... in fact, there are companies that make "gaming" bezels for LCD monitors that have neat designs and stuff, and they use the same lil plastic "flat head screwdriver" that is used in the iPod battery change kit.

Believe me if there's a way to break something or mess it up even more, I'll find a way. :grinyes: I killed a PS2 trying to clean it and fix the disk read error problem, and I destroyed my PC's processor by taking it out to clean & putting it back in wrong. I do appreciate the advice & the walkthrough though, I'll definitely keep it in mind if I start losing my mind from this message popping up on my screen every 2 minutes.

So, we basically clean everything w/ windex or vinegar and water or dish soap or whatever, comet, sometimes, but I can get along w/ this, b/c dish soap is much cheaper than "cleaning products".

All in all, that damage isn't all THAT bad.. it's def fixable, and it doesn't look like any serious chassis damage.. just the hatch (liftgate) is dented and the taillight is kicked, right? (other than the rear window, obviously).

And yes its just the hatch..I made sure by pulling on the tail light which promptly snapped in half exposing the chassis. It did come about an inch from clipping the rear quarter though as you can see where the "honda" is totally "V" shaped.

A friend of a friend, painted his roof, trunk, and the center part of his hood black; it looks pretty sick. The rest of the car is a deep dark purple color w/carbon fiber fenders. Another friend had a dark gray Jetta with a black hood, roof, & trunk; that looked sick too.

I have a black hood and decklid... well, charcoal.. stock EX '90 color.. doesn't look bad, but I'm not a big fan of the whole "lets' paint half our car one color that doesn't really match anything else" scene... so the whole car will be black come spring, and when I do the front end swap, ti's getting blacked before I even put it on.

that's standard tho.. that's the way the car comes.. well, it has hubcaps on some models, and all but the DX and STD come with color matched bumpers.. but still.. there were options to get black front/rear bumpers and no caps.. the trim is always black iirc.
I don't like it when ppl paint their hood and decklid, or when they paint ghey ass "viper" racing stripes on the hood.. whatever.
I prefer OEM look vehicles, or even cars that have obvious modding but "appear" like it could have come that way from the factory. Clean cars FTW.

Hrm, yeah, I dont particularly love the idea of making the hood and roof black..but itll be a shit-ton better than the paint on it now. I'm trying to quit smoking today (for the millionth time). But I'm using patches this time, so I shouldn't feel like my heart is pounding out of my chest & like I'm losing my mind (though I have a feeling I will anyways). Been smoking for just about 6 years now; 2 packs a day when I first started, at least a pack a day for most of the other time (usually 20-25 cigarettes a day), and half a pack a day for the past 6-9 months. At $5-6 a pack, it's just a huge waste of money. I'm sick of getting out of breath just because my nose is a little congested. Most of all, I'm sick of going outside when it's below freezing and snowing out, just to have a cigarette at 3 in the f^&%ing morning (I'm an insomniac, and last night I went out at 4am for one).

If you can't find the title, there is a lost title form that you can file w/ the junkyard, and they'll send it in and claim it as "abandoned".
Had to do that several times when we had cars around for so long that they started to rust out and such, then forgot where we put the titles for them.
